I'm not really a fan of this type of movie anymore as I find the imagery unnecessary these days. You are what you watch to some extent. But there's a movie that's just been released or soon to be released call "The Human Centipede". It's about a psychotic guy who joins three hapless victims together surgically arse to mouth. There are sequels planned. Here's a on youtube. Enjoy!

Worms, get back in the damn can!

What music are you listening to right now?

Figure on the left of the Hedonix artwork matches my sig pic. Love this album BTW. First listen in car this arvo. -
Cool, I've got Electrolux, Electric Roundabout and Diskovery Channel. Not listened to this one yet. Thanks, Jon.

Hold the lawyers, this is awesome!

My spree is over and I'm back to purchasing only 1-2 new albums a week. But for now (), both of these are on their way to my place. Torakka's album is only $3.50US at psyshop, bargain!

Yup. I've got the second Prometheus album. I love it. It's not as cohesive or consistent as his first work but it's still great. Has some fantastic tracks, particularly the latter half if memory serves correct. Second one I'll look into, thanks. Anyone have any word on Prometheus releasing anything new in the future? Suppose I should have a look at what the twisted website and forums has to say, assuming he'd be going through that label. Listened to samples of about 4 tracks and was sold. The uniqueness of sounds utilised and partial homage to Infected's older style helped to seal the deal, new album on the horizon helped a little as well.

Thanks for the last 2 posts, I didn't notice them here till tonight. I've bookmarked Freakulizer for future reference and I think I've got a purchased digital file of Antifluoro that I've barely listened to floating round somewhere. As you probably know the CD is pretty scarce these days. In the last week since making this thread I've ordered some great new music that I'm really excited about. The Delta is awesome! I've got Loud's - Some Kind of Creativity on the way too! Jon

Yeah, I thought I'd better correct my own ignorance if I'm trying to inform others. Jon

That symbol isn't the den of all evil from Nazi origins. It's been used for thousands of years and still is used in various cultures, including Tibetan Buddhist, to symbolise the continual movement/creation/destruction of energy. Much like Shiva or the Sun. The Nazis adopted it, and among other uses, attempted to utilise it for dark occult purposes and all round gave it a bad modern name. Link

Hell Yeah, ordered these 2 today! Can't wait! I'm a virgin to both aside from some brief samples. My wishlist won't stop growing and bank account can't keep up.

Ha, I thought the acid issue might be brought up as I typed that out. There was none. Yeah tough guy indeed. I cry like a baby in drama films and dramatic moments in films. And to stay a bit better on-topic it seems like the first prequel is due for release in 2011.

I boycotted seeing The Dark Knight at the time. I'm too stubborn and felt strongly opposed to all the hoopla surrounding Heath Ledger and it being his last movie before his death etc. There was so much hype and publicity over it, especially here in Australia as this was his homeland. I've got nothing against Ledger personally and he was apparently a nice guy, but everyone dies and there are plenty of people out there that have passed on who have lead more meaningful and honourable lives than a freakin' celebrity. I'm pretty neurotic (probably jealous) in this area and celebrity culture makes me cringe. Vicarious living freaks who follow them that have not the strength to try and stand up themselves so they bow to something with often no distinctly honourable qualities. To this day I've not seen the damn thing and I'm not in any hurry to either, it' still undeservingly #1 on IMDB I believe. Confession: Sometimes when I'm browsing the news I read about celebrities. Now does anyone have a gun to put me out of my misery. To stay relatively on topic I watched the Star Wars prequels recently. Despite the semi-butchering of the universe etc I still enjoy some moments in them because it is at least based in that universe.

G'day, I came across this a few months ago when I was looking for Jung's Complete Works. Princeton University Press is the only publisher currently releasing his works and they're certainly bloody charging a lot for them. Hardback only. Avg 40-50 US bucks a piece for around 20 volumes. Get farked! Anyway, the same company that released this Red Book is also completely reprinting his complete works over the next 20 years but in a more complete format and translation than they have currently been completed in. This Red Book does look interesting. Similar to some of William Blake's style of psychological musing. But yeah pretty damn expensive and I think will only ever(never say never) be released in hardcover format for the moment. If anyone wants to buy me a copy, let me know and I'll tell you what it's like. Jon

My profile views counter in me profile seems to be stuck at where it's presently at. I noticed because I had another registered logged-on visitor pay a visit but ye old counter did not go up. A self-obsessed man like myself needs to know how popular he is dammit. What gives!? Jon

Can't wait to see this when it arrives on DVD, missed it at the movies. May 28th release date in Aus. Have not read the book which is supposed to be much better. Watched Children of Men in anticipation this last weekend. 2nd viewing.

Thanks for these recommendations I'll dive right into them! Am really looking forward to The Delta's dark and Scizzoeffective at my doorstep! Seems to be a shitload of psy around that's low quality and derivative of the truly creative and inspired pioneers. It can get pretty tiring hearing different arrangements of the same sounds and template styles. It's part of the reason why I moved away from regular bands as all the songs just started sounding the same and singing about the same stuff. Dunno how some of you guys download so much material and listen to it all. You must mess with the shelf life of the psy that you actually buy and enjoy. Jon

Thanks! Glad you found something worth reading and relating to in my sometimes manic and meandering mental musing (please make it stop, the "voices" made me do it, haha). Jon

Dark City 12 Monkeys Contact The Shining The Crow The Matrix Some are welcome to refute these as psychedelic. I've always been a fan of intense films. Something doesn't have to be visually psychedelic and twisted or an abstract concept, it can be emotionally/mentally/physically intense and still be classed as psychedelia. You can't deny that a large part of the unnaturally induced psychedelic state is intensified emotional/mental/physical sensitivity. Any good movie in general can alter and intensify perceptions and experience so I could argue for the sake of it why I feel that Shawshank Redemption is a psychedelic film, imo. Though I don't really want to open that can of worms. "of or noting a mental state characterized by a profound sense of intensified sensory perception, sometimes accompanied by severe perceptual distortion and hallucinations and by extreme feelings of either euphoria or despair." The definition of the word is hazy as hell. I'm betting that a walk to the shops for someone with agoraphobia would be a damn psychedelic experience. For somebody with an enhanced sensitivity toward nature a simple walk through a forest can be incredibly psychedelic. Or a singular smell. Having sex after long abstinence. But yeah, I understand the traditional meaning and spirit of the word, but in truth it's all very subjective. After doing long meditation retreats it cleans out the senses via the emptied, sensitized and balanced mental faculty and everything becomes very psychedelic. As I said though I should leave the worms in the can because I understand the spirit of this thread and I'm not attacking that, just rambling for the sake of hearing my own voice. Jon

Love the Fountain. I remember enjoying Vanilla Sky too, I've only seen it once, must watch it again. Thanks for reminding me! Some great movies in this thread, I've seen pretty much all of them! I'll suggest a few that I think haven't been mentioned yet: The Dark Crystal Labyrinth Fraggle Rock (TV series) Coraline and the Secret Door has some visual design, execution and storyline concepts that are very psychedelic. It's based on a novel by Neil Gaiman. I was watching this with my nephews and they got bored with it and left and I had to keep watching! Overall I didn't think the movie was that great as it had many generic elements that I felt brought it down. It ain't a kids film that's for sure. Wasted potential though IMO but I do recommend giving it a go, if you haven't already, for the visuals alone. I watched another movie recently called Taking Woodstock. It's by Ang Lee. Predictable movie but there is a short scene in it depicting the acid experience and I thought it was well done. Made me briefly feel like I was on it a little.

I can sort of relate here. I saw these movies first probably at about the age of 7 - 9. Wow did they have some impact. Whenever they were announced to be coming on TV I used to experience such a rush of anticipated fear and excitement. I used to go to bed after watching them with my heart pounding. I love and will never forget them for this rush. I think H.R.Giger is really the one to thank. I spoke to another guy at work and he has had them in his dreams his whole life also. Anyhow, now in my older age the creature from these movies comes to me in dreams every few months as a healthy symbological archetype representing psychological fear in general. As I mature and develop and face/rise above my fears in life the nature of the dreams with this creature in it has started to change. I find myself sometimes successfully fighting, facing and killing the creature. Even just last week I had one where I felt much less fear with its approach and presence and broke its head apart with my bare hands. Jon

Suntrip Records - Temple of Chaos
JonCrow replied to mars's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Agreed. I chose option one. Though I'd like to see how it looks with the title font in black on both options. Might be too much blending with the background. -
I'm curious what other people's thoughts are on the plans for these movies. Ridley Scott is directing them. It's his first Sci-Fi film since Bladerunner. Part of his motivation is to "surpass James Cameron's Avatar". I think they're to be set on the planet where contact was made with the organism in the original film. Revolving around the spaceship of initial discovery with the figure sitting in the chair with it's chest blown open. I'm not all that excited about him deciding to make them in 3D. Though it could turn out well. I wonder how much description he will go into regarding the origins and nature of the alien creatures. I hope he doesn't ruin some of the mystique as I always loved those unexplained scenes in the first crash-landed ship. If he goes deeper into the creatures origins and mythos I hope that H.R. Giger is involved and I hope he(Scott) doesn't mess it up. Alien and Aliens had a huge impact on me in my youth and I look forward to these to some degree. It'd be nice to have the franchise revitalised and injected with quality after the disastrous AvP's and not so great latter Alien films. There's heaps of links around with a few interviews minorly detailing his plans and intentions.
