Eat Static - Dead Planet [Mesmobeat]
kiriyama replied to a topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I feel like the artwork fits the music well and the concept to which Eat Static has adhered throughout the years. I would've loved to have this as 2x12" especially because of the artwork. -

kiriyama replied to kiriyama's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Hey psyber, Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, we're keen to unveil the Purosurpo & Zoon release, too. We wrote about that in the newsletter that was sent out today (Would you like me to register you? Just need your e-mail.). You can read the newsletter here: http://ymlp.com/zLa7k5 (there's a part about the World Ski Championships, too, which are currently taking place in DVSM town :-)). This is what we wrote: ... so yes, the plan is to release a CD version of that one. :-)- 4 replies

MAAN - SWARM ROBOTICS EP DVSM Records / DVSMDIG004 / 2014.12.25 Mastered by Colin Bennun (OOOD) Artwork by ShivaOm. Fractal background by C-91. Poem by Håvard J. Nilsen All revenue donated to the A21 campaign whose aim is to fight trafficking. A glimpse of the rising sun between the trees. It is 6 am and sequences characterised in part by analogue warmth, in part by digital resonance, emanate from the speakers. Hailing form Norway, Frode Ungar has pieced together his debut EP, the mood of which is contemplative, floaty and in some ways reminiscent of Scandinavian get-togethers long past. We are therefore pleased to present you with our latest release, Maan – Swarm Robotics EP. I must admit that the LSD remix sounds quite interesting. I get goosebumps by listening to that sample. AP will always be.... AP. Oh, those were the days...

I quite enjoyed Aztechno Dream back when it came out, but it probably had more to do with the fact that there were quite a few good parties thrown back then. It was straight, simple and party friendly, as far as I can remember, however I'm not sure I'd feel that today were I to listen to it again. The last two albums, on the other hand, now that's where I was left stranded on a desert island.

+1. Only good memories.

Back to the roots, as it were: Cold war space-race SF anno 1967.

Not that I can relate to what you describe completely, but my CDs are still boxed up in a storage after my years of living abroad. I have only my vinyl records accessible, which is still my format of choice. Sometimes I wonder what's in my collection, really. I mean, I used to scan the shelves and see what hidden gem waited to be rediscovered, so to speak.

I thought that the first novel was rather good whereas the following two were at times perceived as quite dull with few interesting moments. I'd recommend anyone who's started to scratch on the surface of this type of space opera to get immersed in Iain M. Banks' novels instead (The Player of Games is one of my favourites). On a different note, I just finished reading Arthur C. Clarke's The Hammer of God. Clarke's ability to offer what feels like a plausible peek into the future is simply mind-boggling and still accessible.

Keen to have some fun in the studio while the summer is still here? Why not remix a track by LAB from his 2012 science-fiction blast Clean Air Turbulence EP? Two remix files are up and ready to be downloaded onto your hard drive, packed with sounds from the title track and Ascendant Stars. Any remix to which the jury takes a liking will be considered for release on DVSM Records. Click the link below for instructions on how to enter the competition and get the packs. MDK here on Psynews used the following words to describe C.A.T: "My favorite is the title track with so much going on it reminded me of a John Woo fight scene." Get full instructions and download the remix packs here: http://www.dvsmrecords.org/?page_id=3163 If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch: info (at) dvsmrecords.org Closing date: October 1, 2014. Would be fun to discover both new and old talents out there in cyberspace! :-) Have fun!

VARIOUS - 71 DEGREES NORTH DVSM RECORDS What may be the first psychedelic trance compilation developed less than 2,000 kilometres from the magnetic North Pole... Winds, seemingly ceaseless, sweep across the barren moon-like landscape of rocks and fjords less than 2,000 kilometres from the magnetic North Pole. Traces of nine months of winter and Arctic hurricanes are visible on the weather-beaten houses along the Norwegian coast. In the night sky displays of northern lights dance in the darkness, a sun-expelled darkness that is fortified and complete for three months each year. Blue-purple tones are visible on the polar night horizon from mid November to early February. Roads, harbours and airports are closed due to severe weather systems and villages are cut off from the outside world for days on end. One can only guess where the sun is. Each year, however, the sun returns as though a miracle. The people celebrating its arrival with sun buns and hot chocolate. Perched in the sky from mid May to the end of July, the midnight sun brings about an explosion of verdure. Whales and seals swim close to shore where reindeers prepare themselves for the end of the short summer. Once more life prospers in the Arctic. Everything green soon transforms into a rustic orange, however, and winter engulfs again the northernmost point of mainland Europe, tightening its grip. This is life at 71 Degrees North - where nature rules. Artwork by Rusty Psyflyart Mastered by Colin (OOOD) at the Stooodio, Bristol, UK. Compiled by Kiriyama. Features works by Phobium, Bloomen, Time For Slime, Zoon, Scope, Silent Horror, Terratech, Paranoiac, Sundance Kid and Yggdrasil. Available for purchase and instant download: http://dvsm.bandcamp.com/album/71-degrees-north (Bandcamp purchase includes front and back cover, inlay and desktop wallpaper.) Limited edition CD to be developed this summer as soon as we're off work and vacation starts... http://www.dvsmrecords.org

An absolute classic, indeed. Watched it again last year as my lady hadn't seen it and we both laughed throughout the movie. It didn't quite have the same effect on us as it did back in the '80s. (I remember my dad being all stoked about the movie and the special effects.)

One of the few classics I keep coming back to every once in a while. Simple yet timeless, awesome goa trance music. Turn up the volume, please.
