  1. Still eight days to go, folks. Far from all have answered the questions correctly, so chances are that you might be the winner. Just don't forget to send in your answers. The competition ends on March 22.
  2. Oh so many memories... The Krumelur track is awesome!
  3. Nice one. It reminds me of one of the old party spots in Kilsbergen.
  4. DVSM RECORDS COMPETITION Would you like to get a free copy of Séance? Join our new competition! Up for grabs are five copies of Silent Horror's new album and you could be one of the lucky few. All you have to do is to answer the three questions below and send your answers to info (at) devilsmindrecords (dot) org (don't forget to change the (at) and (dot) ) The competition will run throughout 22 March. Winners will be randomly selected provided they have answered all the questions correctly, just like at the airport these days. NB! Don't forget to include your name and where you'd like us to ship your CD! Good luck! Question 1: DVSM was founded in... a ) Late summer of 2004 b ) Early spring of 2005 c ) A few weeks before the release of the first compilation, Refused Question 2: Jigar 'Silent Horror' has released quite a few tracks on various compilations and made guest appearances on artist albums. How many, roughly speaking? a ) About 20 tracks b ) About 30 tracks c ) More than 40 tracks Question 3: The track Drums In The Deep was originally not supposed to be featured on the album Masters of Outhouse. Nevertheless, it was featured on the final version of the album. Why? a ) There was another track that was supposed to be the first one on the album, but there was a glitch in the recording that could not be fixed. Thus, Drums In The Deep filled the slot. b ) Lulle 'Ka-Sol' included Drums In The Deep by accident when he mastered the CD. Upon discovering the new track, Alex was adamant that they keep Drums In The Deep instead of the original first track, and David 'Buddha' and Lulle took his advice. c ) This is a trick question. Drums In the Deep was thought to be a track that had a solid, given place on the CD already when the first discussions on the track list took place.
  5. Finished the second part in the Humanity's Fire trilogy, The Orphaned Worlds by Michael Cobley. Like many other trilogies, this second part feels like some sort of means of transport with which to connect the first book with the third without too much action happening. There is a bit of swing from time to time and it isn't really dull, just not as consistently exciting as the first book with the exception of the last 200 pages. There are a lot of loose threads that need be tied up and I've already started reading the third (and last) book in the trilogy. I just hope that it's more similar to the first book in terms of tension.
  6. No, I haven't read any of Reynold's books yet but I'm quite sure I will after I've finished the Humanity's Fire series by Michael Cobley. Moreover, it just so happens that two days ago Cobley's publisher announced that there'll be a fourth book in the series, which is currently scheduled for release in autumn 2013.
  7. Just finished re-reading one of the best novellas ever written, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. A thought-provoking take on colonial atrocities in the Congo Free State. I was first introduced to this novella during my studies in English literature and re-reading it now a few years later, it gets even better.

  9. Just finished reading the first part of the Culture series, Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks. Space opera at its best.
  10. Just finished reading Metro 2034 by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Although not quite as entertaining as the first book in the series, it's a good read and I hope that we'll see a third novel from Glukhovsky.
  11. Just finished Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. Discusses in a philosophical way various subjects such as coming of age, athleticism, and how a focused long-term activity such as running has been necessary for his creative output, all blended with a travelogue and memoirs. You don't have to be a runner to enjoy this book thoroughly as there's so much more to it. Recommended.

  13. Just finished reading Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Post-apocalyptic adventure with a slight touch of sci-fi set in Moscow. Recommended.
  14. Putting together this album was good fun so glancing through this thread brought a smile upon my lips. Just wanted to give you a heads-up that we've set up our own page over at Bandcamp from where you can get this album directly from us. If you still haven't got Masters of Outhouse or feel like supporting the source from which this one emerged, please feel free to navigate to this link, thank you! We appreciate your support. Moreover, I'd recommend you to check out the Buddhas' new release on Bandcamp - you don't want to miss out on anything from them - http://battlebuddhas.bandcamp.com.
  15. Good to see that you're still around, Henning. Best of luck with the new release.
  16. The digital release (MP3/WAV/FLAC/stream) will most likely be out on October 5!
  17. Thanks Rotwang, I'm happy to hear that. As to the link, I've edited the main post and updated the link. Thanks for notifying me.
  18. I wanted to wait a little before announcing the release date to make sure that there wouldn't be any shipping delays... and this morning I received the confirmation I'd been waiting for. Séance will hit stores on September 23! However, my gut feeling tells me that it might be available a little sooner than that... We hope that you'll like the release as much as we had fun making it! http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display_release.asp?id=8857 http://www.arabesquedistribution.com//index.php?option=com_artistavenue&task=singleCd&id=2675&Itemid=1 http://www.goastore.ch/product_info.php?products_id=4603 http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/436071-01.htm http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dvs/dvs1cd007.html http://www.beatspace.com/6646/Devils+Mind+Records/SILENT+HORROR/Seance+/detail.aspx As to the digital version, I'll get back to you as soon as I know more. Moreover, I'm pleased to say that the new compilation is almost ripe. We're just waiting for one more track and then we're good to go. The Puro/Taigan/Zoon split CD has been rescheduled to come out after the compilation as one of the artists needed just a bit more time due to hardware issues.
  19. SILENT HORROR - SÉANCE DEVILS MIND RECORDS From the Arctic region of Norway and Pune, India, we wish to present the long-awaited follow-up to Nemesis and Patterns EP: Séance! Format: CD jewel case + 6-page booklet + DJ slip Cat#: DVSMCD007 Mastered by: Colin Bennun (OOOD) Artwork by: NomadiCortex ( http://www.nomadicortex.info ) Distributed worldwide by Saiko Sounds and in Europe by Arabesque Distribution. Celebrating its 7th anniversary, Devil’s Mind Records proudly presents what may well be the first psychedelic trance album ever written in symbiosis with the oceans of the world. A marine engineer by profession, Jigar Shah wrote and arranged his new album at sea. From the shores of Australia to the gulfs of India, passing through European bays and above deep-water sea caves in the Atlantic Ocean, the music reflects a months-long journey brought forth by waves and weather, in a milieu seemingly endless from the horizon of a ship, limitless to the observer. Having been an integral part of mythological attempts to place humans in a context ever since the age of the hunters, the spiritual voyage of the séance links us to our ancestors and helps people make sense of the world. Séance explores this ritual and links it with the nocturnal spectrum of hypnotic rhythms. Through immeasurable expanses of dark blue, the séance navigates, as it were, moving between the finite and the insubstantial, putting everything into perspective, the voyage of the soul at sea, to find oneself in a timeless fabric. Let the séance commence. Track list: 1. Inner Soul (07:23) 2. Twinkled (07:40) 3. Drum Ritual (06:55) 4. Of None But It (07:36) 5. Black Orb (07:05) 6. Higher Access (09:01) 7. Journey (09:22) 8. Déjà Vu (09:25) 9. The Calling (09:26) Samples: http://devilsmindrecords.org/?page_id=7 ...and to give you a deeper glimpse of the album, here's the full-length version of the third track, Drum Ritual! http://soundcloud.com/devilsmindrecords/silent-horror-drum-ritual Silent Horror's second album is scheduled to be released mid/late September. We're working to make the digital release (WAV/MP3/stream) available right after the CD hits stores. If you're interested in reviewing this album, we kindly ask you to contact us at info@devilsmindrecords.org for promotional copies. We appreciate your support! All the best, Alex & Jigar + the Devils Mind Family http://www.devilsmindrecords.org / info@devilsmindrecords.org http://soundcloud.com/devilsmindrecords http://www.myspace.com/devilsmindrecords
  20. Haven't heard the release but just wanted to add that it's nice to see a little stream of Swedish finding its way into this producer's creative world. (The producer is from Germany, isn't he?) For those of you that aren't familiar with the Scandinavian languages, the title means My Own Little World EP. I'm going to hit up that website and see what this guy has been cooking. Thanks for the review, Trance2MoveU, you're very prolific, it's fun to read your reviews even if i don't always arrive at the same conclusion as you. Keep up the good work.
