np: Amon Tobin - El Cargo

Dido indeed has a nice voice! I've never heard anyone (except me) talking about CMX. It's a very popular finnish hard/prog rock band. The vocalist (A.W. Yrjänä) has great voice and the music is indeed strange, psychedelic even. And the lyrics are unbelievable! I don't remember anyone (except me again) mentioning Soft Machine or Colosseum. They are very good jazz/prog rock. Especially the last three tracks on Colosseums album The Valentyne Suite are incredible.

Best chillout track for me is 4d - Slivva or Igneous Sauria - Momentary Distraction, depending on my mood. Thus the best chill album is Wabi. This might be considered as ambient though.

I think Floyd is much better than Shpongle.. But I don't think they're the only godfathers of psytrance. And they're not electronic. IMO Tangerine Dream (and Klaus Schulze's soloworks) and Amon Düül II, Soft Machine & the likes should be mentioned also. PF is more mainstream & popular than those but still...

That's a funny sample! But the best sample for me is in Prime Time Plastix - Nep-tune, the one that says something like "now we're ready" in a very alien voice. Hux Flux - Experimenting With Potions has the nice humming in it.

Well I could call Finnish psy monotonous (TF, Squaremeat). Same synths, no decent melodies, irritating samples and effects. Good in parties, unlistenable at home.

Not! Hmmm, albums that have only good tracks. Quite difficult to think of... Maybe these: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads Tool - Lateralus Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon CMX - Isohaara CMX - Aion CMX - Cloaca Maxima I CMX - Cloaca Maxima II (CMX is a finnish progressive/heavy band) No trance albums come to mind. Closest to perfect for me are Pleiadians - IFO and Krumelur - Minimal Animal, but they both have one or two tracks that are only mediocre.
