I have to say this is also not so much my style. The synth melodies seem very random to me, some will like that, but that's not my cup of tea. Anyway, I'll try my best with this comment. I like how it builds up, slowly increasing intensity and cutoff, everything is becoming slowly clearer. Percussion is quite nice too, supports the music quite well. I think some of your synths may need some rework - LFO them, put some FX on them, and not to forget: Turn down the highest frequencies, some of your synths have really sharp heights... Somehow liked the part starting at 3:45, layers work together quite well. I don't know if you intended this, but some of your notes sound really off-key, no offense but it almost seems like a completely randomized melody... then I'd suggest you have a look at music theory, especially at hungarian minor, arabic, phrygian etc. scales, those are used very often in goa. I have to say, the sound of this is good, you just have to remove the offkey-notes, it will really improve your track. Not to forget: It's well done!

new track (fullon)
Cybernetika replied to Phat Controller's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Two words: Kicks ass! Okay, more detailed : Liking the bassline, sounds well saturated and thumping, great! ... the acid riff is really cool, I believe the sharp synths (around 2:00) dont seem to harmonize that good with the lead, maybe in some places they're a bit off-key. Liking how it builds up towards the end. I think one bass-note sounds a little bit off-key too, not disturbing but something doesn't fit perfectly, IMO... Holding the same voice sample for almost a minute is not such a good idea, IMO. Mastering-wise this is absolutely professional, synthwork is great, track buildup is also. You did well with this one -
What's your contribution to the circle of goa...

I provide you with some Goa/Psy tunes. I'm not signed. -
Interesting, I don't know anything of what you mentioned... will change that, thanks

Thanks for mentioning these two masterpieces! I'd say: pretty much anything of Talamasca's Stuff.

Hi, do you know any Goa/Psy tracks that are really fast (>150BPM)? I'm thinking of MFG - Process Irreversible and Green Nuns - Atomic Armadillo as good examples.
-
My "dream quartet" of VST plugin consists of: - Audiorealism Bassline (great for thumping and heavy basslines) - ReFX Vanguard (does most of the synthwork, great in producing metallic Leads, 303's, Gated and Arpeggiated Synths, bassline and FX also) - Linplug Albino (great for wierd Psy FX, this one is a really powerful synth capable of almost everything) - Spectrasonics Atmosphere (sample-based pad- and ambient-synth, great for atmospheric soundscapes - and some very nice pads!) I also use some free Plugins, one worth mentioning is EffEm - it's a quite nice FM-Synth, great for Psy!

Well, I think you have to know the consequences and what your doing. It may be a good experience to you, but it will also most likely cause physical and psychic damage... If that is o.k. for you, I don't think anyone has the right to prevent you from having fun that way. Why is the drug alcohol allowed while most other drugs are not? I think we can get further with total legalization (it would destroy the means of existance of drug dealers...), if we have a good drug education. People should know that drugs are dangerous but when they're adult they should be able to decide for theirselves what's good for them and what's not.
-
I already told my opinion about this. I don't think you need drugs. To me it's more like the music alone is the drug, good Goa can take you on a trip and expand your consciousness just by listening to it... but of course you should consider no one would have invented psy and goa without hallucinogens and stuff... I'm just kinda pissed off by guys that keep telling anyone how cool and stoned they are, that sucks... if you want to take drugs, do so, but don't think you're cooler then...

hiya! Here's my newest Creation "Impaler" for you. I don't know how to label this exactly, but in my opinion this is a Psychedelic Techno/Acid Track, very Dark and Hard. Did I say this is dark? It's IMO maybe the darkest tune I've ever made, and my style is quite dark in general... I don't consider this finished, I still have to balance levels.. I want it to sound chaotic and a bit muddy but at the same time I don't want severe frequency overlaps... I'll do some fine tuning. Anyway, I'd be really thankful if you take a listen and give me some feedback about this >> Download Cybernetika - Impaler

Oh yeah, I love these ones too... great acid melodies... I dont know anything 100% simliar, but you might try Dynamic, Album "Dynamix", Toi Doi, X-Wave&Safi Connection...

IT was maybe 2002 or 2003 when I started with Cydonia - In Fear of a Red Planet and Hallucinogen - Asnesnothine ... those two discs really were something special. I didn't like Techno and Trance but this music was different... darker, trippier, mystical. One lonely night I decided to listen to Hallucinogen's stuff... I was literally on a trip through time and space and beyond... Never had such a musical experience before (that's why I love Hallucinogen that much). This was my entry in the wonderful world of Goa ... with the time I started liking Psy, too and after some months I was completely addicted to Goa/Psy

I think in general Toi Doi is very 'Maximal' ... I actually like it more than minimal too..

Hey Xiphiaz, let's check you out. This is great! I'd consider this something between goa and psy... the bass is very driving every-16th, but in contrast you've got these trippy leads... I really dig them. I'm sorry, I've got to go now, but I couldn't find anything wrong about this now, maybe I'll take another listen later... However, your tune is awesome, keep it up, and extend it a bit. It's already over when this is getting really interesting.
-
Oh yeah, do that plz!! *fallsonhiskneesbegging*

I think slowly I'm getting this... heh

Exactly my thoughts. I also think you have to think about frequency ranges etc when you design and layer the sounds. Try to use Filters applied to the instruments instead of EQing/compressing the hell out of everything... Of course EQing is really needed in some cases, if there is too much "empty" frequency space, or if there are som severe overlaps for example. I actually use EQing and compression very rarely. In the beginning I've been told Compression and EQ stuff is so important, I was just focused on these things so that I had a very poor sound, it was just the other way round... On my newest track, I sent maybe 3 Channels through EQ, and only the clap through compressor, and I feel more content than ever with the result... I think that's mainly because my imagination of how frequencies work has become much better and I try to adapt my sounds to these frequency ranges when I design these (synth) sounds... But after all, it's just a question of your ears

Swan X-1 tracks .::. portuguese psy live-act
Cybernetika replied to Xamanist's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Fullmoon - I'm really diggin this Metallical sounding semi-bass! great with the panning! ... Percussion works really well together with the beat. I personally think your bassline is too low, it could in my opinion provide more "melody"... in the end this is getting a bit psyched, maybe that guitar melody is too silent compared to the beat, your hihats are really loud... I'm just amazed - And so am I .. Powerful Bassline, great atmospheric synths in the beginning. Nice beat, made me bang my head to this... at 6:33 there's a strange melody in the background, almost like a harmonica, only for a few seconds but it's the only thing I disliked... The ending was unbelievably great... I was loving the cooperation of the different layers. XMAS - I just can tell you that I liked the "Syul Version" more, it had just better Synthwork, FX and EQing. The "Serguei Version" wasn't bad either. I think with some EQing tweaks (this still sounds rough), this could be your breakthrough, if I were to judge this Across the Universe - Great, creepy intro. That kick is somehow very hard, the bassline rumbling very low. Like in Fullmoon: It leaves up greater space Frequency-wise, I know, but I think its better if the bassline provides a bit more melody. At 2:00 I really dig those oriental melodies. At 5:30 this is getting really interesting Goa with an oldschool edge, though I think it's sounding a bit distorted, I'm liking it very much. Oh, those were some really good Psy Trax you provided us here ... I think you have an excellent structure in your tunes, some very professional sounds, rythmically, this is just kickass. However, I think it's sounding maybe a bit rough. Maybe that was what you're going for but you shouldn't let it sound too distorted... Yeah... that's just minor criticism, you did very well! Keep it up! -
Is it "possible" to do all mix in Flstudio5
Cybernetika replied to yaroo's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Agree with Prio... if you have the proper VST plugins and sounds, and of course knowledge of what you're doing, it's indeed possible to do professional stuff... I personally like it more than Reason. I've been told even Mike Oldfield (you know "Tubular Bells"?) uses FL Studio. -
Maybe that one with the whale-like sounds is "Witchcraft - Whale"? Great tune

This track is ugly shit. But I have to annoy you with my question: Why is Skazi so much hated? I don't like his stuff very much either, though I can't find anything abhorrent about his music... Tracks like "Kill em all" are in fact quite nice.. What has he done to become hated that much?
