Only two weeks away!

I think this is where we begin to understand your disclaimer regarding yourself as The album is fantastic. Great Kino Oko variety and style. Great atmosphere and energy. Wonderfully unique and truly a Kino Oko album. People should be buying this up and supporting the artists who dance fantastically on the edges of the paradigms in which their scene is rooted.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING! Wait... Can you feel it... Sense it... It's Friday! And not just any Friday. The Friday of a 3-day weekend (for those of you lucky bastards with jobs)! And on Sunday, here in the USofA, we'll be celebrating our countries independence. You know, it was like the World Cup, only we kicked Britain's ASSES! Then after that ass kicking, well, we're dicks. Human history is riddled with horrific violence, evil, and wrongdoing. We're quite the shitty species, and honestly, I blame religion for it all. So this Sunday, while celebrating your freedom, burn a picture of the Pope or something. Take a shit on Jesus and then spend a moment in silence to mourn the lives of those killed and tortured under the name of some God. oh, and tune-in in to today's show! FABULOUS! Radio Today: 10am -> 1pm (PDT (GMT-7)) Tune-in Live @ http://goaconstrictor.com/radio RSS/Podcast Info: http://www.goaconstrictor.com/fabulousradio/feed.rss Playlists: http://goaconstrictor.com/playlists To be in touch during the show, drop a line: AIM - goafabulous GChat - fabulousradio Meebo - fabulousradio Email - fabulousradio@gmail.com UStream - Live chatting with other listeners It's weird not having a new Catsup! to attend this week. Their idea of shifting it back a few weeks is rather unfortunate to my schedule, but oh well. I' sure there are other things to do this weekend... The teapot demanded freedom... xoxox -A'damn

GOOD MORNING! Today is that magical day in our Psychedelic Trance communities (that recognize dates in the Month/Day format) where we praise to the spirit of the Goa. This is a special day for another reason too. I am actually doing my homework again, FOR THE VERY LAST TIME. My FINAL final paper. The last one. I turn it in on Monday and then I will have EARNED my Master's Degree. So, today's show will be both AWESOME and BORING as fuck-all. Watch me type words on my laptop. Watch me drink coffee. Watch me eat reheated pasta leftovers. Watch me scratch my head and pick my nose. Listen to the glorious sounds of BEAUTIFUL GOA TRANCE. I'll be digging through some old vinyl as well as playing some tracks off of a playlist while a I type like mad. Request your favorite Goa Trance classic. I think I can safely say that there will be NO POP MUSIC in today's show. This is a strictly Goa affair. FABULOUS! Radio Today: Noon -> 3pm (PDT (GMT-7)) Tune-in Live @ http://goaconstrictor.com/radio RSS/Podcast Info: http://www.goaconstrictor.com/fabulousradio/feed.rss Playlists: http://goaconstrictor.com/playlists To be in touch during the show, drop a line: AIM - goafabulous GChat - fabulousradio Meebo - fabulousradio Email - fabulousradio@gmail.com UStream - Live chatting with other listeners Stay tuned for some extremely exciting new updates to this summer's most Psychedelically charged event, PSYMPLY PSYCHEDELIC. Shit, I felt that way with Flying Eye Land. I thought that album totally blew...

GOOD MORNING! Woo0o0o0oo00oooo! So last weekend was a KILLER start to the summer party season and I was able to listen to music in the place I feel is most "home" to psychedelic music. It moved me greatly. Unfortunately, my good friends who threw the party got into a bit of trouble with the police (THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE AND CARE ABOUT YOUR DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY!!) and so today's show is going to be a bit of a Psychedelic-Trance-Meets-Anti-Authoritarianism type of show. Even if you didn't go to the party and want to support our little scene, feel free to PayPal _anything_ to squee.isme@hotmail.com and help them out with their court costs. This isn't my wallet, but our community is small and I respect it as my own. That said, the theme of the show sounds rip-roaring and I'm ready to fuck shit up. FABULOUS! Radio Today: 12:12pm -> 3:12pm (PDT (GMT-7)) Tune-in Live @ http://goaconstrictor.com/radio RSS/Podcast Info: http://www.goaconstrictor.com/fabulousradio/feed.rss Playlists: http://goaconstrictor.com/playlists To be in touch during the show, drop a line: AIM - goafabulous Meebo - fabulousradio GChat - fabulousradio Email - fabulousradio@gmail.com UStream - Live chatting with other listeners If you've been saving your money and energy for only one event this summer, PSYMPLY PSYCHEDELIC is the event you want to go to! RIP VAN HIPPY! ANDREW TILL PROCESS GEL-SOL FOXDYE SECRET SOCIETY + and sooooo much more! It is going to be fucking INSANE! http://apolloslute.com for more info. Let's get back to our roots and stand up for something more... The baby dinosaurs never got a chance to vote! xoxox -A'damn

Dude, Tesseract! Used to buy that stuff in the mid 90's. Great fast and powerful hard acid trance.
-
I've got strong ties to some early morning full-on of this variety. This album is definitely not of the caliber of what was written in the mid 1990's, but nothing really is. I take this album for what it is and the full tracks definitely move me. Trust me, I was prepared to hate this and slam on it as much as you all are. If I only listened to the samples a few times, I probably would have never picked it up. But hearing the full album play out a few times really took hold with me. The melodies are cheesy as fuck all. The guitars seem almost out of place. It has a weird feeling of why through out it. But it somehow transcends all of it and is a really powerful album to me. This is one of the reasons that I am overly positive in my review. I find the album to be really uplifting and strong in a way that should be expressed. I know it's an upward battle to try and convince anyone of this, which is why I am being very strong in my positive review. I really think it is worth listening to a few times and allow it a chance to work into your body. I have played the album for numerous people and they are all kind of taken aback by it. At first they seem kind of quiet, but by track 4 or 5, they really find root in it. It's definitely an album I don't see many people playing out, but I think it is damn solid and far better than anything they have done since Nasha. I thought Flying Eye Land was rubbish and everything else really. They had a few moments with Nasha and Summer of 89, but that was about it. This album kind of captures that innocence of long ago.
-
Yeah, I know it is just Miko, but I didn't really think that was too relevant.
-
As I said, this is definitely not Nasha or anything. But for what it is, an album of modern mixes and a few new tracks, it does offer the energy that California Sunshine is known for. Is it the pinnacle of their career? No. Is it a really solid album for our summer camping experiences? Definitely

Artist: California Sunshine Album: Rebirth Label: Phonokol Artist Discogs Page: discogs.com/artist/California+Sunshine Buy this Album from Saikosounds here! Review: Reviewing this album is hard. Times have changed, generations have moved forward, and it’s kind of tricky to reference and appreciate this album while also maintaining a perspective of someone who might be new to this music. So I’m going to get a few things out first, then we can move into the review more solidly. Long long ago, there was a project called California Sunshine. Having a name that is an obvious wink’n'nod to the blotter of the same name gives us our first level of understanding. If we take that concept and also interweave it with the literal idea of some California Sunshine you will begin to understand how to approach this album. Cheesy named blotter of the 90’s + Sun shining California coasts = a very specific Israeli Trance energy. And it is very epic. The album starts off with a nice updated version of their classic track Rain. Rain is a beautiful song on, what I believe to be their best album, Nasha. So the album starts by taking a piece of its past and fitting it through the holes of time and into this new world of EPIC. I mean, I know California Sunshine have always been quite epic in their cheese factor, but damn; this album goes above and beyond. They go above and beyond and do it well too. I was honestly caught off guard. I didn’t think that I would love this album as much as I do. At first, I wasn’t sure what to think of the guitars (and there are lots of guitars), but after the disk ended the first time, I reflected upon the music and wanted to hear it again. The second listening, without the shock of the guitars, was even better. I was able to appreciate why they were there and the story that they helped tell. And there aren’t guitars on every single track or anything either. I just know to mention these things because I will be flamed if I don’t. But jesus christ, this album is so uplifting and so good. This album feels GREAT. It makes you smile a lot. It pushes forth the energies of cosmic compatibility and hopeful longing. It allows you to appreciate the spring time flowers in bloom, the bits of rain that give those flowers life, then the sun shining down upon them and making them grow. The air of spring. Of life. Of rebirth. The album is a massive MDMA pill that you can ingest aurally and have no shitty hangover with. It just makes you feel good. *FLASH* memory of playing on the beach with your family when 9 years old *FLASH* memory of eating a big birthday cake with missing teeth because you just lost another baby tooth *FLASH* memory of that sunrise on the mountain, in the arms of the person you love, breathing the fresh air of life, watching your friends dance on the dance floor *FLASH* memory of that one smile, from that one person, that you’ll never ever forget This is California Sunshine. It is a massively big hug and a great piece of heart. Now, for the VERY IMPORTANT DJ ANALYSIS OF THIS RECORD… lol Ok, so… I know very few people who would ever actually play this album out. But most of my friends are too cool to appreciate the level of beauty and cheese within this disk, so that doesn’t bother me much. This album is very much for certain types of DJs and people with certain types of tastes. I will gladly play these tracks during any sunrise set. In fact, I promise that if you hear me playing in the morning at a party this summer, I will totally rock this album. The momentum is infectuous. The drive is rejuvenating. The guitars are very unique. It’s not buttrock goa. It’s not metal trance. I almost want to say that it is like a proper Monster Ballads accompaniment to top shelf Israeli morning trance. Done right. What’s really nice though, is that the album is something that over the past 3 weeks, I have just put on to listen to over and over. It’s not simply DJ material. I actually really love listening to this album and being transported into the feelings and emotions contained therein. Now I just wish Man With No Name would come out and release something totally killer and new again. That would be sweet. So it’s California Sunshine. If you are familiar with them and like them, you should pick this up. While Rebirth doesn’t quite reach the levels of Nasha, it is still a fantastic album and reaches a completely different set of level and ideas. I’m very happy that this is getting released just before the summer season starts, because some great anthemic California Sunshine is _exactly_ what this summer needs. Completely. 2010 has been an interesting year and I am very happy to have California Sunshine as part of the soundtrack of my summer. It will be a good summer indeed. Hopefully you’ll have a good one too. Maybe California Sunshine can help with your soundtrack as well. xoxox -A’damn

How to write a goa / ambient review
the goa constrictor replied to psytimeofmylife's topic in General Psytrance
There are no hard and fast rules. Different people like different things in a review. Make sure what you write is relevant and try to use proper grammar. Good luck and have fun with it! -
How do you listen to digital music?
the goa constrictor replied to ariScotle's topic in General Psytrance
There is a great plugin/script for Mac called Fluke which allows iTunes to play FLAC files. I have been using it for a long time and it is great. -
the use of limited edition releases
the goa constrictor replied to eudaimonia's topic in General Psytrance
Yeah, it's a balance of supply and demand. You want to find the best balance of profit. Let's look at the number 1,200. You print 1,000 albums and it sells out and there is some demand for more. You sold out at 1,000 and while you could make more money if you had access to magical new copies, printing another batch runs the risk of not-covering costs. There really isn't a true market demand for such reprints most of the time. -
Artist: Benza Album: if Label: Sub Artist MySpace Page: http://myspace.com/benzaproductions Buy this Album from Saiko Sounds: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display_release.asp?id=8219 Review: Here I am listening to the newest Benza album when out of nowhere I wondered to myself, ‘Did I ever finish writing that Benza review that I started last year?’… No. No, it appears that I did not. This is a crying shame and totally not okay. Since I have a free moment right now, please allow me the opportunity to correct this massive oversight. Benza has a new album! It is his fourth album, it has the title ‘if', it is released on Sub Records, and it is really good. I would classify it as a comfortable and pretty psychedelic progressive techno album. Kind of like the newer Electric Arc and Justin Space material mixed with some of that Fuzzion stuff. Slick like oiled vinyl and soft like cashmere, this is music designed to get a party’s rocks off with a purposeful method of slow resolution. I want to make a bad stand-up comedian joke and say, THIS ALBUM _LITERALLY_ FLOWS LIKE WATER DROPLETS OF MORNING DEW FALLING FROM THE LEAVES OF A SUNFLOWER AT DAWN However that would be wrong; I will not say that. I will however think about that imagery for a moment. Then I’ll stop and continue listening to the percussion that rolls from left speaker and back to the right again. I’ll pay attention to the cutup voices that jibber-jabber across the living room (or theoretical dance floor). I’ll feel that pulse of rhythm and story that get woven together for a journey that keeps you engaged throughout the entirety of the disk. It’s quite pleasant. Part of me wants to talk about each sound, melody, transition, and voice that I find to be awesome. This would be problematic though, because I would be writing about every moment of every song. You’d get bored and miss out on the opportunity to discover it all for yourself. I wouldn’t want to do that to you. I like you too much to ruin the fun! Now, I have been informed lately that I should be a touch more critical with my reviews and maybe mention info that I know might be good for people to know, even if it might turn those people off. So I would like to mention that there are two things that might influence your opinion of this album. First, some people I have talked with over the past few months have a real problem with track 6, Jacob ft. Bias B. This song has an added element of hiphop vocals for a portion of the song. I like it, but I also like hiphop. Some others really aren’t into them and people actually complain about this. However, it’s just one song and you should just accept the fact that it is good. Don’t fear the MC. Secondly, there are only 1 or 2 songs on here that start atmospherically with pads. Virtually all tracks start with the beat and work like a normal progressive techno or progressive house song. Which is fine most of the time, but makes it hard for heavy BPM changes and creativity in DJ sets. Having options in your material makes it more fun to play out and opens up more doors for creative mixing. Again, not a big deal, but it might be nice to mention for those DJs who like having that info. All in all, this album will work with many different types of atmospheres and is simply good music to play while decorating cookies. Good work Benza! Now come back to the Pacific Northwest and entertain us! xoxox -A’damn
