LAB - Clean Air Turbulence EP (DVSM Records)
kiriyama replied to kiriyama's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Hey Juril, Even if you've found the answer you were looking for, I thought I'd shed a bit more light on the status of the new compilation. I've recently moved between countries which unfortunately has limited the time I've been able to devote to the label. I first anticipated that we'd be able to squeeze out both the new compilation and LAB's new EP before August, yet LAB's EP took somewhat more work than I had expected. Moreover, I wasn't 100% pleased with the sound of two of the tracks on the new compilation. Thus, upon finishing LAB's EP, I decided to postpone the compilation; to ensure the quality of the final product is our first priority, however this goal is right now difficult to achieve as I'm currently working overseas. Please hold out to February. :-) All the best, Alex@DVSM- 6 replies

I'm happy to hear that, IronSun. I look forward to immersing myself in George R.R. Martin's world. I usually don't read much fantasy at all as I have a predilection for science-fiction, so I see this as an experiment - perhaps I'll get hooked. We'll see. :-)

Just finished Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. Magic realism at its best - simply wonderful. Now reading the first book in the A Song of Fire and Ice series.

Finished Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall. An inspiring feel-good piece on running.

Finished After Dark by Haruki Murakami. What an inspiring and thought-provoking author he is. Can't wait to start reading Kafka on the Shore.

Just finished Sendebudet Muhammad (The Messenger) by Kader Abdolah. Quite an interesting description of the life of Muhammad the prophet.
-
Just finished Franskmenn - en bruksanvisning (Frenchmen - a user's guide) by Arne Bru. He's spent more than 15 years of his life living in France and with a touch of irony, this book discusses from a Scandinavian perspective what makes the Frenchmen French. Arne goes through topics such as large-city traffic and its non-existent set of rules, politics, food and drinks, famous actors and actresses and much more. Quite a lighthearted read but nonetheless entertaining.

I still have access to the page. The player has that 'locked' symbol in the upper right corner, so I guess that TIP made it visible only to those who were already following them on SoundCloud.

Not particularly impressed, though I must say that Sandman's remix sounds pretty nice (it's the one at 13:00, right?), and Yurika's seems o be all right, too. In fact, they remind me of Amen in a good way. But one-two good track out of six, that doesn't quite cut it for me. Does anyone know if this EP will be available on CD or vinyl, or will it be download only?

If you have an external soundcard, try to run it on its own power and not powered by the USB/FW connection. Trying different sockets can also help. -
Read the novella Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, a work of fiction which in part helped him become a Nobel Prize laureate 1929. It's quite an interesting read which at times reminds me of J.M.G. Le Clézio's style. Quoted from Wikipedia:

Are you sure you're not looking for Pusher? Features the Koxbox track Fuel On. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117407/soundtrack

Haven't seen it but you pretty much hit the nail on its head. I too was thinking about Battle Royale when I saw the trailer a few days ago. Some tasks require a Beat Takeshi to do it, and there doesn't seem to be any Beat at play here.

VST synth for classic goa lead sounds

I saw that this thread has aged quite a bit, but perhaps someone will get a bit of help from this. Check out Sylenth1. The support is somewhat lacking as the maker of the plug-in tends to disappear from time to time, but the last version seems to run stable on most systems and there are tons of banks out there with psytrance-sounding arps, leads and whatnot to give you a head start. -
Finished the last part in the Humanity's Fire trilogy, The Ascendant Stars by Michael Cobley. Unfortunately there were simply too many loose threads towards the end, and I really struggled with keeping track of events - who's AI did what and who was at war with whom etc... The first book, Seeds of Earth, was definitely the best one of them. OK, back to Banks, it is...

DVSM: Win Silent Horror 'Séance' CDs!
kiriyama replied to kiriyama's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Our first competition has ended and we have no less than 6(!) happy winners! Yes, we were supposed to draw 5 winners but eventually ended up making sure that there are six happy new owners of our latest release, Séance. It seems like the last question proved to be quite a challenge as only two people could provide us with the correct answers! Good job, Mikkel and Karan! Thus, we had to draw the last four winners (see pictures below). The winners are: Mikkel Jais Pedersen (Denmark), Karan Chawla (India), Dmitry Tikhomirov (Russia), Philip Wild (UK), Rahul Maewall (India) and Gent Gjonbalaj (Kosovo). Congratulations! We wish to say thank you to everyone who participated! Even an online competition can be exciting, can’t it? Rahul, Gent, Dmitry and Phil each won a copy of our new release. Preparing the packages with the (compulsory) Arctic alien, which started as a Christmas joke. This topic made me think of an old classic by The Visitors. When weird gets even more weird. Simply wonderful.
