  1. Artist: Trinodia Title: Untuned Visions Label: Goa Records Date: April, 2015 1. Untuned Visions 2. Everything Allright 3. 4th Dimension 4. Intelligent 5. Snapshot 6. Escape 7. Change 8. Unseen 9. Voxel9 - Errors and Trials Trinodia is Daniel Eldström and he has established himself as one of the pillars of the current crop of goa trance artists with albums such as Astral Clouds, Stargazing, and Human History. But before all those great albums he was just like you, trying to find his way and discover his sound. Maybe not you. Cubase is hard, if it was easy everyone would be using it. This digital only release has been remastered and was his second album originally released back in 2004, pretty much the height of the full-on craze. And make no mistake it's full-on as Daniel will proudly tell you. But like most of his compositions the level of detail is off the charts. It's big on atmosphere and oftentimes groove. If the full-on producers today could make music like he made ELEVEN f*cking years ago maybe it wouldn't get rightly sh*t on like it does. This is good stuff with some really thumping beats and you might be able to detect a sliver of the the goa direction his music would eventually take. That being said as fresh and enduring as I think it is, it's full-on so it will never get top marks from a lot of people and that's understandable. Full-on is the red headed stepchild of psytrance. Daddy doesn't love you. I can't say this is essential, but if you're interested in Trinodia's great production of music other than goa trance then this should interest you. Psyshop
  2. B-Side from the digital album consumed! Get it while it's hot! The track is free (like the album), but you can donate some money if you would like. Clicky Clicky!
  3. Artist: Various Title: Planetary Nation 001 Label: Planet B.E.N. Records Date: December, 2004 1. Rinkadink Vs. Gataka - Lost Laundry 2. D-Tek - Liquid Interface 3. Talamasca feat. Schyzotrop - Action 4. Electric Universe - Murphy's Law 5. Xerox & Illumination - Tribal Metal 6. Nomad - Fantasy 7. Tim Schuldt - Stand & Drift 8. Planet B.E.N. - Your Own Reality 9. Organic Noise - Factor X 10. X-Dream - Fall Out (Remix) Ah f*ck, look what you did...you upset the gay. What in the holy f*ck is going on with that atrocious album cover? Someone decide to raid granny's attic? A dime store Indian, a Pikachu looking motherf*cker with a bullhorn, a monkey with his fingers in his ears. Hell that'll tell you all you need to know about this travesty. Remember when Planet B.E.N. made good music? Seems like an eternity ago. Anyway this music is top notch, grade A, sh*t. I'm sorry if you're offended, I don't have time to hold your hand and pat you on the back and say everything will be all right. Cause it won't as long as you keep producing excrement of this magnitude. Hell I think you have to go back two decades to find a track from Talamasca that doesn't make me wanna stick sharp pencils in my ears. The samples in Action followed by the guitar solo felt like I got a paper cut on my dick and stuck it in a jug of lemon juice. But hey let's keep the guitar train rolling with Tribal Metal. Ugh...I wanna puke. Anyone think that Nomad's Fantasy was to annoy anyone who heard this track? Cause he did. I honestly cannot comprehend how you could manage to assemble so much sh*tty guitar trance in one place. And f*ck those who say it was made 11 years ago, I'm sure there was good music made 11 years ago. This was a conscious decision to lower the bar for some quick cash. You would think that a compilation comprised of artists that made some of the most psychedelic tracks in history could not reach this master level of suckitude. Surprise! I think this album just gave my computer herpes. See that? Brian just pissed all over your legacy. I'm not linking to this garbage. F*ck that.
  4. This is an album I'm sure many would covet. Since the files were lost however I"m afraid it's wishful thinking. Sad face.
  5. Artist: Various Title: Mind Your Own Isness Label: Phantasm Records Date: June, 2006 1. Alien Project - Mover Over 2. Eskimo Vs. John Phantasm - They're In Trouble Now 3. Sirius Isness - Sanctified (Cycle Sphere Remix) 4. Absolum - Surprises Upset People 5. Sirius Isness Vs. Earthling - Call of the Wind 6. Bliss Vs. Painkiller - Out of Phaze 7. CPU - U-spin 8. XSI - Alchemik Machine 9. Sirius Isness - Breaking The Matrix (Talamasca Remix) I had a whole review written for this, but I lost my phone so I'll give you the jist of it. Yep...that about says it. Look nobody is more horrified at the fact that I resorted to a Marky Mark gif more than I, but if it walks like a duck... As a label how can you put your name to this blatant full-on cash grab? It's disgustingly boring full-on nonsense. Stops, starts, tired samples that were f*cking sleepy a decade ago. I don't think the saddest parts are the tracks themselves although there's sufficient material there to cry yourself to sleep. Nope I believe it's the wasted potential exhibited by these artists. All of them have done better than this and at this point it seems they're just out for rent money. The lone bright spot would have to be Absolum's Surprises Upset People with it's raw power and the grooveability of Earthling's track. Man I wish I would've minded my own isness. Psyshop
  6. Artist: Various Title: Global Alliance Label: Fragile Planet Records Date: June, 2005 1. Neural Rectifier Syndrome - Byson 2. Scorb - Tundra 3. Winter Demon - Time Attack 4. Principles of Flight - Lava Frog 5. Psychoactive - Stick Ya Disco 6. Killer Buds - Behind U 7. Shift - Cipher Jabbawokkee 8. Phatmatix - Pyroman 9. Mr. Peculiar - Funny Mushrooms Hmmmm...I seem to be mired in mid 2000's full on when it comes to reviewing. Well can you blame me? There is a lot of it. This particular subset of psytrance exploded with so many cut and paste releases, each one being a carbon copy of the next. Fragile Planet Records was gone almost as soon as it appeared which is a shame because they seemed to be on the right track. This compilation is an example of night time psy music that pulsates. It's dark, melodic and powerful with a great atmospheric feeling. I know cause I was rocking this at 4 this morning. Wasn't at a party or anything like that. Just woke up and needed some music. As with all compilations there are some weaker moments, but the majority is solid. Unlike Ketuh Records who went out like a wet noodle, this label's final output made some big boy noise. Shift and Killer Buds in particular really own on this album with Mr. Peculiar also putting in a strong showing. If you're a night time full-on lover this one should already be in your kit. Recommended. Psyshop
  7. Artist: Various Title: Psychic Imprint Label: Ketuh Records Date: November, 2006 1. Gappeq - Rite Machine 2. Lagun - Soul Cube 3. Boogieman - Space Dementia 4. Spiral - Leptospiralosis 5. Whicked Hayo - Hayo 6. Silent Horror - Victim (Final) 7. Khopat - Droid Sequence 8. A.P.E. - Power of the Quantom 9. Trold - Karma The last CD from an underrated label. Releases included Sonic Pantomime, Alittle Lunacy, and Interfiber Skunk from Killer Buds. Ah what could've been. Their specialty was dark psytrance without any of the cliche's of darkpsy. Thumping beats, melodies...think of a tanner TImecode. With their final opus they keep it dark. Very dark. Unfortunately for a guy like me who likes melodies and depth this wasn't their finest work. Lots of metallic sounds and thumping basses, but not a lot else. Five tracks in and I'm still looking for anything to grab hold of. Power of the Quantom and Karma have some redeeming qualities and felt like proper night time psytrance. Perhaps they finally succumbed to what plagued most darkpsy around 2006? Whatever the reason they really went out with a whimper. I cannot recommend this CD unless you're in the business of throwing money down the toilet. And if that's the case I have three toilets and they are all very hungry. Here...you can place your money right here. Why am I wearing a bugs bunny costume? Duh, it's Thursday. Psyshop Beatspace
  8. Artist: Various Title: TIP Records Goa Classics 1 Label: TIP Records Date: September, 2010 1. The Infinity Project - The Law 2. The Overlords - Sundown (Ionizer Remix) 3. Voodoo People - Drop The Bomb 4. Voodoof - Thru 5. The Infinity Project - Feeling Very Weird 6. Total Eclipse - Waiting For A New Life 7. Doof - Mars Needs Women 8. E-Rection - Out Here We Are Stoned (X-Dream Remix) 9. Green Nuns of the Revolution - Conflict 10. X-Dream - Panic In Paradise "If I could just discover one of these things...I wouldn't care if they did think I was crazy!" Ah, seeing all these classic tracks is like putting on an old, comfortable shoe. Whenever you see pale face you know your about to be treated to quality. The tracklist says 10, but 1 and 3 add nothing to the glory days of TIP Records, so realistically you've got 8 tracks to carry you down memory lane. The tracks are re mastered and I'll tell you the Ionizer remix of Sundown benefits the most with sounds that are so crisp and clear like a mountain stream. You can hear everything. Thru has an eerie slink that also sounds super clear. As good as the last track was we are now knee deep in classic town. These next goa standards have stood the test of time and should be on most goa head's short list of super tracks. Now here's the rub. These tracks are so superb and so well known that I would be stunned if you didn't already have them, thereby calling into question whether or not this is actually essential. As mentioned the tracks have been remastered so that might push you towards purchasing it. I did and for a nice price you have all these beauties in one place. Psyshop
  9. Damnit...I bought it again. I'll have to speak with the guy who sold it to me though. Punch in the face was not included.
  10. The debut from MMD Records, how tasty! It's not uncommon for releases that are close to a decade old to lose their luster, but this one has hung on to its allure. While not as polished as stuff from that other South African label, it still has some groove and swagger. Thanks in large part to the booty shaking ability of one Frozen Ghost. The kick and bass hit hard and the tracks unfold in danceable waves. The artists ain't trying to tell a story here, no they want to shake a dance floor. Loud and growling this compilation continues to wreak havoc.
  11. Artist: E-Clip Title: Into The Void Label: Iono Music Date: June, 2014 1. E-Clip Vs. Zen Mechanics - Flashback 2. Human Instincts 3. Endless Symphony 4. E-Clip Vs. Future Frequency - Little Universe 5. E-Clip Vs. Zyce - Flying Objects 6. Cosmic Religon 7. Salvia Divinorum (Waio 30x Remix) 8. E-Clip Vs. Symbolic - Live Your Life 9. E-Clip Vs. Egorythmia - Star Stuff Me when I listened to his first album Shuma: And now me when I'm digging into his latest album. Yep. Needs more dick in a box. Look it's hard to catch lightning in a bottle. His debut was so epic and detailed that truthfully there was only one way to go. To this day it is still one of the greatest progressive trance albums as far as I'm concerned. And please don't take my lack of euphoria to mean this isn't worth your time because on its face this is a good album in the "psygressive" vein. There are some tracks here that will take you into that void and you will lose yourself. Problem is it has been done before and done better by he himself. The song structure feels too linear without all the dynamics of Shuma. Think of it this way...when you first tried weed you pondered the universe and came up with brilliant solutions to problems that the world inexcusably seemed to ignore. Eventually though you get tired of climbing out of mom's basement at 2:30 after a vigorous Call of Duty session and realize that your blow-up girlfriend can't take the punishment any longer and rather than leave you she just decided to self-deflate. Synchro - Drugs

Artist: Synchro Title: Drugs Label: Liquid Audio Soundz Date: June, 2000 01. 06'43" Next Stop Oblivion(Y2K Mix) 02. 06'30" Drugs (Hard) 03. 07'41" Fowhunt (Gonzo) 04. 07'08" Coca Coma (Rock) 05. 06'23" Cyborg 06. 05'32" Drugs (Soft) 07. 05'44" F Buckets 08. 06'09" Coca Coma (Chrystal) 09. 07'39" Alcoholiday 10. 07'27" Foxhunt (Us Uk) "What is it all about? Sometimes you can't get it right. I'm fed up with waiting for something to happen. I don't like this." Number one...shut the f*ck up. Two, you just described this album to an absolute T. People have said pretentious and that first track is surely that. And for those saying that you should buy an album for one track? Are you f*cking serious? I realize that this album came out before iTunes, Beatport, and Amazon so you get some slack, but I wouldn't do that for the Pleiadians much less an album that is as weak as this. Some of the samples are cringeworthy and dangerous. After hearing Drugs, I began to think, "You know maybe I should be taking drugs!" See. That's dangerous. This album should come with a picture of Amy Winehouse hi fiving Whitney Houston. Say no to drugs kids. The music is more on the minimal side and that's par for the course for the year 2000. Boring is an accurate adjective unless minimal is your thing. And if it is your thing maybe you're boring. Or possibly you just like your music simple and uncluttered. If I had to pick a favorite it would be going to the bathroom and taking a dump when it was over. For me this was a gift and I'm always appreciative of someone's generosity. But having given it a thorough listening, I can honestly say that there is no reason for me to hear it again. Unless I get a craving for that glass dick.
  13. Artist: Sykespico Title: Sonic Bomb EP Label: Zion604 Date: August, 2015 1. Fly 2. Attatchment 3. Sonic Bomb "The hour for which people have been waiting for centuries." The end of f*cking summer? That's what I'm waiting for cause it's f*cking hot. Unnatural. Did you know that this last July was the hottest on record for the planet? At least when it's cold you can throw on a damn coat. With this heat walking to the mailbox becomes an endeavor. I hate summer. There's only three reasons to sweat this much and having lunch isn't one of them. Either you having some vigorous nookie, getting a good workout (which could be the same thing) or you're in a sauna. Don't know why you would want to be in a box and crank up the heat though. Sounds like torture. Goofy knows what I'm talking about, look at him. He just wants a f*cking ham sandwich. *All previous statements will be bullsh*t once I install my in ground pool. Then summer is awesome.* Thankfully this thermal nut punch will be over soon and we can get back to the business of enjoying time outside without suffering from swamp ass. Seems the labels are knee deep in hot sweaty hippies at festivals this summer so the releases have pretty much slowed to a crawl. This one almost flew under the radar, but don't worry I gotcha. This duo has released a track on the Flight 604 II compilation and it was kick ass. No clue who they are could be anybody. One thing I'm sure of is that I'm not one of them. And look at Zion dipping their toe in the digital market. Three tracks of somewhat drifting goa trance. Nothing spectacular just good, quality music perfect for on the beach listening. Attachment has a bit of the old school sound to my ears and Fly had a nice guitar crunch. Didn't think I would like it, but they made it work. Well worth throwing this duo a few scheckles. 14. Artist: Sulima Title: Mechanoid Label: Timecode Records Date: August, 2015 1. In 2. R2D9 3. Vs117sv 4. Interlock 5. Mechanoid 6. Voksillator 7. Kriotron 8. Polar 9. Astra 10. Out I always like to check in on Timecode Records and see what they're up to. There was a time when I was completely enamored with this label. The glory days when it seemed that every single release they threw out there was better than the next. Originators of that South African sound that skillfully melded dark atmosphere with melody and power. Times change and artists move on yet this label still has designs to be a force in psytrance. Sulima is a Russian artist who I have limited experience with and I suppose his style could be a cross between darkpsy and night time psytrance music if that makes it any less clear. Never heard his album Time Shift, but I was eager to see what he was cooking up. This is a fairly solid album (digital only), dark and thumping. He uses a lot of similar sounds so it can be a little difficult to avoid sounding samey. That said he's also pretty good at layering and creating a futuristic atmosphere. There are 8 full tracks as well as an intro and an outro providing that aforementioned eerie future feel. There are a few standouts like Interlock and Astra which seem to hit that sweet spot between rich darkness and attainable melody, but the album as a whole falls a little short of greatness. However if you like your night time psytrance a little on the dark side without being mindless, then this is for you. Good job Timecode. Timecode Bandcamp Psyshop
  15. "It's party time!" Wheee. eeeee..... eee. Yeah that gif pretty much captures the lack of enthusiasm I have for this album. It hasn't aged well and can someone please explain to me how this isn't regular full-on? Perhaps in 2005 his squelchy, bouncy tunes were a breath of fresh air, but it's 2015. We have since seen the return of Alien Jesus.
  16. Artist: Various Title: Psionic Tales Chapter 2 Label: Digital Psionics Date: August, 2007 1. Artifakt - Doom Doom Doom v1.0 2. Xatrik - Sketchy Bizznizz V1.3 3. Abomination - Lost V1.0 4. Bon - Regulated Power V1.1 5. Kluster - Dark Walker 6. Scatterbrain - Psychological Experiments 7. Safi Connection - Give Me Gitara V2.0 8. Fractal Glider - Only A Lifetime V2.3 9. Menog - End Of Story (Dark Nebula Remix) 10. Space Tribe & Psywalker - Spiritual Nobody "Yeah, I wanna wreck it, but I think it wrecked itself." Instead of searching for interesting album covers for this series just use this one. For every album. It really sums up the entire series. I like the series, all the albums have some worthwhile tracks. But read on fellow lover of knowledge! Digital Psionics is a label that has been around a long while and I believe the Psionic series is the reason why. And also Dark Nebula making the same album like nine f*cking times. But back to the series. I'm attempting to make my way through all of them, but let me tell you their formula. Create a compilation and pack it with a 50/50 ratio of good tracks and utter disappointments. So far this theorem holds true. Take this compilation...The first three tracks are proper night time trance with power and atmosphere. Things get a little darker with the next 3 and if you're into darkpsy and mechanical scraping washes then those might appeal to you. The WTF moment comes with the "remix" of the Give Me Gitara by Safi Connection. Honestly...is there a more annoying track on the planet? Absolutely abysmal and bears direct responsibility for the creation of ISIS, child sex trafficking, as well as kidney stones. He should have to walk around with this track draped over his neck like a scarlet letter. Then they close things out with tracks like the last two which make you think, "You know that wasn't bad...I look forward to the next installment." That's how this album is. It's how they all are. You could halve the amount of albums that have been submitted to the Psionic series if you just took the tracks that were worth a f*ck. Just one man's humble opinion. Of course this coming from a guy that has purchased almost all of them. Ah...the things I do for you guys. Psyshop Beatspace
  17. Artist: Various Title: Stellar Discovery Label: Goa Galaxy Date: August, 2014 01. Cactus Arising - Magic Notes (9:54) 02. Somnesia - When Stars Dream (7:12) 03. Protorai - Treetop Kingdom (8:09) 04. VinShu - Darkness Behind (7:03) 05. Nash Mafia Blues - Apocalypse (6:48) 06. Proxeeus - Orbiting Arcturus (8:03) 07. SatanicElectro - Comfortable Man (8:13) 08. Jagoa - Astral Flower Power (9:47) 09. Itzamnia - Teleport To The Moon (Solar Mix) (6:57) 10. Travma - Shaolin's (6:05) Goa Galaxy is a Bulgarian netlabel which has been releasing a few digital compilations and EPs over the years. I suppose the best way you could describe them would be as a giant steaming bowl of Stellar Discovery followed it's older brother Galactic Discovery in more than just album covers. Some of the tracks are good, some ok, and clearly some were the result of incriminating photos. None made me want to dance, but that could be because I'm lazy. Something is missing from the tracks, some sort of dynamism that encourages repeated listens. The tracks themselves are a notch below those of the established labels and none of them evoked any kind of emotion from me. Whether that's due to the production, mastering, or the financial collapse in Greece I couldn't tell you, but it's easy to hear. So with this new release Goa Galaxy continued to fill the bowl with more mediocrity. Give me the Proxeeus, Nash Mafia Blues, and Jagoa tracks and I'm outta here. Goa Galaxy Free Download
  18. Artist: Various Title: Sadhana Label: Neogoa Date: June, 2015 01 - Room Full Of Eyes - Feasts Fires (145 BPM) 02 - Trikselos - Planet X (148 BPM) 03 - Pandemicus - Exit (145 BPM) 04 - Anumana - Distance To Goa (146 BPM) 05 - Celestial Consciousness - Insider (Katedra Remix) (130 BPM) 06 - Space Vibes System - Life Tomorrow (145 BPM) 07 - Sky Technology & Imba - Intergalactic Warlord (144 BPM) 08 - Spirit Medicine - Dark Matter Of God (135 BPM) 09 - Spacenode - Steel Shakti (145 BPM) Has there ever been a movie that was the equivalent of a foot long propaganda hard on for the United States? I say yes. And his name is Rocky IV. "I must make goa trance better than ever before!" I like your enthusiasm Ivan (pun intended) and I'm just gonna pretend I didn't see all those nandralone bottles on the floor. I knew there had to be an explanation for the superb quality of all the releases Neogoa churns out on a regular basis. And now we know. Ivan was on da juice. We all know the story. Russia "creates" a super champion boxer through technology and steroids while Rocky trains the "natural" way. The pure and altruistic way. Forget the fact that Sly was on the juice probably longer than most of you have been alive. It also glosses over the fact that during a night out and a few too many, a Russian coach bragged to an American coach that they had been injecting their athletes with steroids. Of course the US complained to the ISOC and demanded the Russians be brought to justice. Nah, I'm just f*cking with ya, they ran home immediately and concocted their own super patriotic cocktail blend for their own athletes. True story. So in the eighties Americans were led to believe that all things Russian were bad and shady. That the world needed a Rocky to set them on the right path and protect people from the evil red sickle of Communism. With that in mind I view this compilation with a sideways skepticism that's been ingrained into my mind for decades. But I'm an adult now and I see things a lot more clearly. Frequent collaborator Sky Technology compiled a bunch of tracks from Russian and Ukranian artists (perhaps Drago was one of them, I don't know I wasn't in the meeting) with what I would call uneven results. Like steroids...yeah your muscles might get bigger, but there's the acne, back hair, and punch a grandma in the face cause it's Tuesday roid rage. The first two tracks are forgettable; so forgettable that I think the compilation should've started on track three. It says he worked really hard on this compilation, but in two seconds I could've just saved him some time. Pandemicus is a name I haven't seen since the Dancing Mavka (there's a few of those on here) and the goa trance journey begins here. 4-5 years between tracks is a long time so I can only assume he was sent to Siberia for not cleaning up those steroid bottles. Worth it. For me anyway, don't know how he felt about it. He goes for the heart and doesn't stop until he rips it out mortal Kombat style. Never been a fan of Anumana and this track didn't do a thing to change it. Full-on new goa style that wasn't interesting or innovative until the last third. The Katedra remix of Insider is a dark, sinister, entrancing track and easily one of my favorites here. There isn't a lot going on, but the atmosphere is palpable and it's full of rising and falling melodies. Space Vibes System returns with a nice track if unspectacular and Sky Technology and Imba's controlled chaos is well appreciated. Dark Matter of God has evil melody tendrils that snake and slither with wicked intent even with the galloping bassline. Closing things out is Steel Shakti, a track that takes zero chances and basically trips across the finish line. It pains me to say this because this label is usually synonymous with quality, but for me this is just a pretty good release from the label. Too many mediocre tracks and not enough stellar ones. It's not a terrible album, by any stretch, but when you've set the bar so ridiculously high anything less than greatness is a disappointment. I have discovered that I even tire of the tracks on repeated listens. A victim of their own success I suppose. Not every album or compilation can be a home run and even though this one falls into that category, this label has earned my loyalty and I look forward to them dusting themselves off and getting back to the drawing board. Free at Ektoplazm
  19. "You took so much of that stuff you're probably paranoid!" Still unparalleled. This Mexican duo out Timecoded South Africa. Thunderous music for those that like it heavy, acidic, and dark. I keep coming back to it and it is one of my absolute favorite psytrance releases to this day. Perfect for when you want to break stuff and dance like nobody is watching.
  20. Artist: Filipe Santos Title: Goa - The New Generation Label: Submoon Records Date: August, 2015 1. Psydonym - Venusians 2. Beast303 - Beast 303 3. Liquid Jungle - High Toxicity 4. Mind Reset - Parasite Eve 5. Resistrance - Hypnolab 9 6. Sylica-X - Re-Search 7. Kunai - Ascendancy 8. Rainbow Islands - Sevens Heavens In an effort to be enshrined into the Guinness Book of World Records as the artist with the most aliases Filipe Santos returns to the goa scene and promptly reclaims territory. Kinda. All of these projects are Filipe so don't try to infringe on his copyrights. I know this because it says so on the inside cover. What I don't know is if these tracks are part of the "new" generation. And can it be a new generation when it's just one guy? Several (Beast303 - 2010, High Toxicity -2011, Re-Search -2012) have been released before when Filipe ran the acid/goa label Acid Chemical Plant Records. Although to be accurate and give Imba a shoutout, the Beast303 EP was released on Underground Alien Factory. We clear? So it's unknown whether he made these tracks awhile ago and just left them on the old hard drive. What is known is that the style of Filipe is well represented with driving rhythms and layers of those delicious goa sounds. As expected he incorporates the acid in several of the tracks, but they all have ripping leads and that attitude that the creator must carry with him. Love him, hate him, ignore him, acknowledge him, this guy is prolific and prolific with consistent quality. Some of the greatest artists of our time have also been the most troubled. Allow me to make an assumption based solely on an avatar. Perhaps Filipe has found inspiration and focus with his wife/girlfriend and new baby. All the other nonsense (justified or not) is background noise. Right now he is making some big boy noise. And this isn't even the best of his most recent output. Stay tuned.
  21. So what happened with this anyone know?
  22. This is an outstanding CD!
  23. Now that I can appreciate. As we are all fond of saying, musical taste (read artistic) is perhaps the most subjective thing in the world. In truth with the praise this received I was expecting something entirely different and as such was disappointed.
  24. Artist: Masaray Title: Cosmic Trancer Label: Psy-Harmonics Date: May, 1995 1. Cosmic Trancer 2. Time Traveler 3. Ether Relay 4. Xyber Siva 5. Scorpio Sun Eclipse 6. Time Traveler of Trance "Yeah, I got a 247...young Bieber in distress. He's no longer a belieber...I repeat no longer a belieber!" Canadian ass wart Justin seriously wants to know why the f*ck this album sucks. And for the first time ever I agree with him. It's got all the makings of a great goa trance album. 1995. Nothing bad ever happened in 1995. Yeesh...f*cking Santa died? All right, f*ck 95, I was a drunken mess singing Alive by Pearl Jam in my lumberjack flannel and gorging myself on Cheeseteaks. The cover still has the color of sunshine and an ancient symbol that screams hippie bullsh*t. Where have I seen that before? AHHHH!!!! F*cking nazis! I don't believe in anything anymore. To say this sounds dated is an understatement. Clearly the sound palette is limited and the ideas are as well. Did they put a cat meow on Xyber Siva? Sounds like they were just noodling about and decided to record it in one take. It's not until the final two tracks that we actually discover signs of life. That said those last two tracks are pretty great. But the rest fall far short of what a goa trance album from 1995 should've been. And please don't hand me the "it takes multiple listens" line or "they were limited by their equipment" nonsense. Plenty of great goa came out in 95. I've listened to this more than enough times to know it sounds old and raw. Sometimes that can be a good thing, but this could use a remake. But hey some call it a classic and would be happy to sell it to you for $100. But for me this was a huge disappointment.
