If you like the Yumade tribe, that's for you. The whole compilation is kinda minimal/noisy/wobbling. For a V.A cd, it just needed to be more V !!

mmmh yes I agree but something's going wrong... He definitely can do better. 7/10 to MiLoonyUm, 3/10 to LSD remix

V/A - Alien Nation Artist: Various Title: Alien Nation Label: Agitato Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'46" Mental Orange Vs Luminus : No More Nightmares 02. 07'31" Indica Feat RG And Blue : 1960 03. 07'05" Mental Orange : 2000000 Miles On A Flame 04. 07'11" Indica : Drug Teller 05. 09'51" Possessed : Dirty Chemical 06. 07'29" Possessed : Soul Saver 07. 07'11" Indica : Scream 08. 08'39" Luminus : Galaxy To Galaxy Review: A disappointing compil. When you listen to it the first time, it sounds good but after three listenings its really boring. Actually this compil tends to be cheesy sometimes and the compil itself isnt very good. It could have been far better actually as there are very good ideas sometimes. If you like the Luminus style, this compil is for you, but it doesnt look like some real pro-work after all. Too bad for us. 5/10 (maybe less).

Toires - Oued Artist: Toires Title: Oued Label: Total Eclipse Recordings Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 06'06" Lelital (Toires Rmx) 02. 01'31" Abir 03. 05'03" Barmanu (Black Eyed) 04. 06'09" Honey Moon In Africa 3 05. 04'09" Azif Laile 06. 05'15" Smoking Gun 07. 04'02" Tali (Out Of The Solar System) 08. 08'43" Kia 09. 07'07" Menara 10. 03'32" Nafas Al Ayat Review: I have seen Toires live several times with his musicians, his singer and his dancers...This second album gives you a taste of what it can be. For those who still dont know Florient Seriot, he's been working on other projects before releasing his ambient tracks under the name of Toires. The tracks are always very well done, very trippy, with a lot of imagination. everything in this album is very well balanced, you can fell the Maroccan roots of the artist as the music and the lyrics seem to come from the north of africa. A pure good good trip. there are so many feelings into this music, and you're surprised everytime with such an imagination.... If you like Ambient, don't hesitate, you cant miss it. 8/10. warning: beware if you want to order the album because fake copies are turning around!!

Unidentified Forms Of Sound 2 - Psychological Disorder Artist: Unidentified Forms Of Sound 2 Title: Psychological Disorder Label: BNE Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'09" Future Prophecy : Future Cop 02. 08'27" Psysex : Survival Kit 03. 07'52" Infected Mushroom : Anyone Else But Me 04. 08'11" Gorlation Corporation : Plastic Zeus 05. 07'09" BLT And Psycraft : Beat Manifesto 06. 07'20" Space Cat : Deep Rising 07. 07'28" Maskalin : Way Of Life 08. 06'18" Sinister Funk : Jungle Funk 09. 07'54" Oforia Feat D-Groovy : Paradise Of Silence Review: This compil is a bit less cheesy than its elder sister. track 1: It souns a bit like some dream music in some way. Not my cup of tea but not bad anyway. track 2: This PsySex track is rather mental...same remark as the Future prophecy... track 3: Now we get into very serious things. The IMs have built a true killer track. Sometimes you think you're in Heaven, sometimes you think you're into Hell !!! there are alternative calm and very psychedelic patterns. You can't help to dance! track 4: At the begining this is a very dark And rhythmic track. Then it becomes more regular and the melody starts. It's very uplifting. The sounds go through you ears and it's ok for your mind. track 5: a track filled with various sounds. you can recognize the style of the two groups, but the result could have been better.. ok it's not so bad, on the contrary ! track 6: Beware, he's back in the compils: Space Cat delivers us a very intelligent track, full of emotions. It's really well done and keeps you high all along. track 7: this is a good track, nothing to add track 8: a psychedelic-funk tune. It's amazing as it's very fast in the middle and remains funky! track 9: This is is cool And repetitive but not the best of Oforia. For your home-listening only i think. Overall this compil looks like some IsrAliens one. Globally it's worth it. 7/10.

It looks like the older album they did in 97. It is quite cheesy in some parts, and the tracks look the same... I love the Z principle (track 6). Ok for you if you like melodic trance that is not ptzatzot. 6/10

GMS Vs Systembusters - GMS Vs Systembusters Artist: GMS Vs Systembusters Title: GMS Vs Systembusters Label: Spun Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 06'32" GMS : Arabian Nights On Mescaline 02. 07'28" GMS : Snorkelblaster (Rmx) 03. 06'55" GMS : Bugs Life 04. 07'13" Systembusters : Square Wave 05. 07'59" Systembusters : Boiled Gravy 06. 07'24" GMS : Lumberjack (Rmx) 07. 08'12" GMS : Slingshot 08. 06'54" Systembusters : Star Wars 09. 06'31" Systembusters : Digital Self 10. 08'11" GMS : Joke's On You Review: What to say when there is nothing to say but buy this marvellous album? If you've seen the GMS in the past months, you should know all those tracks. Nearly all of them are true killers! track 1: you take off immediately. this is twisted to hell, perfect. track 2: you (mad people) thought Snorkel Blaster wasn't enough? You're now rewarded, as this is the remix, probably written out of madness. it's a total success and if you survive to this one you can probably listen to the... track 3: a very fastrack twisting on itself all the time. this is a balance between what's soft and what's hard in GMS. Want more? ok now you are faced with... track 4: if you like to jump like a rabbit this is for you. This track is dark And in the last minute you wonder wether the Systembusters want to grab your life or not (!) track 5: really not my favourite track... maybe the black sheep of the album.. no spirit in this track. track 6: another remix And another success. the only thing i could find to criticize is that this track is written on the same model as track 3, so they look a bit the same. track 7: Slingshot is in fact a remix of the Caterpillar (see the Growly Family tracklisting). The rythms have been reworked to trigger a better effect on the dancer. track 8: Here is the movie reference the Systembusters have composed and put in this album this time. The track is based on the Imperial March from Star Wars. Several themes And sounds of the movie have been included, and the result sounds really good. I think this track will get old soon but it managed to makes us laugh on the dancefloors (especially when Riktam And Bansi fight with their lightsabers behind their synths). track 9: a typical GMS/systembusters track, with many strange noises over a fast And trippy rhythm.. not bad at all. track 10: a track made up of metal (strange effect in your ears) & plastic (the wobbling instruments) to allow you to calm down. It's really wiser than the other tunes in this album...and always those GMS sounds... Globally this album is by far superior to the first two GMS albums. That's a really good work that deserves 9/10.

A very good album, lots of twisted sounds, layers, mindkicking melodies, excellent grooves And breaks. Dont mind if its old or not, that's good. 8/10.
-
This compil is very good to my mind. One of the best AFR compils...tho its old now. my favourites: 2,5,7,8,10. 5 And 8 are really the best. The whole compil is rather psychedelic And dark and the groove is still up ot date. 8/10

Etnica - Hell's Kitchen / Trip Tonight Remix Artist: Etnica Title: Hell's Kitchen / Trip Tonight Remix Label: MDMT Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Hell's Kitchen 02. Trip Tonight Remix Review: Here it is!! I know you've been asking to all DJs And people you know for since 99 summer, since you heard those tracks during an Etnica live somewhere, and nobody never wanted to give them to you....you nearly turned mad during this year..."will i ever get this Trip Tonight remix?"...and eventually you dont have to look for unreleased of those (my own case? no....), they are simply on a vinyl in your favourite record shop !! Thanks MDMA!! Now the review : The style of this EP is closer to the Juggeling Alchemists & Alien Protein than Equator. Etnica are providing us with their oldschool style. like it or not, but its definitely different from Mindaltering Drugs / the Dominator EP Hell's Kitchen (played live by Etnica some time ago) is - to my mind - absolutely fantastic: not really fast, a bit repetitive, but so well done, so bewitching..so everything. the melody, the noises, the rhythm, the whole groove are good. Its a typical Etnica track, just twisted the good way, and a bit darker....It's just trippy to Hell !!! It's GOOD, that's all. Trip Tonight, remix of Trip Tonite on Alien Protein looks like its elder brother but more dancefloor oriented...you can regognize everything, and this remix was certainly worked on for ages before getting this pure mindfucking masterpiece. Its a long effective trip full of many tricks, well chosen noises, and mindbending evolutions And breaks. everything urges you to dance on it....rhaa hard to describe: If you never heard this before, you had better be in my shoes while I heard it the first time: Avi Algranati was playing it, people were nearly flying over the dancefloor! All was thought about: the track surprises you all along, and beware this break near the end: you might be mindshocked! If i had to compare this EP to another I could say that this is the true brother of Vimana/Plastic EP as it's the same style we oldschoolers love, the same quality (perfect), the same trip....Thanks ETNICA 10/10.
-
Yes. It's at the very limit of Ptzatzot! Very psychedelic And melodic...composed with Impulse Tracker I think. It's not bad, but...it needeed a little more work. Children is right: sometimes the tracks go wrong...i hate track 1. 7/10 but decreasing at each listening
-
Too cheesy for me. Tho I think this must be a really good album for ppl that love melodic stuff whatever... It's getting old, ok, but it's well done and there are interesting tracks on this album: 4, 5, 6, 9. The album ends on a cool ambient track. 6/10 because it's no longer in fashion.
-
Indeed, this 1996 EP is gooood. The vinyl contains those two killer tracks, and the maxi CD (i bought it in the UK, but i dont know if it was released elsewhere) sees also "Trancespotter" in its tracklisting, which makes it even more interesting! 3 excellent tracks, for the pleasure of your ears.
-
This album is too hard. It seems the guys were too lazy to balance correctly all their instruments. It sounds bad. Eventually, you get bored very quickly. What's worse is that some tracks are good; but all you want while listenting to the others is escape. 3.5/10.
-
I agree. this is a good album, with many ideas. It's -al dente- psychedelic..oh yes it's getting old now, but it doesnt matter. I like tracks nr 3, 4, 6, 7. now 6.5/10.
-
mmmh yes and no. I remember I was shown the review that was written by some sucker of Coda Magazine. The article was begining by: "it seems the Bordeaux guys have listened to lots of Dub-stuff in these days..." Indeed there are bad tracks in this album, but some are well done. Personnally I like Harbinger, Screenager, and XXL Files. It's nice to listen to it when you're working by night and you're really tired... Anyway we were used to listening to something else with the Saint-Médard-en-Jalles guys. Don't buy it if you have a rigid idea of what they can do. It's not so bad in its style, but don't expect a psy album. wow-no-mark.
-
Those are top-quality tracks. Or so, they used to be whan this compil was released. It's worth it. At the time of its release, i would have marked it 8/10....but now...if you like oldschool psychedelic trance, it's still ok.

V/A - Serial Killaz Artist: Various Title: Serial Killaz Label: Atomic Date: 2000 Track listing: CD 1 01. 08'41" Eat Static : Second Sight 02. 06'18" Viper : Moodadjuster 03. 07'58" Dope : Badangmix 04. 06'02" Wasp V Steriliser : Bug Thing 05. 07'47" N-Tropic : Impact (AD Mix) 06. 07'50" Noise : Darkling Baby 07. 09'17" Four Carry Nuts : Professor Hastig 08. 07'08" Snug : Big Clock 09. 08'25" Cydonia : Lisboa CD 2 (60'00" mix by Dino Psaras) 01. Four Carry Nuts : Professor Hastig 02. Noise : Darkling Baby 03. Eat Static : Second Sight 04. Snug : Big Block 05. Viper : Moodadjuster 06. N-tropic : Impact (AD Mix) 07. Dope : Badangmix 08. Wasp V Steriliser : Bug Thing 09. Cydonia : Lisboa Review: Atomic Delivers us a new piece of artwork, in their own style. don't expect much psychedelism here. I guess the authors want to trigger the listener throught rythms And grooves work... The Eat Static remains quite industrial" with a fast, then slow, then fast beat and many short electronic sounds behind. The Viper tune is very repetitive: a neverending beat, everyting is made with very scratchy sounds, and there are repetitive rounded notes over this. not bad anyway. The Dope one is like a race: it's fast on any point of view. It's also quite minimalistic...only a few sounds to cheer you up a little. The Wasp vs Steriliser: this track has a beat...but it looks calm, because the rythm is very clear, the melody takes its time, everything echoes back...it leaves a cool feeling. The N-Tropic is much more Noisy, to such an extent that you could figure you're in a factory. the sounds are noisy, the beat is repetitive, nothing is really enjoying, but the result is fine! The Noise track has a bit the same style: a good drum work, some breaks, but at this point I begin to wonder if such a track can't be called a simple rhythmic track (oh yes, there are 2 samples over it!!). The 4 Carry Nuts track is really more intereting: you suddenly wake up with a fast And dancing rythm, a powerful bassline, some wizzy sounds, dancing groove. When you think about it, the difference is not that huge compared to the tunes listened to before, but, THIS one sounds really good. (it's also been released on an Aurinko EP in these days). You can feel much more work And expertise on this track. It evolves nicely... A compilation without Snug in the year 2000 wouln't be a so-called compilation, so here it is: the same recipe as on their other tracks: a filled background with a good rythm, some strange electro-noisy-plastic-scratchy sounds coming from everywhere... you'd better like the feeling of being in a factory Eventually, Cydonia delivers us the last track: it's quite cool. It really looks like a commom Cydonia track, but downpitched. Globally, it is a bit trippy -a cool melody, some sentences or voices, and the typical Cydonia sounds-. I like this one too. As for the second CD? well those are the same tracks mixed with energy by Dino Psaras...imagine a machinegun!! It calms down at the end, though. For once, I prefer listening to the mix...but that's as you like. Overall, the tracks are all -quite- good, with good surprises, and...I really prefered "Single Cell", but, well if you like very dark tunes, and the Atomic style it's ok. A darkish 6.99/10.

oooh this one is old. Back to 96...i thought this cd was excellent. now, of course it's become kinda out of date. Anyway the tracks are dynamic and well built, the remixes are great. Now you would call this 'melodic trance'. This is not really in fact. It looks like 96 Israelian trance. Indeed, if you like this kind of music, this is a good reference. An oldschool mind says 6/10.

When I listened to the first minutes of the first track during summer 97, i was flabbergasted - i told Sylvain, the shop retailer: "it reminds me of something". He answered me "yeah, the composers are Etnica guys". then i bought the cd immediately without listening to any second of the other tracks. that was the IFO first effect. then , at home, i discovered the rest...total mindshock!! Roughly, the album is more than awesome, there are no words to describe this one. This is pure energy all along. Maia itself is a monument: there are twisted sounds coming from everywhere, multiple layers of melodies over powerful basslines And kicks. the track is 11 min long, but never monotonic as there are scores of little breaks And changes. This is just like that in the other tracks, power, power And perfection everywhere. Imagine a perfect journey of the mind. Grooves And melodies are meant to bring you everywhere it's possible. It's also incredible that the tracks are all different. Taygeta, Merope, Alcyone are also fantastic, orgasmic, uplifting, mindbending... It's obvious the tracks have been worked on very long to trigger the best effect on the listener. On Electra, you get on lightspeed immediately. It's ultimate (everything is ultimate, though, here, in the Pleiades), and your soul is close to escape in deep space . Asterope is the very sister of the others, and eventually the ambient Celaeno allows your newly energized mind to land. The words definitely dont exist to describe this high creation... I have a theory about that: Max And Maurizio are in fact aliens from the Pleiades (some sounds in the background of the tracks looks as if aliens were singing) and they try to communicate their culture to us through their music. IFO is simply billion years ahead. Three years after, i still listen to it, i have the same feeling of my mind being blown to infinite extent. Buy buy buy absolutely. 11/10.

If you want a review of this album you'd better read the reviews of the former albums! Good things: new tracks, although not spectacular. Typical AP style. Bad things: everything is mixed (bhwaaargl) and the Trilithon or Floorplay collaborations are awful. I can say I liked AP, but at the sight of this thing, I cant help thinking that this is only a matter of money for Trust in Trance And AP. Why isn't it a brand new not mixed album? If AP are tired, they'd beter not release anything like that And wait to have new ideas! I must add that I didnt buy this album, and only listened to it. In other words, if you don't know Astral Projection, please buy this album And take this 7/10, if you already have the former albums, there's no interest, so...only 2/10.

V/A - Lunar Civilization Artist: Various Title: Lunar Civilization Label: Moon Spirits Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 09'30" Wizzy Noise : Shores Of Freedom 02. 08'14" Jaïa Feat Gill : Drum Explorer (DJ Maël Rmx) 03. 06'43" Total Eclipse : Once Upon A Time 04. 08'34" Elixir : Drops Of Madness (Talamasca Rmx) 05. 08'14" Bamboo Forest : Discover 06. 09'52" Absolum : Biologic (Live Mix - Amsterdam 99) 07. 07'43" Blue Planet Corporation : Blue Pill 08. 08'18" Lagoon : BLM 09. 06'26" Toires : Sissal Review: This is the latest 3D-V....hum no..this is the first Moon Spirits compilation. Globally, the compil is excellent. Even the banner-design reminds me of good parties... First Wizzy Noise provides us with a cool twisted tune, dark and dancefloor oriented. Ok for your brain. Then we have the surprise to see that Drum Explorer has a second breath with this remix from DJ.Mael. It consists in the main pattern as the original, a very good And fast rythmic, lots of strange sounds And voices. Ok we can feel the immutable 3D Vision style, but it's good, so... For the third track...well it's hard to understand what went through Serge S to create this one... An excellent track with a powerful bass and incredible twisted sounds. Imagine a calm melody that becomes mad sometimes! 4th track: do you like the 3DV touch? Well we have a dual-effect here because Lestat remixed an Elixir track. mmmh it's an usual Talamasca track if you think about it...5:30 of rythm and "zoing-tchik-poum-glang" sounds, then a break and a repetitive melody during 3 minutes - no offense - ok it's a good track, again. the fifth track is a dark one by Bamboo forest. It consists in a very fast And fat kick and some sounds of any kind everywhere, and a slight melody behind this. A pure nightrack, simple but efficient. (after Drumatrix), Christof continued to sample the Matrix movie for Dutch people, and us: The Biologic remix looks like the original with more sounds and samples - not a revolution. the odds are that the Matrix is a neverending source of samples for the psytrance scene...so BPC gives us a quite calm song with a cool And clear melody. It's a morning track, and a good track again. Christof under the name Lagoon gives us a strange track, quite slow, with good ideas, but boring sometimes. Imagine an Absolum track downpitched, on which you removed many sounds. Toires, eventually, gives you a taste of what's in his new album. It's a complete And deeply trippy 'ambient' track, put there for you to land... Recommendations - 3DV: reboot sometimes. - TErec: encore! - reader: buy this compil which is worth 8/10.
-
Beware: if you dont like twistednoizycrackingwobbling sounds, don't go further. If your ears can stand the run and if you brain is prepared for it, ok....else...don't even think about it! It's very very psychedelic everywhere. Whatever can be the focus you want to have while listening to this record, sound is everywhere...you can't escape it. By the way, the tracks are quite all the same, but it's not especially boring. Boom strikes here. 7.5/10.
-
Strange: when I first listened to this album, I flashed immediately on Mindhunter and Ligntning Rods. they are awesome And made me groovy immediately. Of course, Colombian Necktie And Freakshow are good also, but they were cooked too long...well it's a pretty good album, but that's not what I expected from Cydonia. Like Max, I think it's tooooo...light. Moreover this CD is hard to find. 4.5/10
