  1. The first thing I did was throw out the bookends. First and last track were the weakest for me and didn't add to the story. And the storytelling here is impressive. Where he shines are the long boys, tracks that don't feel long, but have an entrancing effect. To be caught up in what he's trying to describe is expected and appreciated. They begin slowly and take their time to unravel. He doesn't beat you down with climaxes or overload the ear with melodies. It's straight ahead with welcome additions along the way. Gentle touches instead of brute force. It's different like an apple is different from a pineapple. Still a fruit, but one of them feels more exotic. Free at Ektoplazm
  2. According to Kunaki's site this CD-R is $10. Only $4.30 shipping, but estimated arrival time...May 5th to May 8th. I'm pretty liberal with the moolah, but I cannot pull the trigger.
  3. Ummm..I think you're doing it wrong. MDK
  4. Artist: Ovnimoon Title: Holistic Label: Ovnimoon Date: March, 2015 1. The Spirit 2. Emotional Biodecodification 3. Fear 4. You Can Do This 5. The Power 6. Tesoro Interior 7. Dual Resonance - Passing Clouds (Ovnimoon Remix) 8. Trance Dance "Help them find their way. Help them meander through the different." Ok let's step back for a second. No, not you Kanye. I think there's a photographer who called you a no talent. Yep, that's what I heard him say. You should fight him. He's right down there. Hector is the brains behind this project and with his seventh album as Ovnimoon he has dropped a hot f*cking potato into our laps. So rather than burn the beanbag I put that sh*t directly into my earholes. The reviews here have been great, analyzing this from seemingly every angle. I'm not going to repeat what's been said because let's be honest that's not what I do. I bring the funny. And huge, pendulous boobage. I'm also not going to trot out the tired cliche about everyone having their own personal taste because for f*cks sake that should be a given by now. Over his career this gentleman has successfully combined progressive, full-on, and more recently goa better than almost anyone. There is power, mysticism, melodies, and most importantly...goa! Did I mention goa? I've heard it said that this is a progressive album with goa touches. Well, like your grandpa with a broken GPS I'm going the other way. This is a goa album with full-on and progressive touches. Every song is that way. Like some I could've done without the sample early on as it sounds too second story mall this is where I get my chakras from sound to me. But to pan the rest of the track and indeed the album? No sir, not me. Ain't gonna be me. IMO (f*ck humble) he has delivered a worthy sequel to Trancemutation of the Mind. This is a vehicle for space travel through layers of melody. It's colorful and lush with sounds leaving and arriving at precisely the right time. There's nothing cheesy or formulaic about his style as the melodies untwist like a helix over time for maximum hypnotic effect. Isn't that what E-mantra does? And we fall all over ourselves singing his praises. So put me in the camp as someone who thinks this is a triumph and can't wait to get this goa album in his hands. And now this. Because boobs. 5. Nothing to be sorry about. You're right it still is a pretty good compilation. Guitar trance for the most part just ain't my thing.
  6. Artist: Lectro Spektral Daze Title: Out of Body Experience EP Label: Neogoa Date: September, 2014 1. Out of Body Experience 2. Crystal Clear 3. Specialists In Sound "What is an out of body experience?" F*cking crap on a cracker my soul just tore ass out of my body. Is that an out of body experience? I realize we're all wetting our pants at the latest Neogoa offering, but I hope you guys are paying attention to this individual. This is Danny Marshall from the land of kiwis and more f*cking facial tattoos than the local penetentiary. This guy is crafting some involved and hypnotic goa trance. It's long and twisting where chunks of time are lost in the blink of an eye. I had to pee an hour ago, but I can't tear myself away from the computer. This is futuristic and mystical at the same time. This cosmic goa trance is like a multiple appendaged creature composed of energy. Kick ass. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Something Something 8. Oomph 9. Wake (Live Edit) 10. There is No Spoon "It's beautiful here." I love listening to downtempo music in the wee hours of the morning. It's ultra quiet with nary a distraction allowing the full power of the music to wash over you in palpable waves. This is Daniel Ringstrom with an absolute diamond from Ultimae Records. The CD is mixed so each track flows gently into the next like the slow rising of the sun on a winter's dawn. It floats, perpetually slowly with soft touches buffering the listener from all that is intrusive. Crawling with a sloth like measured calm the album is peaceful and relaxing moving across the chill landscape. Shifting from ambient to the delicate notes of trance sometimes within the same track this is a security blanket. Never in a hurry it unfolds precisely on time. Glacial pads form the backdrop as tones ring gently amidst real instruments. Yes it certainly is beautiful here. Can't find Cd, but you can get the digital album from Ultimae. Mdk
  8. Artist: Various Title: Enfold 01 Label: Ultimae Records Date: December, 2014 1. Scann-Tec - Rewind 2. Fingers In the Noise - Sensitive Mind 3. I Awake - Winter Shell 4. Martin Nonstatic - Oak Branches 5. Lars Leonhard - Frost 6. Miktek - Serene 7. Circular - Lunokhod (Winter Mix) 8. Master Margherita & Ermetico - Blue Fish (Winter Mix) 9. Asura - Lumiere Noire 10. Aes Dana - Beneath Celebrating 15 years of relaxing chill music Ultimae released a gift for fans of the label. This freely downloadable compilation is available on their website in 12 or 24 bit format and showcases a who's who of artists. Let's begin with the cover of a flower encased in ice. It was certainly apropos for my area when we got two feet of snow dumped on us. My son hadn't gone to school in a week and the temperature was hovering around -1F. What the f*ck Canada? The album begins chilled with frozen pads and slow percussive beats. And that's where it stays not unlike that flower attempting to escape its ice prison. Cold winds blow on Winter Shell as sunlight reflects off the snow covered landscape, but instead of being dark and depressing, it offers hope. Hope in the knowledge that warmer temps and spring blooms will soon arrive. You can hear the foliage attempting to push forth through cracking ice on Oak Branches. Lunokhod harnesses the spectacle of sunlight gleaming off of icy surfaces with lush pads and smooth female vocals. Blue Fish...hmmmm. It doesn't seem to belong even if it's the Winter Mix, but it's still a mellow enjoyable track. Asura gets things back on the desolate and frozen track with his long ambient soundscapes revealing how vast the Antarctic mountainous desert really is. If aliens took up residence in the frozen wasteland this would be their soundtrack. Aes Dana closes with bubbles trapped in ice just in case you didn't know it was winter. This is a great album that captures the winter atmosphere and is helped along by being mixed. It's one long frozen journey with some great tracks and some that seem like place holders. But put it all together and it works. The sound is top notch and Ultimae's gift succeeds in putting the listener smack dab into the music. A free gift that is greatly appreciated, but... Now I'm f*cking cold. Free at Ultimae Records Website Mdk
  9. Artist: Gataka Title: Bless The Mess Label: Phonokol Date: September, 2007 1. Dreaming Mode 2. From Zero to Hero 3. King of the hill 4. Triping Out 5. Higher Level 6. Reaction in action 7. Time to change 8. Fun in the sun 9. Bring this beat back 10. In my mind Ok. Take every psychedelic atom which circulates through your mortal form and mold it into a tightly shaped ball of imagination, creativity, and energy. I'll wait. Finished? Now place it on an aircraft carrier floating over the Mariana Trench. Stay with me we're almost there. Finally, and this requires laser precise focus...train the combined nuclear arsenal of the developed world on said carrier and sink that motherf*cker. Sink it so it tumbles into the abyss, never to be heard from again. At this point you should be a comatose husk devoid of any of life's color or imagination. You are now ready to listen to this album. Since the psychedelia that would invigorate your body has been freely given it won't interfere with this music. I cannot even say this is full-on because even that has the potential for psychedelic properties however minute. This is euphoric trance appealing to the weakest of minds. Minds that don't want to be shackled with a prison comprised of layers and depth. Why bother with complexity when simplicity is much easier to grasp? The 2007 bag of tricks is on full display and you can see the twists and turns from a mile away. Know what we call that? A straight away. The sound quality is excellent (the only saving grace), but I don't care how good you make nails on a chalkboard sound it still makes you cringe. And that's before we get to the vocoder or the, ahem...singing. Oh Lord, the singing. This thing should come with a fist pump tutorial and a bag of glow sticks. No link because I don't want to infect my new computer. Mdk
  10. Artist: JBC Arkadii Title: Sounds From Tomorrow Label: Sita Records Date: April, 2013 1. Trance Galactic Voyage 2. Cosmic Butterflies 3. Mantra Trance 4. Colours of the Night Sky 5. Flashing 6. Sounds From Tomorrow 7. Transparent Emotion 8. Teleportation 9. Spirits Dream "If you come to me at this moment...your minutes will be come hours. Your hours will become days. And your days will become a lifetime." I'm not sh*tting you this is the exact phrase found at the counter of every DMV location in the states. It's the one thing they do consistently well. We live in a great time goa heads. Not just because we have porn on demand or twelve different flavors of 5 hour energy. Nope times are great when we have so many fantastic goa releases that some really great ones fly under the radar. This is Arkadii Tronets from the wilds of Russia and he's put his stamp on the whole nitzhogoa sub-genre. I'm the first on to call out nitzhonot as campy and corny, but he does a good job of keeping the frenetic kookiness to a minimum. He delivers fast paced goa melodies that make you want to dance like nobody is watching. It's music that looks different going into a break than coming out of it. It has that Middle Eastern vibe with a lot of descriptive layers. There will be one melody and then another sneaking in from the left. Mantra Trance will blow the doors off your Honda Accord so it's not lacking in power. Some might not be able to get past the laser kick, but I urge you to try, because the rewards are worth it. The sound is very clear so kudos to whomever did the mastering. I think it strikes a good balance between goa and nitzho staying true to both sides. Recommended. One thing, the Sita Records website appears to be down. I think I was redirected to an Israeli site telling me it was time to get my license renewed. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  11. Artist: CPU Title: Central Processing Unit Label: 3D Vision Date: September, 2003 1.Killer Rabbit (remix) 2.Doors To Visions 3.Shot Shot Voila 4.Down The Stairs 5.Haight Street Freak 6.Peak Detector 7.Processing Unit 8.Virtual Flirt 9.A Beach In Japan Ahhh...the good old days. Samy's debut was an acid ridden wave of aweso...pretty good. This was long before his music dove tailed into a shameful commercial death spiral with a release like Eat It. Some argue that it sounds too samey and while probably true you can never have too much chocolate. Thumping beats and relentless juicy acid salvos this is like doing endless spirals in a rocket through space. It sounds very full-on, but the insanity of the melodies puts it on a higher plane for me. He gets in this groove and pounds away at it until you're all twisted out. Max cardio stuff that is very similar to Absolum's Inside the Sphere yet not on that level. Oh and it has lasers. Who doesn't like lasers? Mdk
  12. Artist: Droidlock Title: Elefantronika Label: Wirikuta Recordings Date: April, 2005 1) This world isn't real 2) Just another simulation 3) Order the future 4) My life is a trip 5) Strange day 6) R u coming ? 7) Silly rabbit 8) Who m I? 9) Mutants r faster than u 10) Wake up your satisfaction Here is a representation of Damien Vergnaud's first album High Phonic For A Replicant. Ewww...would you wanna hang your hat there? Maybe if it came with a hazmat suit. Jump forward to his sophomore album and you get something more like this. Sure it ain't perfect. You've got a set of stairs that lead directly to the ceiling and for some reason there's a toilet in the living room, but you're not gonna need a tetanus shot for catching a nap there. It starts off like others have said with old school melodies that take their time to unwind. The dark sci-fi atmosphere is reflected in the samples used. Tracks like Strange Day and Order the Future wielded some gravity and felt substantial. Then for some inexplicable reason he goes all Radical Distortion Regenesis on you and totally switches styles halfway through. And not smoothly I might add. A head scratcher for sure. Did he think we needed half the f*cking album to come down? Were we that high? I'd swear this was an entirely different artist. Where did the crunch and creativity go? The first half of the album was the solution and the second half was the problem. Shame really as this had a lot of potential. But five tracks that I don't ever have to hear again really detracts from what could've been. Mdk
  13. Artist: Nibana Title: Ask The Universe Label: Maia Brasil Records Date: February, 2015 01 - Uchuu (60 BPM) 02 - Far Eden (80 BPM) 03 - Near Babel (85 BPM) 04 - Icarus Dream (Tribute To Yngwie Malmsteen) (90 BPM) 05 - Our Eyes (90 BPM) 06 - The Most Astounding Fact (90 BPM) 07 - I Am a Soul (100 BPM) 08 - Ya'av Eah (110 BPM) 09 - Our Eyes (Sephira Remix) (100 BPM) 10 - Owari Da (76 BPM) "Now fear is going to be a player in your life...but you get to decide how much." Nope. Nope. Nope. Bricks have been shat. When I pass from this Earth my soul will still be terrified of this creature. You need proof of alien visitation? Bam. Eight legs of extra terrestrial terror. They hid in sheets. Under shirts. Behind curtains. In. Your. F*cking. Toilet. Paper. Roll. Now that I have succeeded in scaring myself for life let's discuss this release by a Frenchman. Now wer'e talking! No. No...check that f*cking thing for spiders! It could be under all that delicious! I f*cking see you behind those strawberries! This is an album of downtempo / dream trance that delivers on it's label. It was released in 2014, but he probably felt he could get more exposure if he posted it on Ektoplazm. It can be slow moving downtempo, ethereal, and hypnotizing mid tempo trance. Guitars (mainly guitar solos) are a prominent feature on the tracks and before you pass on this like I did that dessert, let me tell you it's a highlight. I know I can't believe I'm saying it. There's even a tribute to Yngwie Malmsteen. The guitar player? No the convenience store clerk. Yes the guitar player how many Yngwies do you know? The first track is my favorite. A meticulous dub journey that took its sweet time. The guitar solo brings an epic feel to it, like the situation is bigger than yourself. Far Eden has a glacial cold vibe balanced out by the ever present bass. Icarus Dream is another lush piece of ambient trance complete with nice guitar riff and sliced sounds. All of the tracks don't feel rushed or a jumble of sounds lumped together. Now if you don't like guitars in your music then you might be put off by this. But I never found them intrusive and often found them integral to the track. If there was one gripe it would be that the tracks tend to run a little long and get a little boring. Very well done though. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

  15. Artist: Various Title: New Blood Label: Timecode Records Date: October, 2004 1. Artifakt - The Bad Thing 2. Damage Vs. NRS - F*ck 'Em All 3. Shift - Megatron 4. Phyx - Sultan of Steel 5. Tickets - The Debt 6. Menog - Nilsomania 7. Winter Demon & Toxic - Solid Insanity 8. Digital Talk & Azax Syndrom - Fusion Reaction 9. Hyper Frequencies & Triskell - Aya (Exiter Mix) Dark, Dangerous and Beautiful. Kinda like me. Well, minus the dark part. I mean I'm Irish, so...I get lost in a snowstorm. But dangerous...oh yeah. Have you ever seen me with knives? I'm the only guy who could cut himself with safety scissors. Twice. That leaves us with beautiful and that's an adjective that's never been hurled my way. It's ok, I can take it. So this comp is nothing like me. Which will make it pretty bad ass. Mastered by the Artifakt (dude seems to know what he's doing) it sounds great. Nice and punchy. His track opens things up with the techno style he's come to favor. Damage holds nothing back like driving without brakes. Then comes a string of three tracks that will blow the doors of your minivan. Megatron, Sultan of Steel, and The Debt. Pure power, pure acidic madness. Menog's track is fine, but I feel it's a little too long. Started to become boring. Solid Insanity was anything but, and I liked the bass line for Fusion Reaction. And that's about it. *puts finger to ear to hear producer* No...I'm fairly certain that there are only 8 tracks on this compilation. Timecode Bandcamp Mdk
  16. If you can honestly look me in the eye and tell me that the repeated sample on White Powder is in any way acceptable I'll shave my balls. And the guitar strumming on Stranded? Ugh. I suppose if you like "guitar trance" then you'll like it. But studies show that those who like guitar trance are 67% more likely to be a hermaphrodite. It's true, I read it on the internet. 17. Artist: Various Title: The World Beyond Label: Neogoa Date: March, 20 2015 01 - Chapter I: The Vision (Passing The Monolith Into The Throat Of Time) (120 BPM) 02 - Chapter II: The Journey (Across The Silver Sea Of Eternal Life) (100 BPM) 03 - Chapter III: The Gate (Facing The Keeper Below The Human-Form Mountain) (136 BPM) 04 - Chapter IV: The Sphere (Ascending Towards Star-Eaters To Become The One) (146 BPM) "Hear ye hear ye! By decree of the order of goa trance purists we decree that the final two tracks on this compilation performed by heretofore unknown artisans are perfect in every aspect that can be measured by our mortal systems of worth. Furthermore it shall be exalted to the highest plane, be it physical, mental, or spiritual and will forever be the standard by which all further attempts at goa awesomeness shall be judged!" Bravo Neogoa. Bravo. You've really done it this time. As a netlabel you've been dedicated to keeping the spirit and vibe of goa trance alive; constantly and consistently pushing the music to shatter boundaries and preconceived notions of what it can be. Accompanied by stunning artwork the music is always freely given and with this release a new standard has been set. Though only 4 tracks the journey is a full albums length, beginning slowly before shattering expectations in a nuclear crescendo of goa trance wizardry. This is a concept release made by eight artists all of whom have previously appeared on releases from the label. Embedded within the artwork one will find hints of connection to previous Neogoa releases, particularly the Dimensional Gateway series and Celestial Transvibrations. We often talk in terms of releases not breaking any new ground, but this one does. Chapter I: The Vision (Passing The Monolith Into The Throat Of Time) I realize that every journey begins somewhere and to get to the World Beyond, this is the first step. But to me this is 17 (yep 17) minutes of stumbling around in an attic like the ghosts in Scooby Doo. Dark ambient when done well captures a feeling and propels the listener where the artist wants he or she to go. This sounds like a collection of noises that I skip every time. Perhaps it will appeal to some and that's good. No big deal, I don't get opera either and people love that sh*t. Chapter II: The Journey (Across The Silver Sea Of Eternal Life) is the bridge between the opening track and the outright earthquake that is to come. Like the others it's dark ambient opening sets the tone before it glides into a mid-tempo march. Goa sounds and effects ricochet off the walls as it prepares you for the oncoming train. It's mellow yet entrancing in it's own right and then changes tempo and adds a tribal aspect to its arsenal. Not devastating like the next two, but it's not supposed to be. The journey and understanding...take time. Chapter III: The Gate (Facing The Keeper Below The Human-Form Mountain) is the precursor to the blistering final chapter, but is a stomper in its own right. It also allows the dark tension to build before bouncing into another old school feel. The bounce on this one is infectious instantly morphing the worst dancers into a rhythmic Shiva where colors flow from magical fingertips in an elaborate tapestry of mystical dance. The vocal tacet seals the deal and I've just punched my ticket to Nirvana. Excuse me whilst I get down. Chapter IV: The Sphere (Ascending Towards Star-Eaters To Become The One). This track is an acidic napalm blast peering through darkness at the outset. Growling 303's are readily apparent and it sends electrical shivers through the atmosphere. 23 minutes of hurtling through the cosmos, top down system up! A perfect blend of old school rawness with modern sound and production. I believe all the old masters who delivered subpar post goa releases (looking right at you MFG and Pleiadians) should listen to this and learn how beautiful and raw goa trance can be today. A third of the way through and I already think this is one of the greatest goa tracks ever produced. The intensity is maintained as is the atmosphere and I realize I am in the presence of greatness. The break is palpable, a thing alive. Perfect. Sublime. Ruthless. Mystical. You heard Homer. I'll be honest with you. I don't have the patience to figure out the riddle. I've got kids and I had to take one of them to the emergency room on Friday. So I'll leave the mystery solving to Scoob, Shags, and you guys. But whomever was responsible for the energy, the journey, take a bow. The final two tracks for me are the most potent one-two punch I've experienced in recent memory. Ivan you once again have guided the music to a world beyond, with awesome sound, breathtaking presentation, and reassurance that just when you think you've gone as far as you can go the horizon is within reach. 18. Artist: Various Title: Penguin Rebellion Label: Nexus Media Date: June, 2004 1. Shift & Slug - Odd Kitty 2. Slug - Penguin Rebellion 3. Broken Toy - Send More Money (Shift Remix) 4. Shift - Impervious To Poison (Remix) 5. Shift & Slug - The Apocalypse Cow (Shift Remix) 6. Shift - Xtrasensory (Remix) 7. Slug - Adjust 8. Shift - Digital DNA (Slug Remix) 9. Artifakt - Reborn This is the South African sound all the way. Two artists sometimes paired together, sometimes with their own tracks, and sometimes remixing other tracks. Looking back it's funny to read the comments from Lemmiwinks in the initial review. Chris Hoy is the South African sound and when this came out he was just getting warmed up. I'm a Shift fan, but I'm also honest as the day is long. So with that being said I wanted to like this much more than I actually did. Don't get me wrong it's typical Shift with big beats and acid aplenty and is far from a bad release. But as I mentioned this was relatively early on in his career so he hadn't reached the pinnacle yet. I believe his remixes of The Apocalypse Cow and Xtrasensory are things of beauty. Now on to the other guy. I know Slug is Liam Gibbs (Half of Pitch Hikers and co-owner of the Nexus Media label), but his tracks seemed thinner than those of Chris with a little too much time with very little occurring. Too full-oney. And just like with this compilation I feel when he is paired with someone the results are better. Whether or not you believe him to be carried by another artist, well I'll leave that to you. Just putting it out there. Did like his remix of Digital DNA. The final track by Artifakt (Head of Timecode and also a sound engineer; does good work in that regard btw) is slower, but typical of Matthew's techno electro-scratchings. His sound is very identifiable, but put me in the camp of one who isn't impressed. Different yes. Good? Meh. So all in all this sounds like a compilation of South African psytrance from the mid 2000's. And that's what it is. Better than average, but not terrific or a must have. Well, for me it's a must have it has Shift on it and it's from Nexus Media. My OCD would be f*cking screaming if I didn't own it. Psyshop Mdk
  19. Artist: Various Title: Psycho Acoustics Label: Reckless Rhythm Records Date: August, 2010 1. CPU - Waveform 2. Shift - Ice Age 3. Toxic Vs. Abomination - Unfinished Business 4. Seroxat - Who's The Enemy? 5. Wizard Lizard - Pain killer 6. Damage - Go Get Stupid 7. Combat - Mind Revolution 8. Sector D - Chain Reaction 9. Neuromotor - Free Mind In a Reckless World 10. Penta - Everybody Goes Crazy I believe there is a hierarchy for all things. For example pizza. It's all personal preference, but personally I like Pizza Hut for eating and Little Cesar's for doormat purposes. Cows eat grass, people eat cows, and dinosaurs eat people. That's a fact. When it comes to watching sports there's hockey, football, and then all the other crap. And don't hit me with soccer is the most popular around the world. Of course it is, you don't have to have any money to play it. It's a no brainer to choose soccer when you can't spend a month's wages on one f*cking skate. F*ck you don't even need shoes or a ball to play soccer. Didn't Pele kick a bunch of rags tied together? Hierarchy. Don't disturb it. Same goes for aliens. I personally believe they're not all created equal. Some are highly intelligent and takeover planets and then there are f*cktards like these who crash land in Alabama and get seen by drunk rednecks and then have to resort to anal probing. Think aliens want to probe your anus? Sounds like that job is saved for low organism on the totem pole. The debut compilation for this label certainly assembled some really well known names didn't they? And I think these pros saw this label and began to salivate. "Sure we'll sell you some of our latest tracks! Hot off the presses!" Suckers. For f*cks sake the Combat track was already 4 years old when it made it onto this spaceship. Meanwhile the tracks are hollow, shallow, rough drafts that are far from any of their best work. Every single one of them lack creativity or depth. No journey, no story just tired full-on. Why the f*ck should I care about a track when it's obvious the people who made it didn't give a sh*t? I think that cover says it all. Three aliens thinking they're going to take over this world when all they're really going to do is stick a metal pole up Cartman's fat ass. You've been Reckless Rhythmed. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk
  20. Artist: Various Title: Skydivers Label: Nutek Records Date: August, 2006 1. Madnetic - Off Topic 2. Absolum Vs. GMS - The Therapy (Live Rmx) 3. Bliss - Viking Craft 4. Sirius Isness - Mercury Retrograde 5. CPU - Close Your Eyes 6. Mekkanikka - Hill Bily Boy 7. V-Storm - Acid In My Fridge 8. Painkiller - Substain 9. Menog Vs. Space Tribe - Spiritual Experience 10. Painkiller Vs. Bliss - Goblin Fever One day I plan to attempt sky diving. Of course it'll be when the kids are all grown up and by that time I'll be old enough that I won't give a f*ck which way it turns out. Hopefully for the best, but you never know. This is the very first release from Nutek Records, a label which began in 2006 by former psytrance artist CPU. I say former because any psychedelic creativity from Sammy has been drop kicked over a cliff long ago. Have you heard his music lately? Pee-Yew. So of course this, the maiden voyage of the label is chock full of commercial full-on masquerading as night time acidic madness. And like those who have launched themselves out of a plane I immediately regret this decision. Don't be fooled by the tracklist. Repetitive samples, exhausting buildups, and plenty of mood killing stops and starts make this jumping out of a perfectly good plane without a parachute. It's a race to the bottom with craptacular efforts from all concerned with the trophy going to the sample heavy, vomit inducing Acid in My Fridge. It could go down as one of the top ten worst tracks of all time. That's quite an achievement considering how long full-on has been around, but rest assured it's well earned. The only track that I would consider saving is Spiritual Experience and you can find that track on the Kaleidoscopic Visions compilation. Therefore this disc is wholly unnecessary and I certainly would've nudged this bloated f*ck out of the plane before he got his chute on. First impressions are a fact of life and ever since this came out I cannot bring myself to listen to anything from this label. If you are so intent on making un-psychedelic music then why not just do something else? Promo: "10 mind blowing tracks that will bring some Nu-tek into your ears..." Oh hell no. I'd rather sit next to this guy. Psyshop Mdk

Artist: Various Title: West Label: FreeAnce Date: December, 2008 1. Mr. Peculiar - West (Mindelight RMX) 2. Shake - Shaked World 3. Twilight - Super Sonic 4. Mindelight - Dynamite 5. Ananda Shake - Love, Secrets, and God 6. Under Beat - Turbo Brake 7. Eclypso - For the Girl 8. Mindelight & Sharigrama - We Are One (Mindelight RMX) 9. Blue MD - Higher Oh f*ck this one was hard to swallow. I'm not going to beat around the bush with this one. I'm just going to give you some advice that you should really follow. Ok...just skip the first two tracks unless you feel like stabbing your ears with a sharpened pencil. It's not until Super Sonic that you get to some full on that isn't bottom of the barrel type stuff. There is of course a western theme so you have to put up with harmonica's and boogie woogie type nonsense. If you didn't know that when you bought it or for some ridiculous reason bought without listening then please follow the following steps. Go to the nearest automobile, open the car door and stick your penis in, and then repeatedly open and close the door with force. Listening to this will have the same effect. It's science. Where were we? Love, Secrets, and God is the type of full-on that is what you would expect Ananda Shake to create. It's like cotton candy, good for a time but after a bit it'll just give you a headache. Turbo Brake was so unflinchingly uplifting I felt it should've come with it's own hashtag. #suckmybuildup or #Ish*tflowers. One of the shining lights on this disaster was For the Girl with its funky bass line groove, but it eventually reverted to full-on diarrhea. Mindelight seems to be the chief offender here (Dynamite deserves two f*ck yous) and his third track makes me wish someone made him go get pizza so they could replace his tracks with the sound of dial up internet. The merciful final track provides the final kick in the pills with a house like vocal that claims she will take me higher. And what could be more psychedelic than a trumpet. Get the f*ck outta here with that. So let me be clear. There is absolutely nothing psychedelically redeemable about this compilation. It's full-on to the bone and mostly sh*tty full-on that as you can tell by the beginning of the review will bring about certain dry heaves. Sorry about your junk...it's the only way you'll learn. Psyshop *Link provided so you can be as miserable as the music made me Mdk
  22. I think the kick reached through my speakers and kicked me. Very loud. The whole thing is though. Still not bad, but to say that some of the shine has worn off the diamond would be an understatement. Mdk
  23. Artist: Various Title: Electrosect Label: Atomic Records Date: July, 1999 1. Phreaky - Techno Prisoners 2. The Antidote - C3PO 3. Tortured Brain - Metallic 4. Apocalyptic - First It Was A Dream 5. Voodoo People - Baby Blue 6. Tim Schuldt - File Damage 7. EBSG - Take a Ride 8. Cydonia - Anaconda 9. Man With No Name - Equatoria Ugh. Nothing. Zippo. Big fat zero. I could not find a single track on this compilation that stuck with me. It's psychedelic trance with a techno spirit and you would think that with artists like Tim Schuldt and Cydonia there would be some engrossing tracks. Something evolving with twists and turns. Alas no. All of the tracks seem to drone on in an endless march towards the end of a cliff. I suppose it's ok for the first 30 seconds, but when you start looking to see how much time is left on each track it's not a good sign. Keep it moving people, nothing to see here. Mdk
  24. This is still a monster. A monster dragon breathing acidic fire and stomping villages with its big beat feets! If I had to put his albums in order beginning with the most awesome it would look something like this: Excession Alternator DIrty Signal Byte Me Redline All of them are really good though if you like that South African sound.
