  1. Thanks for the support guys! Hope everyone will enjoy this comp, there's quite some variety in it as to please many, from mellow to fluffy through dramatic and abstract. Imba and Harald have done a terrific work putting it all together.
  2. fair play, i had no idea anything i can be of assistance in the future do let me know, sometimes two brains are better than just the one
  3. I might be able to help out with those things if ya need a hand, I do this professionally. Apologies if you have it all handled, one never knows only thing is that not until end of the week as I'm abroad
  4. lovely and chilled, tres bien, nice one dude
  5. Very excited about this compilation, not only because it's my first release but also due to the quality of music in it. Also very thankful to both Imba and Digitoxing for the trust, time and effort put into this. Will be a blinder in my biased opinion
  6. Superb album, production is flawless and psychedelic content abundant, nice arrangements, interesting progressions, all in all one of my top for 2009. Can't wait to see this guy live.
  7. Yeah BG had some down moments but, overall, one of my fav series ever
  8. Current stuff I watch on maketunes-break: Fringe, Supernatural, The Big Bang Theory (a must if you're a geek like me), Californication, Flashforward, the remake of V, Sanctuary (pass on the webisodes, they tell all that story on the first real episodes). Older stuff: Twin Peaks, the remake of Battlestar Galactica (awesome), Doctor Who, Torchwood, Jericho (continued now as a comic book series), The Pretender, X-Files, Nowhere Man. Eagerly awaiting for the comeback of Lost.
  9. I don't think either way (going minimal or maximal) it's more difficult than the other. If you use a load of sounds, from a production point of view it's difficult to still keep k&b and perc punchy enough so they keep driving the track, among many other things including lead definition and whatnot. Going minimal has its own challenges, eg you have to be much more careful on defining the sounds as they will have plenty of space on the mix and as such any imperfections will be very noticeable. On the actual music writing there are also more than enough challenges going both ways. Each type of music always have their own merits.
  10. Lovely artwork! Look forward to the music, dlding.
  11. 1) no idea, that shouldn't happen, or maybe your drive is a bit dirty? 2) the plastics and reflective surface do decay over time, especially on cd-r where additionally the dye clears off given enough time; the cheaper the cd the shorter the lifespan due to lower quality materials.
  12. Earliest I can recall is Erasure's "little respect", 1988 IIRC, the galloping variant. I'm sure they didn't "invent it" though. Music is as old as man. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=x34icYC8zA0
  13. The "Ender" series by Orson Scott Card is pretty good, plenty of moral and philosophical issues; especially on Ender's Game. Clarke's The Songs of Distant Earth depicts humanity migrating from earth before our sun goes nova, plenty of stuff to think about. Goes really well with Mike Oldfield's musical interpretation. Asimov's The End of Eternity and The Bicentennial Man are also pet favs of mine.
  14. Yeah man, but they're far and between, maybe 1 set all night and sometimes at the beginning of the night when there's no one to enjoy them. Look at the years you're mentioning as well! I know Bez23 will be doing a goa set at the Kulu Castle party soon. Compared to all psy events every weekend is pretty weak innit.
  15. The Killing Fields by Mike Oldfield
  16. Well jealous, it sucks we get no goa parties in the UK.
  17. Precisely my point. You take old classics, re-record them again with today's production, and they will sound fairly different. Not the old school sound anymore. People will moan. While I love many of the classics and more obscure old goa, the style has to evolve so that, even still being goa trance, it doesn't sound like the older music; if it hasn't it might partly be the artists not risking, and some labels pushing agendas on their artists (for what I've heard). I think suntrip and phototropic, to name two, have this pretty well handled with most of their releases so far, or at least as of late.
  18. It's all about the music, if it sounds good it's good no matter how old or new it is.
  19. This is one of the reasons I singled out Corolle; sadly loads of people seem to think this is a bad thing, and that if you don't do the "old skool" sound you're not really making goa. I want to see more experimentation and unusual ideas on the music, otherwise, yes, lots of tunes end up being too samey.
  20. A few other niggles: * Haven't found a way on the site to contact you guys to report the following * The photo uploader is not working, the file gets uploaded, the text "1 file uploaded" appears and that's it. Nothing else happens and the pics appear nowhere. I've tried this on FF 3.5 and IE8. * The site randomly redirects the user to the "invite friends" page * When using said page, it says nothing about what's gonna do with the login details being entered. My guess is nothing other than logging in on myspace or facebook, but you have to make this clear to the user or they will be less likely to use it. * I'd go a bit easier on javascript visual effects, especially on big chunks of the page as this is pretty slow (single core 2.4ghz machine here so it ain't a snail). On IE this can be excruciatingly slow. * Haven't found a way to browse a user's list. Other than that all seems pretty solid.
  21. I got the same error. I was careful as I read that message before so I paid attention when I received the link on the email. If you look at the logs you will see I clicked the activation link twice, and got that error twice as well. The user, however, was activated correctly and am happily logged in. Other than that I was expecting a lame attempt at a social network, this has been tried before, and I have to say I was wrong. Loving the site.
