  1. In early 2000 while surfing for Internet porn, I came across a series of videos featuring the same two people in their room with Hallucinogen playing in the background. I forget the track but I remember it was off of Twisted. I posted it to the 604 list back then. If anyone was on that and has the shit archived, you might be able to find the link... because, you know, all links stay active forever.
  2. Personally, I hate physical CDs and end up ripping them to FLAC immediately anyway. One thing that I learned over the past two months was that when I bought the Nervasystem CD and it didn't arrive for nearly two months, I sat around pissed and annoyed because I dropped cash on something and had nothing to show for it. Flash forward to the Deviant Electronics album. I also bought the physical CD to support the artist but it came with an immediate download of the FLAC for instant gratification. I still haven't received my disk in the mail yet but haven't needed to bitch and moan about it because I have the music and that's what I care about. I honestly don't have the time or patience to fuck with the postal service these days and I'm far more slow and hesitant to drop cash on failed media options. I love vinyl and will still buy that from a collectors standing, but since I am gonna rip everything digitally anyway, you may as well do it for me and sell me the best option. Also, if you sell digitally, you can sell the nice 24-bit audiophile stuff and give us audio snobs something worthy of our cash. A 16-bit CD rip is kind of ghetto in this day and age...
  3. I understand your frustration and have experienced it in the past myself. but sometimes those subtle differences really materialize in the context of a set and sometimes you kind of want both of them. this is one of those silly "a song is never finished" things that can become problematic if an artist doesn't make executive choices. There is that Planet Syncro 12" Vampire State Building. Red and Purple are the versions. Both songs are structurally very similar, but then they made two different tracks out of it. And depending on mood and timing, one version is definitely the better choice than the other. It's not necessarily a cheap way to fill a CD per se, they might simply recognize that there are differences in the tracks and that it was hard to choose, so if you don't have to pick one and can put both out, may as well give us both tracks =)
  4. lololol Years ago I decided that I was no longer playing Psychedelic Trance and was instead playing Dissociative Trance. Even made a few mixes... lololol =)
  5. look at the breakdown at 445. the wave forms are different. i can't remember the tracks off the top of my head, but it is clear that they are different. sure, they might be closer to the same, but they are two different tracks. there are many 12"s with an A and B side that are virtually identical. it's cool. sometimes you want to play one version and other times you want the other.
  6. I totally just emailed you about this. Didn't see this posted in here first. Might want to make a clarification on the campaign page. There might be a bunch of people hesitant to contribute because of this. The funds might get raised much quicker if people weren't afraid of simply losing their money without getting anything in return =)
  7. Thank you! I made "Class of 97" in late 2004 or early 2005, so it is nearly a decade old at this point. Shamanic Influences has some good stuff on it but it's not one of my more favorite mixes. If you like the retro stuff and don't mind a bit of other sounds, I made a mix in honor of our old friend Muschi (R.I.P.) that you might enjoy. http://goaconstrictor.com/music/rip-muschi/ Everything on it are tracks that he introduced to me, played out at some event, or reminds me of him for some reason or another. I also have a recording of the first **GOA PARTY** up as well. Your set didn't make it on, the recording could only do 8 hours, but if you wanted to relive that night of awesome, the music and such can be found here: http://goaconstrictor.com/thoughts/goa-party/ =)
  8. Yeah, I'm still bummed that Son Kite's follow up to Colours never saw the light of day. I have a feeling that since Minilogue was doing well and then BNE went bust, they just didn't have the energy/care to try getting it released. And maybe BNE held onto the rights to it or something and it was out of their hands anyway. Such a bummer.
  9. Hey man, PinaColada and CaraCum would be bummed if you tried to take their URL away from them. As for the new releases and re-releases, take your time and get it done right! Don't rush it to placate the impatient...
  10. thank you. i appreciate the feedback =)
  11. Yeah, I actually don't mind artists who are able to make a living out of it. Like my comment about Dick Trevor. He is a real nice guy and he has written some truly great stuff. While I may not be super into everything that he does now, I am so very happy that he can make a living off of it. Same with Deedrah and Seb/Shakta (although I really love pretty much everything that Seb does). I like that Deedrah seems to balance things by writing music of various styles. He has his big crowd sellout stuff and then other stuff that he just has fun writing. I also appreciate that he (and Dick Trevor) upload random stuff on Soundcloud for free download. You can tell that they appreciate their fans and acknowledge the good fortune that they are able to make a living like this. Also, playing small gigs all over the world for a long time has to be draining. I'd get burnt out from sleeping on floors too. So yeah, this is a weird topic. While I am bummed that I am not into some of the music some people are writing, I'm really happy that they are still able to do it and support themselves doing something so hard to pull off.
  12. I totally remember special ordering Blue Planet on vinyl and CD the week it got released. I was waiting for that album for a long time. Was so stoked on it, however I am still annoyed that they left off some great tracks on the vinyl print. :/
  13. Rip Van Hippy "The Whole Worlds Hip And Thats Not Cool" Outolintu "Odd Man Out"
  14. I stopped listening to Electric Universe after Waves, until last winter. I was curious to hear what he was doing and I really really love it. While it is definitely kind of generic full-on, he seems to get that and plays with that form a lot. I feel that it is kind of meta and infused with really strange jokes and some interesting creativity. As for an artist that I used to think was ballin' and now isn't, this is hard. I definitely would put Etnica on that list but with half of the members not even in the group anymore, it's not really the same group and I don't really consider them the same group anymore. Tim Healey has really been boring me lately. I dug on Coburn a lot but his last few years of electro house is quite trite. While I really like Dick Treavor's personality and he is a great personable and nice bloke, I'm not really into his more recent releases. GNOTR, Green Oms, and Bumbling Loons were all great. His more recent stuff just doesn't do it for me in the same way. The tracks aren't necessarily bad, I just don't find them to be as engaging. Simon/Hallucinogen. That last Younger Brother was terrible and I've just never really been grabbed by most Shpongle. Liked a few tracks at first but don't really care any more. I heard that he is working on a new solo album though of multiple styles and might release it as a Hallucinogen album. I'm interested to see if it grabs me like he used to.
  15. I make tons of mixes and used to do multiple radio shows a week. I love sharing music and introducing people to music that they may have never heard before. All of my mixes include embedded art work and, up until a couple of years ago, I would split the mix around the 75min mark if the mix was longer than 80 minutes for ease of burning onto CDs yourself. One of the main reasons I switched from CDs to laptop DJing is because of environmental waste of all of the media I was throwing away. I always burned copies of my real CDs to take to gigs because I was afraid of disks getting lost, scratched, destroyed, whatever. Then those burns get scratched or ruined in the sun and I have to burn them again. Was just a lot of waste. As mentioned above, it is real easy to post stuff online and let others burn it onto disk if they wish. That population is likely the minority though and most people probably load them up onto their mp3 players and such. I keep my DJ mixes as a single track too because I feel that the mix is like a mixed tape and I don't want to make it easier for people to pirate tracks by simply taking them from the mix. I know that it is still relatively easy to load it into an editor and take out the track regardless, but I'd rather make that person do the leg work for that. I love great mixes though and have a folder full of them. That said, I do get annoyed when labels release mixed compilations if the tracks aren't found in full form elsewhere. I didn't mind back in the days of vinyl because I DJ'd with the 12"s and the comps on vinyl would be unmixed, but then you got to listen to a killer DJ mix if you buy the CD too. Was nice incentive to buy both formats. Now, those singles and releases don't exist in the same way and if the only proper release of a track is on a mixed comp, it kind of frustrates me. If printing a disk, I like the idea of selling the comp in unmixed form and then uploading a mixed version online as a bonus gift.
  16. Satori - Back to Earth 12"
  17. I should have bookmarked more of the stories last summer when I was reading about it but do some searching about Shadow Profiles http://beta.slashdot.org/story/159302 Basically, Facebook's automated image scanners know that there are 5 people in a photo. 4 of those people have Facebook accounts, 1 does not. They can then cross reference that face/image through other profiles and through phone databases and figure out that this person exists, who they hang out with, and for advertising purposes, what their likes and dislikes probably are. There are a bunch of interesting articles about the practice and I wouldn't be surprised if it is even more deep than what we know. Crazy shit. The best bet is to be lost in the data stream.
  18. Facebook knows more than you probably realize. They even create shadow profiles for people who don't have Facebook accounts. Even if you don't use Facebook, Facebook knows that you exist and knows what shows you go to and who you hang out with.
  19. Facebook doesn't really owe him anything. They hold all of the cards. That said, I agree with what Draeke suggested. Also, I keep misreading this thread as "Neogoa banged by Facebook" and it makes me laugh.
  20. I can't answer because I don't listen to bad music.
  21. Planet Ben was a true outside-of-the-box thinker. So much greatness from that man. The Planet Ben vs Synchro "Vampire State Building" 12" from Naja Records is a force to be reckoned with. And "Orang-U-Tangent" from the White Rhino compilation slays. So much awesome
  22. King Goa Constrictor Déjà Vu (2hr33min/VariableMP3/231MB/©2014) Genre: Psychedelic Goa Trance <<<Download Audio>>> This winter I had a terrible cough and was drinking copious amounts of cough syrup for many weeks. During that time, two albums seemed to be in heavy rotation, the Flying Rhino compilation White Rhino and the Blue Planet Corporation release on DAT Records, Blueprint for Survival. These chuggy and grumbly sonic noises were both in my ears and escaping from my ass, so to speak, and were the inspiration for this moody, classic, warm-blanket, gurgly, acidic, and melodic dreamtime trip trough the cosmos. Artists include: Juno Reactor, Slinky Wizard, Blue Planet Corporation, Nervasystem, Process and Tristan, Man With No Name, Nasha, POB, Prana, X-Dream, Total Eclipse, Slinky Nuns, Process, Slide, Etnica, California Sunshine, Dandandado, Friends, Lovers & Family, Green Nuns of the Revolution, Hallucinogen Complete track list and more info at: goaconstrictor.com/music/deja-vu
  23. I'm really bummed that they went away. I definitely stopped buying physical media for the most part, as did many others, so I understand why it happened, but they were definitely the best of the bunch for a very long time. I wish they had a way to move over to digital distribution, but I guess that wasn't realistic. If they ever read this message: You're Loved and Missed!! <3 xoxox
  24. This thread is gonna devolve into another 5,000 year war, only instead of Israel vs Palestine, it's Israel vs Simon Posford. Awesome.
