Thanks for the words Happyhorse. Right, before judging, LuBu maybe you should actually hear the NEW tracks. They're blowing me away, and it's hard to only surprise me away after 12 years of Psytrance. So you can imagine how far these go ! As usual our latest news are here: http://www.suntriprecords.com As usual a lot is being planned, but we are dependant on the artists who work at their rhythm. We're pretty sure 2008 will be a great year though. The new compilation is out main target at the moment. It's causing me some white hair but all is on the way of being sorted out.

Infected vs Astral vs Posford vs Cropcircles/Pleiadians
mars replied to Lu Bu's topic in General Psytrance
I think all the guyhs mentionned here represented between 1995 and 2000 different aspects of the Goa world, more or less trippy, more or less full on, more or less mystic. Posford was like tripping in the ether, Astral were like tripping on the sun, Infected were like tripping in a washing machine, Pleaidians were like tripping at lightspeed (in a washing machine launched from the ether towards the sun) As of 2008: - Infected have become commercial and look particularly bored on stage (and us too when we don't run away hearing Duvdev bad singing). But it would be easy for them to make themselves and us happy again....yes at some cost. Erez would have the potential to match the needs of good psy music in a side project for example. Does he want to now he's sitting on a pillow of cash ? - Astral are still more or less in shape, but it's hard for them to renew. It's normal after almost 20 years. I hope the new album will kick some ass though. - Crops are no more, new Pleiadians miss the point. Times changed. I think Max & Mauri should concentrate on making good Etnica stuff and not revive some myth. They have the potential to make mid-full-on/mid-prog supersweet stuff. But they have to get their head out of the water if you see what I mean. - Posford is the freshest one (least money/drugs/alcool influenced too). Makes good stuff with others, still plays the same tracks as 10 years ago live, the too few new ones are seriously boring...Listen to his interview on the Twisted DVD though: he keep distracted from making his own 3rd album. I think he's lying to himself and will never do it. Whatever as long as he keeps making inventive stuff. Beware of the Infected syndrome with the Shpongle project too ! As of 2008, I think only Posford will surprise us. Etnica and Astral hopefully, and Infected...no chance. -
I filtered too and I agree with Tatsu. I bought the same amount of cds as approximately every year. Some expected albums weren't as good as I thought, but there were also very good surprises. Younger Brother, Asura, Flooting Grooves, Trold, Arkanoydz, Logic Bomb, Cosmosis, Sync24, Pitch Hikers sounded all inventive and entertaining to me. However, as every year, the amount of filtering rose. I've never filtered so much. Dark stuff couldn't be badder...you never know but then it would need another name like "Necro Trance" and not being related to psy anymore. Whatever, some like it, it's my tastes I'm dealing with. My "worst psytrance of the year trophee" goes to the whole Dark movement.

Happy new year / Bonne année / Feliz año / Gelukkig nu jaar / Snovom godom / to all of you ! To me, 2007 saw a change in the Psytrance scene, somewhat like in 99: movements looking at each other, splitting, sorting, recomposing... The part of the Psy movement that amazed me the most was the Chill area, with solid labels driven by solid artists The most endendered one was surely Full On which is going more commercial, but on the non-vocal part of it there were very cool releases (Loud, Logic Bomb). Lots of new groups arrived, lots resurfaced, lots disappeared also... There's a lot of creativity -yes yes I believe it- all around the world, opening new roads in the style and some releases greatly showed it (Younger Brother, Solar Fields) Last summer was quite a shame regarding festivals. Still lots of cancellations, arrests, organization problems, non-showing artists, or unpaid artists, drugs, etc, etc...the window on our movement looks dirtier as ever. This lack of professionalism is negative on every aspect. Let's hope 2008 will see a curb into drug use, and the return of serious orgnizations. So, is 2008 the faceilft year for Psytrance ? Our movement is 13 years old now, it showed it can live long, please everyone make it live longer !!! Once again, happy new year, and best wishes from Psynews crew

Please read and respect these rules/guidelines before posting new reviews. HERE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REVIEWS. NOT SIMPLE COMMENTS, NOT DISCUSSIONS, BUT REVIEWS ! 1. Please use the appropriate release year before posting . If you're posting in a "multiple year" thread (ie. 2002 - 1998) then specify the release year in the thread title. 2. If you’re an artist / label that wants to promote a new release please use the “Promos” group and not this one! ANY promos found in the reviews section will be moved. 3. This section is for psytrance reviews and psytrance related genres reviews only! If you want to discuss the best releases this year, what albums should be considered “classics”, the reviews section layout, the quality of reviews, the latest Tool release, want to request a review, etc. etc., then please use the General or Off-Topic sections of the forum!!! This is intended for psytrance music and subgenres only so no reviews of parties or other music genres. A bigger tolerance will be allowed for old stuff (stuff released before 96) since back then there wasn't an "official definition" of psytrance. 4. BEFORE posting a new review, check if a review of the album hasn’t already been written. If it’s the case then write your review in the already existing thread and do NOT open a new one! Finding older topics should be easy, use the “Search” function: type part or the whole album title and don’t forget to limit the search to the subforum of the year you want to post in. If you're starting a new thread for a compilation then you should ALWAYS write the title under the format : "V/A - Name of comp". So that all the compilations will be easier to find. So do NOT start a topic with "VA" (no "/" between the V and the A) or "V/A :" (":" instead of "-"), "VA Name of Comp" (no "-" between the V/A and the name) etc. 5. When opening a new thread put the name of the album and artist in the topic title and make sure it doesn’t have any typos (or else the search function won’t work). If you made a mistake, you can easily re-edit the title by using the “Edit” button at the end of your post, if that function is not working, then report your topic to moderators asking to correct the typos. 6. Please say WHY you like/dislike an album and don’t write childish one-phrase reviews like “This is a killer release!! 10/10!” or “This sucks. 0/10”. Reviews like that are not very informative and don’t do much except annoy others who are looking for full reviews … Also, if you have received an album as a promo directly from the artist/label try not to be an ass-licker in the review… most of the time it shows and it’s VERY annoying not to mention that in the long run your credibility as an objective reviewer will be tarnished. 7. Personal grudges against artists or reviewers are not welcomed and will be deleted and might lead to moderation so try to use your brain before posting. If you have anything to say to the artist or another reviewer you can always PM (Private Message) or e-mail them. 8. It would be nice that whenever someone opens a new thread for a review they start with the full album stats (pic of the cover, track names, label, release date, etc.). 9. We advise and ask you not to write reviews for samples of releases. It's best if you post in the Reviews section after having listened to the whole release. Happy reviewing smile.gif and as always, suggestions are welcome (as long as you post them in this thread and don't open a new one) (Text written by Moni, just adding it to this subforum) /mars

VA - Opus Iridium [Suntrip Records / SUNCD10]
mars replied to mars's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
A couple of updates : MUSIC - Cosmic Silence is still working... - Merr0w had submitted some tracks that he had done aside of his album-making, but he's now putting a great effort on a track called I.T.E.R. Something between Chakra & EdiMis style and Etnica - Zeta Reticuli (!). Will it be finished on time ? Will it fit the rest of the compil ? We hope so - Ethereal guys are also working for us !!!! The extract was very enthusiasming. Deadlines are coming but we're trusting them. - Else we got some unreleased track from some older great group. Yet we prefer letting younger outsiders drive the story. ARTWORK The odds are that the front cover will be powered by the German artist Margot Schaefer, like with Apsara and Twist Dreams, so we're staying on the same artistic line http://www.margotschaefer.com Some of the inlay will be powered by Carlos Pardo, Franco-Chillan artist, friend of mine, and well known in the gaming/advertising/publishing circles. Check his website !!! http://www.m4de.com The booklet will be quite huge, so if some of you have some good double-page booklet artwork (240*120 mm) where it's possible to write some text, I'd be happy to receive your submissions until december 31st >> mars[at]suntriprecords[dot]com -
Thanks for the ideas

I got the answer from a Wikipedia admin: Psynews is some kind of media, and it's not "notable" enough to appear on wikipedia (or any blog could be you see). Let me quote the guy : A common misconception about Wikipedia articles is that all that's required is that something exist. In fact, the subject of a Wikipedia article must be notable. I believe the article in question was deleted because it did not assert notability -- the link is to the Wikipedia policy that defines this term as it's used here -- and did not provide verifiable references. In other words, what was needed was independent third-party sources, such as articles in magazines, newspapers, and reputable Web news sources (not blogs or forums, and not material generated by Psynews itself) that state that the site is notable -- and those third-party sources must be available to other Wikipedia editors who want to check on them, so there has to be enough information in the article to find them. SO if you guys have some relevant material to make psynews a "notable" website, then please provide it. I have some interview we did with some Canadian newspaper, and the Psychedelic sparks compilation. If you have other sources, PLEASE report them to me !!!

VA - Opus Iridium [Suntrip Records / SUNCD10]
mars replied to mars's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Thaks for the nice words Michael. As you can see we are still missing 3 tracks that will come in the following days. But instead of releasing in January at all costs we decided to postpone a bit our deadline and have a diamond-class tracklist. I added Aerosis to the tracklst in the announce because I'm now confident enough his track is gonna fit the compil. What are the last 2 tracks ? Héhéhéhé you'll see...and you'll be delighted. Michael, good luck, you'll make it (crossing fingers) !!! -
Liquid Flow - Goa Terminal "EP"
mars replied to soundmute's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Veeeery good stuff, excellent Goa vibes, I love it !!! -
After "Apsara" and "Twist Dreams", we really wanted to offer the psy scene, all these women and men who believe in Goa music, with a gift from the heart. But we also ever wanted to release an ambient compilation. And we HAD to do something for SUNCD10, right ? Not the usual yearly compilation, but much, much more. Let's unveil some : Called "OPUS IRIDIUM", it means "Rainbow Artwork" or "Artwork for the Rainbows", or even "Rainbow Crafted" in latin. There will be 2 CDs, first one Goa, second one Ambient. Inside: carefully selected tracks, and a nice booklet made by nice people with nice words about that nice music & people we all love. Here's the final tracklist: CD1 - Trance cd : 1. E-Mantra - Voyager II (Romenia) 2. Shakta - Ten Times Around the Sun (UK) 3. Filteria - Birds Lingva Franca (Sweden) 4. Artifact303 - Feelings (Romenia) 5. Ajna - The Art of Happiness (France) 6. Radical Distortion - The Dreamer (Greece) 7. Afgin - From The Heart (Tribute to Wonderboy) (Israel) 8. Ethereal - Moondawn (Sweden) CD2 - Ambient cd... which will be slightly mixed so there will be no silence in between the tracks 1. Mindsphere - Frozen Sleep (Turkey) 2. Solar Fields - Confusion Illusion Remix (Sweden) 3. Electrypnose - ChillinBerlin (Switzerland) 4. E-Mantra - Sectret Prophecy (Romenia) 5. Aes Dana - Lysistrata (France) 6. Asura - Altered State (France) 7. SiebZehn - Bongalore and Beyond (Germany) 8. Astral Waves - Contemplation (Canada) 9. Ra - Road To Shiraz (Norway) What do you think ? This will not be an "in your face" compilation, but some deep, emotional UFO, focused on peaceful vibes on the downtempo side, and trippy psychedelia on the uptempo side. Thanks to the artists for trusting us in this concept, know most of them wrote their track especially for this occasion. What ? Hmm ? Ah you want to order it ? Let me check the schedule....you should have it in your cd reader by the middle of march. More will come soon, espacially the complete tracklist and some yummy extracts on our website Short extracts are already available on Arabesque website: http://tinyurl.com/2fn8o9 2 minute extracts are available on our website: http://www.suntriprecords.com/pages/releases/SUNCD10/ Anoebis & Mars / Suntrip

And this track is bound to be released

There are strange coincidences.... Yesterday I helped the remaining Metapsychic guys distribute the Minsphere album online (album which is distributed for free because Metapsy was jeopardized before press time and because it was feared some people would ruin the *CD* release of the album, by -for example- spreading the wavs online). Well, so I said, I helped by offering some online space yesrterday night for one mirror. And today, our Suntrip mailbox is spammed like NEVER before. 50 times the usual amount. Maybe there is no connection, maybe there is, who knows ? So I'm wondering : is there anyone against me helping the Metapsy guys finishing their story in a decent way ?

Te la enviaré cuando te firmaremos un track, cabron. Trabajas ! trabajas !

I'm very sorry for that situation. Another Goa label bites the dust and not in the most subtile way, from what i've heard. And the worst is I(we) knew it would happen. I'll wait for the announcement, though. Also, as being part of another Goa label which was highly criticized, several times, by those who believed in everything Filipe said, I have hope that these persons will think twice. I'd have preferred another outcome, really, but I have to admit it might help everyone understand bits and pieces of the whole story. Now let's sincerely hope some good music will emerge out of this foreseen-popcorn-soap-opera.
