PsiloCybian - Brain Dissolver (Neogoa, January 2014)
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Due to the FA2 release in late Feb, I decided to re-schedule this album and release it in first half of March, so probably in week or so it will be available for free download on Ektoplazm. My appologies for such a delay, but we're trying to have at least small gap between the two releases and luckly we're having a opportunity to release so much great music. In case you're unfamiliar with this release, go and check full samples on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/psilocybian-brain-dissolver or download for free full track from the album entitled 'The Creator' here: https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/psilocybian-the-creator-feb- 12 replies

They offered, and that's got nothing to do with hard-core goa fanboys. Seven Sisters is a well produced full-on album with it's highs and lows, but it's not something for people who get used to retro Pleiadians sound and feeling. Even with their main project - Etnica, they decided to explore different moods and I haven't seen that much complaints about that, even that shift was present on Equator album 5-6 years before/earlier. Making money by a release? Not sure, they are legends and legends don't need countless releases to get money, they do gigs and they are doing it big time, just like AP or Si. Honestly I don't have any problems with the fact that they want to explore the other side of psychedelic music, probably because they made the complete Goa genre back than kinda special and for sure they got different goals and musical influences now and people (especially fans) should appriciate that, just like they're appriciating their earlier works. Afterall, I would rather enjoy to see a blossom of a new wonderful musicians nowdays who dare to tickle that same retro sound such as Filteria and others, than to live 5-10-20 years in hope to see something recycled by someone who succeded to make it so special 15/20 years ago, event that it sounds great now. Dat already did amazing job, bringing some unreleased material and doing a complete re-master of some old tracks. Let's appriciate that instead of wishful thinking, and be greatful that we're living in the age where afterall we can enjoy in old and new Goa trance.

V/A - Future Architecture 2
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Thanks mate! It wasn't easy job to get a solid collection of groovy tracks for 'a free release', especially knowing that some of them had the possibility to end up on CD's, but thanks to the artists who decided to believe in this project and the quality promotion and the exposure from UAF/Neogoa, they in the end became available for free download and people can have them for free and enojoy it. Honestly I'm happy to see that nowdays many artists recognize the opportunities of promotion throught the Ektoplazm platform and how it can grant you much needed exposure towards the bigger crowd of people interested in Goa trance sound and music.- 29 replies

V/A - The World Beyond (Neogoa, 2014)
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I would rather say more experimental and daring. Dimensional Gateway trilogy scratched the surface with the concept that has been presented in the past couple of years, this thing goes further and explores the different realms and moods. Does that mean the realms will be shinny in the end? I don't think so. -
WAV/FLAC/MP3: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/the-world-beyond The World Beyond is a new concept release from Neogoa featuring four songs by eight musicians, all of whom have previously appeared on releases from the label. In the making for the better part of the last year, this compilation is the first of its kind for Neogoa; embedded within the artwork one will find hints of connection to previous Neogoa releases, particularly the Dimensional Gateway series and Celestial Transvibrations. Here on this release Neogoa’s mysterious collaborators explore experimental realms ranging from dark and acidic Goa trance to eerie and occult ambient atmospheres, all perfectly crafted to bring the listener on a 75 minute journey into the world beyond. Artwork and concept by Richpa at Neogoa Design with mastering by Deimos at Deimos Soundlabs. Artist: Various Album: The World Beyond Label: Neogoa Records Style: Goa Trance, Experimental, Dark Ambient Format: Digital (WAV/FLAC/MP3) Cat.Num: NEOG036 Tracks: 4 Lenght: 75 min Date: March 20th 2015 Artwork design, concept and compiled by: Richpa at Neogoa Design (Croatia) Mastering by: Deimos at Deimos Soundlabs (Croatia) Tracklist: Chapter I: The Vision (Passing The Monolith Into The Throat Of Time) Chapter II: The Journey (Across The Silver Sea Of Eternal Life) Chapter III: The Gate (Facing The Keeper Below The Human-Form Mountain) Chapter IV: The Sphere (Ascending Towards Star-Eaters To Become The One) Samples: The Vision (Passing The Monolith Into The Throat Of Time) https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/the-vision-the-world-beyond The Journey (Across The Silver Sea Of Eternal Life) https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/the-journey-the-world-beyond The Gate (Facing The Keeper Below The Human-Form Mountain) https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/the-gate-the-world-beyond The Sphere (Ascending Towards Star-Eaters To Become The One) https://soundcloud.com/neogoa/the-sphere-the-world-beyond

How would you rate the last 10 years of Goa Trance music
Richpa replied to Richpa's topic in General Psytrance
IMO nowdays many artists think if they don't input a huge ammount of layers and melodies in their works, they won't sound or be Goa-enough, and from that reason, many doesn't dare or want to experiment / explore different moods and atmospheres of the Goa genre. It's kinda sad, because the other side of Goa trance (dark Goa) could and should be a next big thing, there are so many possibilities and unexplored territories. There is also a problem how people experience 'dark' music, many think if it's agressive or frantic that it could fit in that basket, but the most important part is the quality of the storytelling/arrangement and the overall atmosphere of the track. I noticed that some people see Alienapia or Psy-H Project as a darkgoa, but to me it doesn't reflect the dark mood at all, there are some quality agressive/intense kick-drum work in the tracks, but there are still some melodies which I don't consider to be dark at all, even I consider both projects to be very good. On the other hand, there are some Cronomi artists who got also different approach and their sound is based on the retro influences, to give an example M-Run and PortaMento, both got amazing skill to perfectly arrange the tracks, to come up with interesting basslines and unconventional melody-work, to have darky parts in their track, but overall I can't consider them to be 'evil in terms of atmosphere' to be darkgoa, also both are amazing producers and are worth of checking/seeing them live. Regarding the artists I had pleasure to work Morphic Resonance, Cybernetika and Arronax are the closest things to 'darkgoa' regarding our catalogue, but yet, each of them still have big ammount of influence towards the classical Goa trance, MR tends to work more with hardware and to create more intense than it's dark Goa music, a very much influenced by Etnica. Cybernetika got amazing background when it comes to dark psytrance and his earliest works and some unpublished material got great chemistry between darkpsytrance and Goa, and it would be interesting to see will he ever publish thoose tracks or do some rework in the future. Arronax got that evil vibe, but he should improve a bit more regarding the production, he already got sense for nice storytelling and interesting acidic segments in his new tracks. Suntrip also offered their vision of darker kind of Goa with the new E-Mantra album, which is produced perfectly and it got that haunting vibe in it, with solid atmosphere and trademark melodic work by Emmanuel, which is my problem again, I got used to it since his first 'Signals' EP and even it got mysterious atmosphere and great drive, somehow I don't feel it to be dark enough, probably it's a matter of taste. Anyway, it's still amazing album and it's worth checking it. The other artist who should/could (not sure about the status) release a debut album (and we also had a pleasure to present him) is Antares side-project Daimon, which is the closest thing alongside Arronax regarding that 'evil' darky Goa trance, but I haven't heard anything new/recent from him, so i'm not sure how will new album sound. Anyway, there are some artists who are not affraid to experiment and try to do something different, and it would be nice to see in the next couple of years more and more producers who are willing to dive into unknown, even if they're gonna be influenced by the old releases and old projects from 90s, it would be cool, but if it's gonna be copy-paste music, well, that won't give any benefit to anyone. Time will tell, only thing we can do is to hope and to give our support/feedback whenever we're able. Edit - also many people consider the old releases to be a foundation for some kind of inspiration, but honestly I think that there are newer releases aswell which can be served as a great showcase how to achieve dark sound. Recently I checked my darkpsy collection from 2002 - 2006 and many great albums and compilations can be found as a great examples how to catch that 'vibe'. Just saying, that Goa trance only doesn't have or should be the only source of inspiration. -

Hehe, same thing Jos told me when they promoted album on some party in Belgium, that many people liked the fact that it looks like some medieval cathedral glass. Ofc, I wasn't aiming for that at all, the first version of artwork featured a womens eyes and face alongside with some effects and standard layering of elements from Universe, but in the end the final product was kinda glassy and different. The first version with woman's face: Second project with fractals and the groundwork what will become the final product: Before coloring and adding fonts:

It's hard to say, indeed, both made some chessy action-flicks that made my childhood much much happier and even now I really enjoy watching some of their cult movies, a classics such as Terminator 1, 2, Predator, Rambo, Rocky, etc. If I have to choose, well Arnie gets my vote, btw this was great at the Oscars: aaaand for the realllghh Arhhhnold fans out there, this band is best thing ever:

Couldn't agree more. The artwork itself should reflect the sound/atmosphere of the album or if it's a storytelling release to follow the concept of the music. The problem nowdays in Goa trance scene is that some of the labels/artists doesn't want to pay any attention to the visual side of things. I mean, if you want to have your release to look/feel/sound good, paying for some decent artwork won't kill anyone. If you're paying for mastering, for promotion, for distribution, etc, I don't get why some people who aren't skilled (and when I say skilled I mean doesn't have the fundamental understanding for the estetics of the visuals) decide to create artworks, which in the end looks horrible and turns away people from checking the music. I'm not saying that my works are the good stuff, some people like it, some don't, but there are countless options and a bunch of great designers who made amazing artworks in Goa trance scene in last couple of years. To give you an example, Ukiro (i think) did amazing job with Filteria release, that artwork got soul, it looks nice and it fits music perfectly. Or a guy who made an artwork for PortaMento's The Portal album. I really love that artwork and when I saw it I wanted to check the music and to see other works from that artist. On the other hand, you got abominations such as these (i'm honest here, this is something that i don't consider to be an ARTwork): I understand that many artists/labels doesn't have a lot of extra money to spend on the artwork and I'm not familiar how much does other graphic designers take for their works, but at ND we charge for physical CD designs (with more than 500 copies) around 100 euros. For digital's it's around 50 euros. If thats too expensive for a piece of art that will last forever, than my perception of things is absolutley wrong. Another important part (at least to me) is a general input of the ideas that comes from the artist itself. I know, many people like to work without pressure from somebody, but when you get quality information, regarding the motifs, the theme and the overrall suggestion(s), than the complete product will and should be much better.

Mauri from Etnica/Pleiadians also came to say hi!

Thank you! At this moment ND team consist of three people, besides me, there are iPsy and PharaOm. Regarding my works on artworks artists and clients usually asking for two options: more psychedelic/colorful compositions based on fractals with symetrical feeling, or some prefer more landscape compositions with various elements to be represented on the same image, for example the Call Of Goa artwork: Ovnimoon wanted to have some kind of temple on the shore, alongside with the beach and different sky where some sort of 'Shiva's eyes' will be positioned in the background. This type of artworks are tricky, you have to find good images that will represent the idea and take care that you're using images which are available for free useage, after that all that matters is how good you can use the pen tool for cutting the elements and bleding them with other parts, after you finish the whole image, I usually do colouring and photo-filtering. Some motifs from the front-side in my works are always represented on other parts of the artwork. I'm using only Photoshop for this and it can make wonders. Regarding the fractal-kind of artworks, well all the magic happens in Photoshop aswell, I was into fractal generators at the beginning with the early Neogoa releases, but after some time I found the way how to create your own vivid fractals without using the help of generators. Mostly I'm using the images of logs, trees, plants, animals, that I shot in the nature or I find on google and which are available as freebies. The very first result always looks messy so the crucial thing is to make it look stylish, usually when I work with smaller resolution images, i'm doing a smooth blurring of the whole images, adding some smokey effects and shadowing on certain parts of the artwork. Also, the relation between the colours is also very important, I really dislike artworks with gazillion colors, without any sense. To me something that got so much colors doesn't look that much psychedelic, colors are like food, some things stack with other and the combination is tasty. The font selection and the positioning of certain informations on the artwork also counts, I dislike designs where designer choose the most unreadable font and turn on all the options in blending of the font itself. The good work on the font is crucial when it comes to print, it should look readable, it should fit well with the background and it should look interesting and psychedelic. Speaking about my co-workers, I'm sure both of them are using some sort of fractal generators, but i'm not sure which tools they're into nowdays, I can ask them or you can also, drop a message at Neogoa Design facebook and they will see it and give you a better respond. I hope I helped a little bit

He already won Golden Globe and IMHO he is in great position to get an Oscar aswell, he was amazing in DBC and Mud this year, and even the short appereance in The Wolf of Wall Street was great. If you haven't go and check his new TV Show - True Detective (already left a trailer and IMDB in TV Series topic here)

Good one

The Wire is awesomeness. Btw, anyone interested in some great acting, great dialogues and narration, wicked atmosphere and kinda Se7en feeling TV drama, with great story (so far) and amazing cast (MM is rocking recently, dude should get an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, right?), should check HBOs: True Detective and watch first 4 episodes which are already out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2356777/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roiKrE5KLbk
