May I see some pictures of your bar? I might implement some features in the bar of my brother! Nah, I was just joking of course. Gastronomy is a harsh business, involving a lot of work and dedication in order to succeed, along with some originality. My brother lives in a comparably small town with only few bars/bistros, and it's really a hard job to stay afloat, mainly because costs are always increasing, but especially in a small town it's difficult to increase prices for the customers accordingly. Where do you live, if I might ask? Because of my work, I'm travelling the world a lot, so I might be able to stop by at your place, just to have a nice cold beer or something like that. Anyways, all the best to you an your lounge concept!

Erm? Of course I was never suggesting that a movie or science-fiction product in general could be patented, you misunderstood me there. I was talking about basic principles, like a way in which you interact with a machine/program, because those are the patents in question that I referred to. http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-20073461-264/apples-new-multitouch-patent-faq/ It's not about a technology that has been developed, it's about a basic user interaction mode. Like if some one would have patented the use of a steering wheel. I was referring to prior art.

Before commenting on the patent issues I dislike, I just want to comment on the value of Apple - without making this the primary issue here. Apple is imo, as are most of its products, highly overrated, or overvalued/overpriced. But that is not an issue of Apple, it's an issue, a problem that is rooted deeply within our economic system, our society. Let Apple be valued at amount x, fine, but it is only valued at that amount by (people in) an economic system, that used to built lots of those castles in the air in the past - without a "real" value to match the "virtual" one. Now I'm pretty sure I'm not telling you anything new here, as there's a high probability that you're a smart guy, but bubbles existed as long as people started to "value" things apart from their "real" value. It's when people start to be the "greater fool". This happened. It happens right now. And it will happen again, no doubt, out of a mixture of greed and stupidity. There was a time, when the ground on which the Japanese Emperor's castle stands on in Tokyo was valued higher than all real estate assets in California. Facebook now is valued at what amount? Don't know, but what I know is that it's over the top, exaggerated, crazy. What did Microsoft buy Skype for? Over 8 billions? Facebook Instagram? Wasn't it over 6 billions? Or Microsoft, which bought aquantive some years ago...for 6 or 7 billions as well. Why? Because they were valued at that at that given point in time. But they didn't live up to their expectations at the time, it was just a craze everyone seemed to be in to. Apple was like that once and I strongly believe they are like that now...overvalued, overpriced. Not long ago Nokia was the sole ruler of the mobile phone market. Where are they now? And the same can happen to Apple as well. Let's say their upcoming Apple TV set is not the magical revolution everybody (most of all the shareholders or investors) is hoping for...what then? The worst thing that can happen to Apple right now is to become "uncool" and not being "state of the art". Which, after a lenghty intro, leads me to this: I perfectly understand that it's a huge market (the mobile one). As far as consumer electronics are concerned, it will probably be the fastest growing and eventually largest market at all in the future. Media convergency trends will becoming stronger every year, no doubt about it. But that's the problem. Because there's so much money involved, and because especially the US patent system allows a lot of trivial patents, companies abuse that patent system in order to get their piece of the cash pie. It's not about innovation, it's not about VALUE innovation for the customer, it's only about money for a company and its shareholders. Companies resort to patent trolling in order to secure their market share and profits. Samsung is a world leader in R&D as far as consumer electronics are concerned. They spent over 9 billion dollars in 2011 for R&D, whilst Apple spent somewhat over 2 billion dollars in the same year. And that was already a significant increase for Apple. Why? Because they know that they have to wow especially investors with upcoming products - otherwise the hype train will come to a sudden stop. I admit that patents should protect really ingenious inventions from blatant copies, but the copies have to be on a larger scale, really obvious, e.g. Chinas automobile companies copying a whole car, which has a lot more design attributes than being a rectangle with rounded edges. Btw, I have a display in front of me. It's rectangle with rounded edges. When I look behind me, on the other side of the living room, there's an even bigger rectangle with rounded edges, a display as well. If I'd enlargen my monitor, it'd look pretty similar to my TV set. Strangely, Apple can file a patent suit for it's iphone design. A rectangle with rounded edges and a button in the middle at the bottom. Case accepted, verdict in favor of Apple. But not for the tablet? Humm...strange. Has any of your friends ever mistaken a Samsung Galaxy S2 for an iphone? Or vice versa? No? Guess why. About the gestures for the iphone again. Those are so trivial and general, really it's a shame those get accepted. That's a problem of the patent system. And Apple didn't even invent all those things, that's what I was trying to say. They bought this company back then, Fingerworks or so...I know that happens all the time, but big and rich companies, who can afford to pay unreal prices (being overvalued themselves) often only in order to stay in front on the patent side of things or in order to shut down uprising competition in advance. About the gestures againg. Look at Minority Report, or Star Trek, Science-Fiction in general. What about Blade Runner? Deckard told the fucking Esper to zoom in on the photo. I bet there's some troll who patented voice interaction with a machine. Patents as they are used right now slow down the innovation process, especially in consumer electronics and software. Customers don't benefit from them. The patent system has to be reformed, and it will be, I'm sure of that.

What can I say, I'm not too sure about all those musical subgenres. I used to dislike House, Tech-House, let alone Progressive! But I bought myself a Digitally Imported Premium account and in my brother's bar, we just let some of the streams play. Sometimes, there are really unbelievable tracks, really good stuff. What surprised me the most: I LOVE the Progressive stream. Already I discovered many gems (Moonbeam! OMG!) and guessing from your samples, you should just listen to the streams you like) If the track that's playing is not displayed (e.g. a DJ mix is running, they have a lot of them, live dj sets as well), then just ask in the forums. www.di.fm I paid 50$ for the one-year-subscription and I'm beginning to think it might very well be one of the best decisions I made. Speaking of Moonbeam BAM!

Psychedelic Zion - Documentary film on Goa parties (nineties).
ion1zed replied to U.F.Orb's topic in General Psytrance
OMG just a few seconds into it, and already it starts with "Mahadeva", some dancing chicks and all I can think about is how hard I want to party and dance right now! Will watch it later....thanks for the share! -
Come on...the pinching over images for zooming took them hundreds of millions to acquire? Maybe they just watched Minority Report or Star Trek or read some other Sci-Fi stuff thought up by some nerd, who had that idea long before some "genius" at Apple "invented" it...or maybe they just had the better patent lawyers.

Ahh...the internet and its memes...gotta love it!

What music are you listening to right now?

How I love it and I still can't believe that he released all his stuff for free. In my book Goossens is one of the most talented producers ever. -

I think Rammstein's music, especially maybe Sonne. //Edit: Btw. Paradox, that Cydonia track is awesome. When I think about aggressive, atmospheric Goa Trance, that somehow makes me want to headbang, but somehow makes me want to smile, it almost always boils down to E-Mantra and Alienapia. Alienapia - Fear And Anger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaAQxhsfOFs E-Mantra - Praying Forest (Neurosect Remix) (Damn I wish there would be Neurosect remixes of everything) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToRuOZCUkqk E-Mantra's "Perihelion" from Erta Ale is also a killer. merr0w - Citrus Circus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF05uXTXoug Aaaaaand I almost forgot...Cybernetika! Cybernetika - Eclipsis (Cycle Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsREiYncUnI Cybernetika - Earthshock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zO87tfQJOQ&feature=related That guy is just madly talented and has such an unique style...why does he never perform live or why do I never hear his tracks at some party? -
Aliens used me to make an unearthly track :D

Maybe it's just the fact that I've been sitting for 14 hours at my desk, working on my diploma thesis, now drinking some ultra-icy vodka, but that track really makes me want to trip like Homer in Rotwang's sig. Good job! //Edit: Btw. I like the image of some cosmic narwhales grooving and flowing through space, some of them maybe with an unsuspecting expression on their face, asking the viewer "heck, why not?"- 7 replies

So if you like the Full-On style with some acid climaxes, I can recommed some stuff from Belgium. Imo this is really quality full-on stuff Digicult - The Way In http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv_NJrZ-chU Digicult - Avenida De Belgica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBwQpN9G5W8 both on the same album. Holymen - Looking For Something...Spirit (imo an excellent set closer Now this is a recommendation which is more on the over-the-top side. It has not the flow of EU's "Peak", but also a strong acid build-up and is an excellent set finisher, leaving you (me) in absoute euphoria. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43ERlPu_M6A If you can tell me which of the recommendations you liked I could recommend some more in that vein.

the most aggressive, atmospheric Goa TRance
ion1zed replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
Sorry for German @radi Echt jetzt?
Apple has to do everything in order to save their market position, because I highly doubt they will be as innovative in the future as they have been in the past years. If their upcoming TV set fails to impress (and I strongly hope so), their absolutely overrated stock will plunge (which I strongly hope as well). So they have to resort to "trivial" patents, such as the design patents for the iphone, which is absolutely ridiculous in the first place. So now there probably won't be any other phones with a rectangular design with rounded edges and one hardware button in the middle or what? Some icon positions on the screen have also been declared to infringe on Apple's patents. To make the verdict even more ridiculous, the patent infringement for the design of the ipads, which basically claimed the same problem, that of a rectangular design with rounded edges, was dismissed by the jury. Imo that shows how pathetic the whole process is. Take another jury and you'll have another verdict, I'm pretty sure of that. Probably most of them were Apple users, as it's still très chic (just kidding) But seriously, 773 questions for the jury to think and discuss over, some of them so complex that even the lead judge had problems following some of the topics and now they needed only 3 days to settle over all those issues? But the fight will go on, no doubt, in the States and elsewhere. And I'm pretty confident that there will be different verdicts spoken in different countries...so there will probably be different truths all over the world In the countries where Apple will win that lawsuit, I can tell you that the prices for Apple products will even rise, as they will have the design monopol for a certain category of electronic gadgets and as most of the sheep put design over everything else, even at a higher price tag the things will fly from the shelves. The sad thing is, that initially I "rooted" for Samsung, in the meantime I learned about dubious practices at Samsung factories all around the world, where people are being exploited and work in dangerous conditions, similar or even worse than at Apple's supplier Foxconn. These days it doesn't really matter which big electronics company's product you own/buy, it's only a choice between the lesser of two evils

My favorite track by shift...and the original is still better than all of the remixes. Good thing though, in the recommendations on beatport was an EP by SA producer Tickets, released this year in June. Somehow I missed that and your review brought me there, so thanks!

Of course I do Damn leetspeek internet hax0r stuff. @radiWTF? Dude, I give up. You really don't get my points. Maybe it's the language barrier, maybe they're beyond your grasp, but frankly, I don't even care any longer.

Guess what? It's exactly the Astral Projection track I've named myself after here in this forum. I love AP and I love MFG and the oldschool stuff, I grew up with it! And why should I give myself a name of a newschool track? That's your problem...you're just soooooo narrow-minded and ignorant, it's really unbelievable. Regarding your line of argumentation...why would one have to take in account other peoples' opinion on a specific track in order to form a personal opinion about it? Especially when those people are no "insiders", i.e. people who don't listen to Goa Trance / Psytrance at all? That makes absolutely no sense. Why should I ask one of my friends, who for example only listen to Metal, Pop, whatever, ask about their opinion on a specific Goa Trance track. OF COURSE there is a very high probability they won't like it, because they're not into that music genre in the first place! But what does that say about the track itself? NOTHING! They'd probably say the same thing about tracks by Hallucinogen or Alienapia...it makes no difference because they're not into it, AT ALL. And don't try to tell me that you're showing the tracks to friends who are not into that genre at all...I won't believe you anyway. Why? Because no one does that, it makes no sense. EXCEPT you want to annoy other people and make them think "omg radi again with some tracks I don't want to listen to!". I like old Black Metal stuff very much, e.g. Vinterland, Limbonic Art, Emperor, but I love some new Post Black Metal stuff as well, e.g. Wolves In The Throne Room, Altar Of Plagues. Of all my real life friends, persons I meet face to face, NONE likes that music. Do I go to them saying "Hey you must listen to this awesome track, "The Loss and Curse Of Reverence" by Emperor. It's oldschool, but compare it to "Earth: As A Womb" by Altar Of Plagues. Awesome Post Black Metal, no? Which one do you like better?"?? No, I don't, because it makes no sense. Does it make any difference on my opinion about the music? No. If you really do that with oldschool and newschool Goa Trance and friends of yours, then you really have some issues. But the thing that really annoys me the most about your postings here is how you criticize newschool acts for not sounding like oldschool acts! I mean come on, how pathetic is that? WHY EVEN SHOULD THEY, TO BEGIN WITH? It's called newschool for fucks sake, it's not supposed to sound like the old stuff! What is the point in copying the old acts? Only so that you get to hear some more music you like? Again, that makes absolutely no sense. Have you ever heard about progress or change? From what I get about art - at least most of it - stagnation is a very undesirable thing to have in art, and that includes music as well. People evolve and most of the time their work does so with them. Hell, even Astral Projection, Electric Universe, Pleiadians, MFG, Hallucinogen evolved over time and - sometimes significantly - changed their style, often to the dislike of fans who came to prefer one special style that specific artist had in the past. But you know what? It's their right to evolve in every direction they want to, and it's the right of every listener to either like or dislike that. It's a matter of taste, nothing more, nothing less. Usually grown-up people accept it as a matter of fact that it cannot (should not) be argued about taste, but you, you won't stop there. You try to "argument" from an "objective" point of view, by "analyzing" a track, stating that it IS not good/not as good as old stuff or whatever - and that everyone HAS to see it that way. Because then you try to convince other people of your "objective analysis' results" by saying things like "Don't you see it has no key changes? Don't you see that the main melody starts already in the first minute of the track?", thereby stating that it's a bad track. You almost argument like there's some sort of specific formula that makes a track a good one. If that is so and if you know that formula or structure (you have to, because you're analyzing it, no?), then why don't you make some great oldschool tracks yourself? The tracks you posted here in order to get some opinions by other forum users were, as far as I remember them, boring, bland and repetetive AND most of the other people here thought the same. You complained that you earned more and positive reactions in other forums (or maybe even in "real life"?), but you know what? I don't believe you, again. Because for example the number of listens on your soundcloud suggest otherwise. Please show me the other reactions, radi! But on top of that, you really have the chutzpa to call other artitsts, who have earned themselves a very high reputation in the scene you claim to be a part of, who energized thousands of people on dancefloors all around the world, who brought joy to countless people through their music, and who actually sold CDs and tickets, to produce boring and repetetive stuff?! THAT is the thing YOU don't get, that YOU are disrespectful, ignorant and on top of that arrogant as well. I remember when you compared your music to Posford's work in one of the first threads after your "comeback", and even if you were so insightful not to claim to be as good as him, you don't seem to understand how FAR you really are away from producing music that is recognized by many people to be even remotely comparable to the newschool artists you so often criticise here, not to speak of landmark, genre defining masters as Posford is one of. I won't even start to comment further on your VERY strange point of view regarding "oriental" influences in newschool Goa Trance...really, it's just too strange. Still, you can have your opinion about everything, and you can even state it. But don't come here and try to convince others of it and don't act like it's the truth everybody is supposed to accept. Hell, you can even try that, as you like, but I'm pretty sure that you will provoke more negative reactions towards yourself - just so you aren't surprised in the end.

So what do you think about the new Kindzadza?
ion1zed replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
I don't know...somehow I miss the "flow", i.e. as soon as I start to get into the tracks, something doesn't evolve quite like I expect/want it to be. Superfast darkpsy/psycore in my book has to either flatten or totally pump me up, or trance the s*** out of me, e.g. flatten me: pump me up: or trance the s*** out of me: Making the latter kind of darkpsy is a really demanding task imo. So with the new kindzadza it feels like something in between...I cannot really describe it, which maybe is a good thing, as it's something fresh. But I cannot see myself either dance to it on any dancefloor or listen to it at home, sending my mind on a journey.
