Most of the time they are harmless. Very rarely leads to a retinal detachment, but it does happen on occasion. More than anything your eye doctor will tell you that it's something you monitor. Most likely worse case scenario? PVD. Posterior vitreous detachment. As listed it's worse in bright light (sunny day with snow on the ground is the worst) and they can get worse with age. High blood pressure can make them increase. If I can give anybody any eye advice it would be this. Do not. Under any circumstances. Sleep in your contact lenses. Even if they say you can do so on the box. Mdk

Not like I don't have plenty of stuff to listen to, but I came across his album Implosion that I downloaded of mp3.com many moons ago. It's just a sh*tty 128 mbps copy, but it's still impressive. Anybody have any info on him other than the Discogs stuff? I haven't heard his other album Species listed on Discogs, but if it's anything like Implosion it might be worthwhile to see if we can get that released in better quality. I'd pay for it. Mdk

From my end I appreciate the explanation of things more than cryptic or snarky comments. Let's save those for the reviews! Surely I cannot be the only funny guy on the internet. For the record I in no way believe that Anjuna gives two sh*ts about my money. Their mission statement says they don't do it for the money and I have no reason to believe otherwise. Sure it sucks that I still don't have the Moonweed CD, but it will eventually get here. No reason to lose sleep over it and I still have lots of music to get through until it arrives. I would also love a download after pre-order purchase as it would make everyone relax, feel more patient and secure about their purchase, and I know it would get the reviews out faster. As consumers we don't see the behind the scenes problems and I'm sure the label hates the fact that things don't go well as it becomes a reflection on them. So the moral of the story is communication. As long as there is that everything else will work itself out. Mdk

Artist: Various Title: TIP Singles Vol. 3 Label: TIP Records Date: February 1998 01. 08'08" Growlmonizer : Growlmonizer 02. 07'43" Slinky Nuns : Stun Gun 03. 09'28" Sas/Ban/Tony : Xtra Terresticle 04. 10'35" Lotus Omega : Lighthouse 05. 06'26" Systembusters : Skuffed 06. 07'53" The Infinity Project : Overwind 07. 10'53" The Deviant : Mururoa My Love 08. 09'57" Psychopod : Stop The Carnage 09. 06'52" GMS : One Small Creature Sometimes you have to get away to really immerse yourself in the music. Normally I'd be hitting the trails, but having to explain to my wife that her two angels were a bear's second breakfast while I was twirling is not a conversation I'm interested in entertaining. So what's a reviewer to do? Get a little alone time with an old friend that never asks for anything and gladly takes everything I throw at it. The toilet. Sure it ain't the most comfortable seat in the house... "Do you mind?" ...ahem, as I was saying it's not the most comfortable seat in the house, but the interruptions are delightfully limited. The third chapter in the TIP Singles series finds itself smack dab in transition. Ah she's a Bonnie lass this one. Not supermodel hot, but pretty enough to not catch sh*t from your boys when you get her in the crosshairs. Neither melodic nor minimal it surfs the nebulous are between goa and psy with loads of effects and bubbling sounds designed to create an atmosphere. Back when GMS didn't elicit mandatory eye rolls this compilation strikes with a harder psychedelic edge some might simply write off as aural nonsense. But if you devote some quality time to get deep inside this (might I suggest the toilet) you'll be rewarded for your efforts. I wasn't but I prefer a compilation that doesn't treat melody like it has the AIDS virus. It's definitely not gonna be on anyone's top ten list, but it will appeal to those of less discriminating tastes where melody isn't a requirement. The one thing I'll say is don't go into this with glory day goa expectations or you'll be sh*tting angry. And that's not healthy. Mdk

Artist: Various Title: Prana Remix Ep Vol. 3 Label: Matsuri Digital Date: December, 2014 1. Alien Pets (Filteria's Kami-No-Michi Remix) 2. Boundless (Skizologic Remix) 3. Alien Pets (Trinodia Remix) 4. Boundless (Nervasystem Remix) Having reviewed the first volume in the series it seemed only natural to tackle another one. Missed the second one (on my way to Beatport as we speak) but the third volume gets two resounding thumbs up from me. Two of the best known Prana tracks get a makeover and they will be a welcome addition to your goa arsenal. Filteria and Trinodia knock it out of the park with their storming versions of Alien Pets. The Skizologic remix is rather low key, but still good. The Nervasystem remix cuts the tempo and has a funky, sinister vibe to it. It's all superbly done and sounds great. After being disappointed with Volume One I feel pretty good about throwing 6 bucks Beatport's way. Beatport Mdk

Artist: Hiyarant Title: Collision Label: MMD Records Date: November, 2007 1. Collision 2. Smug 3. Mechanism Version 2.0 4. Lead Better 5. Fire 6. Osaka 7. Frozen Ghost - Multiprey (remix) 8. Right Off 9. Use {R Frien} Dly 10. Untitled "You will witness what has happened here today and you will tell of it later!" "That's right "Gloria" you're not my mother! And I f*cking hate meatloaf!" How to describe this, how to describe this...Thumping kicks, often impossibly low bass lines that could move tectonic plates, and night time acid washes that would peel the daylight off of a beach. It's hard and aggressive (at times being an all out bombastic assault) with ample metallic sounds and cool samples. If you think the South African sound is all over this then give yourself a cookie. MMD is that label from the dark continent not named Timecode or Nexus Media. This album is perfect for when you wanna get all aggro and break some sh*t. Girlfriend slept with your best friend? This'll do. Dipsh*t cuts you off in traffic? Turn it up. Step mom throws away all your best porno mags? Yeah this is what you want. BTW Gloria I love meatloaf so you can send that sh*t my way. Had to mention this as well. After 42 seconds of what sounds like tuning a radio (tracks 10-15) the final track is...well it's kind of...you know I don't know what the f*ck it is. Artist: Various Title: A Pinch of Psychedelic Label: Space Tribe Music Date: June, 2005 1. Space Tribe - A Pinch of Psychedelic 2. Electric Universe - Fully Awake 3. Space Tribe & Sirius Isness - Dead Serious 4. CPU - On Air 5. Dark Nebula - Pheremone 415 6. Eskimo, Legohead, & Ozzy - Imaginary Headphones 7. Theoreme - Sapporo 8. Psywalker - Hellfire 9. Safi Connection - Full On String Fully Awake That's it. Game over. Even if every other track on this compilation was a Skazi track. The same Skazi track remixed by Skazi's three legged blind dog, Fully Awake is so unbelievably bad ass that you still buy it. It is for my money one of the best psytrance tracks from Boris and quite possibly my favorite of all time. Luckily that Skazi nightmare has yet to be wrought upon us and we could easily just download the one we want from Beatport. Of course this album is not just a one hit wonder with almost equally brilliant stuff from CPU (yes, that one), Space Tribe of course, and an acidic choon from Theoreme. Well worth a purchase. Mdk

As someone who went to school to become an optometrist I can tell you that unless the floaters are ridiculously problematic surgery is the last thing you want to do. We usually just live with them and as you noticed they get worse when in bright conditions. You see it's a piece of the gelatinous material in front of the retina called the vitreous that sort of pulls away from the eye, creating the floater. Now as a myope you have to watch the condition. The worse the myopia the greater the risk of retinal detatchment. That risk however is quite small. Tomorrow we'll discuss the need for adequate sun protection. Mdk

After ordering it in early December I received an e-mail that it had been sent back to the label. A few weeks later I received a new email that it had now been mailed a second time. That was a week ago. We shall see. It's not just Anjuna on my end. I'm still waiting for two CDs from Zion604. Usually they're great, but this time...maybe since the radical distortion album didn't come out since January 15th that's why it's taking so long. At least I got downloads from them. Are you mad at me Israel? MDK

Artist: Kalya Scintilla Title: Dance The Spiral Never Ending Label: Merkaba Music Date: January, 2012 01 - Rises In The East (80 BPM) 02 - Whomp Shanti (85 BPM) 03 - Bone & Stone (70 BPM) 04 - The Sands Of Grime (90 BPM) 05 - Break Belief Bounce (feat. Alice Spacedoll) (100 BPM) 06 - Listen With Your Heart (70 BPM) 07 - Caravan Planet (100 BPM) 08 - Swaggered (104 BPM) 09 - Way Of The Tarot (95 BPM) 10 - The Velvet Squish (70 BPM) 11 - Dance The Spiral Never Ending (feat. Alice Spacedoll) (105 BPM) "I'm all about that bass, bout that bass, no treble!" Get it big guy. Smooches! "Sure I could get up at dawn..." "Go to a job I hate that does not inspire me creatively, for the rest of my life..." "Or I could wake up at noon and learn how to play the sitar." F*ck you Daisy you can have that little mouse d*ck motherf*cker. Take Asian melodies, some oh so juicy bass, and throw in random glitchy electronic swagger and you've got this album. Originally released in 2012 it is now being offered freely by your favorite free music site. I think this guy loves him some weed based on sample usage and track titles. The album itself is a great mix of ethnic acoustic instruments and the ever present wobbly bass. But it's not just bloops and bleeps around a bass line. I mean that's in there, but there are melodies and intricate layers as well. Some of the coolest things I found in here were drum loops from songs you've heard on the radio. The track lengths are also kept fairly short (none reach 6 minutes) to keep the listener from burn out. Pun intended. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artist: Psychaos Title: Chaos To Order / Mindwash EP Label: Transient Records Date: January, 1998 1. Chaos To Order 2. Mindwash Joti and his warped mind bring you Chaos to Order. Futuristic cyber-goa with an eerie android sample. Dark atmosphere for sure and I felt totally out of control. Mindwash is less gripping yet still has the same dark vibe and wanton destructive pattern. Side note Mindwash was re-released on Zion604's Phoenix compilation back in 2013. But you goa heads already knew that didn't you? Mdk

Artist: Dragon Twins Title: Only For The Wicked Label: Neogoa Date: December, 2014 1. Entwined 2. Only For The Wicked 3. Daimon - Codex (Dragon Twins Remix) 4. Time Has A Mouth 5. Inner Caveman Dub Neogoa is a netlabel that has been hooking your broke ass up with quality goa trance music since the last white guy was president. At least it seems that way. To be honest if you aren't aware of the massive contribution Neogoa has made for goa trance then I also assume your network consists of two dixie cups and a ball of yarn. Run by Richpa this label has been instrumental in providing some of the best goa music FOR FREE. One of his latest releases is this EP by forum regular Djuna aka Belgian Mathias Pico aka...Dragon Twins. Seems funny to me that Dragon Twins is one guy. Twins...two. Anyone else? The EP opens with an eerie ambient intro and launches right into Only For The Wicked. A screechy tune to be sure, but a great set up to his remix of Daimon's Codex. Now in the spirit of full disclosure that track is one of my absolute favorites. The remix is different yet no less bombastic and I enjoyed his take on it greatly. Time Has a Mouth is a psychedelic goa track with a hydra like number of heads. Thumping kick and squirrely 303. The final track is a downtempo goa one that crept along alien bubbles. Really good stuff. Bottom line this is a great EP (again for free) with good flow and great goa trance. The artwork is impressive (hi-fives Richpa) and the mastering by Stryder gives this a clean sound for hours of repeated plays. There has been some debate as to whether the mastering takes away from the quality of the music (a complaint that is unfortunately leveled against a lot of releases). I'm no audiophile, but I can tell you this. It fills my house with some awesome sound. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artist: Various Title: Nataraja Label: POF Music Date: 1995 1. Joking Sphinx - Cralacoffo 2. Blue Planet Corporation - Antidote 3. Danshi-Denshi - Tikitatum 4. Man of the Last 3rd- No Name 5. Prana - Mugen 6. Synchro - Colourblind Shellfish 7. Amanite FX - The Secret of Mana 8. Magnetic Pulstar - Pulse (Man of the Last 3rd Mix) 9. Emmanuel Top - Tri Cid Ladies and gentlemen here we have proof that not everything goa trance related from 1995 was worth a sh*t. Antidote is the obvious star here, but all the people reading this already have that track. So what else? I suppose a wink and a nod towards Tikitatum and the Secret of Mana are warranted, but after that it's slim pickings. The majority of this compilation seemed offended that I was awake. Since I'm shelling out honorable mentions, one has to go to Emmanuel Top for making one of the most boring tracks I've heard in quite some time. Kudos sir. The only way this would be worth saving is if the edges of the disc were super sharp. And you were a ninja who left his throwing stars at a Starbucks waiting for your Venti Iced Skinny Hazelnut Macchiato, Sugar-Free Syrup, Extra Shot, Light Ice, No Whip. I have no idea what that gibberish means. I found it on the interwebz. Mdk

Know what I take from this re-release? Blue Energy and Sillenium. That's all. Blue Energy is a classic in goa trance with great melodies and delicate attention to detail in the mode of Blue Planet Corporation. Blue Synergy has Sillenium and...not a whole lot else. Still it's a worthwhile get and something I would consider paying a hefty sum for. Mdk

Artist: Braincell Title: Frequency Evolution Label: Glowing Flame Records Date: September, 2008 1. Squeezer 2. Warp Zone 3. Anti Gravity 4. Human V2 5. Enhanced Disclosure 6. Time Tunnel 7. Don't disturb the snake 8. Vibrations (Braincell rmx) 9. Bodyspeaker 2008 10. Daybreak "We have a golden opportunity right now to join the rest of the universe in peace." You do peace and we will wage seemingly unending wars that never really solve any of the underlying problems. It's what we do. Fish gotta swim. Birds gotta eat. This is the third album from Ralph and unfortunately his last with GFR. It's driving music with bubbling growls and juicy tidbits. Intelligent full-on with plenty of little touches that increase the album's depth. There is a warmth in the production and the leads are charged with electricity. As previously mentioned there is some old school flare to be found here also. The only downside I found is that at times he ventured into the un-evolving repetitive full-on side of things. While not as dominant as Transformation of Reality it is still pretty good. Psyshop - At $10.60 that's a good deal. Mdk

Artist: Abomination Title: Nicolas C.A.G.E. EP Label: Mechanik Records Date: September, 2014 1. Brain Attack - The Spirit (Abomination Remix) 2. Nicolas Cage 3. Backwards "Welcome to the Rock!" Rock f*cking bottom you mean. These are the same guys who made The Enemy Within and Planet X? Really? Their third album Incognito was a terrible snoozefest, but I was ready to give them a second chance. You don't just make two good albums and then suck right? I don't know if there's a Yoko Ono situation going on here or what, but changes need to be made. This is stop and start sample heavy pablum with no depth whatsoever. I've stepped in deeper puddles. This is truly...an abomination. Beatport Mdk

Yes have to agree here. I realize life can get hectic, but in the end when you take people's money you are running a business. As a customer I expect timely delivery and for whatever reason this has not occurred. Full support to the label as their releases are fantastic; but it's now approaching two months and still no cds. That's unacceptable for any business model. MDK

Artist: Frequency Surfer Title: Respect Label: Inpsyde Media Date: June, 2003 1. Reaction 2. Elstir 3. Universal 4. Suspiria 5. Phenomenon 6. Heavy 7. El Bepi 8. Lucifero 9. Moonswing R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Oh girl. Who the f*ck let you out looking like that? Your lack of self-respect is troubling. Those sloppy milk jugs could touch your toes before you can. Ok then...sufficiently horrified? Somebody please hand the gentleman in the back this wastepaper basket he looks to be ill. This is Sebastian Claro who dropped this one album and then went on to govern the small country of Luxembourg. Maybe. Probably. Sh*t I don't know. What I do know is that before a life of possible political corruption and questionable soul singer blind dates his one and only album was a powerful mix of goa and psy. Not readily seen in 2003, otherwise known as the year before we were introduced to Suntrip Records. Respect is full of deep psychedelic thumpers with the aforementioned goa licks. The melodies aren't the elaborate kind like you would hear today, but the dark atmospheres and effects capably fill the void. Good album and just a cup size away from very good. I would say this is similar to the work of Fractal Glider. So if you liked his style of music you should check it out. Mdk

Your stress levels must be through the roof. A pill of the chilled variety would do you good. I know the world can be a terrible place, but with just a little positive thinking and change in focus we could all be getting our dick wet. Can a brother get some fornication? How about masturbation? Domination? A little erotic asphyxiation? There...feel better? I'd much rather be in the sex camp than what the track titles describe. But like other have pointed out this is a concept album and they're embracing the concept that the world is a deeply violent and troubled place. And who could blame them? Paris ain't gonna do it. Whatever country in Africa Boko Haram is terrorizing ain't gonna do it. And ask any parent of the kids murdered in that Pakistani school and you'll be serenaded with the chorus of "F*ck terrorism!" It just proves that subsets of we as a people have been sadistic and evil for a long f*cking time. As you can imagine the tracks are dark, brutal, and violent. Some might as well be the soundtrack to human sacrifice. Man we as a people really suck. I feel depressed now. Some good night time music (I've stopped saying Twilight cause it makes me feel gay). Some...not all. Well, a couple. Sh*t why am I keeping this? This stuff is more music that hasn't weathered time very well. Mdk

Listening to music should be a pleasant experience. It shouldn't be hard work. Reading DeathPosture's review this album seems like it should be my cup of tea. Right in the 'ol wheelhouse. Sadly, no. Timeless this is not. When I first heard it almost a decade ago it felt psychedelic as hell. Unfortunately it doesn't hold up well and seems kind of stale. For it's time I suppose it was deep and cutting edge with cool movie samples and acid barrages. Now it's a chore to get through. And I have enough chores. Mdk
