  1. It was planned for them to play in Athens on the 23rd of August it but was cancelled along with a couple of concerts in Turkey (for terrorism/political reason there) so I'll get to hear the new album live in November when they'll visit us again. Testament is one of the VERY VERY few old thrash bands that are still making quality music. IMHO the most impressive Thrash metal band ATM is Vektor.... Honestly, it's groundbreaking stuff.
  2. Coincidentally, they are also playing in Athens in about 2 weeks but it's not really my thing
  3. At the 17th of September we have this beast of a show in Athens: Smoke The Fuzz Fest: Yob, Bongzilla, Dopethrone, Sons Of Otis, Black Cobra, Suma, Love Sex Machine This is a dream line up for people into Stoner, Doom, Sludge, Southern Metal (like me). How often in Europe do you see so many North American bands in one night (and I'm not talking about festivals)....not often. I can't wait Also we have a Finnish invasion in a couple of months (I'm sure Anu will know these bands): HEXVESSEL / ORANSSI PAZUZU @ ATHENS 11.11.2016 I really like ORANSSI PAZUZU although I have no idea what the lyrics are about.... I like the electronica/industrial influences in their music.
  4. also: MWNN, most of California sushine, some of Asia 2001 & on more modern stuff: Bubble, AKD, some Gaudium, afgin
  5. Jaia's - Blue energy is a very summery album Most of the stuff from Blue Planet corporation that's what comes in my head now
  6. OMG.... I've been discovered!! I revealed my identitaaaa!
  7. WooooW that's exactly what I wanted to post!!!!!!! I'm also a goat rancher, since my mother-in-law has a small herd of goats! My grumpiness comes from the high standards that I have for ALL genres. I always say: -Why go to an average Psy event when 3 streets down the road there's a live venue playing quality rock or metal -Why listen to an average metal record (ahem... new metallica... ahem) when there's an excellent reggea/dub album around -Why go to any bar/club that plays shitty music just for the sake of going out (well it helps that I have a very good sound system at home) Anyway, there's always good music around..... so who cares!
  8. I don't know if you can really call it a fetish... but I want to try all different kind of drugs, chemicals and herbs that come out or already exist, just to have an opinion on them. I'm not a big drug user... quite the contrary, of almost all my friends I'm the only one that doesn't like cannabis, cocaine,MDMA,most amphetamines and I smoke tobacco very little... Now that I think about it, it's because I'm so picky that I want to try all those things and find the ones that truely fit my character/brain/body. The same goes with alcohol, I don't like wine, vodka, gin, most blonde beers, ouzo, all whiskeys (except bourbons). I adore Bacardi but dislike most other rums. I have a wierd taste on mind altering stuff.... On the other had, I eat everything... I've even eaten insects, snake, turtle and other wierd stuff in Asia and Australia.
  9. To me it's kind of the opposite... Since I've been listening to Goa and Psy for ~15 years now I seem to crave to listen to other kind quality music (although to be honest, psychedelic electonica is the ony kind of music that I can listen all day long without getting tired). I've been going to a lot of rock and metal gigs as well as my usual summer hedonistic pass-time: Beach bars that play house and techno (when the sunc comes down), always nice to see young half-naked bodies dancing... and joining them of course.... the music is acceptable but the sexuality is over the charts!!!! I've also been re-discovering the early dance masters (Orbital, FSOL etc) and I'm always amazed by their creativity and the fact that they could put so much emotion in their tracks. However, I mostly like to discover new stuff... For example I went to a mini festival with a lot of new and some more-established Greek bands and the whole crowd was amazed by a new Greek Band (only their first record) called We.Own.The.Sky, it was a 3 day festival and everyone was talking about them after it, both online and at the campsite!
  10. Well... I had the pleasure of listening to David (1/4 of the original crew) as BoTFB on January and indeed it was totally awesome. Best event for 2016 so far for me.... totally engaging and intellingent yet quirky and fun! So thumbs up for BoTFB from me!
  11. Dice radio from Greece has a mix of various styles and often hosts famous DJs. Usually ambient and techno or house throught the day. At nights there's Psy,goa and prog depending on the day. http://www.diceradio.gr/
  12. Some of my friends (obviously older than me) have been in the Goa/Psy/Trance scene since it's very early steps in Greece (1993ish) when the artists we now admire were doing their first steps (joti, max, frankie, tsyoshi, james monro, tristan ...) and since it was all underground and there was hardly any money been made, they often had to host the artists at their houses or at their friends' vacation homes by the beach or the mountains. They have a lot of stories about cocaine-induced private/home parties, especially a ritual they had where they sniffed coke from spinning vinyl. Anyway, I find it very wierd that cocaine seems to have a universal appeal, from Pop to metal and electronic music. I never liked it and I always say : "If you do coke, you don't respect your own sweat (in the money-making sense)". As for the topic, I think it's really a symptom of all kinds of music styles. At the beginning everything is formless and innovative but as the years go by it goes into forms and boxes and it's not easy for people to think out-of-the-box especially if they don't have other musical influences or musical education. Also, I think that the goa/psytrance crowd are just as narrow minded as metal-heads, indie-rockers, hip-hopers, technoers... I believe it's a universal thing, you see it everywhere, very few people actually expand their horizons into listening other stuff.
  13. A few old geezers from Athens are starting to plan a trip to Spain for Connection 2016!
  14. I'll just throw my 2 cents here: You are discussing too much about a very subjective matter, there's no point in it! I tried to follow your discussion but I realised it's pointless and I'd rather glare out of my window since it's a beautiful day here in sunny Greece and if I wasn't working I'd probably be swimming!
  15. I had tottally forgotten about this thread (although not the girl!). She actually became an actress and even played in a couple of nationwide TV commercials and theatre plays in Athens. My fiancee' was, one day. reading the newspaper and she yells at me " Look it's the psycho-bimbo-actress" , there was an article about an art exhibition in Mykonos (Cosmopolitan Greek gay-friendly party island) and she was being mentioned with some photos. She's now married in New York, I'm very curious to know who married her. My fiancee comes to all the parties and concerts that I go to, but she doen't really get the music that I listen to (all kinds of music not just electronica), the best thing is that she doesn't drink or do drugs so I always have someone to drive me back home and I don't have to resort to using public transport or taxis! At home, since I'm the house owner, I listen as much music as I want, as loud as I want!
  16. Someone's gotten old..... Anyway, despite the heavy rain outside, it was a good night. I had a cold so at some point I got very tired and sleepy. Strangely the only interesting electronica event coming up is Aes Dana at the end of Feb. Nothing else so far.
  17. Quite a wierd coincidence this is... On Saturday (16/01/2016) one of the guys was present at the BoTFB live in Athens and Dave mentioned that he was very happy to meet him. I guess if you want to find them, you have to contact Haris Papadimitriou (It the place/freeze magazine/ultimae records)
  18. I saw "Joy" last night. Starts slow and boring but it's very well acted. It's a nice fell-good film! Looking forward to the Revant. I'll download the h8ful 8 since Tarantino annoys me and I've read mixed reviews.
  19. I went to the Greek premiere in costume with my fiancee and two cousins. I'm not a huge Star Wars fans but we had a blast. The film was ok, can't say that I was blown away, it has more of a sentimental value. I like them in this order 4,6,5,7,3,2,1 Here are some photos, we had light sabre fights with the Jedis as we were all Dark Lords. I was surpised that there were a lot of girls in Jedi costumes too. I was Darth maul with a Yoda lightsaber
  20. We have this beaty in Athens this weekend: Looking forward to it. Dave back in Greece after 16 years!
  21. Hmmmm very nice question. Khetzal has a quite distinctive sound: Melodic/Eastern flavoured but not cheesy Ubar atmar/Joujouka I could say that Aes Dana kind of created a whole new sound, I'd say it "Ultimae style" which has been imitated by many nowadays but initially it was unique Shaolin Wooden Men - that's some tottaly wierd stuff Edit: Psyko Disko as well
  22. Hey guys, are you up for another meeting at Twisted next year?????? I guess they'll have a 20 year party, I mean come on, they've had one almost every year the past decade, don't think they'll miss their 20th bday. It usually takes place around the 26th of October when it's Simon's and twisted's bday. There's a traditional fait that I've been going to the past years up the Greek mountains, but I'll skip it for the Twisted bday! I'm definetly not missing it if it takes place. The 2006 party, despite the overcrowding, was awesome in the goa room and also had some great sets at the main room (and some awful ones.... cough transwave cough, cough total eclipse cough). Of course it was an honour to meet a lot of the psynews guys. Some I've also met again at Younger Brother live, Shpongle live, Aurora festival Greece, in Antwerp at the royal tennis club and probably bumped at but couldn't recognise at SUN festivals 2013 and 2014.
  23. I think my eye caught the poster on facebook a few months ago. Well, the psy stage had some decent names. I also know Dimitri Vegas from somewhere..... let me check. Actually I'm wrong, I was thinking of a decent techno DJ but this Dimitri Vegas is just crap
