  1. Artist: Braincell Title: Universal Language Label: Glowing Flame Records Date: 2005 1. Something To Explore 2. One Year After 3. In The Cave 4. Emdiemy 5. Micro Modulator 6. There Is More On This World 7. The Milky Way 8. Mushroom Forest 9. Brainwork 10. Morphing Structures 11. Night Flight In this world of perpetual disagreements I believe the one thing we all have in common is the belief in a universal language. "Is it ingrish?" Great answer, but not what I was looking for. By the way...there's a Mongorian behind you. "Boobs. Definitely boobs." You would think that and it definitely gets my vote. I know that when I'm speaking to a woman with large breasts everything seems a lot more interesting. But there are actually people out there that don't care for boobs. *Mind Blown* Hmmm....got me there. Nope the language of which I speak is of course music and everyone loves it. Sure we won't agree on what type is best (nor should we), but what we can agree on is that life would be real sh*tty without it. Braincell is Ralph Knobloch from Switzerland and his debut album is a psychedelic buffet of twisting and undulating synths. The sounds are crunchy and the layers are plentiful. Anyone who was familiar with the Glowing Flame sound will understand the quality psytrance they brought to the table. This is solid evolving stuff from a guy who's next album gets exponentially better.

    V/A - Transient 7

So...you like cauliflower then? Keep that weak sh*t away from my BBQ! That's the great thing about our music. There were so many compilations where tracks were recycled that if you didn't like some of the tracks chances were good the ones you did like were on other compilations that were better. I liked some of the tracks (probably some parts of all of them), but for me those parts were surrounded by too much I didn't like. Life is too short (and hard drives too small) to hang on to underachievers. But I like what we're doing here...differing opinions, respectful discussion. Makes for a better forum. Seriously though... cauliflower sucks. Mdk
  3. Artist: Brainwash Title: Brainwash & Friends Label: Fractal Records Date: October, 2012 1. Acidbrain - Feelings 2. Brainwash feat. Magneto - I Have a Voice 3. Brainwash feat Zinx - Brainscan 4. Brainwash feat Sinful Reactions - Destroy It 5. Brainwash feat. Khopat - Version 3 6. Brainwash feat Alienn - Second Level of Storm 7. Brainwash feat Brain Hunters - Massive Army 8. Brainwash feat Freeze - Alive "What's so funny, c'mon lemme look at it." Nothing good ever came after this sentence was spoken. Case in point whatever this headache is. Buildups, buildups, and more buildups. Oh the buildups. But wait...there's more! Stops and starts and so many repeated phrases. I know we loop sh*t in this genre, but give me f*cking break. This is sonic regurgitation with samples galore. It plays at twilight music, but this trojan horse is fooling no one. It's commercial full-on tripping all over itself to reveal its inane nature. Have you no shame? There are some good acid deluges, but they're shoehorned in between all the other terrible bullsh*t. The cast of characters is impressive as they have each made much, much better music than this. It's just full steam ahead without any attention to detail. Wonder what they have in common. If I could just put my finger on it... And I don't know what the f*ck Fractal Records was thinking. Oh well, one step forward, two steps back. Don't get Brainwashed. I'm not linking to this. Support your own bad habits. Mdk
  4. Artist: Cybernetika Title: Solar Nexus Label: Ektoplazm Date: June, 2014 01 - Artificial Bloodline (80 BPM) 02 - Neuronal Interface (178 BPM) 03 - Distress Beacon (177 BPM) 04 - Monolithic (179 BPM) 05 - Bio-Magnetic Tunnel Transport (179 BPM) 06 - Stinger (178 BPM) 07 - Sol Nexus (160 BPM) 08 - Constellations (179 BPM) 09 - The Outcast Of Deadspace (150 BPM) Ladies and gentlemen please raise your glass to one of the greatest unsigned artists of all time. Though I'm sure it's done solely by his own choosing. Lars Goosens has returned with his 9th album that tells the story of genetically modified humans who after an absence of a millennium suddenly return with technology that surpasses the wildest dreams of all who came before them. This is a dark and symphonic journey through the farthest reaches of the galaxy. There is a palpable sense of foreboding as if we normal humans have bitten off more than we can chew. These mutants...friend or foe. I used to think that drum and bass was a very limited medium where there were only so many places you could go. After an interminably long absence Cybernetika proves me wrong. Again. Is it possible to miss someone you've never met? His compositions are so lush and multi-layered that they beg to be explored. Melodies don't float they scream over the oftentimes cacophonous background. Someone mentioned that the rapid percussion is a distraction from the treasure that lay underneath. Maybe. Until you listen to the complexity of that percussion and realize it's all part of a rich tapestry. This blazes a trail across the cosmos combining sci-fi atmosphere with the heavy hitting industrial sound. How can something so punishing be so beautiful? And just when the speed becomes too much and almost rends the sinewy flesh from your physical form he delivers emotionally charged and melancholic breaks that lead you where he wants you to go. Growly distortion and futuristic android cybernetics permeate the landscape. It's unrelenting hyperspace travel that show how far advanced these mutants are over the human race. Which is a pretty good metaphor for his crystal clear production and imagination. I know I don't have to say this, but... Do. Not. Sleep. On. This. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  5. Artist: Various Title: Goa Spirit 3 - Hard Psychedelic Trance Label: Cyber Production Date: June, 1998 01. Growling Mad Synchro : Bandicoot On The Run 02. Quirk : Dark Matter 03. Twisted Travellers : Twisted Travelling 04. The Delta : As A Child I Could Walk On the Ceiling 05. Prometheus Process : Clarity From The Deep Fog 06. Koxbox : Life Is A Gas (X-Dream Rmx) 07. Quirk : Ping 08. Killing Joke : Intellect (Johan Rmx) 09. Green Nuns Of The Revolution : Ring Of Fire Not feeling this one. Sorry I'm not. Some great tracks of course like Ring of Fire from the Nuns and the Bandicoot is really psychedelic. But the rest are leaving the storming goa behind and opting for more of a noise making psytrance vibe. I never understood the appeal of the Delta track and Clarity From a Deep Fog takes forever to get to where it's enjoyable. And a track based around a ping pong match? Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! Add to the fact that most of the tracks are available elsewhere and this is far from essential. Mdk

    V/A - Transient 7

Artist: Various Title: Transient VII - Genetically Modified Trance Label: Transient Records Date: April, 1999 CD 1 01. 07'34" Cosmosis And DJ Pied Piper : Grindwinder 02. 08'30" Sheyba : Inside Out 03. 08'42" Human Blue : Planetarium 04. 07'27" Fidget And Slide : Overdose 05. 07'42" Mumbo Jumbo And DJ Kuma : Kinda Weird 06. 09'22" Bamboo Forest : Automix 07. 08'58" Astral Projection : Visions Of Nasca 08. 06'47" Slide : Cartoon Land 09. 07'33" Mino And Sangeet : 3D Cauliflower. It sucks. You know it sucks. End of discussion. Nobody ever brings cauliflower to a BBQ or even sets it out on a vegetable plate. It's like nature's very own fart cloud. I don't care how much cheese or ground up bacon you put on that sh*t it's still a bland, unappealing vegetable. Carrots? You can glaze those bad boys up and make 'em taste like candy. Potatoes? I don't think it's possible to f*ck up a potato. Fry it, mash it, bake it...all good. But cauliflower is a non starter. Like riding a bike with square wheels. And that's what I think of this compilation. The melodic days of goa were in the rear view at this time as was the glory of the Transient series. It was a time of transition towards experimental psy and less complex arrangements. Sure they recycle the Astral classic here, but it sticks out like a roasted sausage on a vegetable skewer. Yeah you'll eat it and wonder how the hell it got there smiling at your good fortune, but then you'll just throw the rest of that crap away. Besides you know you have sausage at home. Planetarium is an ok carrot and Grindwinder is a great bacon wrapped scallop. And now you look like a freak cause you're hoarding the tray of bacon wrapped scallops as if you were a convict that just got a second chicken pot pie. But after that you're left with broccoli in your teeth and a lot of noisy and uncomfortable farting. I suppose the 2nd CD as a mix CD is good for DJ's, but...I dunno. If you have a bowl of crap what the hell is mixing it gonna do? Then you'll start thinking about how good that sausage tasted and wondering what the f*ck you were doing at a vegetable BBQ in the first place. It's wrong. Vegetable. BBQ. Those words don't even go together. Mdk

    Shift-Byte Me

Artist: sHiFt Title: Byte Me Label: Crystal Matrix Date: May, 2006 1. Dubmention (Breakbeat rmx) 2. The Rift 3. Dune II 4. Pagan Sunrise 5. Sin In Motion 6. Slide 7. DMMT - Real Men Don’t Dance (Shift rmx) 8. Byte Me 9. Ear Dis 10. Komatose "Women have this weird myth that you can tell how good a guy is in bed by how good he is on the dance floor." Stop staring b*tches the line forms to the left! By this time South Afrikaner Chris Hoy (sHiFt, and part of the Pitch Hikers and Twisted System) had 2 solo albums under his belt and would be hard pressed to top his previous effort Excession. Of which I think actually ripped open a thin slice of heaven so the Gods could see what the hell was going on down here. And after hearing this album promptly closed that hole as those same deities sighed a collective...meh. What he did was bring some experimental creativity to his sound. I like blistering acid deluges as much as the next guy, but another Excession wouldn't see his music mature. You still have the big beats and more acid than a Dead show, but he incorporates different styles into his music. But don't think he's gone all commercial on you even if the sound is less aggressive in spots. If we're being honest though this is nowhere near as potent and blistering as his second album. Dubmention sets the tone with big beats as only he can do. Yeah it's got singing in it, but it's Chris Hoy so he's earned some artistic capital. The title track was just full on nonsense that could've been done by Aquatica or Ananda Shake. Ear Dis has a house swagger with a thunderous kick (and the requisite vocal annoyance that follows house music like a fart in a comforter). Komatose is as close as he's ever gotten to downtempo. So those four tracks were unexpected. You might like 'em and you might get carpel tunnel from leaning on that skip button. Dune II is the best on here with The Rift and Sin In Motion also being quite solid. Slide, Pagan Sunrise and Real Men Don't Dance round things out. This album had a testing the waters feel to it. Let me try some sh*t and see what the kiddies say. Good, but this one isn't at the top of his resume. Psyshop Mdk

  10. Artist: Various Title: Killers Inc. Global Sound Conspiracy Label: 3D Vision Date: January, 2005 1. Absolum - Take Off 2. Theoreme - RAM 3. CPU - Natural Born Killer 4. Azax Syndrom - Replica 5. Inner Action - Incorporated 6. Flexable - Synthetic Rhythm 7. Sirius Isness - Dirty Drugs 8. Mekkanikka - Kahoona Burger 9. Puzzle - Get Some Visions "How the hell are we gonna get outta here?!?" Damnit!! You're right. Lemme think...If only there was some large rectangular opening built into every room ever made that allowed hassle free entry and departure all with the turn of a simple knob. Stay with me dude. Well if you can't figure out the complexities of a door this is a pretty good album to be trapped with. Absolum, CPU (before he sold his soul), Azax (ditto), and Theoreme are just the first four tracks. They are blistering examples that hold up even today. Of course they're the best ones on the album, but hey this is almost ten years old. The B team takes the next five and do an admirable job of keeping the hi-tech energy flowing even if the aggressive factor has been ratcheted down. Well, except Kahoona Burgers...that sh*t is just corny. As Ormion said it's now more in the full-on territory. At least the first half is great! Psyshop Mdk
  11. Artist: Cosmic Dimension Title: In a Special Kind of Space Label: Suntrip Date: November, 2013 1. Special Kind Of Space 2. Nucleosynthesis 3. Time Beyond The Universe 4. Cosmic Call 5. Telekinetic Mind 6. Acid From Above 7. Analysing Your Brain 8. Parallel Universe 9. From Other Planet 10. Return From The Different Dimension Drifting GTA style! Now go kill some hookers! Children. These guys are f*cking children. What are they...22? I'm old enough to be their father which means they could be the grandchildren of Raja Ram. They're not the grandchildren of Raja Ram are they? Probably not although in his younger partying irresponsibly days who knows how reckless he was when it came to the ladies. One night on shrooms and he could literally be the father of modern day goa trance. No money for a DNA test? Forget it, takes forever anyway. Just see if any of these young bucks had a f*cking flute in their crib. It would make a strange kind of genetic sense. How can these young pups be this good at their chosen profession. At 22 you should be seeing how much stupid sh*t you can get away with and not wind up in the prison love shack or the hospital. Not crafting an album that garners raves from the community. And this album certainly deserves the accolades. Cosmic Dimension are Antonio Simonovski and Denis Bogdanovski and they truly take you on a cosmic journey. Futuristic melodies travel through galaxies with acidic textures and mystical layers. The flow and seamless structure really stand out to me. It's just wave after wave of evolution and new melodies. The fact that it's coming from such young artists is doubly impressive. If Suntrip really gets hundreds of demos a year and they decided to release a whole album from this new project well that right there should tell you something. They're only going to get better and better. Samey? Possibly formulaic? Maybe. But they're just kids and I think we can all agree that this was an impressive start. I find it to be a great combination of mysticism and space goa that fits with the Suntrip mold. And if Joske believes in these guys well that's good enough for me. That hippie seems to know what he's doing. But if he wants my advice he needs to sign my friend. *drops mic* Limited Edition only available at Suntrip Mdk
  12. Artist: Arronax Title: Crossing The Rubicon Label: Neogoa Date: July, 2014 01 - The Beginning Of Our Journey (144 BPM) 02 - Reaching Exosphere (142 BPM) 03 - The Holtzman Effect (142 BPM) 04 - Dreams Of Planet Earth (143 BPM) 05 - Crossing The Rubicon (143 BPM) 06 - Lightning Bolt (144 BPM) 07 - Crawlers' Pathway (142 BPM) 08 - Point Of No Return (120 BPM) I'm sorry with any other actor this would come across as fierce determination. A real let's get down to business situation. But with Macauly...I mean, it just looks like he's giving a very large man a handjob. And look at him...he looks disinterested like he's done this a million times. Where was I? Crossing the Rubicon. Passing the point of no return. There's no going back. These are all phrases you might hear yourself saying if you you find yourself at Taco Bell at two in the morning. Elmo knows. Sometimes you gotta rock that sh*t out. Did you pay attention to that gif? He's actually rocking one out at 142 bpm. Time it, that's some funny sh*t right there. I just watched that for 8 minutes. But let me be clear...Nothing good happens at Taco Bell at two in the morning. But I'm not at Taco Bell. And it's 3 in the afternoon. Where I am is on a blistering full power journey through uncharted space. Arronax is Mirza Aljić and he has crafted this four on the floor melodic goa trance that holds no pretense. It is what it is. Some goa softens you up and takes you gently into the good night. Not this. This will beat you into a state of trance. A hurricane of futuristic cybertechnology where the colonization of space is well underway. And I love it. Power, layers, furiousity...it's got it. Couple that with Ivan's artwork and it's a visual journey as well. It moves at ludicrous speed and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you like storming goa trance with some old school snarl then cross the rubicon. There ain't no goin' back. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk
  13. The hi-tech sound isn't for everyone. It's the acid insanity that always gets my blood pumping. An adrenaline shot that Redbull wishes it could match. I think all of us are worn out on full on. It's gotten to the point that you don't even have to listen to most of the track to already predict where it's going. Where's the fun in that? Thanks for your comment, I always enjoy hearing what people think after I've written something. Haven't posted any reviews in a month or so, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working. I have a whole bunch ready to go. Mdk
  14. Artist: Various Title: The Turning Label: Timecode Records Date: December, 2004 1. Azax Syndrom vs Toxic – Rain 2. Twisted System – Mad Method 3. The Misted Muppet – Prince Of Darkness 4. Artifakt – Nosferatu 5. Phyx – Hounds Of Hell 6. Tickets – The Pre-Determination 7. Rastaliens – The Secret Side 8. Triskell – Here Knows When 9. Slug – Encoded "Before recorded history man had a relationship with drugs." Yes but now we've damn near perfected it. In 2004 the Timecode label wasn't yet the iconic brand that it is today, but the seeds were planted. While not heavy with the acid that would become one of their trademarks the dark themes and atmosphere are all over this release. Tracks like Nosferatu by the Artifakt showcased delicious samples that were perfectly placed. This compilation was perhaps a roadmap that would illustrate how full-on with dark overtones could be made. Over the years even though it has lost some steam there are still some good tracks too be found here. Timecode Bandcamp Mdk
  15. Artist: Various Title: Three Ohm Three Label: Anjuna Records Date: April, 2014 1. Perfect Rainbow - Exotic Eye 2. Total Eclipse - Area 51 (live) 3. Syb Unity Nettwerk - Forbidden (Space Invaders Remix) 4. Ufomatka - Extragalactic Form of Life 5. Shakta & Moonweed - Q 6. Subcouds - On Red (1999 pHlatline mix) 7. Jaia - Brainstorm (live Mix) 8. Moonweed - Jaunt 9. Virtuart - Tetragrammaton 10. Tandu - Inception "It's not nice to be invaded by aliens." Oh here we go with that xenophobic Republican talking point. Why you gotta be afraid of the brown people? You think they're all so scary. All they want is a better life than what... Oh. Those kind of aliens? Yeah I guess you're right it wouldn't be nice to be invaded by aliens. Although I like to think the aliens look like Kate Upton so I'll just bide my time, but always be prepared to bow down and serve. If you think that was just a cheap trick to post a Kate Upton gif well look at the big brain on Brad! Anjuna ain't crazy though. They just keep churning out the rare and unreleased goa trance and I keep guzzling it down like a six pack of Poland Spring in the desert. Oh excuse me...Evian for you Euros. It's melody intensive, comprised of storming tracks. it shimmers, it's layered and bubbly and boy does it sound good. As the title suggests the 303 sound is prominently featured here so if that instrument gives you a psy boner then you might wanna loosen the belt on your pants when you listen to this. Lots of kings of the old school here including wo tracks from Moonweed. Anytime you can double your weed I suppose that's a good thing. As per usual you can find Ukrainian (or did he go to the other side) Ufomatka here and while he's not from the old school rest assured his track is an absolute belter. That guy has some sick skills. Hope an album is in the works. The artwork is pretty sweet also. You can get T-shirts with the cover art just like with the Lucid Flux compilation. I'd get one, but I already get prison raped on shipping so I'll leave that to you slender European models. This is an excellent compilation that gets my seal of approval. 16. Artist: Z3ro Title: Interception EP Label: Fractal Records Date: February, 2014 1. Space Empire 2. The Resistance feat. Locked Locker 3. The War of the World 4. Mind Master feat. Z3ro "Join me, rise up with me, rise up on the wings of this slain angel. We’ll rebuild on the soul of this little warrior. We will pick up his standard and raise it high! Carry it forward until this city, your city, our city, his city, is a palace again! Is a palace again!" Holy sh*t is there a better orator than Al Pacino. This man could fire me up to punch a RPG toting terrorist in the dick. I didn't see the movie, but listening to the clip of his speech I was ready to take on the world. And this would be the perfect soundtrack to do just that. I knew I liked this guy. This is Javier Cortes from Mexico and half of the bombastic Speedball project. Knowing that will give you a better understanding of what you'll find in here. Heavy, thumping beats and acidic mayhem. I'm talking hurricane force stuff. And let's not forget that it's also loaded with ass wiggling material. These are quality tunes made for opening up that V8 on the interstate. I tell ya Fractal Records has been kicking some ass lately. When the hell did they become 3D Vision? *Javier not responsible for any speeding tickets or the revocation of anyone's license. 17. Artist: Sidhartha Title: Into Immortality Chapter Three EP Label: Hypergate Records Date: February, 2014 1. Birth of a New Civilization 2. In the Here and Now I was thinking of putting this in my Beatport basket and then my Dikembe Mtumbo app on my Samsung phone sprang into action. Ahhhh...technology. Nuno Santos has been doing the twilight hi-tech thing for a long time, but with the third chapter of the Into Immortality series he seems to be playing it safe. And by playing it safe I mean he stopped giving a f*ck. The sound is less uncontrolled mayhem and more laser infused full-on to disinterest the masses. It just doesn't hold up compared to other twilight EP's that are out there. You hear what is being made in this subgenre today and weak efforts like this just can't keep up. There is no going back. The promo says this is the final chapter of the series to which I reply. No sh*t. Beatport Mdk
  18. It's not often that I come back to a review but listening to this compilation again I felt like chiming in. Another go round with this has convinced me that while more experimental Kartuxo is also the weakest effort from Timecode in a long time. I'm with WJ in wondering how the D_Maniac track gets on here. It drags the Timecode legacy into the mud with it's insipid commercial sound. Send that sh*t to Terror Lab Industries. No wait, f*ck that. They're violent. Send it to Nutek. I've yet to hear a good track from this artist and am starting to wonder if he has incriminating pictures of some powerful people. The first two tracks were dark and reminiscent of what you would expect. However the rest is lacking the power and the mayhem. This label has an outstanding resume, but this isn't their brightest moment. Mdk

Wow, you really went there. Ok, ok... It's easy to pick on this label with its severely over the top imagery. But besides catering to the mentally disturbed and half naked vampire chicks they have actually thrown out some pretty good music. I liken it to working with Woody Allen. Sure he's embarrassing and probably a pedophile, but a butt load of people still line up to be in his sh*tty movies. And in no way am I insinuating that this Mexican label is associated with pedophilia. Last thing I need is a little Mexican justice showing up unannounced on the doorstep in the form of...let's say a package the approximate size of a hat box. So as you can tell from the disturbed individual on the cover in which the word terror appears 3 times this music firmly plants itself in the darkness. In fact the first CD is called Out of the Night. And oh boy does it come out swinging. Full power berserker mode with acid flung in all directions. Even Orca put out a bit of grooviness which means I gotta go get the shovel from the shed and dig up the daisy blanked I had dumped on him. It only took 5 tracks before Ironstein & Co. had to assault my ears with those ostentatious buildups, which for this label is a win. And the cheesy samples didn't begin until The Forsaken. No big deal. That's why God invented the skip button. The entire first disc is intense and will tire you out. By the end your mosh pit brutality will be little more than pinballing off other dancers. P*ssy. I know I should be embarrassed by listening to Dopeman. And I am. But I can also tell you that I've been singing that hook all morning. My groupies are ages 2 and 5 and they just kicked my ass in Candyland while sipping on apple juice. The second disc into the light starts with We Have Explosive...shouldn't that be explosives? Unless you just have one. Maybe they didn't let you finish...perhaps it's explosive diarrhea. In which case you go stand over there. Keep going. It's a slower track (as if they knew you needed concussion recovery time) but it still fits right in. Even though the second disc is on the lighter side it's not sleepy time. The problem is if this label isn't bringing the heat the rest comes off as rather impotent sounding stuff. Hardly worth being thrown in the cell with the anarchist on the cover. It seems like they did it this way to broaden their market share and catch those who don't like it as heavy whilst still appealing to the base. Psyshop Beatspace Mdk

And I did. Don't I look f*cking enlightened? What a beautiful compilation. Jaia owns with L'ivresse des Profondeurs, a track that is super smooth and oozes character. Amber Rain makes good use of the slice function as Lalaam moves into more upbeat trancey territory. Get used to it cause that's where you're gonna stay for awhile. It's easy to get swept up in the break of They Will Come and Another has a militaristic terminator ascendancy of the machines feel. I absolutely loved the middle of Outlined Surfaces. So lush. After the so so dub track by Chi-A.D., Fire Maiden creeps in with something sinister. Skyclad is a mix of old world and space exploration. In the Sky has an American Indian mysticism to it and is very short. But it flows perfectly into the slow ambient of Beyond Beta. New Indigenous Religion treads lightly with gentle but eerie piano melodies over downtempo beats. Short again, but falls right into the futuristic outro. Wonderful beginning to a series that defined the downtempo compilation. Beatspace (Original I think) Psyshop Ultimae (2008 Edition) Mdk

In The Future "Yeah, no if you want to go there...but do you really wanna get a slice of pizza where the mascot is a giant sweaty rat?" My wife took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese today. For those that are unfamiliar with this establishment, think of a video arcade with six foot tall animatronic robots, screaming kids with runny noses, and enough flashing lights to give a small town epilepsy. Kids running around clutching tokens and eagerly looking for the next machine to satiate their immediate need. Hold up...I think I just plagiarized Whitney Houston's wedding vows. My bad. Anyway it's like Vegas for people that still sh*t their pants. Yeah, I'm sorry I'm gonna miss that. Bottom line...there's only one thing to do in that situation. F*ck. Yeah. This gives me time to get acquainted with an album that I have always loved. A hi-tech jaunt down memory lane that is second in intensity only to Absolum's Inside the Sphere. It's full power with buckets of acid just raining down in a meteor shower of insanity. I can't comment on what happened to him these days, but back when he had his head screwed on straight he was making crazy tunes with raw power and none of the excrement found in his latest work. Positronic? Black Mamba? Scorching. He drags a bass line through the mud like a two-handed battle axe poised to strike. Heavy in hi-tech just the way I like it. Now let's be honest here. Listening to this all the way through is a headache waiting to happen. It's loud and noisy with some really great tracks and a few not so great ones. For example Last Night...it's a foreshadowing of the unfortunate direction his music would take. The good clearly outweighs the bad. So get this album and head on over to Chuck E. Cheese and punch some whiny brats right in the face. It'll do you some good. And bring back some sh*tty pizza! Mdk

Haha...they told us to f*ck ourselves! Want proof? Check out their post on the first page of this thread. "Nahh load of minimalist bollox really-appreciate their production but if you think this is better than the glory days of 97-99 you obviously wern't around and Im talking about Solipse and Vortex. Coming soon, and Brainforest were it, call this progression ??????????????" If that's really them then it's ingeniously funny. They did this on purpose. Had to. They knew it would be sawdust in the eyes of everyone's expectations. And if you were longing for the melodic and hypnotic goa sound of their past allow me to introduce you to a razor blade enema. This is very dark and industrial with a hard, metallic sound. More in common with tech trance than psytrance. Someone described it as very linear and that is spot on. Super repetitive sequencer left on type stuff. The thumping power is ever present with a crunchy presence and eerie synths that cannot be reasoned with. Robotic in nature it generates the fear of the machines taking over. Think of the harsh reality of the Matrix rather than the soft yet still sinister intentions of Blade Runner. Old school goa fans may be disappointed because this doesn't even sound like the same guys. It has a certain film noir appeal though because amidst the monotonous pounding are subtle cues that help bring out their story. Personally I liked the second half of the album more than the first. If you're in the right mood this could work, but leave your expectations at the door. Mdk
  24. Artist: Various Title: Egorythmia - Remixes 2011 Label: Iono Music Date: October, 2011 1. Beyond Gravity (Aquafeel Remix) 2. We Can Fly (Hi-Profile Remix) 3. Night Sight (Flegma & Nerso Remix) 4. Eternal (Prisma Remix) 5. Eternal (Gaudium Remix) 6. Eternal (Optiloop Remix) 7. Eternal (Pop Tart Remix) This release is a perfect example of things going wrong quickly. Imagine you're a plane manufacturer and need raw materials to build your plane. Instead of using the trusted partner you've been in business with for years you decide to save a few bucks and go with the kids in the Thailand sweat shop to make the rivets and bolts and sh*t. They finish on time, under budget, and your plane looks shiny and new. Things are looking great and you appear to be the toast of the board of directors of your grandfather's company. But then your plane begins to have engine trouble. Seems to always be in need of repair. But hey man, you've got deadlines and stock holders can't make any dough with the bird in the shop. So against the advice of your head mechanic you schedule it for a flight. And what do you know George Clooney and his entourage has booked your plane. That's...unusual. But whatever. And just as you're settling in for a good nights sleep after a Tony Montana coke binge you get word that your lovely Thai manufactured plane has crashed. No survivors. That's right everyone dead including the most famous bachelor penis on the planet. There's an inquiry of course into what went wrong (as well as the obligatory in remembrance tribute to mister Clooney running night and day on the cable networks) and the relatives of your victims are lined up outside company headquarters screaming for your head and waving litigation angrily in their hands. But you have lawyers and spokespeople to insulate you from that crap. But a few months later the report comes back. Funny thing...apparently the 9 and 10 year olds that put the eyelets on Michael Jordan's shoes aren't really qualified to manufacture parts of an airplane. When it comes out how much money you saved the company (it ain't that much) and the ridiculously huge bonus you got well, now people are really angry. Media coverage is not stop and you are the lead story for all the talking heads on TV. You're painted as more of a villain than Donald Sterling and all he did was say racist nonsense in the hopes to bang a ho. You deprived young girls of Clooney cock. Eventually the harassment becomes too much and after the company's stock tanks accountants have to shell out multiple millions in lawsuits you receive a letter informing you that your services are no longer required. Things are looking bleak. The final straw is a video that is leaked by a bitter employee from the mail room that shows you blasting underage Thai girls and boys with your man seed. Yep, that's when Frosted Flakes just won't cut it so you step up your game and now it's bullets for breakfast. And that's what I thought about this release. I know, I'm either a genius or incredibly insane. The compilation begins beautifully with a stunning Aquafell remix in the Iono vein of melodic progressive trance. Then it begins to falter a bit with a couple of tracks that are not as lush and lacking depth. And then for some inexplicable reason it ends with 4 remixes of the same track. Did you just have an "aw f*ck it" moment? Even the promo guy just said f*ck it. And I quote... "With his extremely popular project Egorythmia, Boban Laszovski from the Republic Macedonia..." And that's it? It's not a f*cking novel with a cliffhanger, finish your sentence. They're great remixes on their own even if they sound very similar and I liked this release a lot, but I'm sure Mr. Egorythmia has more than a few tracks that could've been chosen. It's just not sinking in with you people. A remix album is supposed to sound different from the original work and definitely different from the other remixes. I'd rather listen to a weaker album with unique characteristics than a carbon copy with different track names. Stop churning out the same color by numbers bullsh*t, it bores me. Make me sit up and say, "Holy sh*t I didn't see that coming! Wow, that was awesome!" Instead it's the same bowl of cereal with 2% milk. And a gun. Psyshop Mdk
