  1. I think this album of California Sunshine is like its brothers: some old tracks, some remixes, some not interesting stuff all around and we have a great (useless) 2xCD! the Astral Projection syndrom ? good: there are some ideas, bad: the sound is out of date. If you don't know California sunshine: 5.5/10. If you know California Sunshine: 4/10.

    V/A - Download

V/A - Download Artist: Various Title: Download Label: 3D Vision Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'14" CRMB : Wonders 02. 07'16" Absolut Noise : What 03. 07'51" GMS Vs Manitu : The Vampire Strikes Back 04. 09'23" Wizzy Noise : Tripoid 05. 08'02" Absolum Vs Nomad : The Game Part 2 06. 08'19" Deedrah : Reload 07. 08'14" Bamboo Forest : Analyser 08. 07'58" Sonic Kinkies : Method Of Oria 09. 09'15" Yucatan : His Brain Has Gone Review: Alert: blockbuster here ! This is a great great compil ! 'Wonders' is a very very good fasttrack, perfect for psychedelic dancefloors. 'What' is an Absolum And Wizzy Noise production and it crashes your brain during the last minute. waw! 'The Vampire...' is a tune by GMS And DJ Saïdu/3DV. I'll learn you nothing if i say it looks like a GMS track plus the 3DV touch. The break is awesome! - This track rocks (grâve)!! 'Tripoid' is good if you don't know Wizzy Noise. Else there is no surprise since the track looks like another W-N track. 'The Game pt2' is typical Absolum stuff (boomboom-break-psychedelia), and if you like this style, you'll love this track for sure. A killer on parties. 'Reload' begins like a dream, then it blows your mind, and makes you happy. It's difficult to explain. The track is really 'different'. At the end you think you've heard everything from it and it still surprises you. Deedrah showed his expertise on this killer piece of music! 'Analyser' unrolls perfectly, climbs hard, breaks, kicks your face. 'Method of Oria' (notice the play on words) tells you Mr Dikovsky still exists. The track has the typical style And instruments we used to like. It's also deeper, especially near the end! 'His Brain has Gone' is a downtempo track. Just here to calm down. Nothing special to notice. Although this compil is a 3DV prod, it's not repetitive...that's good. My favourites are track s nr 6,3,1 but the other ones are really impressive too. Download is a good snapshot of what the mad guys from Paris-Ibiza-Thessaloniki are able of and you are urged to buy it. 8.5/10.
  3. This is oldschool, always the same style, but Space Tribe manages to remain 'in'. If you like this distorted fast wizzy style, that's for you. 7/10.
  4. To my mind this s too minimalist..by far! And there is nothing to enlight the songs. Der Dritte Raum disappointed me here. 4.5/10
  5. Rather good album. Full of good ideas. well. 7/10
  6. Reefer Decree - Dust / Mr Gecko Artist: Reefer Decree Title: Dust / Mr Gecko Label: Iboga Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Dust 02. Mr Gecko Review: Usually I don't like Reefer decree, but this time I was amazed. Mr Gecko is a minimalistic track at first, then it wears a funny bassline that drives all the tune. Amazing! after that it gets more usual, but the whole thing is ok. 7/10. Dust urges you to dance, climbs very well. the instruments are very well chosen, and the noises are set to maintain the pressure. Then the tracks changes its rhythm, and it becomes really psychedelic. The sounds are all made up of platic, and I can tell you the effect is good on the mind. 9/10 Overall: (7+9) = 8/10.
  7. Eat Static - Critical Mass Artist: Eat Static Title: Critical Mass Label: Atomic Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'32" Critical Mass 02. 08'13" Second Sight Review: Critical Mass is very dark, quick, not my cup of tea. Just all right for a minimalistic trance party! 3/10 (maybe more). second Sight (released on Serial Killaz / Atomic) is very industrial, the sounds are always very synthetic, plastic, and the result is good. 7/10 overall (7+3)/2 = 5/10
  8. Shiwa 2000 - Final Truth 2020 Artist: Shiwa 2000 Title: Final Truth 2020 Label: ESNE Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 05'17" Didgie Hero 02. 05'02" High Sie Zambo 03. 05'29" Merkababa 04. 04'52" Snif 05. 04'30" Lowmouse 06. 03'30" From Coffin To Coffin3 07. 07'27" Shame Your Ass 08. 04'37" Smaba 09. 05'08" Hoss In Space 10. 02'18" Atv Riupeloi 11. 04'18" Toetearer 12. 04'26" French Eyes 13. 03'49" Proton Baby Locks Ley 14. 04'25" Doublehit 15. 07'18" I Love My India Review: All styles of delirious music are presented here, except psytrance, i guess! That's fluffy, that means nothing, that is coarse. Of course, i won't buy this FastTracker2 crap either. 1/10 bye.

    V/A - Tsunami

V/A - Tsunami Artist: Various Title: Tsunami Label: Tsunami Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 06'26" Zorba : The Deep 02. 05'27" Chakra : Deliverance 03. 07'45" I-Zen : Voices 04. 07'52" Saiko-Pod : Magnetic Force 05. 05'16" Total Eclipse : Psychedelic Terrorist 06. 06'46" X-Dream : Aspirin 07. 08'28" Oforia : Special Offer 08. 08'27" Yahel : Reality 09. 07'42" Infected Mushroom : Symphonatic 10. 07'59" Morphem : Hypnotone Review: First the Zorba song is stomping but cool with great sequences in whiche the music gets some power. Ok song. Then Chakra offers a track that's not so good: big noise and voices around. Not good to my mind. Then a track by Erez Aizen (1/2 Infected Mushroom), that's a very little bit fluffy at the begining, then it becomes wicked ans twisted. Another Killer from Israel. Now we are going to Denmark to hear a good tune by Saiko Pod. I can't deny this is Ok for a dancefloor. Pure Franck'e style! GOOD! At first sight you may think the Psychedelic Terrorist is a very fast Jungle/Break Beat track, but after 90 seconds you get maaaaaad with this pure absolute KILLER of the mind! Hang on, this is true, this is terror! If you escape this, you are driven to the next track. Indeed, get immediately some Aspirin because X-Dream have created the most fat rhythm+bass in the world. the track whants to be slow, but it's very interesting as noone hasmade such a strange psychedelic trance track before (is this psychedelic?). It's ok for you but you head might implode. If you escape the XD factory you will return to Israël where Ofer has watched a lot of old science fiction movies. The track is full of funny "mars attacks"-like noises. It's also fast, superb work on drums, bass and rhythmic. Of course you won't avoid the usual sequence in he middle of the track of Ofer. I'd like to see the result over a dancefloor... Yahel has composed a track that fast, sometimes cheesy. Just like always: the track would have needed some additional work not to sound so cheesy in the second part. But this is Yahel's work. now we are used to it. .....Now, prépare your best psychedelic shoes (no, the others best ones because the very best ones have been destroyed during the Total Eclipse track)! Breathe...again...calm...ok?...let's go! Symphonatic is -for sure- a little bit cheesy somtimes... But try not to dance over this and you'll see it's really difficult. I heard this during an IM live, and the girl next to me almost had an orgasm. This is full full on, no-compromise pure psychedelic killer. Don't resist, they are too strong. Hypnotone, at least, helps you to find back reality. This is still a good stomping track, a bit modified here, and i really like it a lot. Overall, I can say the tracks are very good, there are absolute killers in this compil, but i also have a little criticism to add: the styles are too different. That's too hard to quit X-Dream and start with Oforia, for example... This happens at least 3 times in this compil. so my advice is to cut the thing, and make your own compil out of the separate tracks. 7.5/10
  10. The music itself is good, i agree with the guys on the top, but...This album has THE big illness of the year 2000: It is all the same after the second track. too bad. 5.5/10.

    V/A - In My Brain

Everything is very very good. I have the same opinion as above and i also think the Infected track is too trancey. The only point in which i don't share the views with l.secchinatto is the Spirallianz track. All right, it is different from the rest of the compil but it's a pure pure Killer (although i dont like Spirallianz!!!). It's power! Call the ambulances right now, we are gifted with very good work from everywhere this autumn.
  12. Parasence - Krakakot / Birdday Artist: Parasence Title: Krakakot / Birdday Label: Totsu Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 09'40" Krakakot 02. 08'23" Birdday Review: Krakakot looks like it's a drunk track: clear but going inside out...hard to explain. The thing consists in rhythm and ghosts rumours in the begining, then there are strange wobbling melodies And sounds (like GMS' ones). The music itself looks like a gimmick. I think you can feel the result if you drink 1 bottle of vodka and listen to a GMS track. Good track. 7/10. During 90 seconds, Birdday is a bit disappointing, then it reveals itself: fast, no-compromise-bassline, military ambiance, uplifting rhythm, and so on...madness? Maybe it needed to be worked on a little more, after all because it's too agressive. 7/10. They are mad, they are from Russia, they kill us on their live acts, and they're still insisting... So they get 7/10 for the whole delirium.

    Shakta - Kick The Baby

Shakta - Kick The Baby Artist: Shakta Title: Kick The Baby Label: Psychic Deli Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'45" Kick The Baby 02. 07'35" 3rd Stone Review: Kick the baby is quite slow, and relaxing, in the begining. In the second half of the tune, it becomes harder, and sometimes, wicked sounds come over other strange sounds. there are many surprises in this track...a good compo indeed, but...there's a little thing missing. I don't know what 5/10 for this one. 3rd Stone really looks like a Shakta track, very rhythmic, distorted sounds everywhere...in the begining. Then it becomes dark And scary during the break...you try to imagine what's going to happen...then it restarts and drives you mad out of psychedelia! Warning: party killer. 9/10. Eventually, (5+9)/2 = 7/10 overall.

    Dark Soho - Sun Spot

Dark Soho - Sun Spot Artist: Dark Soho Title: Sun Spot Label: Sphere Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'31" Unusual Ceremony 02. 07'08" Uine Saracomm 03. 08'13" Supernova 04. 07'20" From Beyond 05. 07'34" Depth Of Emotion 06. 07'28" Tales Of Tragedy 07. 07'50" Suckobus 08. 07'05" Sleep Walking 09. 07'26" Gothic Prayer Review: The long awaited album of the furious isra-helli Zeev, Boxer, And Rizzo is here to catch your soul. Unusual Ceremony is very calm in te beginging, then it begins to accelerate, and starts to pump on your brain after 4 minutes. That's a strange voodoo track, with guitars and a rhythm you can only like. Uine Saracomm is a strong piece of music, hard And dark. Its background is repetitive and the top level layers were taken from the grave. There is a big break, and after, it's a mix between scary melodies+voices, and very twisted sounds. Supernova is a more conventional track with no compromise. The whole tracks doesn't leave you any breathing space! (A true machinegun in a trench warfare). Some psychedelic sounds also slip over the rest of the music. From beyond is also very dark. It consists mainly in a fat And fast rhythm. Not really interesting except the way the breaks tend to surprise people. Depth of Emotion is very energetic, with a big rhythm and strange sounds all over during the first 4 minutes. Then the guitars come again with their gruesome melody that repearts all the time. There is a different rhythmic and the track gets wicked And scary with all those phantom voices everywhere...aaaah! Tales of Tragedy has -once again- sounds that summon all the graveyards around, over a very repetitive rhythm. Not bad, but not my favourite track either. Suckobus is certainly what you want to compose whe you see horror movies! At first, the track is like an angry thing, not really psychedelic; then it unrolls and the music takes you... At the end, distorted dark scratchy sounds want to gain possession of your body and get it to dance... sleep Walking: again the same recipe: rhythm and soulburning sounds in the first half. the second half is full of gurgling sounds. It looks a bit like a Sandman track. Gothic Prayer is, to my mind, the best track in this album: it looks like some Delta track. The rhythm is such that you -must- dance. the bassline gets through you, and the sounds makes your spin to chill. At last, there is a neverending tiny melody over that. I'm sure Dark Soho wants to hypnotize people with this track. You, who think that some composers are non-human , you are right. You, who always think the best groups come from space, you are wrong. Excellence can also come from the land of the Dead! You, who like rhythmic things that mean something, go to the local graveyard to get this album...9/10.

    Yahel - Waves Of Sound

Yahel - Waves Of Sound Artist: Yahel Title: Waves Of Sound Label: HOM-Mega Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'42" Going Up (Trance Mix) 02. 09'38" Waves Of Sound 03. 10'09" The Only Way 04. 07'31" Sun Scream 05. 07'46" Deep Feelings 06. 08'19" DNA 07. 08'31" Strange Emotion 08. 08'05" Last Man In The Universe 09. 06'56" Intelligent Life 10. 04'11" For The People (Radio Edit) Review: This is the second album of Yahel Sherman, this time on Hom Mega records. Yahel has improved in some ways and is the same in others, when you compare this album with the former one. -There are very good ideas everywhere. Really good vibes on some tracks. -The collaborations with Goblin and Erez Aizen are successful (tracks 1, 2, 10) -The tracks 2 And 10 have been modified but are still ok -The melodies are very good, but still a bit cheesy and repetitive...and some tracks look a bit the same. too bad. -The instruments are exactly the same as in "For the People"... In fact this is a very good album, and some tracks would be pure killers if they were a bit less cheesy...indeed, sometimes we have karahana sounds, a bit like Astral Projection ones, you know (that's especially for track 1. Sorry for the comparison). If yahel releases a 3rd album, i think it will be really excellent as he's improved, and i'm sure he'll improve again. My favourite tracks: 2,4,5,7,8. Overall, the music is here - that's the most important. 7/10 - like his brother.
  16. Absolum Vs Nomad - The Game Artist: Absolum Vs Nomad Title: The Game Label: 3D Vision Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'00" The Game Part 1 02. 08'00" The Game Part 2 Review: Christof & DJ Maël "strike" again with this EP. Once again the job is great, the thing really aims at getting you to dance...ok. The style is - AS USUAL -, big fast rhythm, great bassline, psychedelic wizzy sounds, and maybe a bit darker. ok again. This is well done, everything is really good, but there is no imagination: we have exactly the same thing AS USUAL: a long intro, a relaxing break, and a wild second part...sorry. I just feel i've listened to the same tunes from Christof (maybe not his friends) for one whole year! Enough !!! That's really hard to say as - I do repeat it - this is a good EP, but just listen to any tune of Christof done in 99 or 2000, and you definitely don't have to buy this vinyl. Even those 2 tracks look the same, have the same name and the same length!!! Too bad as i'm sure the 3D Vision guys can do excellent original things. If you dont know 3D vision prods: 8/10. If you know 3D Vision prods: 4/10
  17. I don't like it...this album is too boring all along. there is no mystery inside imo. 4/10
  18. Goa Gil - Mixed Live In Goa Artist: Goa Gil Title: Mixed Live In Goa Label: No Label Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 42'45" Sound (1 of 5 side A) 02. 40'53" Sound (1 of 5 side 03. 44'19" Sacrament (2 of 5 side A) 04. 44'22" Sacrament (2 of 5 side 05. 47'39" Surrender (3 of 5 side A) 06. 43'26" Surrender (3 of 5 side 07. 43'48" Spirit (4 of 5 side A) 08. 44'57" Spirit (4 of 5 side 09. 44'25" Source (5 of 5 side A) 10. 44'33" Source (5 of 5 side Review: This review is unusual as this is a mix that lasts for 7h21 !! THE STORY: Usually Goa Gil officially releases a big set, recorded live, every year. Those mixes can only be found on tapes. If you're from Europe, you'll probably have difficulties in finding them. If you're interested, i can tell you we (thanks Kunani, Zack And Damien) found the tapes in San Francisco - Goa Gil's city - at Frequency 8 shop . See shops section. THE MIX: So! Let's talk about music now. The set itself is....average...but this is Gil's style, you know. Only him doesn't know that it's nearly impossible to mix DATs while the track is still at its highest point (remember the Spiritual Trance series? - same thing!). So don't expect a glorious mix, but "a Goa Gil mix" and of course, who could mix correctly during more than 7 hours? THE MUSIC: The tracks temselves are...Great! Gil played there all his new tracks, or the tracks that could make poeple to dance...so the result is very good. All along the tapes, you realize that the style evolves as the night unrolls. So all possible definitions of psychedelic trance are studied here, for everyone's pleaure. No-one forgotten. THE ANALYSIS: While listening, I could say that I knew nearly every track...of course the tracks are all released now, but in March 2000, it wasn't the case for most of them...imagine the party people had during this Goa Gil performance! I noticed tracks by the Yeti project, Hux Flux, Absolum, Xenomorph, Tripiatrik, PsySex, Psychaos, Etnica, Atmos, Logic Bomb, Mindfield, Cydonia, Talamasca, Phreaky, GMS, Oforia, and many many others during the performance. At the begining, the set is ambient, them comes the rhythm, then the set is more And more crazy. At the "middle of the night", it's totally wicked! then there are strong morning tracks, to make people dance, but not become mad.....eventually there are soft tracks at the end of the side B of the last tape....and the music ends....and...and...at the very end i heard: Psycho remix by Infected Mushroom! THE VERDICT: So, killing people like that should be forbidden ! Gil is definitely insane and deserves 8/10 for this awesome night-mix, the quantity and the quality of the played artists.
  19. It kicks hard....the first time I heard those tracks, it was at a party in Ibiza under the lighthouse....rhaaaaa people would turn insane...8/10
  20. A very good gathering of tracks. No track is bad, the remixes are amazing, 2 cds full of awesome tracks. When you think so many artists fill their cd with 3 good tracks And 6 other craps, you can imagine how good it is to have 20 good tracks here !!!! This album really deserves 8/10
  21. mmmh not bad...but not as enthousiastic as Anoebis.
  22. Very good work. The texture of all the tracks look a bit the same because the synths at 3D vision have obviously all their buttons blocked since 1 year, but Lestat, Eli And their friends have done an excellent job on all the tracks and the result is amazing. Every guy who's been to a Party around Paris in the last months has heard all those tracks a thousand times...but w.t.f !! This is good! 8.5/10. bravo.
  23. Very good album...but 2 remarks: 1 - Did a guy from Logic Bomb compose the original track eXtension and remixed it, or is it just a fake of eXtension / Pigmy Projects ??? (for those who know, you recognize the melody immediately) 2 - When an album is released, a guy of the record company should listen to the master at least once before engraving all the copies....too bad for the last track. favourites: 1,3,7,9, and overall 8/10
