I had the same feedback from Belgian people who saw Talamasca 3 weeks ago. The last thing I heard from him was the "Back to Bach EP" which is totally along the lines of what you describe. I think people who listened to him in the XXth century are all disappointed by his music now. And of those who want loads of kicks and bass' club music with the illusion of being in a rave party get served correctly...

I heard the earliest versions some Pathfinder tracks up to one year ago. When we release soemthing, it always takes me a while to get hindsight, and at the same we know earlier than any other if the album is going to worn out over time. Well it doesn't. The first thing that strikes me is that Pathfinder has a much better production than Arcana. Second, the album is trickier, it's playing subtile games with you, as a listener, the scheme is much less obvious, less rough. Only that, makes the overall experience much nicer. Deeper now: The new uptempo tracks all have memorable-dreamlike melodies, the groove catches you and makes you trip faaaaaar above the clouds The remixes are stronger, Approaching Nibiru is now clearly a dancefloor killer! And the ambient tracks make a soft landing Sure if you're into super colourful explosive Goatrance, you should check Artifact303 or Portamento this year. But E-Mantra is something else: if you play Pathfinder to your date who's into Pop music, she won't run away....see what I mean? Trying to compare a rocket launch and a cocktail on a sealiner with sunglasses is kind of pointless. To me Pathfinder is not what some of you call Newschool. It's a kind of Goatrance we hadn't been listening to for a long time. You might want to brush up on Spectral or this for instance and realize you can travel far away without having your all your senses overstimulated Overall, a STUNNING ALBUM.

cd/psytrance madness is starting to kick in! 2 problems
mars replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
Personnally I sort cds by genre (Psy/Ambient/Everything else) and then sort Albums, then VA's, in alphabetical order. No more cd lost. As for the scratches, there shouldn't be any if you don't manipulate your cds. They don't deteriorate either, I mean, look: glass melts over hundreds of years (see the windows of old houses in Amsterdam), and plastic is supposed to be more stable. I have 20+ years cds and they're still perfect and play perfectly. However, if they are exposed to a lot of hot/cold temperatures, that might be a problem. Even when the Sun hits a window in your place and the cds are exposed one hour per day might hurt after a few years. But the biggest issue I saw several times, was with smoking people. It seems the smoke gets onto the cds over time and alter them. I don't smoke, but some friends have had issues like that. My 0.0.2$ -
WRT vinyls, I think Ukiro is a good pretender for the gold medal. For CDs, I heard Senobyte or Melancorypha were the biggest collectors.

In your opinion? Because I saw one of the movies he played in.

Honnestly, I believe Back to Space is one of the very best albums we released.

E-Mantra - Pathfinder (SUNCD23) - Suntrip Records

Valley of the Kings is not exactly Nitzo in my opinion, but that was the intent indeed, he told me.sq Clearly the sharp kick give the right impression. He made such a track because many fans asked him All the rest is E-Mantra as you know it on steroïds. Each track has a great tale to tell. I was sorry yesterday while making the samples that I was kinda breaking the story in pieces. When you listen to the whole album, you really get a magic story in 10 chapters As for the artwork, the point (I think) was to make something that recalled Arcana whilst having a modern touch. E-Mantra likes it, so do we. The release date is probably November 11th. -
Label: Suntrip Records Catalog : SUNCD23 Format: CD, Digital Country: Belgium Released: 2011 Style: Melodic Goa Trance / Downtempo Artwork By: DJ Zen Mastered By: Tim Schuldt Distributer: Arabesque 1. Pathfinder 2. Metamorphic Resonance 3. Dansul Ielelor (Neurosect Edit 2011) 4. Valley of the Kings 5. Above the Skies 6. Distant Signals 7. Afterglow 8. Approaching Nibiru (Eleusyn Rmx) 9. Deep Descent 10. If there is Nothing Some of you may have seen E-Mantra, aka Emanuel Carpus, in great parties this year, including Antaris project 2011, where he could showcase his new material! Well, we are now ready for a magical follow-up to “Arcana” with "Pathfinder"! The album starts with “Pathfinder” and “Metamorphic Resonance”, two deep entrancing tracks with a straight drive, which slide gently into dancefloor madness, with acidic twirls covered up by sweet enchanting melodies. In the second part of the album, melodies take the lead to give the tracks a highly hypnotic shape. A trippy remix of the anthem “Dansul Ielelor” is followed by “Valley of the Kings”, a hymn to euphoric eastern melodies, while “Distant Signals” and “Journey to Orion” make you dive into the deep mental side of E-Mantra. The turmoil of madness completes with a relentless acidic remix of Approaching Nibiru! The album closes on two deep, floating vibrant ambient masterpieces! If you are wondering how the E-Mantra sound evolved in the last two years, this is your chance! Get ready to be propelled into E-Mantra’s universe! At the time we're writing these lines, the album will be release in the first half of November, but you may now rush on the Pathfinder release page for the extracts

I also believe GoaTrance is now considered as a subgenre of all the Psychedelic (Trance) musics. However if you ask anyone on the street, he will tell you Goa is what Astral Projection or Hallucinogen did, whereas what GMS produced was Psy... That's because in the beginning (95-96), there was only GoaTrance. And later when guys like X-Dream or GMS introduced different recognizable styles (Minimal, FullOn, etc), there had to be a common denominator that got called Psycehdelic Trance. So depending on your "school" you might state (1)"Goa is a subgenre of Psy" OR just (2) "something next to it and completely different". I hope this clarifies. As for myself, if I consider (2), which is what the original poster had in mind, I'd say the father of Psy (and FullOn) was Absolum. I'd discussed that a few years ago very seriously with some artists and there were convergent opinions.
