Pretty much everything has been said already. It's very repetitive, if not too repetitive. You need more of a highlight. I recommend a more techy, noisy part where the things seem to take off, something like in Hujaboy - The Day. And yeah - it's right, you probably need more percussion. More is less here. By the way, I personally think that the kick is a bit too dominant, at least on its middle frequencies. I feel a little distracted if the kick is knocking so hard. Okay, anyway, enough complaints. Again a very good forest style track. Nice production, and I dont need to say you rule at creating a dark forest ambience

Another track in progress: Xiphiaz - Imidiman
Cybernetika replied to xiphiaz's topic in Free Music Promotion
Again a very nice tune, but I feel a bit like Manuser, I like the Chi Cha track more. Doesnt have to mean that this track is bad. Not at all =) However, the passage starting at 2:30 is a bit boring to me, maybe add more FX in this passage. Experiment a bit with the deep "pad", now it's a loop repeated every 4 bars. If possible, make some Filter tweaks with it, or use some FX, whatever you want. Rest is nice as always -
Who has wasp and sim synth full
Cybernetika replied to Asteroid's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
No, they are most definately not. Name one professional producer who uses them. Get a better sounding one. I know there are many ppl who dislike Vanguard, but these are even worse. Especially wasp is crap. But if you can get good sounds out of it, youre good ;P -
Who has wasp and sim synth full
Cybernetika replied to Asteroid's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
They're not really worth it in my opinion. Get some good VST synths such as ReFX Vanguard or rgc z3ta+. -
Yup, we Germans rule at Minimal Psy and Psy-Tekk =) Minimal is not too much my style (except M.O.S. who just rule), but I love Psy-tekk, and to say this subgenre is dominated by german artists (The Delta, midimiliz ... ) is almost an understatement. Probably there wouldnt be any Psy-tekk without the influences of German artists. I suppose this dark, deep, techy, industrial-influenced sound is a German trademark By the way, I made a Psytekk mix consisting mostly of German classics: http://www.cybernetika.de/mixed_by_cyberne..._cryogenics.mp3 ... not the best but if you like this style, give it a listen

name a good artist never mentioned here before
Cybernetika replied to psychonaut's topic in General Psytrance
I know the music of the Shizit since years now, but their site doesnt exist anymore.. their site at mp3.com went down as well... Seems like all traces have been removed. And of course I dont have the mp3s left The only thing I found out is that the Shizit have a connection with Rabbitjunk (their site: http://www.rabbitjunk.com/ ) ... some kind of nice Digital Hardcore, I like that stuff. lets see... I remember for now some great Industrial Black Metal bands, one of my favorite styles: Thee Maldoror Kollective (!!), Bloodline, Aborym (!!), Anaal Nathrakh(!), Diabolicum, Meridian, ...and Oceans (!!!), Sirius (!!), Thorns, Darkspace, Myrkskog(!!), Red Harvest, Skymning, Tidfall(!!), Mörk Gryning, Trollheim's Grott (!!!) Some dark ambient/industrial/whatever stuff: Inade, Desiderii Marginis, Cdatakill, Converter, Ah Cama Sotz, Survival Unit, Milice Burgeoisioale, Death in June, Arditi -

Awesome one. Thanks!! -
In my words, Ringmod makes a sound amelodic, and often horror-like. Know that spooky 50s Horror Film themes? I think they have been done with a ringmodulator. I dont really understand the technique behind a ring modulator, but basically it creates a "ringing" sound, hard to describe, but once youve heard it, you'll recognize it. The sound is then usually centered at a new specified frequency instead of the tonic frequency it usually has. It's an interesting effect every producer of darker music should know... If you ever thought you synths sound "too melodic", you should try this. I use mda Ringmod: http://www.plugorama.com/customer/product.php?productid=236 Very simple and nothing special.

I love this dark Forest style Basically, I think I can say the same about this as I commented on the last track. Kick and bass just work perfectly, and the ambience is great throughout the whole tune. However, I find these crackling noises a little distracting. I know you want to give the tune more depth by using them, but you should maybe consider replacing them with something else. What about a phased/flanged hi noise swirling around? Furthermore, I agree with the others about the track's structure... There is not enough interchange when you listen to the track as a whole. I suggest you add maybe a part with another heavy percussive element. Or get a really demented ring-modded synth over this. Keep this quality up!

Hehe yeah, I planned this mix quite conceptual and it took me some days to really decide about the track selection and the order so that everything fits into the concept

New track in progress: Xiphiaz - Chi Cha
Cybernetika replied to xiphiaz's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Hey Xiph, again a very leet tune. Dare I say (in danger of sucking up to you too much) that you are a very talented guy? ... honestly, I see its only a matter of time until your stuff gets signed. I am always looking for something to criticize, and usually I find at least a bit I'm not 100% content, but here I can't really find anything to improve. Sorry Completely fallen in love with the percussion. Well, suggestions how to continue... difficult. You need probably a part with a lead, thought of an acoustic guitar maybe? The organic feel of the track demands probably a kinda "natural" lead. Any real instruments would be awesome. Daze's suggestion is not bad either, maybe a more full-onish parts where the tune "takes off" and gets a more ethereal feeling... I could well imagine this. -
Wat's the best software to make psytrance?
Cybernetika replied to CutoffKnob's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I think you should get better VSTplugins that you can use in Fruity. ReFX Vanguard for example sounds simply a lot better than the fruity integrated synthesizers. -
Interesting range of styles you got there. Your stuff sounds very experimental to me, and I like that, it's the stuff I least expected, heh. However I get the impression that your style is mostly pretty .. eh.. deep. It could maybe get more hi frequencies. And sometimes it gets a little too minimalistic for my taste. However it is always good to hear new artists with a nice track collection. Keep it up!
-
Hehe, interesting, I wasnt expecting this style... usually this is not exactly the stuff I prefer, but this one works surprisingly well First of all: Great production! The first few minutes are great in terms of layering and balance between them, and every element is clearly audible. Nicey nice The synth starting at 3:50 is not too much my taste, but that might just be me. The rest however is top notch stuff. Indeed good party stuff, not too Psy, but who cares ... so when are you going to make your first release?

review my track (ludicrous track :))
Cybernetika replied to Manuser's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Agree with Daze. The psychedelic sounds are well designed and the bass is quite nice, but the tune is definately lacking mid-area frequencies. You have very loud hi frequencies compared to the rest, whereas the mid-area frequencies are definately too weak - almost not present. So you need probably more. What about a bubbling acidline or something like that? And reduce some of the high-frequency sounds a bit, they hurt a little in the ear .. other than that, its already some good stuff to keep working on. -
New song + in need of help!
Cybernetika replied to Daze's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I dont have the time right now to give the most detailed comment, but I'll add more things later if I still discover some things. It's indeed a kickass track. Kick and bass are lovely, and all the jungle sounds are just WHOA. Very impressed of your tune and liking its atmosphere a lot. However I do think that in the long run it needs probably a bit more to keep the interest at a constantly high level. It is already great that way, but there needs to be some kind of climax to make me wanna hear it again and again. I personally dont like the snare that much. I dont know, I like that rather deep snare sound, but theres something about it that sounds 'wrong' and I cant really locate it. Another thing is you got some distortion at some points. Some elements exceed the limits a bit. Try to make the mix maybe a bit more balanced with EQing, limiting and compression. Eh ok, I wrote too much again... anyway, this track deserves a lot of attention. Great one! 2 questions: The bassline is Killargh (in the good way). Any recommendations to make it that deep and punchy at the same time? And how did you create the ambience? Is it all samples? Some done in Spectrasonics Atmosphere maybe? PS: lovely forest view you got there. Thats why I want to go to scandinavia. -
Hi folks, this is one of my newer mixes and one of my best so far, although I am still quite new at that. Some transitions are still not perfect (my biggest error is the first transition), but mostly it should be quite ok So I'm very proud to introduce you to the Cryogenics (mixed by Cybernetika) Wikipedia says: Cryogenics is the study of very low temperatures or the production of the same, and is often confused with cryobiology, the study of the effect of low temperatures on organisms, or the study of cryopreservation. Likewise, cryonics is the nascent study of the cryopreservation of the human body. Unlike cryogenics, cryonics is not an established science and is viewed with skepticism by most scientists and doctors today. I chose this title because "cold" is probably the best adjective to describe this style of music. It is a heavy and dark Industrial influenced sound. The most mechanical and coldest side of Psytrance. "Cryogenics" - Psy-tekk mix June 2005: Tracklist: 1. X-Dream - Rewind 2. PPS Project - Icon 3. Cybered - Unlimited Edition 4. Entropy - Nobody Really Knows 5. X-Dream - Thorazin 6. PPS Project - Complex 7. Wormfood - Heavy Rumblings 8. Hujaboy - Virtual Anal(og) 9. Cybered - Silentium Universii (Rmx) 10. Hujaboy - Save Ass 11. Entropy - Dish 12. The Delta - Thing 13. Spirallianz - Battlejuice Length: 66:54 mins To get the file, click on the graphic or right click, save as here: Download "Cryogenics" (mixed by Cybernetika, June 2005) here Enjoy it, feedback as always appreciated

Guitar Psy: Cybernetika - Icestorms

Hey Squaff, whats up? .. if you feel like making a mix again, contact me -
I just wanted to ask exactly the same question. Who needs Shpongle? I want a new Hallucinogen

Wow, I'm very impressed of this. Very deep soundscapes morphing into each other, I really like it. Even though I dont really know about the production of that genre, I think it is very well done. The production is quite nice and manages to enhance the atmosphere. However, some of your upper frequencies are too loud, I discovered that a limiter can take these out very well, plus it doesnt alter the sound as much as a compressor does. The pads in the ending are too loud as well, they exceed the limit and hurt a bit in the ear Nevertheless, cool track with a lot of potential, cant wait to hear it in full lenght

Good one, thanks for sharing -
Hey, nice tune you got there. Good atmosphere buildup. I personally think you got some elements distorting a little and some hurting a bit in the ear but since you said its unmastered its ok. I suggest you use a limiter then. The psychedelic factor is very high, especially towards the end, I love that In the beginning the whole mix sounds a bit empty. You should try backing it all up with more percussive elements. Maybe some pitch swirling FX or something like that. Furthermore, the bass needs to be a bit more present in my opinion. Oh, and you should clearly improve your hihat samples by layering them with each other so that they sound 'fuller'. Anyway, enough criticism, I really like the track, great acidlines and layering... I agree that this is your best track. Get it mastered properly

making variations in the loop
Cybernetika replied to ajay_spunky's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
It has been pretty much mentioned: It is mostly about automation. An LFO on the cutoff, a triggered gate Effect, some slight percussion variations every 2nd, 4th or 8th bar will do most of the work
