Famous overdriven pad
Goa Travellers replied to Goa Travellers's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Of course, and this is the purpose of a forum, sharing and discussing. I have spent most of my week-ends playing around with my synths over the last 15 years. So many combinations are possible. You have the rough idea how to achieve the sound you want, but it's almost impossible to reach the same sound. Sometimes, someone happens to know how to reach it, and sometimes there is actually a technique that you may not be aware of. For instance, in the beginning, when I began music, I didn't know how to create an acid sound. I just didn't have the right tool (a Roland E-86 rompler, no disto), and no one was there to tell me (back then, I didn't have the Internet). This is why I believe deeply in sharing knowledge. -

Hey...I've been learning since the mid 90's. I'm not a professional at all and I keep learning all the time, this is also why I ask for tips. Please be nice, if you don't want to help or if you don't know the exact answer, at least don't be arrogant. Keep cool. -

Thanks. My feeling is that there are so many old/new racks, synths, VSTIs that I feel dizy and can't concentrate on just a handful of them... -
Hello, Can you identify this overdriven pad used in a number of tunes by different artists? e.g. in Miranda - Anaesthetic or I love it! It looks like a VA pad with a VA disto effect! Any idea? From an Access Virus maybe? Thanks!

I would suggest buying more psychedelic feathers for the hat as well

Oh... Yes, I was obviously kidding, Simon Postford doesn't need a fundraising

Let's all raise money to buy our friend Simon a battery compartment lid for his SH-101 and to upgrade his Nord Lead to a v.3

Same for me! FM synthesis looks complicated for me. -

In theory, yes. FM synthesis is a tough topic. I wouldn't be able to create the same sound with another FM synth... -

Maybe it's a sample of a natural sound... -

I agree. And the 808 kick drum is close to a sine wave. That first tutorial was actually for the kick drum they use in "Astral way" (different from the one they use in "Full mental jackpot". We just need a click that matches the one they used. What do you think of the result I came up with? I used a GM wavetable wood percussion and an 808 kick drum. -

That's alright These are the two samples that I used for the kick drum: click.wav and 808.wav -

When I listen to the sampled kick drum, I hear another instrument in the background... -

neurogen, you have a bass line in the background... Once again, I tried combining a GM wavetable click sound with an 808 kick drum to have the click and the sine wave. I blended the whole ingredients in GoldWave and I got that (or that longer one) -

It sounds like 2 pieces of wood that you hit one another at regular intervals, one of them being hollow... -
