  1. Draeke, feel free to contact us, I think Jos & I have a couple of good addresses and advice for you. Else you may read this too, check my replies: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=50244 Oh and it you wanna see the Etnica dudes, maybe just go to Aurora festival, Pleiadians play there (and we'll be there too).
  2. I am totally in love with Hol Bauman album on Ultimae. I hadn't had such a feeling since Shpongle's second album. http://www.discogs.com/release/1250180
  3. At the time goatrance.free.fr started, before psynews.org, reviewers were very dedicated, and much less people had the internet at home. Reviews were long and consistent. With time, more people came and just let a few words instead of a detailed review, sometimes even fought and started unrelated discussions. So definitely, my opinion is the review pages would be more "efficient" for a reader if only consistent reviews were left. Back in 2005 or 2006, we cleaned up a lot existing review pages with some tool I had programmed, but since, people kept on writing what they wanted. Problem is if you wanna wipe out every non-consistent review you have to define what is "consistent". Is it an overall review, a per-track review ? A review that's more than a number of words ? What if the writer doesn't really make a review but react intelligently to another review ? etc. Also removing some posts always raise concerns and complaints. This is a hard to acheive balance and Psynews, by will or necessity (lack of moderation most of the time) has always been quite relax with its members. In a summary, I agree with your point, but I see no real remedy. There was the psynews3 project I started which wouold have solved all this with the enforcement of defined rules controlled by the server itself, but I really am too short of time to continue on it for the moment. I restart once in a while, go further, stop, etc... I don't think subforums are needed. This would cause even more unneeded "noise" imo. About chat/talk/gossip, I think there are still some IRC channels up there. There are more modern tools at the moment (Twitter, etc)but dont count on me for this, no time. Why don't you study that subject yourself, summarizing tools and trends for this specific gossip/chat/talk matter and post your detailed concept and solutions here. Then we coould see how to implement that.
  4. Personally I have one week of vacation, no more, and I'll go to Aurora. All the moe as Filteria is playing there. The festival is new but organizers have already made parties in Greece. They are the http://www.psytrance.gr guys. Personally I hope they will list tickets sales points and give more information asap, but as for the rest I'm kinda confident
  5. It happened to me a lot between 1998 and 2001, I was studying in Paris, my friends wee in another city and people at school all hated psytrance. So I went alone, hitch hiking on the way and the return...
  6. I relistened to a vunch of EPs yesterday night (Colombian Netcktie EP, God is God EP, Joking Sphinx - Courty Plane EP and others), but the one which struck me the most is: Kailash - Higher EP Elysium and Prana together, wow, you can hear both guys influence, superb trip, superb tracks !!
  7. RA is back! Eight years after their first release, we are proud to present the second full album of the Norwegian duo Christer Borge-Lunde (ex Dimension 5, Electron Wave) and Lars Wedde Lind. We are proud at Suntrip to announce RA - 9th will be in the shelves in a little more than 2 weeks from now. And here are the 2 minute extracts. “9th” is a concentrate of eastern melodies, deep soundscapes and fantastic positive climaxes… Starting where “To Sirius” left off, “9th” upgrades the RA experience to an all-allegoric story, ranging from soft Ambient and downtempo Goa Trance to uplifting morning monsters ! Octagon and Expand Consciousness embody dreamlike acceleration/deceleration phases aside the Ambient maestrias of the Intro and Light Receiver. Ultima Energica, Spirit Complex and the massive Time Current are melodic stompers designed for the dancefloor, twirling layers over mind-melting rythmics ! Other Self, Transcendant and Predator are real athems to the Sun, the very definition of RA’s so special music, full of psychedelic highs and soundscape travelling. Story-telling at its best... Who wouldn’t like to start the summer in advance ? RA makes this dream come true ! Oh and...you can already preorder these jewels to our gentle order dwarf, and he'll be happy to put some brand new Suntrip stickers in the package to reward from your confidence
  8. Downhill - Silent City Electrypnose - Subliminal Melancholies
  9. More from the videogame/oldschool computer world Rinkadink - Marauder is from the videogame Speedball2 Logic Bomb - Extension is from the eXtension demo on Amiga by Pygmy Project
  10. The work is in progress. He moved and has some issues to deal with by the end of the year but he's back to work as far as I know. Since we have to manage things a little bit, we agreed on a "flexible" deadline before the end of the year. But we've never pushed him into finishing an album. Like RA. Like Filteria. Merr0w is more than able to deliver an awesome tracklist anyway, so we let him work and we know that the day he says he's ready, he's ready for sure !
  11. Official release date: may 16th ! Extract online at Arabesque: http://tinyurl.com/4rtdl2 Enjoy !!

  14. FYI the album is at the press and the complete page + extracts will be up within 1 week. I've lsitened to the album a bunch of times now and I must say it grows on you, deeply. Personnally I'm very very happy about it and we believe we're delivering 100% quality ! (we actually only release cds we believe in, you knew that didn't you ?)
  15. I've attended to a couple of shows like that. LOTS of music interrupted by: - Artists/labels interviews - New releases reviews/chatting - Some chronicle about what'up in your country or the world of psy (rumours, etc) - Parties planner and upcoming festivals for the summer - Psytrance on the internet (sites to watch out at the moment) - A debate about music styles or the future of the movement, the money around it, drugs, etc (but you have to prepare it carefully)
  16. There are rumours about WalMart contacting several Psytrance artists & labels, and interested in taking a participation in some. Trying relentlessly to reach Europe, while having a quite "retro" image here, WalMart has been looking for ways to get closer to younger generations. Of course they thought about music. I cannot reveal much at the moment, but WalMart is actually opening its first stores in Europe within the summer, and planning a huge advertisement campaign with sounds from famous Psytrance names, like GMS, Infected or Perplex ! They are also planning to settling joint ventures with several established labels like BNE or Phonokol and selling their releases in their supermarkets. The story doesnt tell if WalMart is gonna have mobiles shops at festival locations, for example. More details soon.
  17. This white box you're typing into is NOT a SMS/Texto interface and we won't tax you over 150 characters you know. So please people, make an effort and write real sentences, so that this forum remains pleasant to read.

  20. I already listened to psy when it was released and I dont remember of anyone mentioning 2 batches. I see no sticker on a friend's copy either. However my own Black Rhino is a promo (pressed, not burnt) but without a box, so it's obviously an early one but I can't check. Please, what exactly is the tracklist on yours, with the sticker ? And please also provide the [mm:ss] of these tracks, so we can see if there were actually one or 2 pressings.
  21. Here exactly: http://www.suntriprecords.com/media/releas...d05-artwork.zip About Opus Iridium, we received the cds, they look great !! Preorders are going fine and we've started shipping them, buyers in Europe will have them tomorrow, 2 days prior to release We made a small ambient party last week end where Anoebis played most of the CD2 tracks and the response was very good. Next week end is a big party in Antwerpen/Belgium with Afgin wo's also featured on the compilation and Anoebis will DJ the tracks of the CD1. We'll have a stand with our cds for sale as well. Look at the bottom of my signature, you'll find a nice banner for you to advertise us This benner is also on Saikosounds for one month.
  22. +1 To highlight what Nemo said, if you're part of such a group and are suspected to be sharing the groups releases on p2ps, then you're bound to be banned and your reputation ruined. These groups' point is a "try before buy" approach basically (which carries its part of hypocrisy i know), but releaes are meant to be shared in a serious and restrained community of people sharing these same views. Problem is some boards visitors propagate the releases on less serious ftp boards run by kiddies or non-serious people or are visited by non serious people and that's how these releases reach p2p's. This is fucked up. From my personal opinion, piracy is bad, but as long as you're a small label like mine, it helps getting known better. for bigger labels with a broader audience than Psytrance, releases are spread faster and wider and it harms the labels' businesses. There is a paradox but as far as I'm concerned I'm fine with that.
  23. I got the exact same a few months ago with some DVD that was unplayable. I complained to the guy I had bought it to on ebay who replied "not my fault, the cd was packaged isn't it ?"...well this was bullshit as the guy had obviously put another shrink wrap after he somehow damaged the dvd. Indeed, some stores happen to let some customers listen to the cds, and of course these cds end up getting scratched. Then if the store owner can either let that cd to a regardless buyer for a small price, OR knows how to do a shrink wrap. Then he'll repackage it and can pretend this is a factory issue if the buyer complains. Since I am producing cds, I can tell there ARE defects, but very very few. It happens the cd is badly pressed, but we're not talking about scratches, rather internal material defects. On our new compilation Opus Iridium, a couple of copies have too short covers too. We're talking about 1 or 2 over 1000 copies. My point is replication processes are really efficient nowadays, Scratches are unlikely to happen.
  24. There is a specific forum dedicated to these trades
