Like, not to be a broken record, but Ticon and Ace Ventura should never be spoken of in the same sentence. They're entirely different music. One has created hours of depth ranging in sounds and textures leading the listener on a journey through multiple states of trance; created by a mixture of analog, organic, and digital sounds. The other is Ace Ventura. One of the most overhyped, overpriced, overrated artists. Fuck, even Infected Mushroom are more interesting than he is.

Shitty tracks from artists you love

We talking fully shitty or just somewhat disappointing? -
=) Ticon have gone through a couple of different "styles" over the year If you're new to Ticon, I'd encourage you to check out ZeroSixAfter and Aero first. Their debut, Rewind, while good, is a bit too minimal tuba-trance style 2am is great, but starts getting more electro-house fringe (kind of like X-Dream "We Interface" album strayed) Their last album, I Love You, Who Are You is okay, but it's a little too bland and generic progressive house sounding. It has a couple of really choice cuts on it, and the album has grown on me over time, but it's nothing I would encourage anyone to get introduced to Ticon with But Aero and ZeroSixAfter, holy shit. Those are just top-to-bottom brilliant albums. Mirage sounds like it is more inline with those albums than their other more recent ones. I'm super duper fantastically excited!!

It's some Explosive Diorama! (note: I actually think the Secret Society cover is funny and approve of its silliness. It just fit within the context of the sequence of posts)

What new music did you get today?
the goa constrictor replied to DeathPosture's topic in General Psytrance
I dunno. The mastering on Antic's new comp is a bit tinny and has distorted bass. You should toss that out and hire a real engineer lololol -

I made my first Discogs purchase a couple of weeks ago. One of my favorite trance labels of the mid 90s was all 12" only, which for someone playing all digital now, is a pain in the ass. Turns out they licensed one comp. It's a double CD https://www.discogs.com/Various-Club-Adventure-Vol-1/release/1067422 So stoked. The label was very weird. I super dug most of their tracks but then the other chunk was the lamest weird house music. The label made no sense, and that's kind of why I love them. So the comp isn't exactly 160 minutes of pure awesomeness, but I love having some of this stuff on a proper digital master and some of the tracks I haven't heard yet are actually good too. Love it! =) -

Well in 1775, we were still a hodgepodge mix of dislocated British. We weren't defending our country, we were beginning to commit genocide against the indigenous people of North America. After that though, I suppose we'll have to define the terms "defending their country." I would posit that "defending their country" would include some sort of protecting or defending of one's landmass and the people who live within. If that's the case, a person could argue that the Civil War would fit. World War I was entered into because Germany was trying to use Mexico as an entrance to fight/take over the USA. Then World War II had an attack on the USA base of Pearl Harbor. Then we have 9/11. Now, 9/11 is an interesting one because the country invaded and attacked a country that was not involved with the attacks. Even if 9/11 was an inside job, it's not like the thousands of soldiers who went off to war were part of the inside job. They were just doing what they thought was correct to protect their country. If that turns out to be a false premise, it does nothing to weaken the argument that they did it to defend their country. In no way do I suggest that the USA has been vindicated in the majority of it's violence and warmongering, but there are a lot of innocent people on both sides of the fighting lines and many of those people did so because they thought they were defending the country. Sweeping generalizations are rarely useful...

I really enjoyed the chunk of time when Purple Sunray wasn't posting on here.... This is just deeply incorrect. In no way am I defending our militaristic actions. In no way am I defending the militarization of our community police. In no way am I saying our economic policies and worldview are correct. But, the USA has defended itself more recently than 1775.

I was a firm goa@party.net mailing list user until it died. After that is when I slowly started experimenting with the various forums. Anyone here from the old listserv days?

Yeah, I'll agree with this one. I think that's one of the reasons Timo keeps his tracks short. He gets bored and doesn't care about fluffing the tracks with dj-friendly minute long intros and outros.

The problem with long tracks is that, as a DJ, there is too much time between doing things so I often end up drinking too much and getting far too wasted by the end of my set. The short to-the-point four-minute tracks of Texas Faggott really keep you on your toes and make you stay focused. A nice mixture of the different lengths is great for constructing a journey but too many long tracks can feel a bit meandering
