I would also love a party where at prime time it is this kind of music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95qfv1toETc I even have a set-idea in my head which revolves around this over the top deep-space euphoric neogoa...

Don't you think it's too cheesy in some parts? I like Rain No Water, Ascend, Lightspark and the downtempo-version of lifethread, but the rest is just too cheesy for me. Very intriguing to me that you of all people like this album so much you're the one against the cheese most of the time, while I enjoyed many stuff you classified as too cheesy for you. But maybe you don't hear any cheese in this album... Ah, taste. So intriguing

Will have to check the new oxycanta then... I have everything else you listed and I cannot but agree, all very tasty! Ovnimoon did indeed display some great goaprog Btw: I'm curious to hear what you think of stereofeld- frequenzwechsel Joske

Ok, so apart from the albums and comps you knew were going to be good (like for me the new Suntrip and Zion604 compilations), what album and compilation was your biggest surprise this year? For me it's the free foresty Chill-out compilation Through the Afterlife (download it here), and Stereofeld's Frequenzwechsel (downloadable here). These two still blow me away every time I listen to them. So two free releases. Which blew me away. The quality of free psytrance/chill-out/goa releases has been greatly improving these last couple of years imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxYJON3LD-c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAR-ym-K9Mc

It is decent shelves though. In my experience it's really hard to find a nice shelf with enough space.

Yet another very classy release for free... Great music, fantastic chill vibe and psychedelic to boot! Recommended for sure, every prog-fan and even the people who do not like prog should check this out. Pure earcandy.

You have the exact same shelves as I have Guess that's not really surprising seeing where they come from, but still Only have one of them full of goa and kin though, so I'm not yet going to post a picture

Didin't know that either! Not that obvious to me since I have no knowledge of such things at all... Thanks for sharing it Fabien, hope you're doing fine!

No, he must be gay, or a lesbian!

I love me some off-topic drama! Why people get worked up about things other people say on the internet is completely beyond me. Do not take anything seriously ever. Ow and procyon, please stay.

Yeah, I agree it's a very good post by earwall. I pretty much agree on everything. To answer your question shpongled: I don't think we can. The global scene is too big to be under control. I think the only thing we can do is reflect on an individual level and act accordingly and in that way contribute a little to the evolution of psytrance. There will always be good music, whether a scene is fucked up or not. Aside from that... You were at Lost Theory, right? It wasn't the biggest festival, but you can't say there weren't enough people. The vibe was good, the music was good for the most part, and it was international. As long as there's this kind of festivals in the world, and good music, everyhting is fine by me

I might recommend some of the sentimony records compilations, which are free for download over at ektoplazm. I think it's probably a bit less dubby than what you mentioned before, but I think it's quality ambient none-the-less... Very cinematic at the very least. http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/special-places http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/time-loop-beyond-borders http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/absence-of-gravity Should you feel a bit more daring and want to venture into trippier more twisted kinds of ambient soundscapes I cannot, and I mean CAN NOT but recomend this gem of a comilation: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/through-the-afterlife Enjoy!

Classic tracks that you think are nothing special

Noooooo, we could've gone on for weeks -
Music genres that outside people confuse with Goa/Psy
IronSun replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
Your humor always cracks me up Rotwang I've only encountered the typical 'That's Techno', but then again to the majority of all people all edm in 4/4 sounds like Techno. -
I agree, Crossing Mind's production quality is just stunning.

Goa Trance artists who do not take drugs.
IronSun replied to ollylovesgoa's topic in General Psytrance
You managed to convey in words what I was thinking all the while reading this thread I might want to add that I don't give a shit if an artist takes drugs or not. As long as the music is good. -

I disagree, everyone has the right to want to listen to tracks on their own time. It has nothing to do with being a goa fan or not. Telling someone to 'listen to something or you're not a fan of the genre' is called peer-pressure and is actually quite immature in my eyes. What I do consider a bit unfortunate, is that it was so predictable that this thread would turn into a 'Blasphemy!'-flame thread, escalating quickly instead of just respecting other people's taste. If I don't like a couple of tracks from an artist I am not inclined to go out of my way and search for tracks that I do like by the same artist, even if offered some by other people that enjoy much of that artist's stuff. OT: I tried but couldn't really come up with a classic track I don't think is anything special -
Suntrip release schedule the next 6 months :)
IronSun replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Seriously hyped up about these upcoming albums! Really looking forward to E-Mantra (it's going to be a masterpiece!) and Cosmic Dimension, although I must say these samples from Nebula Meltdown sound promising too, subtle acidic goa, very unique amongst today's goa trance! -
Greatly anticipated release for me, together with the Nervasystem album Curious about the Syb Unity Nettwerk track!
-
Yup, it's all old unreleased tracks! Great compilation But then again, everything and anything from Zion604 is great...
-
+1, great track! Also, don't forget their 'Mass Connection' on this years VA - The Kingdom from Zion604 Records:
