  1. Extremely good news Mike. These new releases full of talented make me drool in advance
  2. Ban. This is no place for bullshit. See you in 3 months.
  3. Indeed, rubbish and bullshit is not accepted here or anywhere else on these forums.
  4. Imo It's nothing against you. And your english is understandable, although you should try to make shorter sentences and get fatser to the point. After rereading your initial post, I think people dont answer because they don't know what to answer. Is it a topic about Zodiac Youth or Elysium? Or about Zodiac Youth or the guys that remixed Zodiac Youth? You see? People are probably confused. They read "Zodiac Youth" as a title, and they are asked to react about Elysium. Simple as that. Also, I think not many people nowadays remember of Zodiac Youth's album. It was 10 years ago, many people here are 16-20... Now I will ttry to answer the question fro my point of view: Elysium has his own style, that I like a lot personally. There he remixed someone else's tracks, so he had to stick, somehow, to the original style. This is an obvious reason for the difference you're hilighting. As a real skilled musician, Elysium is able to adapt to "modulate" his style to fit certain needs.
  5. I don't know if you noticed, but one has to use typed words on a forum. We have here someone asking for a question, and he's maybe not in the know of the "common wording" people use to describe one type of music. He's using his own words, our duty is to understand and answer his questions. Not comment on the wording. Wording is accessory. buzzzman, karan129 and radi604, what you're commenting on here is rubbish and useless and will be discarded (at best) next time. If you have nothing constructive to say, just donn't hit the reply button. It will save your time & mine, some useless reading, and some harddisk space. Thank you.
  6. Yes and as said before, this place is not a place to argue. 3 people got on the verge of being banned in the last 48 hours.
  7. I thought you were gone Unikos. I like the "live and let live" approach, but it looks like many in the OffTopic mistook it with anarchy and relentless criticism. Let's compare with what's comparable: In an increasing number of forums, if your first post is related to something already explained in the FAQ, you get instantly banned. Not here right? To be honnest I don't like this kind of virtual autoracy. By barely moderating for years, it was quite a freedom you won't find in many other places. However, after years of experience with the OffTopic, I also came to the conclusion that, not only can't you just let people manage it by themselves, but education doesn't work either. Last time I tried this was 3 years ago. I complained the OffTopic was a mess and people should behave. Those who remember will also remember I ran into scores of criticism, was accused of dictatorship and such. This were already far too strong and misused words to qualify a still quite permissive policy. Recently, after the 1st hack we were about to recruit specific moderators for the OffTopic. Meaning that we didn't want it shut in the first place. We would have come back to the approach other forums use and I described before. However, there was the 2nd hack. Why spend so much energy and precious time where there are such risks? Sure, the decision to close the OffTopic is negative for its users, but it cuts the risks and hopefully guarantees the continuity of the main topic of these forums: Psytrance, and the other websites running on the same machine.
  8. No provocations please. And no answering to provocations please. This is no OffTopic here
  9. @ Unikos, you're being ridiculous wth an absurd reasoning. @ Late, I would also appreciate you wouldn't acuse persons involved into this discussion of lying. This kind of behavior do generate tensions as described in my initial post here http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=914419 Like FTP before, your arguing for the sake of arguing just stands by my position. On top of this you're both adding distorted arguments, and a lack of behavior. Removing the OffTopic is an attempt to free ourselves, and myself from ordeals as described in my post. Ok, I'll help you, look: I may have walked on my neighbor's shoe in the supermarket, and he may have resented me to the extent of searching what my interests were and hacking the server. Maybe it's also a complete random hack (there were 2 hacks btw). Well you have to know that you need a lot of motivation and knowledge to hack into a Debian server with a 12 chars root password... Anyway, judging by the fact that 5 out of the 6 websites put down were about Psytrance, I believe the person who did that didn't like psytrance a bit, but yet was involved into psynews in some way. Add to that the fact Psynews is the only of these 6 websites to have a community...<using my brain for 0.04 second>...See what I mean? A hacker doesn't operate only if the OffTopic is working. This is bogus. The Offtopic is removed because the root cause of the hack is likely to be the OffTopic. Do you undertsand when it's formulated like that or should I try harder? Now I would appreciate you leave this place, indeed. auf wiedersehen.
  10. Done. Please guys write me directly to have specific customization. I don't read psynews all day.
  11. RA - Other Self, I agree. But the year is not over: THIS will come soon! Oh and i've heard that the new Symphonix album kicks serious ass too.
  12. chmod stuff, Nemo. It should be fixed now. Thanks for your patience. Oh and I saw the site was super slow today, I increased the databases caches and all.
  13. Hi Yes there is a problem with Avatars, I'll fix it tonight. And there must be some database tuning issues, because the site was really slow one hour ago.
  14. You're being a perfect example of what I depicted, FTP. Thanks for standing by me Now, look: the OffTopic is closed, you won't change anything about it, no matter what you say. Is that clear enough? If you like Psytrance, FTP, you can stay. If you don't, or if you can't just open your eyes, please leave. Simple.
  15. Not in the best shape for the last 5 years, you mean! You're stating it's an excuse from me. I'm stating it's not an excuse. And an excuse for what anyway? For disliking garbage and fights? Naah if I really wanted to close it I'd have done it exactly 3 years ago (search back then what happened). If you knew me you'd know I hate politic bullshit. I believe what I said above.
  16. @RTP & Needle Ninja: This is bullshit, it may be a visitor login hacked from this visitors' computer, but in no way will it help providing ROOT access to the shell of the machine. This is completely another level. @ RAH, Late, FTP, buzzman and Malevol3nt: 1) I didn't especially want the OffTopic closed. Please reread my statement 2 pages above. 2) I don't agree (completely), closing the OffTopic is not what the hackers wanted. They just wanted a sarcastic revenge for some deserved frustration. It's a compulsive reaction from a probable young nerd or psychotic person who believes he's above everyone as he has the knowledge put run down a Debian server. Or maybe he wanted this to happen, in the sense that he knew that yet another hack attempt would get me very pissed off. So now everyone is punished because of them. It's like at school right? Like your teacher does when one pupil triggers the fire alarm. Aren't we more adults than that? Ok, bring the guy to me, I'll break his both legs, and then I'll agree to reopen the OffTopic. Deal? Else I've been running this place since 2000, I have enough experience to know that the "he knew that we knew that he knew that they knew that it would happend like that if he did that" is just RETHORIC. I deal with rethoric everyday at work and it NEVER brings anything good. I prefer REALISM! 3) I have no evidence of anything, I agree. BUT I know that when troubles happened, it was in the OffTopic, and when bans happened, it was in the OffTopic. So would there be a grudge, it would come from there. More to come in 4) 4) I have read your comments that it's going to destroy a part of the community, etc, and I AGREE! But you are really short of hindsight imo. You all present the OffTopic like a place full of responsible people who were discussing -sometimes- about some delicate subjects, and that it triggered -rarely- some tensions, but all the rest was just Walt Disney stories. Come on, back to reality! There have always been in the OffTopic, people criticizing everything, everytime, just for the sake of criticizing, and blaming everyone afterwards that their freedom of speech is not respected, etc. There have been people hiding behind their keyboards and looking for the slightest opportunity to over-analyze sentences and issue comments of suspicion degenrating into huge fights. There have been people that just posted a simple smiley or an useless comment in every thread. Ah it's not that easy, across the internet, you no longer see the same people as at work or at school, who have been more or less "formatted" the same as you, who are of the same age, with the approx the same social status, etc. It's much closer to a jungle of words. And many people are not wise enough to get some hindsight before posting some angry comment. Not even psynews moderators, not even me. But some keep on pushing till they are "right", till they have the last word, no matter what. And that's what happened here. 5) I am sorry, but as someone who did not paticipate in the OffTopic, I saw it a a place with 80% of unfirendliness and unuseful content. And its unsure atmosphere didn't attract me a single bit. Should I put the OffTopic back online, it would not have given anyone any lesson, it would continue just as before. Even with just the cultural/tech zones, they would be polluted immediately. I could bet 10000EUR on it right away! It won't change unless we do like with every forum place: a ) put up lots of superspecialized subforums (however psynews.org must stay mainly about music imo) or b ) assign galore very motivated moderators (and it came always so personal and tiresome here that it's always been a challenge to find mods active more than 6 months) 6) Beyond all that, my aim is to be freed from hack attempts -- That is be freed from people potentially having a grudge against psynews -- That is reducing the gap between people -- That is focusssing on the commont attraction point -- That is restrict to psychedelic trance. @Maelvol3nt only: If it continues, I'll make sure Suntrip gets through the problems in priority.
  17. Oh yes great!! Superb work (and good selections imo).
  18. I have read your coments. Yes the server was hacked. Actually someone managed somehow to get root access and started some bruteforce attacks towards other servers from there. I thought the server was secured, seems it wasn't... The server is in a server farm in Paris. The admins noticed something was wrong and turned it down...abruptly. There was actually no real aim at removing the content, but I thought it was the case at first, as the data drive was unmounted, which made it like some directories had been erased. We're talking here about psynews.org, psysurfeur.com, suntriprecords.com, filteria.com, and a couple of other non-psy sites. Since we decided to reinstall, that's shitloads of data (~45GB) to backup and restore later. I had recent backups of the sites, and the databases, but not psysrfeur's DVDs and videos. So, I have been trying and restoring the sites and the databases in the past days. And I managed to have more or less all back online today only. Who did that? I don't care but we've been thinking about it. Maybe this is absolutely not related to psynews at all. Maybe it is. I don't know yet, I have 1,5GB of logs to analyze with no guarantee of finding out anything. What if there is a relation? Suntrip, Psysurfeur, filteria have no "ennemies". Psynews has always been a place aimed at talking about music in a peaceful manner. The only reason why some people could have a grudge against us is they were banned. Bans happened because of trolling or bullshitting, and 99% of them were in the OffTopic. Just look back at the situation from my point of view: we got hacked in september. The whole forum system itself would deliver tojans to visitors. There had been recent tensions and angers on the OffTopic forum and it was agreed to shut it down for one month to put the pressure down. ...The next day the OffTopic is reopened, BANG, the server gets hacked and much more badly. Once, it can be a coincidence. Twice, I don't think so. I am sure some of you think this happened because the moderators, of what was left from them, were very harsh. I don't agree. The Offtopc could have been a cool place to speak about trends, politics, technology, philosophy, etc...But it had actually turned into a complete spam forum, which needed more control. Thus I trusted the moderators decisions completely. Some also think I had a heavy weight in the decisions. Wrong. I am no longer Psynews admin or even moderator. Since november 2005, I just happend to participate in some decisions, and remained the webmaster. I was the guy owning the name, the software licenses, and taking care of the server and sites and critical situations like this one. But you have to understand my priorities are elsewhere now. Back in 2000, I was a student and I had hours to spend fixing a server. Now I am 31, I have a wife, I have a life, I have a very demanding job, and I am enjoying very much running Suntrip as a second job with Anoebis. All these take a LOT of time aleady. I had planned something else for this week end. And I spent 30 hours fixing a danm server instead. This generates tensions...in REAL LIFE this time. There is something else I won't forgive: We are on the verge of releasing a new CD at Suntrip. We have lost a lot of visitors who were likely to listen/buy the release. That's a shame. As a webmaster and as the Suntrip CEO, I want to be freed from hack risks and downtimes like these. So I requested the definitive shutdown of the OffTopic forums. Yes, it is unfair for the 99.99% of the visitors that actually didn't hack this server. Let me be really clear: contrary to what you may think, I am not "against" the OffTopic. I created it myself years ago! Now I'm having it closed, and it's even kinda sad. There was indeed a project of recruiting moderators specifically for the OffTopic. This is no longer the case. And I might add that non-psytrance stuff, bullshit, or trolls on any forum as strongly discouraged. For more infos/comments, you can always write me here or at mars at psynews dot org Regards, fabien mars
  19. 2-minute samples are posted on our official release page ! http://www.suntriprecords.com/pages/releases/SUNCD11/ Sorry for not posting this page earlier but I was hoping to put our new website online before that (as current pages are static and ask for a lot ofo work)...which didn't happen yet. TBC.
  20. That's true that many artists only recognize "production" nowadays. Not the musical content. That's maybe because many off them just can't make music. Maybe I'm being very critic but......maybe not.
  21. Biodegradable and Procs, totally, yes.
  22. Definitely Hux Flux. Or, with full on, CPU's first album.
  23. You can't say you weren't warned. BANNED.
