Thos who claim i hacked Psynews myself are simply fools. I'm a sincere guy : if i had wanted to stop Psynews I'd have told it, and done it by pushing on a button in my basement. What's the point in hacking my own server, then spending hours trying to fix it after ? Nonsense. Else, it has nothing to do with the bans. You are banned because you're threatening the forum's peace, not because you tell a myth.

First I wrote what I thought was true & what was reported to me day after day. Sorry if it hurts. My mind hasn't changed about that. It's your problem if you felt targetted or if you cared about how i treated your fellows that kept spamming & fighting day after day. For, I was only disrespectful to the assholes that thought they could do anything here. I wrote them the same way they cared about the repeated messages i left. Just a way to show who's who. As the keeper of Psynews I wanted a minimum of good vibes. They wouldn't. Thanx they left.

I'll answer to a few things here : OffTopic is not closed forever and the 3000+ were not blocked forever. When i managed to put the forum back in order i didn't know if I had done it well enough so that it's stable. Will you make a hearth transplanted person run a 10000m the next day of its operation ??? Also, I wanted to see the effect on the people. Now I know what I wanted to know : the forum is stable and those who had something important to say said it. I'm currently setting up the mods, their rights, mailing list, etc...I'll restart the OffTopic just after. Be patient. Maybe when you wake up it will be open again About the rules, I really dont think they're hard. I can understand Sherlock left, but not because of this. Well, lots of other forums are more restrictive. Some rules are just there to prevent anything from happening, others are here to protect us towards the laws and I did my best to leave you as much freedom as possible. Forget Psynews as you knew it. What happened on the OffTopic, during the hack and then on IRC or Isratrance was far enough to close it forever. Now members have to apply the rules or leave. This is not so restrictive after all.

Hi everyone. After some heavy work, and 30 hours offline, the Psynews server is up again ! The threads & posts are those from 2 days ago However, the user base was totally destroyed so the users you'll find (and their emails & passwords & PMs) will be those from August 1st. All i could do is fix the posts count. You'll have to fix your avatars yourselves. If you created your accound after that date you'll have to recreate your account. Unfortunately, in the mean time, some of you were considered as harmful to the forums peace and will not be allowed to return. Don't mistake it with the fact that most 3000+ posters are blocked until some decisions are taken about new moderators and who shall handle what. Don't worry. The OffTopic forum is closed for a few days. I guess it's wiser. Some furious posters might go elsewhere like that... It will be decided soon about its future. That's good to get back to the point. I kinda agree with that. Also because we don't have a proper review system. If we add i guess the only things to avoid would be : - "nice/bad album." too short reviews. - fights & spam of course, including stuff like "full on is shit", you see. Else a 2-dimensional review system would be the best imo : for a chosen release you can review independently one after the other, or just react (comment) on some existing review. And Charlie's point is THE point. Because Psynews was basically a place to review including a forum (and not the contrary), that i never have the time to reprogram so that it's like it was in the good old times. Maybe one day...

No mp3 trading and such here. FYI, the 128kbps xing mp3s you may find were ripped by ME on a sunday of february 1999 in the center of France. During that week end I met one psytrance freak who had got (how?) one MD from Nomad and didn't really know what to do with it. He gave it to me, I had a MD player... I had heard these tracks during a totally wicked set by Max during some huge party in Paris back in june 1998, and knew their value, so when I saw the MD's tracklisting, believe me, i accepted it ! Parenthesis : that was this very set where Max was the last one playing at 10AM, after some atomization made of Xerox&Freeman, Elixir, SpaceCat, Hallucinogen, Oforia, Astral P, etc... To finish, he played CC's and Pleiadians enough to make people literally roll on the floor, to the extent that when one organizer took the microphone to say it was time to leave, people absolutely refused and asked for more, twice ! Eventually the organizers accepted to let people dance, tidied everything, and disconnected the soundsystem at the last moment. One of the best parties ever...souvenirs, souvenirs... Well so, back to feb 99. At that time I had a super shitty computer, and it was already a pain to encode in mp3s, I didn't bother about the quality back then. I ripped the tracks out of the MD, encoded them with Xing, and a few weeks later, I did some mistake or I don't know what but i uplaoded these tracks to some friend's ftp in NYC...and all spread. If you find Tetrahedron tracks on the net, it will be 99% of the time my shitty rip. But some people have the wav's on DATs or CDs (or MDs) of the full album and will of course never give them to you although the tracks are totally outdated. Imagine you find your dad's Converse shoes from the sities in your grand parents' attic. They are in mind condition. Will you give them to anyone or keep & wear them like a trophy ? Maybe you should ask Max Lanfranconi to show kindly give you his magic Dat bag full of unreleaseds & remixes ? Hmmm ?

I still can't believe it : The eagerly awaited new ESKIMO album BALLOONATIC is here. This will be the first cd in a 3 CD SET!! BALLOONATIC 2 will be released in November & BALLOONATIC 3 - COLLABORATIONS featuring Eskimo collaborations with some of the top names in trance, will be released early in the new year. Oh dear but he will stop at nothing (Sigma records neither) !!! Seriously he makes so much tracks in a row that he has to release them by the dozen. No wonder when you make the same track all along the year using ideas stolen from others. With some friend we already made the bet that it will be the same bassline & 145bpm in every track of the trilogy... To be objective i listened to it. Yes i did it. It deserves no more than 3 lines of reviewing. Basically i don't want to be hard on artists, but here, what strikes is not really the fact it's overheard full-on style all along. What strikes is it's so close to all his other tracks in every way, rhythmic, sounds, breaks, melodies, prodigy-rip, etc... The challenge is to give this overcooked thing a positive mark. Eventually i can't see the point. For the people, even for the artist. Ah yes keep the vibe around him...afaik i'd rather say the fud !

All right, i've already done this and i remember the results : Because i've tried, it is virtually ipossible to remake Psynews in php. So J2EE over a cool AppServer would be the solution. I need J2SE 5.0 (means java, generics-aware) programmers, using Eclipse 3.1, The framework used would be JSF 1.1, Hibernate 3, and lots Jakarta stuff, The platform would be Tomcat 5.5, Apache2, Mysql 4.1 Anyone ? A lot of stuff has already been done but i've stopped, i'm on other things (Suntrip for example). mars.
