What will happen to your collection after you're done with it?
Procyon replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
The music you like will be there with you, don't worry. It's part of it's known as "you". -
X-D are active. A new album would be great, but please without that awful female voice and lyrics.

AP will play in the best urban festival in the world, Nagisa Music Festival, in Tokyo. Along with legends like Orbital and KURO. Only a fool will miss this festival when in Tokyo. http://www.nagisamusicfestival.jp/artist/index.html

Man With No Name is, thankfully, a constant guest in some European festivals. I am stalking him to get an interview for Psynews, but Martin is as slippery as a wet fish: can't find contacts, e-mail, site. Nothing .

In my case I try to use these rules from different religions to try to bring peace to my life and to others around me: -don't do to others what I don't want to be done to me. -expect every situation, even the very bad ones, to have a positive side to it. -have faith -forgive other's faults and expect mine to be forgiven too. -to apologize and admit I can do terrible mistakes. -smile, always. There are horrible situations that can be undone by a warm heart. Looks like self-help, and they are indeed. Helps me a lot.

Actually it was a new work, or so I read at the time. I read in another forum that Dave is working in the internet game field currently. I hope he returns someday to the goa scene. He is missed.

I used one when I was a teenager, along with dayglo t-shirts and pants, it was the latest fashion then . It felt good, I wish it could make a comeback. It would be glorious! Mine is just a photo of a boy I once saw in an article. His smile (that we can't see here, unfortunately), was so contagious that I decided to use it as my avatar in some forums. But I am about to change it, I like to change from times to times. Next will be my French bulldog when she was the sweetest puppy in the world.

I think I have a solid opinion on this, as I am indeed the owner of a lounge bar and sometimes I play goa on the sound system. Business-wise you gotta have constant influx of people - and their money - in order to be able break even your initial investiment and daily/monthly bills, and music is an important aspect that can help increase or decrease said influx. In my experience, you can't play only one genre of music, or you will attract a small crowd that likes that kind of music and will lose the rest of your customers. I play goa every now and then, but the reaction is that people don't like it. So, I play a mix of techno, trance, house (and all of their subgenres, including chill-out and ibiza) in a sequence of uptempo to downtempo, from 18h30 to 24h00. That's how it has worked for us. The nights that I stubbornly play only a genre, say, tribal house, I see more people coming to the counter and asking us to stop playing it. So, a cafe playing Goa is not a safe bet, IMO. You will go down in less than a year. I went to two Goa cafes in Japan, both closed down, and mind you, the Japanese market is very mature and I was surprised they went under.

You're right Vera, I sent some messages to him when his website was working, showing my support. But after he released his digital album, it was not that exciting in comparison to his older work, and he just vanished and the website went down. I too had the feeling he gave up goa trance. One of Ozora organizers told me that Dave wouldn't even return e-mails about a live performance. I understand Dave, though.

My dream, and some organizer's too, is Chi-ad. I know that Ozora tried to book him several times, to no avail. A pity .

As I have some experience with job interviewing in an English school, here's my opinion based on that. It is not directed to no one in particular in this topic, but to everybody who is looking for a job: 1) the more certificates you have the less positions available, of course. This is like a pyramid. The more you study, you have more baggage to go up the ladder. But, on the other hand, top positions are expected to be fulfilled by "princes" - illusionary candidate that are perfect both in professional skills and personality. And potential employers are very picky when chosing for high positions, no wonder that head-hunting is so common nowadays. My point is: unless you are willing to start in a position that is lower than your CV is pointing you to, you have to have some patience, until you get the job matching your certificates and experience. Of course this is not a golden rule, and you may find a position matching your baggage in the first round of interviews, but this is rare. 2) still on certificates and experience. This situation is ridiculous, but I have seen this happen a lot: the candidate for a position is more experienced and knows more that the interviewer or the person who will be his/her immediate superior, and he/she is denied the job because this person is afraid of losing status inside the company. (Last one I heard of, a friend of mine who lived in USA for years and speaks English perfectly, was denied a job as a senior teacher because his interviewer - the HR director - realised she was not as fluent as he was). 3) there are some people who have perfect grades, certificates and skills, but are not ready to work with other people, in a group. Unfortunately, this is something the person most times doesn't know about himself/herself. But the interviewer is trained to see subtle signs that may appear during a simple talk. If you are denied a job in successive interviews, think about that. It is not a problem, for there are intelligent people who are much more productive and proactive when working alone. My point is, perhaps you are applying for a kind of job that is not for you. 4) have you thought of that perhaps you are not a "job" person? And that instead of working in a "classic" job - as in an office, a bank, an industry - you would do better working by yourself? That you'd be happier and more productive (and rich) baking cakes than being a doctor, as your certificates tell you? 5) have you analysed your behavior during that last job interviews? Sometimes the person is the one that the company is looking for, he has the experience, the skills, the personality and his CV matches exactly what the position requires. But, during the interview, he/she lets depression, bad corporal/language, vices, interfere in the interviewer's perception. Most common situations are: depression ("I have been so unlucky lately, I hope I get this job"). Corporal/language ("I fucking love travelling on business"). Vices (most common is the smell of cigarrettes, strong body odour or - I have seen this too - perfumes). Last, be patient. Global economic situation is not that good, as some of us feel this in the flesh. Good luck!

Hard decisions, but I'd say: Goa: Astral Projection - Trust in Trance (and their In The Mix double album too) Psy: X-Dream - Radio. First was a jaw dropping thing when it was released. Second introduced me to tech-trance (old school I mean), which is my favorite genre. -
Take it easy, Radi, I was just making fun of you. No need to go nuclear! I indeed listened to one of your tracks some weeks ago.

English native speakers just have to land in Narita or Seoul to be employed with full benefits in language schools. They pay well and Japan can be really nice in the first couple of years, till you learn what they are talking about you

@radI: no deal, then!

@draeke: good you liked Natal. I say I am surprised because as a citizen of the country I understand our problems in details that foreigners don't (the same way you understand Spain's problems in a way that I surely can't), but this is something good will can overcome, as it's seems it's your case. Also, Brazil Northern people are really warm. I wish you success! Do you mean do you have too much or too few experience and skills? AFAIK, computer science is one of the best fields for jobs currently.

Of course, and me? I am self-employed, I own a bar/lounge/restaurant. I don't have a college degree because when I was about to enter college my parents divorced in a such gracious way that it makes the Katrina hurricane looks like a squirrel farting on a sunny day. After that I call every member of my family dys, as in dys-brother, dys-mom etc. Dys is for "dysfunctional family", a horrible thing I don't wish to my worst enemy, not even to Skazi or Alien Jesus. Well, because I can speak four languages I always worked with teaching them, which took me to some countries for work, particularly Japan because I am of Okinawan ascendency (though I was seen as a foreigner there, as you may have read in another post). Right now, besides taking care of our business, I support my BF who is studying architecture and I employ 10 people in our restaurant. Being self-employed has some pros and cons, as you may guess. Well, a couple of years ago I almost moved to USA to work in a hotel as a translator for Brazilians clients who go shopping in NY and discover that their "the book is on the table" English course was not enough. USA would be my first choice if I had to go abroad on work again. Japan, I got really tired of being an alien there, don't recommend it. After my BF graduates our plan is me going to college too. Never too late, huh?
-
Well, I felt surprised Draeke said he's thinking of coming to work in Brazil - not my definition of best place to work. And some other members made comments of being hard to find jobs in their region. My question is: are you employed? Unemployed? Are you working in your field? What are your expectations? Are you willing to work in another country? If yes, where? Why? You don't need to answer all of them, of course.

@Rotwang: deal! -
Huh? I don't even know what you're talking about. But isn't it sad to listen to a song and "seeing" it from a technical point of view and find it disappointing because the FX are built-in instead of created? And lose the magic of an arpeggio because of that?
