  1. Hello, I was listening to Koxbox - Too pure (starting from 5'53") where there is a synth or sort of bass that sounds a little bit like a square wave form, but it sound like it has more harmonics...The same sound is used by MFG on their Overload tune (starting from 0':13"). It looks like it's a square wave with high resonance but what else to make it sound like it? Any idea what kind of wave form this is, and how to recreate it on a vintage synth? Thanks,
  2. To make use of these digital inputs, you need external A/D converters between your synths and your audio interface. A little cumbersome IMO, but many studios do that because of the sound quality and because they have the place for the racks.
  3. Not that much. I bought a second-hand Alesis Midiverb 4 for 60 euros. There are lots of deals out there because people sell their old racks for VST effects.
  4. I guess you're right, but the effects and filters of your digital mixer more easily accessible, although you can add a surface control to your DAW and edit these settings in real time, including when recording automation. Other than that, I forgot to mention that latency can be circumvented because in your DAW you should have a per-track delay feature that offsets your tracks by a few milliseconds according to the latency of your audio interface. This calibration needs to be done just once. It can even be done automatically by the application for perfect accuracy and beat alignment accross the tracks when listening.
  5. A Yamaha digital mixer will be more expensive than a MOTU 24i/o interface. It is more convenient with the faders, and it has hum filters, though. What you could do also is buy a summing mixer, or a Roland M-240 or M-480 analog rack console.
  6. I'm not kidding I love the Strike Part 2 video and music. You look like an old-school kinda guy. Old is gold Please share your techniques when you have a chance
  7. @Satanic Electro: I'm a big fan of your music and videos. Lots of energy in your sounds and rhythms!
  8. Yeah, and you don't have the latency of daisy chaining.
  9. UX - Masters of the Universe UX - Pure intellect MFG - Overload By-pass Unit - Distorted frames
  10. Martian Arts: Glad to see you on this forum! Your messages on the Gearslutz forum have been greatly appreciated also! I love your curved rack support. Where did you buy it, any reference to find it on the Internet? Very convenient. You didn't tell us about the rest of your gear, such as computer, DAW, audio interface, mixer, keyboards, etc.
  11. If you plan to collect hardware synths, I suggest a MIDI interface with many outputs such as the MIDI Express 128. Second-hand it shouldn't be much more than €100. http://www.motu.com/products/midi/128
  12. Hi, do you know the name of the tune at 0:19:38? Thank you!

  14. Thanks. I checked out the Soundcloud page, and I loved the goa trance tunes. I'd love to hear about the techniques used to get such a good result (looks like the tunes you find on CDs, very well mixed and composed). Technique is key here.
  15. Thank you guys, you spoil me I love these tunes. GadgetG is good at what he does, I think this guy is from Canada, talented guy. The Orb, yeah, definitely excellent, reminds me of Future Sound of London. Awesome. The Mystery of the Yeti is an epic project with folks from TIP, Total Eclipse and Hallucinogen. I love it too. I knew the Mountain Goat tune, I like it, and I also enjoyed FFWD pretty much! Present for you:
