"We are still here!" Yes, but why? The bassline in Isis Crisis is too obnoxious to take and a lot of the full-on isn't anything to write home about. Love me some sHifT, but I bet even he would say this wasn't his strongest track. And it was the best one on here. Ormion nailed it though when he said it would fit perfectly on his Excession album. I really like the South African style, but this stuff doesn't really hold up to other albums from other South African labels. But sh*t man...it was 2004, so...I ain't mad at ya.

Artist: Circular Title: Moon Pool Label: Ultimae Records Date: July, 2014 1. Lunokhod 2. Selenic Light 3. Theory of Tides 4. Ashlands 5. Three Moons 6. Imbrium (featuring AES Dana) 7. Synchronous 8. Meteorites "You think you're safe? You are not." The wizards at Ultimae strike again with the latest album from this Norwegian duo. I usually only collect goa, but this label has produced so much quality music that I'm thinking of jumping on the Ultimae bandwagon. That loud "F*ck you!" was from my wallet. And probably my wife also if she ever finds out. Just a few notes... Lunokhod begins as an ambient piece with drifting sounds and emotions for most of it's 13 minute length before a steady thumping kick drives it home. Great opener that blends real world instruments, electronics, and nature sounds. Selenic Light is a massive glacier of shimmering sound reflecting the sunlight right into your eyes. Nary a beat to be found. Theory of Tides is another atmospheric gem that tickles the abstract before it also delivers a steady kick after a lengthy ambient beginning. Deliciously long and satisfying. Ashlands is the most aggressive track yet with a churning, bubbling cauldron of forlorn melodies and electronic sounds. 3 Moons has a deep bass that provides the framework for the smile inducing melody and the bubbling 303 rumbling underneath. You have to strain to hear it, but that draws me deeper into the music. Imbrium featuring Aes Dana is a glitchy track with strong dub overtones. Distorted almost, but it became more enjoyable once the beat disappeared. Imbrium flows right into Synchronous and at the outset is cosmic ambient at its finest. All the layers are perfect, a true front row seat to the moving galaxy. The beat kind of ruins it for me though and it becomes too cluttered. Meteorites closes it out with a very positive and hopeful track that combines the cosmic atmosphere and the sounds of nature. A very good album that I will certainly come back too. Relaxing and thought provoking. Ultimae Psyshop

Artist: Trinitix Title: Aspeclaria Label: Sigma Records Date: April, 2005 1. Moira (Rmx) 2. Aspeclaria 3. Eskimo - Popcorn (Trinitix Rmx) 4. Trinitix Vs. Electro Nation - Black Hole 5. Trinitix Vs. Hypersonic - Psychedelic Samurai 6. Trinitix Vs. Star-X - Wakannai 7. La Musica 8. I'm U R DJ (Live Mix) 9. Let's DUI (Live Mix) There are certain projects and albums that will be better remembered for their album art than for whatever is located inside. May I introduce to you one such creature. What do you get when you cross two titans of the full-on genre Holymen and Dynamic? Full-on sandwich with a side of full-on. Triplet bass lines, melodies of the cheesy variety, multiple drug samples, and an echo on the kick drum to begin the track. Basically your full-on starter pack. The music is no worse than your regular generic full-on, but also no better. By the way if you're wondering how many times full-on was written the answer is 7. But that cover tho! Psyshop

Great review. Normally an EP with remixes of the same track is a bit of a no go for me as they all tend to sound the same, but it's not the case here. The original track is a superb blaster layered with melodies and loaded with dynamism. All the mixes are great and not carbon copies. As mentioned the JIS remix is the one that suffers the most as it had to follow the original and Renato's take. Still a great track on it's own, just gets a little lost. The LSD remix is a stellar companion to the original and probably my favorite here. Powerful and lush it rockets through space leaving shimmering melody trails in its wake. And because Cactus Arising follows LSD he suffers the same fate as the JIS mix. Good track on its own, but the victim of poor placement. Closing things out is the didgeridoo based slow version at a lengthy 12 minutes. The slow, plodding beat is hypnotic and a quality comedown from the speedy stuff without sacrificing the lovely details. This is a great EP and I can't wait for his next album.

"Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears...right about now!" Or just, I dunno...turn over and hide under the pillow. Yeah that'll work. Right here is proof that not everything ages well. Wine...I'll give you that. Halle Berry...yep. But this...nope. First there is nothing really goa to be found here and that's fine. Certainly there is good psytrance, but man I had to pinch myself to stay awake during this. The music is like a transition from minimal to the full-on version of psytrance. The early version. Not a lot of melodies to speak of and I personally didn't find any atmosphere to speak of. Just not a lot here. I'm going back to bed.

Artist: Astrix Title: He.Art Label: HOM-Mega Productions Date: February, 2016 1. Shamanic Tales 2. Deep Jungle Walk 3. Alien Turned Human 4. Valley of Stevie (with Ace Ventura) 5. He.Art 6. Agate (with Ritmo) 7. Sapana (Album Version) 8. Awake The Snake (with Tristan) 9. Juno Reactor - Conquistador (Astrix Remix) 10. He.Art (Continuous Mix) Jeez, get a room. Used to love He-man. Had all the action figures (call them dolls and I'm gonna punch you in the face). Beast-man, Skeletor...even had Castle Grayskull. Looking back I never realized how homo-erotic those things were. Figured they just had a lot of muscles, and the tv show didn't help. But like a lot of sh*t you outgrow it. Soon girls became the main focus and no chick is going to date a dude who has a bunch of these things lying around. Like those toys, I feel I also outgrew Astrix. Sure I loved Eye to Eye when it came out, but musical tastes change and listening to it now just leaves me wanting more. Doesn't hold up, and while he was always into the full-on, he seems to have acquired an even more commercial sound with subsequent albums. So when this was passed on to me I gave it the full Leonard Nimoy. It says Astrix on the cover, but this doesn't sound like him. Hell listening to the uber-long opener it sounds like he kidnapped Simon Posford and got him duct taped in the trunk. Very tribal and mystical with loads of changes. Deep Jungle continues the deeper exploration of sound and it's very refreshing. Valley of Stevie was a more aggressive style of full-on and Sapana had a bunch of weird sounds, but finished on a strong, growly note. And that break was sick. I liked where he was going with the Conquistador remix, even after the triplets showed up. The whole album is deeper and more detailed than expected. Sure sometimes he reverts back to the full-on dude we always knew him to be (He.Art, Awake the Snake), but this was a really great effort that I didn't see coming. If you get the CD you get artwork of course, a sticker, and a poster. If you get the digital format you get a continuous mix of the entire album. Decisions decisions. Beatspace Psyshop

Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Emotions From A Beija Flor Label: Good Dance Recordings Date: August, 2016 1.Jonni Dongju - Lion Savannah 07:07 2.Mana Source - Samurai 06:28 3.Tanzaku - Tanabata 06:56 4.Gankyil - Dhyani 06:25 5.Mana Source - Weevils Fly 06:22 6.Chynacid - Zen Dimensions 07:07 7.Medusis - Profound 07:40 8.Amithaba Buddha - Psyramid 07:53 9.Mana Source - Bonsai 07:13 10.Athenaia - Secret 06:38 11.Rainbow Islands - Seventh Heaven 06:08 Now this type of deja vu I don't mind. The Filipe Santos recycled greatest hits tour continues with his latest digital release. As I mentioned before in other reviews of his work I believe him to be more machine than man, churning out so many quality goa trance tracks that it defies imagination. The music is pure uptempo, melodic, layered goa and normally he intersperses some new tracks amidst the older stuff. Not today Gertrude. All have been released before, but from top to bottom this album is a blistering affair. Not a single dull moment to be found and one of the best collections of his music to date in my opinion. He should comment less on forums and get back to doing this type of stellar work, we'd all be better for it I'll tell you. I'm especially thankful for the Psyramid track as I had forgotten how utterly bad ass it was! My other favorite is Weevils Fly, a full-throated screamer of a track. Aside from the horrible cover (and let's be honest it's been a run of those) this thing is damn near flawless. Highly recommended. Good Dance Recordings

Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Zamaneh Sanguine Label: Good Dance Recordings Date: August, 2016 1. Washi - Shodo 2. Amithaba Buddha - Regain Control 3. Athenaia - Orphic Mysteries 4. Gankyil - Le Labyrinthe De La Grisaia 5. Pandemonium! - Sequoia 6. Ba'al - Profane 7. Pandemonium! - Clown In A Bag 8. Lost Buddha - Spiral Rotation 9. Pandemonium! - Wishing Machine 10. Amithaba Buddha - Uncharted Planet 11. Sphere of Consciousness - Sphere of Consciousness Bipolar disorder is no joke. Mood swings that can be severe, lasting months and is oftentimes hard to diagnose. Panic attacks. Real ones, not the ones we suffer when we go someplace without wi-fi. This is apparently what Filipe was struggling with and would definitely explain his behavior over the years. Hopefully that's in the past and with his medication here's to wishing him good health and progress. We know the type of music Filipe makes and the fact that he's been this productive is a testament to his talent. With one of his latest Zamaneh Sanguine combines Chinese and Arabic to mean "Time to be Optimistic." And if you've struggled with depression or bipolar disorder then any bit of optimism you can find is cherished like water in the desert. Although that cover doesn't look very optimistic. Perhaps he's closing the door on his demons and not looking back. The trend with Filipe's music as of late has been to make compilations where most of the tracks have been released before. Before you characterize that as a cash grab, I offer you this. He has been making music for over a decade and perhaps some of the tracks didn't measure up to today's production standards. Possibly due to his condition, he would often create a label and release some music and then just as quickly it would disappear. So for those who didn't purchase or have access to the treasure trove I see this as a positive. Also some of them you can't even find. The older tracks have been re-rendered (clearing up some vocal samples) and remastered with him adding some things where he thought necessary. He chose some of his favorites to put on this album along with one track that to my knowledge only showed up on the digital Cosmic Disorder compilation from 2007. Yep, Clown In A Bag. The new tracks are exactly what you'd expect from Filipe. Brutish power and layers of melody packaged in a seamless bundle. Shodo is a blistering opener while Orphic Mysteries races with abandon. Really blissful. New Gankyil always brings a smile and this plows straight ahead with some snap and pop. Profane delivers more of the same with a playful lead. I'll be honest with you. I can't tell an Amithaba Buddha from a Lost Buddha; and I wouldn't know a the difference between a Pandemon ium! and a Chynacid. The music is super and perfect if you want to build your Filipe Santos collection. Great taste of a bunch of his projects. Good luck with further releases and also with your recovery. Artist: Commercial Hippies Title: If You Can't Stand The Heat... Label: Nano Records Date: 2006 1. Loose Control 2. If You Can't Stand The Heat... 3. ...Get Out of the Chai Room 4. Dr. Freakenstein 5. No More Nights 6. 3 Star Hotel 7. Where Dreams Come From (Technological Rennaisance Edit) 8. Organic Machines 9. The Unconventionalist "It's funny...the world is so different in the daylight. But in the dark your fantasies get so out of hand. " No. No. No. Don't want any girl scout cookies. Where is your mother? Back when Nano records artists didn't make the same track over and over again, they were solid producers of elaborate full-on. Yes there really is such a thing. This is the debut from the Hippies and a decade on it still sounds fresh as a daisy. Back when there was a seemingly never ending tsunami of full-on releases this came along with loads of dynamism. It churns and burns with layers of sound as melodies dance across power rhythms. There's also plenty of effects to give it a lush sound and the sample work is effective without being intrusive. Reminds me of Protoculture and what do you know? His brother is one half of this duo. So based purely on genetics you would assume that he won't be drooling all over the equipment with his underwear on the outside of his pants. Now I cannot independently verify that that didn't happen, but this music is engaging and mostly devoid of what makes people sh*t on full-on. 10 years ago Nano had a great reputation and the other half of the duo is the brother of one of the guys that runs Nano. So to keep peace in the family they're going to bring their best to represent the label. And with quality albums like this you can see why. Can you imagine the dinner convo if one brother's weak effort brought down the other brother's label? Awkward. Very solid and highly recommended! Psyshop Beatspace

13 year old wedding cake, that's what this is. Perhaps at the time of the marriage it was tasty and sweet. Now? Sigh. Now it's just frost-bitten. Stale. As mentioned above it in no way resembles what he accomplished years ago. It's full-on, progressive and like rino said, fairly monotonous. I'm sure the majority of folk weren't expecting a goa album in 2003, but we probably weren't keeping our eyes peeled for a meh album either. If you can get past the gag reflex and choke it down some of his details are catchy and his work during the breaks is still pretty good. It's not terrible...it just...is. Nothing really different from a lot of music from 2003. "Ooh, you know what I'm in the mood for? 2003 Man With No Name." Said no one. Ever.

Artist: Mana Source (Filipe Santos) Title: Kanji EP Label: Submoon Records Date: March, 2015 1. Bonsai 2. Shinto 3. Ninja 4. Reiki 5. Kanji 6. Okami Dude is clearly a wizard. And a machine. A mechanized wizard with f*cking super goa powers. Whatever pseudonym he operates under (and he has many) he makes booming, twisting, goa trance that destroys dancefloors. His erratic behavior that has been well documented on these forums is the only negative which has kept him from assuming his rightful position as ruler of the goa kingdom. I don't think it's any secret that he has been suffering for a long time and perhaps that's the reason for his attitude and mood swings. Certainly his talent and ability have never been in question. This is more of what he does best. Layered melodic goa trance with an edge. Melodies twist and turn as it flows very well. Good driving music I can tell you. I realize this sounds like a Psyshop promo (minus the sketchy English), but he continues to impress. I believe if he punched me in the stomach the music is so good that I might say, "OK, you earned that one." Alas, Submoon is no more, but it has been reincarnated in the form of Good Dance Recordings. This is where you will find it digitally. I am unsure if there are any further physical copies. But whoever is behind that profile here at Psynews is becoming a presence and I'm sure will respond to your queries. Good Dance Recordings (digital)

Artist: Various (It's Filipe) Title: Oriental Accidentalists Label: Sumboon Records Date: August, 2015 1. Chynacid - Tianlong 2. The Lost Buddha - Astral Projection 3. The Lost Buddha - Spiritual Justice 4. Mana Source - Karmaggedon 5. Mana Source - Moon Minerium 6. Realm 9 - Mercury 7. Space Sinbad - Heart of Kali 8. Space Sinbad - Eyes of Osiris 9. The Lost Buddha - Ice of Ancients 10. Ketoret - Conceived 11. Gankyil - Nyorai DAMN!!!!! I'm more convinced than ever that you are less a human being and actually a bot that produces kick ass goa trance at pre-determined intervals. It's one thing to be prolific (that you are Filipe), but to maintain this level of quality is just unheard of. Track after track of just blistering goa trance. If I had to hunt for a negative it would be that your tracks follow the same pattern and can sound very similar. You don't tell stories you decimate dance floors. And make goa trancers like me fall down from excessive twirling. But when the music is this good, you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. The style is typical aggressive and growly goa trance and picking a favorite is like choosing which color M&M is better. They are all top notch stuff. Now for the consumer your should know that some of these beauties have been released before. Tianlong on the Tofu EP, Missionary on the Missionary and Conceived EP, and the Lost Buddha and Mana Source tracks also have digital EPs. Now as he is prone to do, Filipe opens a label and closes it sometimes pretty quickly. Only to start a whole new one. Submoon Records offered this as a CD-r, but as of this typing Submoon Records is no more. He's moved on to Good Dance Recordings, but I cannot find this or any of his earlier releases on that label. So I don't know where you would get this today. But this is how you do it. Let the music do all the talking. And this album is saying volumes.

This is a stare out the window with a cup of coffee during a rainstorm type of album. I've never seen anyone capture the feeling of a color, but Miktek's music shows you just what the color grey looks like. Slow and somber the lush tracks crawl underneath overcast skies. Perhaps it's a long trek across a November beach as the sea roils angrily. For me it was walking through downtown Philadelphia on a cold and windy morning with my head on a swivel. Mechanized dinosaurs raced and rumbled between massive steel and glass monoliths. Blank and sometimes angry stares from potential predators and prey; sizing each other up as melancholy melodies crawl with agonizing slowness. It's the rhythm of the city that I take in as I park myself on a bench in Logan's Circle. The music is cold and bleak as the thick, blanket of clouds block all the penetrating rays of sunshine. Piano protests echo hauntingly across scarred streets and I'm thinking I should've brought a heavier coat. This is a great soundtrack to those blustery November mornings when a long journey through your thoughts is what is needed. Superb.

"It was about...6:15 in the morning. I'm drunk and I'm high. And I'm in Chicago." Every f*cking Disney movie should begin this way. I know I'd watch to see what Mickey would do after an all night bender at the local brothel. 37 voicemails Mickey....and where's Minnie? Last thing you remember was playing a duet on the piano and then...? What are you gonna do now? Damn Disney I just wrote your new edgy graphic novel. Talk about expanding market share. You're welcome. Like the title says this is a sharp compilation. 3D Vision doesn't mess around, consistently delivering the night time acidic madness. Compiled by one of the baddest dudes in the psy scene Sharp goes for the throat right from the jump. Track after track of chip on the shoulder, hi-tech wizardry. And they dare you to knock it off. Acid deluges thick enough to lose your way while it activates your dancing muscles. Even CPU (whose talent for wrecking sh*t left him long ago) doesn't do too badly. By hey...it's no Eat It and for that we should all be thankful. Most of the tracks stay true to what 3D Vision does with only a few missteps. Highly recommended.

Artist: Various Title: Tranceformers Label: Yellow Sunshine Explosion Date: June, 2006 1. Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene (Andromeda Remix) 2. Ibojima - Situations 3. Chomosome Vs. Ibojima - Accelerating Into Oblivion 4. S>range - Another Theory (Chromosome Remix) 5. Zekazy - Worker or Whacko 6. Chomosome Vs. Endorian - Midnight Express 7. Endorian - The Only Braincell Left 8. Deedrah - Take It or Leave It 9. Galactika Vs. Alexander Ligowski - Escape From Heaven 10. Chomosome - Genetic Superstar Should I buy this? Hmm...there you go. When the toaster told you what to do did you make the transforming sound? Yeah ya did. I wish this would transform into a better compilation. Optimus Prime should've requested a better soundtrack than these full-on cliches. Seriously they need to get those bass lines under control before someone gets hurt. Two tracks in and I was already firing up the candy crush. I mean come on...Oxygene is already pretty cheesy. It's like you caught the dog peeing on the carpet and just said f*ck it and then pissed on the recliner. There is a time and a place for full-on that has yet to be determined, but I'm pretty sure it's not when we're awake. Track 8 is like the worst superhero movie ever made. Galactika Vs...my mother-in law's cousin's accountant. That was the artist name you chose? One thing I do know...if music was the power the Autobots needed for battle (energon) than I hope you enjoy Decepticon enslavement.

"We'll smoke the pipe and there will be no lies between us." She is so baked. If this is what the truth sounds like I'd prefer you to lie to me. Let's start with the poor sound quality. I own this disc and it's full of crackles and distortion on the kick. That gives it that vintage feel so I'm not getting my panties in a twist over it. What I will quibble with is the music. You can make the argument that this sounds pretty psychedelic. However you can also make the stronger and more correct argument that this is rather minimal or a foray into experimental noise. You wanna say that the Luna Orbit track is the best? Fine. Might as well say that at least I don't have a paper cut on my penis. I suppose the merits of this would be directly proportional to how high you were. Since I'm drug free, I'll scowl at this with withering disapproval. Nothing memorable here. In fact I would almost prefer to fold laundry or do the dishes than have to listen to it again. And I hate folding laundry.

Artist: Various Title: Psychic Orgasm Vol. 1 - Psychedelic Trance Mission Label: Music Mine Inc. Date: April, 1998 1. K.U.R.O - Vision of Mars (Core Mix) 2. Psychaos - Future Rocks 3. Human Blue - Stone Henge 4. Darshan - Mind Merge 5. Elysium - Illusive World 6. Orion - Rooster 7. Ololiuqui - Chitty Bang 8. Talamasca - Tribal Journey 9. The Pollinator - Clone III Just an fyi...that's uh, not included with disc purchase. Sometimes at 4 am you just need some old school goa trance. And this is a solid bit of that. All the tracks are that very good, churning goa. No over the top melodies or spectacular tracks that cast a large shadow over just good ones. Just solid, pumping music. The track names are a little f*cked up, but Discogs will set you straight. Psychaos totally wrecks sh*t with Future Rocks while Stone Henge from Human Blue has that deep throated goa growl. Mind Merge is a high tempo bit of class and Illusive World is a mid-tempo stomper. Psychedelic? Surely. Orgasmic? Might be a stretch. But unless you lost both of your hands in a freak typing accident you can take care of that all by yourself, right? Highly recommended.

Skeptical hippo has been down this road before. Welcome to the first in a five part series called...y'all ain't foolin' nobody! How many times have we seen it. Compilations screaming goa from the rooftops, but upon further inspection we discover the emperor is butt ass nekkkid! But I'm about to get to the, uh...bottom of this. That's right...I'm bout to go deep under cover. Y'all be like "Where Mike at?" I gots 5 volumes of Planet Goa and am on a mission to find out how much of it is actually goa related. My guess? 80/20 the wrong f*cking way. The German portion sounds very German. Clinical and precise without a lot of variation. Simple bass lines, takes forever to get to the f*cking point...you know what I'm talking about. A few observations: Blah has a thumping bass line, but really lived up to its track title. Sneaky Spasm - Blah II...the yawning. Memory Bubbles - Classic from PS with shimmery melodies and alien sounds. The class of the first disc. Hope - As in I hope the Germans don't f*ck up the rest of this compilation. Dated dream trance. Hale Bopp - More Gernan dream trance precision. Timid and harmless. Moving on. Ten Minutes To Sunset - I kinda liked it. It threatened to take off and become bad ass, but then dovetailed into a drunk guido from the Jersey shore after last call screaming "Do you know who the f*ck I am!?!" Uh, no...no I don't. Martian Arts - Zzzzzz..... Galactric - Most of this sounded like he was trying to figure out how to turn his equipment on. It got better, but only just. Evil Playground - You can never go wrong with some industrial and Tim doesn't disappoint with this psychedelic beast of a remix. Power Gen - It's Astral back when Astral knew how to be Astral. Lepton Head (Deedrah Remix) - Absolute classic goa trance. Casio-Paya - Good stuff from CS. And it's not easy for me to say that. Radiohead (Remix) - German masters make psytrance. Not bad. Into the Static - Meh. Hundreds of Sunsets - Stabilise - The track flatlined until nearly the 4 minute mark and then received a 303 transplant to rise from the dead! Fun game...how many times is the word stabilise repeated? Answer...too many. Illucinate - Gets pretty crazy on the back end. The sample "Just how far will some people go...for a thrill?" is awesome. More awesome than the track unfortunately. I Think...that this track didn't live up to its potential. It's actually not a bad compilation with some really good goa mixed in with some not terrible psytrance. Final tally...8 goa tracks out of 18 and I suppose that's being generous. So around a 60/40 spilt. How much you wanna bet that value will increase as the volumes do?

"So...what you're saying is this guy is a total whacko!?!" What happened to him? Dunno, was mumbling something about Lois and an open back door. Wanna draw a dick on his face? Try and stop me! *whispers* Isn't MDMA supposed to stimulate you and keep you awake? This did not do those things. Well the first third anyway. Perhaps it didn't accomplish those things 15 years ago when it came out. But this is an example of a compilation that almost puts yo to sleep and then rouses you from said blissful slumber. The first three tracks are on the uneventful side and sound like unst unst music. Kinda minimal without adequate storytelling. There's a Skazi track here that may tell you more than I ever could. GMS also has a presence here, but surprisingly their remix is one of the bright spots. Acidic psychedelic full-on that also manages to have a dreamy quality. Pitch Black from the Sound Farmers (GMS and Earthling) is powerful and bubbly with great use of delay and reverb with of course some samples from the movie. In:Synch from Future Prophecy is dark and metallic with a rumbly quality. Win for me as I've never really liked anything they've put out. Shakta gets funky and do no wrongs Etnica close things out with the lone goa track which is nowhere near their best yet still manages to be respectable. If you're in the mood for dark techno influenced trance you could do worse than this. Surprisingly a good share of the tracks hold up well today.

Artist: Various Title: Manga Label: Yabai Records Date: October, 2007 1. Dirty Motion - Daniel 2. Damage - Flipside 3. B-55 - Manga 4. Phatmatix - Don't Get Me Mad 5. Outer Signal & Dapanji - El Diablo 6. Lost & Found - Reflux 7. Azax Syndrom & Shift - How Do You Stop It (Remix) 8. Toxic - Lost In Osaka Remix 9. Tube - Eraze The System "I just need to ask you this...how do you stop it?" This is me racing to the sh*tter after a cup of coffee and a banana. Oh Yabai, where have you gone? In a world where gay people are murdered by other gay people struggling to come to terms with their own identity you are needed now more than ever before. Yabai was a label that was the Asian ying to the South African Timecode yang. Dark full-on with a f*ckton of eerie melodies. Perhaps if you were still around he could've been dancing to music like this instead of shooting people. I'm not blaming Yabai for the recent Orlando, FL massacre, but the world is hurting and we clearly need more great music. And there are some really good tracks from Phatmatix, Lost & Found, and of course the pairing of Shift with Azax. That said all is not rainbows and unicorns. Some tracks are full of stops and starts, cheesy samples, and build ups. I'm looking at you El Diablo and Osaka. Overall a good comp with acidic craziness, but it could've been better. I'd link to it, but Yabai has shut down and the only place to find their stuff is on Discogs for ridiculous prices. Save your money, it ain't worth all that.

"We have to see...we have to know." His strength appears to be the multilayered darkness that tumbles over you in waves. More you struggle, the deeper you go. Plenty of lush synth sounds as well as the harsh tones of despair. That's when his music is the most interesting to me. The sample work is excellent, but when he lightens things up it gets a bit too repetitive. It does tend to drone on a bit doesn't it? I'll sum it up like this...I liked it, but it's a chore to get through it.
