Yeah that's something with the same kind of spirit to it!

I wonder if any of those nightpsy acts really refrain from using "hands-in-the-air" climaxes...I used to like that in the past, but not anymore. I figured that that kind of nightpsy was especially popular in Japan, at least at the time I stayed there. Acts like Khopat, Toxic, Alienn, B-55, Azax Syndrom, Phatmatix...you know the drill... But to me, the real kings of the night, maybe like Padmapani described them, are artists like E.V.P, RealityGrid and Archaic. Archaic has released another stunning album a short time ago, called "Sonic Driving". No cheese, no massive buildups, no hands-in-the-air-climaxes, just proper stomping psy. Downside: a lot of the tracks sound the same if you don't take your time listening to them...I'd call it the typical Wildthings sound. I love it though Archaic - Free-Quency Modulator http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo-KUo3Dkpo E.V.P - Hard Boiled Geometry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYNSEq4aLCk&feature=related Just check them out on youtube: Archaic (not the metal band, obviously), E.V.P, RealityGrid (basically they are both Alex Diplock since Avalon left RealityGrid (and Wildthings Records) for Nano Records), Neutral Motion, Error Corrective, Ajja, Parasense, maybe even some Dragon (e.g. Dark Matter). I don't know if all of those are really what you've been thinking of, Padmapani (or Veracohr), but maybe it's something you'd like.

But I'd probably not tag Ianuaria as "Dark Neogoa", but Alienapia (album: Goapocalipsis) would probably fit the bill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBbg_hQoFv4 Released on Space Baby Records, as well as Shiva3 (album: Space In The Woods) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mfHyd1qXvw&feature=related

Personally, I like Ianuaria a lot. Maybe it could be something for you, too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEhe6tr3T6Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zhsyn8uWNMk&feature=related <3 <3 <3

Not funny. Thanks for your insightful post. It's very interesting to hear about that, albeit a bit sad, too. I only talked to them once, only a few sentences, but they seemed sympathetic and kind. So, I still wish that the new album will reflect some of the passion, creativity and talent that those two guys still have, without a doubt.

To be honest, in a lot of videos I saw from AP in recent years, I got the impression that Lior was a bit bored during their performance. Avi seemed to enjoy it a lot more, at least that's what I thought when I saw them. I don't know how much money they make, and I also don't know if they both have the possibility to earn their livings in another way than making music - and selling it. Anyway it would be really sad if they don't enjoy what they're doing anymore, so my hopes for the new album are that it will be released, will be good and will bring back some of the fun they used to have.

That's interesting info. When did they stop liking their music? Was it before or after "Amen"? And does that even count for their (hopefully) upcoming album? Btw I'm not making jokes about them...
-
How do you know that?
-
I didn't say people should like what AP produce nowadays...I just don't understand why a lot of people only mock them. I mean, most of their output since 2002 really isn't that great, it's average stuff. But I liked "The Prophecy" and what I've heard of the upcoming album (if it will be released, who knows) and their Jarre remixes. Those tracks clearly demonstrate that they haven't lost their genuine sense for great atmosphere and melody. I think the main reason for people bitching about AP and showing no respect (my main point of criticism) is that the same persons loved them back in the days and couldn't stand the fact that they developed their musical style into another direction and thus felt "betrayed". I'm not saying people should like AP, but I think they don't deserve all the spite...
-
To be honest, I'll never understand people bitching about AP and their works, because most of their releases were nothing less than genre defining, future influencing, stellar works of art. So why all the hate? Even their less popular tracks such as "1 Million Years From Today" or "Techno Drome" are so unique, so uniquely trancy, so special, no other act is comparable to that kind of style. I look forward to any of their releases, because thw godfathers of psytrance might shut all the haters up once and for all....

I agree with most of what you've written, though "Time Jump" is an A in my book, and "Andes" an A-. If he would've mixed the best tracks from "Horn Please" and "Portuguese Abduction" into one album, it'd have been one of the great classics of all time.

Ahh...I still listen to this one on such a regular basis. Whenever there's a new release in the "Neo-Goa" genre, I have to compare it to this one, and I have to say that none matches Goapocalipsis' quality. No other act has the energy, the darker approach, the super-acidic atmosphere, the sci-fi (Cybernetika does a different kind of psy) setting...it's just magnificient and I can't wait for the next releases by this outstanding duo. By the way, this is your best review, Trance2MoveU. The fact that you didn't use your gif-attacks just reflects the serious badass quality of this album

new cybernetika psy tune preview (2011)
ion1zed replied to Cybernetika's topic in Free Music Promotion
When oh when will you finally perform your awesome music live at some party? The new excerpt already sounds more than promising...noone does the sci-trance like you -
There are some goatrance tracks that could set me in a melancholic mood, old ones being Boris Blenn's "Portamento", or Brain Accent with "Orange Acid". Interestingly, both are on the same compilation, VA - Pulse Vol. 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te3wQDTWgnk I don't know if it's your cup of tea, but I like melancholic Psytrance a lot. Some psy and even full-on producers have some pretty good tracks in that vein, e.g. SA producer Tickets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-xoeONwXlc&feature=related "Tinnitus" or "Existence" are other tracks on the same album, featuring some 8-bit-ish sounds, that remind me of old, melancholic C64 sid tunes. Another producer with some very good moody and melancholic tracks is RAZ. Check out tracks like "Unknown chapter". Bitkit or Tristan made some melancholic tracks, too, e.g. "Tunnelvision" by the former and "If Only" by the latter. But I think it really comes down to taste or certain elements in a given track, that make them somehow "melancholic" in the ears of a given listener.

I voted for Dark, mainly because I had the best party experiences at nighttime and because I LOVE the light FX at night. If I just had to vote depending on my listening habits, I'd probably have to say "Both", though.

Yesss...was waiting for the digital download. Not that I dislike CDs, but they only collect dust...and there's lots of it

Pretty good stuff. Sometimes even excellent. Sometimes the flow is ruined by too many breaks imo, though.
-
While some do sound similar to me, I try to concentrate on the outstanding ones. What about Alienapia for example?

I don't like modern CGI and wire stuff, too. The only martial arts action films that REALLY flashed me and reinvigorated my love for the genre, have been "Flash Point" and "Kill Zone", both starring Donnie Yen as main actor. Flash Point final fight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSv9EHXPd1c Kill Zone - Yen vs. Jing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wwnmBqPloM Will never get tired watching the fight scenes of those two movies. I liked the two "Ip Man" movies as well, but I enjoy modern settings a bit more. If you haven't seen those two movies, I highly recommend them! They are both full of awesome action scenes and stunt work. But if I had to name one fighting scene, which is the best imo, I probably would have to pick the restaurant scene from "Tom Yum Goong" with Tony Jaa. It's just sooo unbelievably good.

Trinodia - Human History (UAFR019)
ion1zed replied to Imba's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Niiiice...the title track is my favorite so far! Awesome cover artwork. //Edit says that "Time and Gravity" and "Inspired Brains" already sound excellent as well! -
I am sitting on a high horse here? Don't think so. I just don't accept your invalid arguments. If it comes down to a matter of taste, fine, I'll probably never be arguing about that, but don't mistake your taste (and few examples as base for a generalization) for a fact, that's pretty much everything I am trying to say.
-
Btw I'm going to see him performing live this year in Cologne! \o/

Why don't you admit an incorrect or inaccurate use of the English language in your original post when you said that darkpsy IS random. It's not, period. If it sounds random to you, well, like Rotwang said, that's fine. It's your opinion or taste, not a fact. A fact is, that darkpsy isn't random, although it may sound random to people, including you. About (all) darkpsy being "satanic". Again, you're wrong. What is "satanic" by the way? The cover of the "Speed Demon" compilation? To me that looks more like some kind of Japanese painting, possibly depicting a (malevolent?) deity, maybe an Oni. That has nothing to do with being satanistic. You shouldn't be so quick at making generalizations, as that is almost always a sign of either people having no clue about the topics they're talking about, their lack of ability to delve into something, or the lack of interest to do so. Another case would be trolling, of course. In any of those cases, people should refrain from posting in the first place...imo. The problem in this case is - at least in my opinion - that Rotwang seems to be a rather "exact" person, which is possibly related to his interest in science In this discussion about your statement, that "darkpsy IS random/incoherent", Rotwang and Ormion used nothing else than arguments based on facts, and you did not.

Nice review! Best buy of the year so far. An awesome album with my favorite tracks being "Secluded Trails" and "Last Day Of The Butterfly".
