  1. Hi, I was looking at the Akai Professional web site, MPC section. I found out that some of these MPCs have 64 tracks...Do some of you use an MPC? It doesn't look as convenient as a full-fledged DAW on a computer with a large screen. Yet, these days, MPCs feature a computer sequencer too, and support VSTs...Any experience using one at home? (not live) What do you think? Is it convenient, do you waste time going through menu entries, do you miss any feature, does it have advantages on computer DAWs? Any specific MPC that you like? (MPC Renaissance, MPC5000, MPC Studio...) Maybe it's more suitable for minimal music... Please share...
  2. LOL...Yeah, as I mentioned: "somehow" It came to mind when I heard a demonstration of the v.1 of the Dark Energy. I think it could be used as a replacement (or as a companion)
  3. As collectors, yes. Nowadays, if it'spurely for music performance, the clones are good enough. I like the following replacements: TR-909 or TR-808 -> Jomox Airbase 99, 9090, TB-303 -> (Many!) TM-3030 (I want one!), Syntecno TeeBee, x0xb0x (Need I present it?) SH-101 -> Dark Energy, Paia Fatman, ok, somehow
  4. I agree with you! But, yeah, as you said, if it's just to have fun at home, for a live experiment, the above configuration is nice.
  5. Do you mean you use a DAW and additionally you trigger the hardware sequencer of the synth from the DAW?
  6. I mean, the SH-101 sequencer is extremely limited, compared to a full-fledged sequencer such as Cubase...
  7. Although the bass is somehow different, this synth that you mentioned is nice, I like it
  8. I'm searching for Indian instruments to sound like Shakta & Moonweed - Micronesia (1:04:56), I found MOTU Ethno Instrument 2, and the Roland SR-JV80-14 Asia sound board. Any other suggestion to have nice tablas and sitar?
  9. The NASA countdown "31 seconds and we're going for an auto-sequence start, here we go now" 10 seconds...4...3...2...Ignition! Not trancy but nice:
  10. That first tune... Nervasystem - Initiation... Oh, man, how many have I listened to it and will still do? It's highly addictive!! BTW, do you know what the guys says in the tune Planet BEN - Questionmark? I don't understand the lyrics...
  11. Hum...Doesn't an arpeggiator work in mono mode?...I'm puzzled
  12. What about arpeggios? Most synths provide nice built-in arpeggiators...Do you use them only to play around or do you use them for your final mixdown? If so, do you send the fixed notes from your DAW to your synth that forwards them to its own arpeggiator, that in return generates the arpeggio and renders the melodies? Of you you create the arpeggio strictly from inside your DAW, not making use of the synth built-in arpeggiator?
  13. I think it's the opposite, i.e. I think psychedelic trance is less likely to be a genre that makes use of an analog sequencer to create a full tune (compared to minimal techno music).
  14. Ah, right. Both effects are laser fx? (one shot vs. a series of shots)
  15. Hello, This famous SFX (1:53:40) can be as is, i.e. a series of short notes of the same pitch that come and go, or it can be only one with short decay (easily reproduceable with an analog synth such as an SH-101). Do you know the name of this SFX? (actually the two of them). I like this SFX
  16. Hum, but did they make full-fledged psychedelic trance tunes or just some sort of mnimal techno music?
  17. I guess people use these sequencers just to create melodies, to play around, to tinkle, but not to make tunes.
  18. Maybe his replies on this forum when some folks were harsh with the CD insert artwork of his album Ultimate Experience Reloaded. Maybe he's just straight-forward, dunno When it comes to making music, he's excellent, though!
  19. Wow, that's strong! Strong kick and snare drums! Thanks for sharing
