Please read and respect these rules/guidelines before posting new reviews. HERE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REVIEWS. NOT SIMPLE COMMENTS, NOT DISCUSSIONS, BUT REVIEWS ! 1. Please use the appropriate release year before posting . If you're posting in a "multiple year" thread (ie. 2002 - 1998) then specify the release year in the thread title. 2. If you’re an artist / label that wants to promote a new release please use the “Promos” group and not this one! ANY promos found in the reviews section will be moved. 3. This section is for psytrance reviews and psytrance related genres reviews only! If you want to discuss the best releases this year, what albums should be considered “classics”, the reviews section layout, the quality of reviews, the latest Tool release, want to request a review, etc. etc., then please use the General or Off-Topic sections of the forum!!! This is intended for psytrance music and subgenres only so no reviews of parties or other music genres. A bigger tolerance will be allowed for old stuff (stuff released before 96) since back then there wasn't an "official definition" of psytrance. 4. BEFORE posting a new review, check if a review of the album hasn’t already been written. If it’s the case then write your review in the already existing thread and do NOT open a new one! Finding older topics should be easy, use the “Search” function: type part or the whole album title and don’t forget to limit the search to the subforum of the year you want to post in. If you're starting a new thread for a compilation then you should ALWAYS write the title under the format : "V/A - Name of comp". So that all the compilations will be easier to find. So do NOT start a topic with "VA" (no "/" between the V and the A) or "V/A :" (":" instead of "-"), "VA Name of Comp" (no "-" between the V/A and the name) etc. 5. When opening a new thread put the name of the album and artist in the topic title and make sure it doesn’t have any typos (or else the search function won’t work). If you made a mistake, you can easily re-edit the title by using the “Edit” button at the end of your post, if that function is not working, then report your topic to moderators asking to correct the typos. 6. Please say WHY you like/dislike an album and don’t write childish one-phrase reviews like “This is a killer release!! 10/10!” or “This sucks. 0/10”. Reviews like that are not very informative and don’t do much except annoy others who are looking for full reviews … Also, if you have received an album as a promo directly from the artist/label try not to be an ass-licker in the review… most of the time it shows and it’s VERY annoying not to mention that in the long run your credibility as an objective reviewer will be tarnished. 7. Personal grudges against artists or reviewers are not welcomed and will be deleted and might lead to moderation so try to use your brain before posting. If you have anything to say to the artist or another reviewer you can always PM (Private Message) or e-mail them. 8. It would be nice that whenever someone opens a new thread for a review they start with the full album stats (pic of the cover, track names, label, release date, etc.). 9. We advise and ask you not to write reviews for samples of releases. It's best if you post in the Reviews section after having listened to the whole release. Happy reviewing and as always, suggestions are welcome (as long as you post them in this thread and don't open a new one)

I created 10 forums, 2000+ threads and 18000+ posts in the database tonight. Looooots of work and programming. This is now done ! yet not publicly visible There are probably a few duplicate releases with the existing ones and the new ones, so there will be a few more days of "merging" before all is set visible to all members.

Hi We're injecting the 2000 releases and 18000 reviews from the old site back to this board tonight, so the forum's gonna be very slow during approx 30 minutes if everything goes ok. If you notice it, please refrain from posting as much as possible so as not to suffocate more the database. Thanks.

I don't recognize as my reality what Lotus means. I'm not "the kind of guy"...he means. Oh for sure I won't stay in the same office doing the same fucking job all my life. No matter what you think I CANNOT find people to help me with Psynews 2. I called for help, I got one guy that never took contact again later....That's not I don't want help, that's I can't find it !!!! Whatever, everyone has its view on any subject, even the right to be freely negative about it, and if Lotus is unhappy by how we're trying to keep this place alive, he's free to leave for Sonic Energy or anything... Oh and by the way I forgot I don't have time to take care of Psynews, so I'd better leave right now, silly me.

No old fight, just free criticism.

Ahahah I feel the need to answer. Do YOU know how much time it takes to clean up 2020 static pages and 20000 embedded html reviews ? Do you seriously know ? Now we have some xml/html parsers and tools (which are not sufficient to do it without adaptation anyway), back then it would have been all by hand ! Yes Children wanted to do it, yes he disappeared, no i didn't do anything about that because I knew it would have been hell to do, and, as usually there would have been like max 2 ppl interested in working with me, thus dividing the amount of work by 3 (667 pages, 6667 reviews each...). It's easy to complain when you do nothing whereas I inherited of something I hadn't asked for ! I believe the old pages were the source of the november hack. I removed them and put them in one corner of my hard disk. Yet they had to be reintegrated. When ? When Psynews v2 is out at some uncertain date ? Thus deprive people from these reviews for an undetermined amount of time ? Well I had it in my todolist but DP recalled me that some weeks ago. So I coded a full app of thousands of lines of code, to be able to recover all those old reviews more or less automatically, and we spent a fucking huge amount of time parsing and sorting and editing all these old reviews. Personally, I read and sorted out the reviews of 1089 of the 2020 pages, that is 10000+ reviews, and i will also script like mad to reintegrate them all in this board AND make it well so that it won't be needed to re-parse all if it's needed to put them...elsewhere. This drives us to Psynews v2 : yes, I said and repeated 10 times I really wanted to do it, but didn't have the time to build and code this new system all alone. I tried to hire people, but the only ones who applied didn't know the right technos or ended up not having the time or the will either. This psynews new-look is a huge thing. LeLotusBleu, you, can you help me ? Are you a decent j2ee conceiver/programmer with lots of time ? Once again I cannot be a full orchestra myself. I have the motivation and abilities to conceive it, not the time to realize it. Once again everyone wants it, noone wants to work on it. And i won't sacrifice all my nights with that. Honnestly I happen to work on it, the database is done, some code too but that's a huge thing. If I ask now for helpers, wanna count the answers ? I have indeed other things in life besides : my girlfriend, the label, my career, demomaking, some company project, reading, going to the movies, etc... Some guys I know call me "Monsieur le Ministre", ok I admit I'm overbooked and I'm afraid I'm no longer a student full of time since 2002. But...are you entitled to call me *lazy* ? Well Psynews has quite a low priority in all that but i'm always available when needed : behind the scenes, I took care of the server maintenance, the domain names, the bandwidth, the administration of the webserver, mailserver, ftpserver, database, installation of a new board when we were flooded by Bruce, clean up of the spam and the spammers, took 2 full weeks rebuilding the system and securing all when it was hacked, was available every night to the mods to settle some things, etc... not posting doesn't mean not being active. Now, know this is not really a temporary system we have here. The old site itself was unsecure and removed, forever, i wont take the risk to bring it back. Sorry for those nostalgic of the old layout. So what we have here is a forum, only and NO site at all. That's what all we have when typing http://www.psynews.org. The forum should be only a part of the site, but the logic has switch in front of the needs and the forum is now partially used as a content management system to keep all the site data alive. When we have a new site, i'll put back the menu, ok ? Oh and about the ambiance, I think the problem is about really negative people here, not the mods who are endlessly comprehensive, and let many many things happen without saying anything. Do you guys really think you are refrained from posting with the stated rules that tell the least we can expect from responsible people ? If you, personnally, have problems with the mods team of one if its members, please don't take it as a general point. Bien le bonjour.

Well let's see the poll but we'd have 11 subforums anyway. Quite a lot. I don't know after all.

Oh we have here, all hot and bothered, the most active reviewer of the old days with Seraph (almost 400 reviews between dec 2001 and aug 2003) !!! I'm happy Hmm 1991-92-93-94 releases are really a few and I think we almost have them all currently. Some more figures : Grouping 1991-94 : 22 in total Grouping 1991-95 : 69 in total Grouping 1991-96 : 188 in total Nowadays there are 300-400 releases/year. Imo the best is to group 1991-95 to have something more balanced, although we could also separate 1995 in a distinct subforum because it's in 1995 that some massive releases "revealed" Goatrance and this aims at puttung a separation there .

Hi Before this Invision Board you had the old psynews and its hugs section of reviews. After the server hack in november i removed all these old pages, suspecting them to be a possible source of security risk. Well, they were missing since then. Not only that. The interviews too, the artists infos, and more stuff. With DeathPosture and Insejn, we reviewed the 2000+ old pages of releases and their reviews, cleaned up all the fights and insults on them, put them in a real database, and now they're ready to be reintegrated with their 18300 clean reviews (!!) in this board. But where ? We have releases back to 1991 (Overlords Sundown), so making a subforum / year would end up on 16 subforums in total, those from the early ages containing only a few. Look at this releases/year stats : 1991 : 1 1992 : 2 1993 : 3 1994 : 16 1995 : 47 1996 : 119 1997 : 151 1998 : 168 1999 : 207 2000 : 315 2001 : 381 2002 : 340 2003 : 254 So how do you guys think we should group them ? Please vote and/or put your "something else" opinion below. Thanks.
