  1. The album is available at Beatport. Higher price, but 320 MP3 or WAV. http://www.beatport.com/#release/organique/403521
  2. I've purchased hundreds of tracks from Amazon (trance, rock, jazz, classical, etc). 90% of the tracks fall between 213 VBR and 265 VBR. The highest bit rate I've ever gotten was 294 VBR. Newer releases usually have better bit rates than older ones. Amazon is mostly my last choice if I can't find 320 elsewhere (eg, Bandcamp or Beatport).
  3. Interesting album and somewhat addictive. A lot of good new music has been released recently, but I keep returning to this album.
  4. Big thanks to Richpa and all the contributing artists!
  5. I think the EP would have been stronger if he dialed back the samples.
  6. Guess I wasn't clear. Is the 9:15 version the original or the remix?
  7. What's the length of the original and remix tracks? Discogs is no help. I see one version of Telepath around 9:15 and another around 7:35.
  8. Definitely reminds me of the first Talpa album.
  9. I know that you're talking about a different issue (ie, the exposure and popularity of this music), but the split between "go to parties" and "listen at home" also mirrors a divide in goa / psy music between dance floor rhythms and more complex / less linear rhythms. I think this music would be more interesting if it moved away from the dance floor (while still remaining psychedelic), but it would probably become even less popular. I guess there's no way to "square the circle" here.
  10. Yggdrasil - Prose Edda http://www.discogs.c...release/2040257
  11. Both albums are good, but I particularly enjoyed the remastered Inner Cyclone.
  12. http://altar.bandcamp.com/album/blue-moon-u-k-sampler
  13. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but I didn't think either track was that great. "Under The Surface" was less bad than "Psystep".
  14. I recommend that all reviews (short or long) stay in the review section, and not get scattered into other forums. One of the great things about this site is the ability to find reviews of older albums fairly easily. I also think short reviews are a good idea. I love the reviews by T2MU, but the rest of us might be able to cover more releases and make a few suggestions, even though we're not as clever, if there was a little more flexibility on the review format.
  15. "After 3.5 years we still have 250 Merr0w and Radical Distortion, we have 250-300 of all we released in 2010, 300-400 of what we released in 2011 and 500+ of what we released in 2012. I have 3000+ CDs in stock right now." Just curious. With that many CDs in stock, at what point, if any, are you willing to consider deep discount "clearance sales" just to recover some of your investment?
  16. MEEO was also part of Yggdrasil, which released the excellent album Prose Edda, which is somewhat similar to Shpongle.
  17. Correct BandCamp link: http://spacedockrecords.bandcamp.com/album/liquid-flow-cosmic-ascension-ep
  18. I'm not a producer, just a fan, but I sometimes use a simple program like Audacity to create alternate versions of various tracks for my own music library. For example, I slowed down the tempo of a few Globular tracks by 15-20% because I thought they were more "trippy" at a lower BPM. There must be many other people who also do something like this (probably using much more sophisticated software). I'm just curious to know whether such "personal remixes" are common or not. Comments anyone?
  19. I can't give you 5 examples, but the best rock I've heard in the last few years is the new Rush album, Clockwork Angels (2012). If you go back a few years, there were two good jazz / rock albums by Niacin: Time Crunch (2001) and Organik (2005). If you want to stretch the rock definition a little bit more, you might also consider Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks (2005). However, most mainstream "rock" produced in the last 20-30 years has been total crap. The musicians may be more technically proficient but the music is bland and derivative, no matter how loud and fast they play. Rock is dead. Move on.
  20. I thought Time Dilation was the best track.
  21. Artist: Aphid Moon Title: Synthetic Life EP Label: Aphid Records Released: September 2010 Track Listing 1 – Aphid Moon & Astronomix – Optica (7:49 / 144 BPM) 2 – Aphid Moon & Chameleon – Synthetic Life (7:33 / 144 BPM) 3 – Aphid Moon & Made On Earth – Neblina (8:40 / 142 BPM) This is a pretty good album that seems to have fallen through the cracks. I don’t have the music vocabulary to provide detailed track descriptions, so I’ll just say that Synthetic Life and Neblina are both good tracks, and compare favorably to some of Aphid Moon’s best prior work. I rate the album somewhere around 7/10 or 8/10, but your mileage may differ. You can preview the entire EP at Bandcamp: http://aphidmoon.ban...nthetic-life-ep
