Perfect example of different tastes that make the world go round. I thought the Hux Flux remake was one of the not so great tracks. The remix of the Abomination track was a cracker and the first three tracks were pretty hypnotic. I guess this stirs up the age old debate, "What is Psychedelic?" Haven't heard it yet (still I plan to buy it; I'm a sucker for any and all goa releases) but I noticed that 3 tracks are already available on compilations. Add to the fact that there is a short intro and outro, that means only 5 new tracks. For a debut album? What gives?

I think it's awesome that of all the psytrance releases, it is consistently goa trance that receives the highest acclaim. This is higher music. Love it. Mdk

What disc is this you ask? Space No More by Wizack Twizack. This is an unrelenting assault on the senses. Sure Dead End was great, but this? This artist must have made a deal with the devil, because mere mortals cannot make music like this. It is powerful, melodic and soooo deep. I cannot stop listening to this. Congrats Mr. Axelsson this is an absolute masterpiece. People, I cannot recommend this highly enough. I would do a review but I haven't come down from the clouds yet. :clapping: Mdk

The drug days for me are long over, but I agree to fully appreciate it, you have to be in the mood for it. I think as of now I prefer downtempo or something with a beat as I can feel the changes in the music. Mdk

That's a good way to put it. As I delve farther into the album, there is more than just spacey pads that go on for 32 measures, and that helps. But, slowing down time is very applicable. I have never heard music that typifies what it must be like to be adrift in space. Mdk

I'm listening to Numina- Transparent Planet and while it is beautiful with spacious, floating pads I'm wondering why. Is it's sole purpose to b a soundtrack when going to sleep? It's hard to listen to as I find myself losing focus, trying to follow the melody. With droning pads it just seems so ponderously slow. With no beats to ground me, I feel like a balloon that is being carried away by the wind. Does anyone enjoy this other than at night? Mdk

This is very smooth! I feel like I am at the polar ice caps. The higher frequency tones give me a cold feeling, but the pads keep me nice and toasty. Great stuff! Mdk

This deserves a bump. This release is as solid as they come. My favorites were Angelina and Can You See This. Beautiful ambient and downtempo music and it's free. You have nothing to lose. Now, once you get hooked by this release, you must go to his site. He has several more releases that you can download and you get to name your own price. That being said, once you read the info regarding his friend Jorgen Bryde, I defy you not to give back to an artist that gives so much. Mdk

First thanks for sharing and welcome to Psynews! I love long intros, and that wobbly bass in the first track is awesome. I would love to hear what the long version sounded like. It's juicy and gurgly. Nice! I know it is unmastered and it sounds like the kick needs some more punch. The second track is so short (just a taste) but the sounds are crystal clear and I love the kick roll. Sort of Bypass Unit style. I like how the goa melody sneaks in behind the pad. Sweet. Maybe the hi-hats need to be a little louder... 3rd track has a nice industrial feel. A nice dirty bass, and I like the final melody....sounds good. 4th track sound juicy as well, love that. This one sounds the most "goa" to me. Very spiritual. Me likey. Mike A at Cronomi might like this as your vision of goa is not the sun drenched melodic beaches of India, but more of a darker, sinister side. There is some definite potential here. No matter how many times I started it, I just couldn't make it through to the end. So I tried something different and listened to it in reverse. Not Freddy is a devil heavy metal music reverse, I just started at track 9 and worked my way backward. I'm not going to tell you that I was rewarded with an epiphany, or that the artist should've reorganized the way the tracks were laid out. But this worked for me. It put me in the right mode to hear what they had to offer, and I felt like my mind was ready to accept it. Like the Transformers, Reality Grid combine to form a super project. It is Alex Diplock (E.V.P.) & Leon Kane (Avalon.) Wildthings Records is from London and they specialize in hi-tech, full on trance that doesn't have a lot of melodies. I knew that going in and I think that was part of the reason I couldn't fathom this release. At first. This music is cold. Very digital and robotic sounding. There are effects everywhere as they blip and blop over always heavy beats. There are lots of gurgling metallic leads. In the same vein, melodies are few and far between, but that's ok. What is on display here is the energy. Due to the lack of melodies, they rely on effects to create the mood and they do it very well. If you've heard their previous effort than you know what you are getting into and what to expect. All the tracks are groovy, and the effects really do their job. I don't think I have ever enjoyed an album without melodies so much. The only problem when you construct an album this way is that all of the tracks tend to sound the same. Some people will hate that. I am not one of them. The cool thing is that the groove is on point, so with every repeated listen you hear something new that adds to the track. And let me tell you, this disc is loaded with sounds. The samples included are all scientific and feed into that futuristic feel. If they start to incorporate melodies into their music, watch out because these guys would be unstoppable. That being said, I still enjoyed this very much. Psyshop Mdk

I missed the boat when it first came around, so with the revitalization of the scene, I have been scrounging all my monies to try and collect all the releases that I can. There was nothing like that era. I missed it so I live vicariously through the music and you guys as you describe how it was. I'm not here to get into whether new school goa has the same spirit or flavor as the masters as that has been debated ad nauseum. I came across this gem and felt that it should be represented here. Like most of the labels from that time, Yo Yo records no longer exists. Back in their prime, they released some of the pillars of the goa trance genre. A look here will show you what I mean. Everyone knows about the Goa Head series, the Trancentral discs and numerous other compilations that brought Goa music to the forefront. This release collects tracks that were not the first ones that would come to mind when you would mention the artist's name. Most were available on EP's or other compilations, but they were hard to find. The cover is so beautiful with it's brilliant colors and screams sunshine, tribal mysticism and all of what I imagine the goa era to be. "Ancient Lands" by Sheyba is a classic, with its almost 12 minute length, signature wolf cries and tribal percussive elements. "Rejuvination" brings a harder edge than I am used to with Technossomy combining techno bits with that goa sound. "Fear" is set up by an almost orchestral intro before plunging into a high octane goa/trance hybrid. The 303 screams on Doof's rework of the Hallucinogen classic "LSD." You can hear a trace of the original, but only just. The "Deus" remix from Goa trance masters Cosmosis is a bit of a pensive, drifting piece that is less in your face and more mental. Odds "Flying to the Sky" wastes no time piling up the layers and isn't subtle. The last three tracks I had never heard before and after listening to them (hoping to discover a gem that EVERYONE overlooked!) I came away with the feeling of; "meh, they're nothing special." So all in all, there are better artist albums and also better compilations that I am sure all of you have heard. I was still happy in getting this however, because I had never heard of it. When you see a track list like that it truly invigorates you, and the adrenaline was pumping thinking I might have stumbled across a hidden treasure. Especially after seeing how highly it was ranked on Discogs. I imagine that the ranking is inflated due to its rarity. Also, the artwork alone is really nice to look at. Mdk

Perfect music for a rainy day. "Cold and the Crackle" is an awesome opus. Mdk

Artist: Vaishiyas Title: Satisflaxion Label: Spintwist Records Date: November, 2009 1. Hold On 2. Intensity 3. Shift 4. Sen Sen Sen (With Audiomatic) 5. Satisflaxion 6. Empty Pages 7. Fakes 8. SL Mk 9. Axon and John 10. Voice Mode Spintwist is another label which produces the smooth vibes of progressive trance.Vaishiyas are German trance project Hannes Klitta & Daniel Gundlach who released "Action Flaxion" in 2008 which was a great album. They have also been on a number of compilations and have established a good following. This is their 4th full length release. "Hold On" is a psygressive track with a very big beat. The rhythm is catchy and I found myself bobbing my head through the whole song. Not a lot of variation or an epic break,, just one of those phrases that can carry it to the end. Nice opening. "Intensity" shows a definite house influence with it's repeated sample, but it fits well and is not overbearing. There are washes in the break, giving it a far away feeling, but then the groove comes back in spades. Again, not a lot, but sometimes less can be more. "Shift" is an exceedingly boring track. F-I-L-L-E-R. "Sen Sen Sen" is a track that has a little help from his pal Audiomatic. This one seems a little more spacious, and still has a nice bass line giving it backbone. Nothing special, but a nice one nonetheless. The title track repeats the same blueprint with average results. Meh. "Empty Pages" comes across as more aggressive, with layers, but once again, it doesn't really go anywhere. "Fakes" is the largest track on the album, and it uses reverb to create that spaciousness I love. Nice track, but it still feels like something is missing. Ok, I stopped reviewing each track because they all started to sound the same. To be more accurate, they followed the same equation and most of the tracks seemed to be lacking. One thing I noticed is that they like their washes. They are in almost every track. In every break. They are an effect, a tool used to enhance the music, but if overused, it no longer enhances but detracts. If you like them, then this is the disc for you. Another thing in abundant supply is the big fat kicks. Couple that with simple yet effective bass lines and you've got a recipe for groove. So why am I still hungry? For starters, there isn't a lot of variation. Since the formula is rather simple, there really isn't any way a track can evolve. There aren't a lot of melodies and effects (other than the washes) seem to be kept to a minimum so no atmosphere is created. This is a disc that focuses on groove and not a lot else. If that is what you're looking for, then you would probably enjoy this. If you're looking for a deeper more elaborate melodic progressive fix, I can recommend other releases that will satisfy you. T3ali (Come to me) For my money German label Iono Music is one of if not the best label for progressive trance music. The vast majority of their releases provide spacious and inviting trance that is laden with effects and consist of dreamy breaks. To that effect, I have been trying to get my hands on a lot of their catalog. Every now and then though, a star doesn't burn as brightly. I wasn't bowled over with the Ix Lam At offering as I found it rather empty and boring. Nasser is Nasser Halahly from Israel and this is his debut. While I can see some potential in his compositions, I feel he suffers from the same thing that Ix Lam At did. There isn't a lot going on with his tracks. They all pretty much stay in the safe comfort zone. No twists, no turns, just run of the mill progressive trance. Vanilla, really with no track evolution. I did enjoy "Timeless" though as it seemed more ethereal with a melancholic tone. I'm not telling you that this is a bad album (the sounds are crystal clear), but when you compare it with other Iono product it's just not as strong. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk

Broken 8. Rising Twilight 9. Before I sleep N.A.S.A. is Mikkel Rasmussen from Denmark who released his first track all the way back in 2001. He totally flew under my radar as I had never heard of him. I trust Iono Music completely, so when they put an artist's debut album on the table, chances are good I'm going to buy it. Let me tell you, this record isn't bad at all. He likes to put techno or electro touches into his tracks. But that is not all he can do. "Scattered Ties" was so funky that it's a shame it wasn't longer. You can tell he's got talent in this arena even if a few tracks were nothing special. His vision of progressive trance is fine, but I don't think that's where his future lay. The stars of this disc are the last two downtempo tracks. They are ultra deep and gush with emotional layers. There are spiraling arpeggios, thunderous kicks, and delicate synths that are as soft as a feather. He made wonderful use of pads, and the synths created a dreamy ominous atmosphere. I had to make sure this was still the same CD! Sure enough it was, and those tracks were a delight. If he decides to make an album full of music like the last two tracks, I will be first in line to buy it. So this was a good listen, and while his progressive stylings are decent, his forte seems to be in the downtempo arena. Good start! Beatspace Mdk
