Toi Doi - Technological 1. Star shoot trippers 2. D'eden space 3. Replicant 4. Enfants sacres 5. Ze cosmo trips 6. Spiral dive 7. Nuage D'encens 8. Up days 9. D-Liss Probably one of the best Goa/Psy Albums I have ever heard, Technological by the french producer Toi Doi was one of my first Goa albums, and I still love its energy a lot. 01 - Star Shoot Trippers The album starts off with an ambient, spacey intro and a robotic voice sample taken from the movie "Dune", until a quite heavy beat and a pounding bassline kick in. Spacey FX and trippy synthlines constantly add more drive to the tune. Until at 3:30 a razor sharp synthline starts melting its way through the listener's brain. This very non-melodic track constantly picks up more and more layers until it releases its full madness in a great climax in the end. This is Hi-Energy Psy at its best, far from bein plain Full-On (9/10) 02 - D'Eden Space Picks up the trippy, cybernetic feeling of the first track. Again lots of LFOed, harsh and trippy synths guide the track towards the first climax at 4:15. The lead melody is very dark and haunting. The track's structure is very similar to the first one so we are taken on a very hard trip again. The track is quite long though and doesn't manage to keep up my full attention during its full length. Neverless, a very enjoyable track (8/10) 03 - Replicant This track gets more melodic finally, and this is not a bad sign at all. This is classic Hi-Energy Goa like it should be. It probably can't get much trippier. More and more layers of very futuristic "technoish" synths are added. Awesome! (9.5/10) 04 - Enfants Sacres Extremely hard track with a monstrous bassline and a very hard percussion. Has some very interesting passages with creepy synthlines. Sounds like it is probably a precursor of the Dark Psytrance of nowadays. All in all, a bit disappointing (6/10) 05 - Ze Cosmos Trips A dark, demonic voice introduces this tune which again starts off very obscure. There are a lot of weird FX all over the place that clearly have remind me a lot of the nowadays' Darkpsy again, but here it has been done a lot better than on track 4. Massive FX melt their way through your brain, metallic synthlines remind of a world inhabited by hostile cyborgs. While other tracks on this album already fit the title of the Album, this one would fit a soundtrack to Stanislaw Lem's nightmares. (9/10) 06 - Spiral Dive While this track runs at a quite fast pace, it's probably one of the least energetic tunes on "Technological". And it lacks a bit the great FX of the previous tracks, though there are some great mind-grinding sounds inside. Solid (7/10) 07 - Nuage D'Encens Great beginning with some kind of slapped bass sounds, then it picks up a very weird talkbox-type synthline, spaceship FX, and even a female singer sample (which fits very well). Again, Toi Doi present us more and more layers on top of each other until it explodes a pure cyber-mayhem. The leads are not what I'd call melodic, because they are very repetitive, but somehow it works amazingly well! (9.5/10) 08 - Up Days This is the ultimate space trip! All the other tracks have been quite multi-layered as well, but the depth of this tops it all. This is maximal, trippy Goa at its best. Describing all the images it creates within me and the state it puts me in would probably become too long, so I just say you must listen to this one! (10/10) 09 - D-Liss Again, a very trippy tune, this time not so cold, metallic and cybernetic as the rest of the album was. In fact, this track is very warm Dream Goa Trance that is well placed as an ending of the album. Very deep and detailed track with a great mood. (9.5/10) Overall rating: 9/10 A very dark and trippy album with a very artificial and robotic atmosphere. This is a great Oldschool Dark Goa album that also coined the Dark Psy artists very much. If you like a maximal style and a rather high tempo, you should really check out this album.

yep, the second half of shamanix absolutely does it for me.

Very interesting style you have there. Sounds like experimental electronica to me. First of all, your tune is way too silent, but I know, that can be fixed later on. I think you need fatter percussion, at least the snare. Try layering it with other sounds and it will instantly sound warmer and more lively. You got way too sharp hi souds at 2:30... they make my ears bleed And you need more deep bass frequencies so that the tune sounds warmer. Keep this originality up and improve the quality

How will we compete?
Cybernetika replied to Subsonik's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I'd always start with trying to make the music I want to make properly. If youre mostly into Psy, which I assume, then you should try to produce this genre first. After all, there is no genre you will enjoy producing in more, and this is what matters most I think. And you probably know it better than any other genre. Not necessarily in terms of "how-to-produce" but in terms of what sounds right or wrong. -
Old skool Goa track...
Cybernetika replied to Time_Trap's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Really awesome FX and weird synths you got there. The bass is great imo. Cool intro. Nice dark feel of the track, really takes me into a trippy state All in all the track is quite monotone. I'd try adding a bit of variation towards the end. Maybe alter the key. Or add more energy later on. All in all however the tunage is great, keep it up! -
Hi, again I got a new tune for you It's called "Genetisis" and it's a driving, hard and trippy tune with both Goa and Psy elements. And it's quite dark, so I suppose you can say I returned to my usual style on this one. The bassline is a bit different though and some kind of experiment, let me know what you think about it. I did almost all of the synths with ReFX Vanguard, except the pads and atmosphere which were done in Spectrasonics Atmosphere. I got inspiration from my thoughts about genetic engineering and man trying to play god. This track is meant to express both fear and and hope about the coming new era. Title: Genetisis Length: 8:01 Bitrate: 192 kbps Filesize: ~11MB The link: http://www.cybernetika.de/cybernetika_-_genetisis.mp3 Enjoy the tune

Ok, he got that actually only in parts of some of his tracks. "Mars bless you" has a 3/4 passage which rocks pretty much.

Kindzadza

oh yes, before I forget, I have some sample packs hosted on my webspace: http://www.cybernetika.de/nadrums.rar (various 'basic' drums like snares and hats, a bit more real sounding) http://www.cybernetika.de/various.rar (unsorted samples, 'basic' percussion as well as some FX and short hits/stabs) if you still need more, I'll upload them.

A good kick sample for you: http://www.cybernetika.de/psy_kick.wav I know what you mean, I prefer to use samples as well, because I think making them myself for each track makes me kinda tired.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I cant wait to check them out

Hey. I've been looking eternally for high energy breakbeat tunes like "Firestarter" by the prodigy. They need to be hard, dark and driving (maybe with a dirty industrial attitude). Tunes I've found so far are Cubanate - Hinterland / Front Line Assembly - Backlash... But I want to know if there are artists devoted to this kind of style, cause it really rocks. You know any? Thanks in advance!
-
Front Line Assembly - Insolence and Front Line Assembly - Existance Both have a dreamy, beautiful chorus, very unusual in Industrial music... both managed to make me shed some tears.
-
Well, this is my style of music too .. I have been influenced by Industrial and Metal as well, and Front Line Assembly is still one of my all-time faves.. so I'm more into the darker stuff anyway. Dark Psy like Fungus Funk, Kindzadza and Derango is definately very reminiscent of industrial, but it seems like you're looking for the I recommend you: Menog - Natural Behavior .. this should be the right thing for you, with lots of dark horrormovie-theme-like melodies. Xenomorph ... if you dont know him already, you gotta get this first Acid Rockers - Mind Set ... a gem. Some kind of hybrid between Drum'n'Bass/Breakbeat and Goa. Quite dark and very trippy. Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation... it is oldschool Goa and quite dark. Another interesting tune is "Probe" by Tufaan ... I got the original version of the tune here, it was played at di.fm some time, and it sounds much harsher and noisier than the remix by green nuns you find on the Destination Goa Soundtrack.
-
listened to the mix quite a bit now... very cool stuff, especially the second half
-
You must get Menog then http://www.psynews.org/reviews/naturalb.htm

new tune (Deep Space Dark Psy)
Cybernetika replied to Cybernetika's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Thanks a lot for your feedback, MoonMan. Yeah I noticed that these samples are kinda overused, but I think it had to be done in a track with a concept like that -
Very very good as a first track. Have to say I enjoyed listening. My first track was total crap, this has a lot of potential. The kick is very strong, I love the deep bubbling acidlines. Everything is extremely deep, but I suppose that was your intention. The only real suggestion I can make to you is: Include more percussive elements. and provide some more heights (maybe trough hihats). The rest of it is pretty cool.
-
I am starting to love this track more and more, awesome work and definately your best tune to date, Xiphiaz. no complaints from me
-
Nice Intro stuff. Wicked sample. Maybe its a bit too clean, you should consider adding some FX like delay or reverb to it, but that's your choice. I am a sucker for ultra-deep basses so I really dig yours, its damn deep and still clearly audible, very very nice! I think your track is well produced and has some extremely well designed sounds. In parts it needs maybe some more elaboration like Hi-Frequency FX. The way how you introduce the guitars is extremely nice. The guitars need some more release or a soft reverb so that they dont seem that short and cut off.

Another new tune (Numbers)
Cybernetika replied to MoonMan's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Kick is very hard, but I like it. The bass is ok, though I think you should try it with less resonance. The percussion works quite well for me. The pads as well. The gated synth starting at 3:00 could use some work because they distort. I think some of your synths are too dominant, you should consider turning them down a bit, it causes distortion and some clipping in parts. Especially the pads could be softened if you ask me. Have to say it was a well arrange track with some wicked breaks and surprises. Keep it up! -
Yeah, that has been my problem quite often, thanks
