  1. I believe my mate had Transient ones. Not sure if anyone else I knew had any others though
  2. Well in 1775, we were still a hodgepodge mix of dislocated British. We weren't defending our country, we were beginning to commit genocide against the indigenous people of North America. After that though, I suppose we'll have to define the terms "defending their country." I would posit that "defending their country" would include some sort of protecting or defending of one's landmass and the people who live within. If that's the case, a person could argue that the Civil War would fit. World War I was entered into because Germany was trying to use Mexico as an entrance to fight/take over the USA. Then World War II had an attack on the USA base of Pearl Harbor. Then we have 9/11. Now, 9/11 is an interesting one because the country invaded and attacked a country that was not involved with the attacks. Even if 9/11 was an inside job, it's not like the thousands of soldiers who went off to war were part of the inside job. They were just doing what they thought was correct to protect their country. If that turns out to be a false premise, it does nothing to weaken the argument that they did it to defend their country. In no way do I suggest that the USA has been vindicated in the majority of it's violence and warmongering, but there are a lot of innocent people on both sides of the fighting lines and many of those people did so because they thought they were defending the country. Sweeping generalizations are rarely useful...
  3. I really enjoyed the chunk of time when Purple Sunray wasn't posting on here.... This is just deeply incorrect. In no way am I defending our militaristic actions. In no way am I defending the militarization of our community police. In no way am I saying our economic policies and worldview are correct. But, the USA has defended itself more recently than 1775.
  4. If you pay more than asking price on Bandcamp, Bandcamp will still take their 10% of the higher amount. If you want the artist (or label) to get a specific amount of extra money, definitely do that directly outside of the Bandcamp website.
  5. I was a firm goa@party.net mailing list user until it died. After that is when I slowly started experimenting with the various forums. Anyone here from the old listserv days?
  6. Yeah, I'll agree with this one. I think that's one of the reasons Timo keeps his tracks short. He gets bored and doesn't care about fluffing the tracks with dj-friendly minute long intros and outros.
  7. The problem with long tracks is that, as a DJ, there is too much time between doing things so I often end up drinking too much and getting far too wasted by the end of my set. The short to-the-point four-minute tracks of Texas Faggott really keep you on your toes and make you stay focused. A nice mixture of the different lengths is great for constructing a journey but too many long tracks can feel a bit meandering
  8. Well sure. But Erez is classically trained (if memory serves) and that was kind of the point of Classical Mushroom. He really does have the chops and plays those melodies. They just sound better removed from garbage that clutters up the rest of their music.
  9. Yeah, Erez is a great pianist. I might not like what they do with his skills, but he has mad skills
  10. I'm not saying that one should not reach for their dreams I'm stating that this realm has a bit of pre-colored pallet and to keep that in consideration as one lays out their longterm plans. Artists want their music heard People also like being able to pay rent Be chill and deliver and few products and items will move a bit more easily as the catalog grows. But, if you run into hesitation, don't take it personally. There are a couple of decades of history rolling below the surface and skepticism is built in now. Which is good
  11. watching Rick and Morty
  12. Mind Rewind is definitely due to the charities and contracts signed with the artists. They can't just keep selling indefinitely That said, bear in mind, with all of this, that Drezz tried crowdfunding a 12" and got a paltry buy-in from people and it went unfunded. The demand just really isn't there. It's an expensive process to master for vinyl, press vinyl, and then ship vinyl. Also, remember that this scene is littered with wasted burnouts and people with shit fiscal skills. Many artists have been burned by various promoters and many now hold a bit of skepticism towards various realms of things involving money. You might find a little hesitation from artists until you have a couple of successful pressings and campaigns. Best of luck!
  13. I know what my dream is!
  14. Netflix has two new shows that are quite good: Stranger Things The Get Down
  15. Summer's almost over! Where are the Doof shirts at?!??! ;-)
  16. This album is great start to finish. Much like Mama Matrix Most Mysterious, this is an album journey with different themes and stories within. Short, slow, long, fast, breaks, deep, glitched, trance that's extremely psychedelic Good one Drezz =)
  17. Disk arrived in the mail! =) This album is much kickass
  18. fuck yes. Empirion is some fantastic stuff
  19. this is the strangest bot / thread. thirty months of a bot talking to itself periodically. so odd, yet I'm thankful that the mods are leaving this here
  20. *raises hand* --> although I was blessed with much good music throughout the 2000s up until a few years ago when the Suomi and much of the Aussie scene slowed to a crawl. Still a few releases here and there, but for the most part, it appears spent. Can't blame them, it sounds like many of the labels had low sales. Psy-Harmonics, Freakdance, Exogenic, Devic Craft, Demon Tea, Edgecore, Faerie Dragon, 6D Soundz, Space Boogie, Surreal Audio, Karelia So many quality releases throughout the 2000s, I was a very happy camper. As those labels started to die off, in addition to the losses of the the Goa greats and more minimal second wave, I quite often feel that there isn't much to listen to these days. There are certainly some great releases that slip through, but overall, the music that made my soul bounce has slipped away... (editor's note: I'm not really grumpy. I'm very thankful that I was able to experience what I did and when I did. That was all pure magic and it changed my life)
  21. Bandcamp page for those who prefer that method: https://phantasmrecords.bandcamp.com/album/brainradio
  22. Woohoo! Just bought on Bandcamp Looking forward to the disc arriving, but will fulfill myself with the FLACs while I wait =)
  23. I think I remember that guy from the old goa@party.net mailing list. He was nice. Good music
  24. Technically, none of the bad tracks in this thread are "goa" as there is no such thing as "bad goa"
