  1. I'm not trying to fool anybody. Why would I? I'm asking what you guys use more: sound samples or MIDI. No more than that. I use a little bit of both. What about you?
  2. What do you mean? Any kind of music should have good sound quality.
  3. hihihhi He's a green politician leader in France. He probably smokes pot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yves_Cochet
  4. My own technique is imagining I am in the middle of the crowd at a party and I imagine how the music can be. Then I try creating it. What's your technique(s)?
  5. There are so many sounds in goa-trance music tunes that you probably will never have any inputs on your mixing console. Main instruments are used with MIDI and the sequencer on the computer, but what about small sound effects here and there? Do you generate them using MIDI as well, or do you play them as sound samples?
  6. I've been 10 years away, and I'm about to go back to Europe to work, and to play electronic music again (goa trance, chillout and ambient). I left my instruments at a friend's attic, and he said they were still there the way I left them, wrapped in plastic with adhesive tape to protect from dust. I remember that I have pretty much all I need (TB-303, SH-101, JD-800, Z1, and a few more stuff). I still want to buy some second-hand stuff. I've seen that I can find inexpensive Juno 106 and ASR-10 on eBay. I need to buy a mixer, I remember Yamaha had a real nice one called 02R, what would you recommend? I need 48+ inputs. Also, I need 2 monitoring speakers + amplifier. Anything to recommend? I haven't kept up with the latest in the music industry. Are there some must-have synths? I used to read a magazine called "Keyboards", I searched on the web but there isn't any website... How can I keep up now, is there a web site that reviews the latest synths and other equipment? What about samplers? I have an old Akai that I'll probably sell to buy a more performant one. What do you suggest? Ok, now, regarding the trend, what do people like now? I remember that in the late 90's, goa-trance was rather popular. How is the scene now? I heard that artists such as Total Eclipse, Transwave, Kox Box are not anymore. Are there meetings of artists in Europe? Do people gather? How do you make contacts? I lost all my contacts. Does some one has the contact of an engineer called "Benjamin Ange" in Paris? (He installed an addon on my TB-303 and SH-101 to make the sound crispy). Are there web sites other than eBay to buy used instruments? I love second-hand vintage synths I'll have to buy a computer, do you suggest a mac or a pc? What software do you suggest? (I used to have Cubase XT). I'll have to get used to it again! I'll have to build my small studio in my new house. Are there guidelines for the sound quality such as the material chosen, the topology of the room, organization of the studio, etc...? Is it easy to make money with music like it was in the 90's? It seems the music industry is in crisis with the advent of the Internet and file sharing, etc... If there are French artists who would like to trade music instruments, sample CDs, share knowledge, or to meet, please get in touch with me! Thanks for all your replies
  7. I found this video on Youtube and I like the music that starts after 59 seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDym3FzZP9A Do you know what the name of the tune and artist is? Thanks!
  8. Thank you guys. I understand, you need to create afterwards. What kind of psychoactive agents do you suggest to start off?
  9. Thank you guys, but I guess you need to be at least conscient to use Cubase/Cakewalk, etc..., to store, there are things quite technical in this process, how is it possible under psychoactive agents?
  10. Is it possible to create goa trance music like Koxbox Stratosfearless without the help of a psychoactive agent? Please serious replies only
  11. Yes, I would definetly. The goal here is not making record companies mad
  12. The problem with existing web sites is that it is not possible to listen to the music. What if we put the eDonkey link for music discontinued, and a lo-fi music files for music available to order?
  13. Here's my suggestion: The web site will not hosted in a country that has copyright issues. Plus: If we do this project, there will be an easy way to enable/disable links to eDonkey or, an easy way to replace these links by links to lo-fi samples instead. But if the site becomes popular and people click the links "Order from T.I.P" for instance, and it helps selling CDs, it's going to be an a good achievement, won't it?
  14. In my country I don't have to worry about this It's not like is developped countries where it's risky to use P2P software.
  15. Yes but... I already have a huge amount of goa trance CDs at home that I have bought for the last 8 or 9 years, and since the beginning I have used Kazaa, Napster and now eDonkey 2000. I haven't bought my license of MS Windows, but I have given the same amount of money for victims of the tsunami disaster
  16. Thanks if there are people interested in this project, feel free to let me know in this thread, and let's see if we can get started
  17. It would be a distributed hosting among many goa fans, and they would host the mp3s with eDonkey 2000. I can convert my CDs to MP3, this will be quite a lot, I have music from the early Transwave and Total Eclipse. We can start and see how far we can go, but I'm sure if we join forces we can build a pretty good database Let's see if people are interested in this project... If there are enough people to get started, then it'll work fine, because other people will see the database grow and will want to participate as well... This was the idea: having an advanced search engine to take advantage of the database. Interesting point, I didn't think about it. It would be fair to remove the eDonkey links so that people buy the CDs rather than download it, better yet, put samples instead for these re-releases
  18. Yes, it's a pity, because they might have spent months to build this data base Having stats such as popularity, ranking, etc... would be excellent.
  19. The only way to do it is creating a team of volunteers. If we're, say, 20 members, and we add 3 new CDs per day, we could reach theorically more than 21,000 CDs in one year
  20. I know discogs, they've been online for quite some time now, but there is no way to listen to the music, and also there are not all artists...
  21. I have searched on the Internet, and I didn't find it. I'd like to create a huge data base / search engine with the maximum of artists and tunes organized by country, year, style, rank, popularity, etc... The data base would have as many artists and tunes as possible starting from the 90's to now. There would be also an eDonkey link for each tune to download the mp3, but there would be no mp3 available for tunes less than 1 year old, so that it doesn't prevent people from buying new releases. I think Goa Trance is an underground movement, but it's quite hard for newcomers to find good stuff. This would be excellent for people to discover Goa Trance, because above all it's about music, and it's important to have like an online museum that shows that much work has been done for more than 10 years now. I could start the project on my spare time and even host the project, but I'd need help to type the name of the artists along with information, releases, tunes, creating MP3s from original CDs, etc... If we all work together, would can have a pretty neat base of artists, we can also have a list of bedroom goa trance DJs. I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon. I hope you like the idea. I don't think this would slower disk sales, on the contrary, it might just create more interest. Ramesh.
