Headphones: Ultrasone PROLine 750's
visine replied to Malevol3nt's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Ultrasone 750's get 2 out of 5 rating..wow that's low. AKG 701 are rated 5 out of 5 and Senn's 280pro get 4 out of 5...glad they agree with my purchases -
many of the old FR posse have been releasing progressive in the last few years so I'm not gonna be surprised if they continue doing that with Flying Rhino.

Check out AKG K701. I absolutely love'em. They are open headphones so they are for home type listening because they don't isolate outside sounds. They might be a tiny bit more expensive than your budget allows but I guess that depends on where you buy them (beware of shady online shops selling B-stock, refurbished stuff for cheap and always look for a warranty from the manufacturer). I've heard good things about Grado headphones. Also Sennheiser HD series might be good too. I also have Sennheiser HD-280 and they do a good job of isolationg the outside sound (so they would be good for DJ-ing). They are very inexpensive and probably the best you can find for that price range which is much less than your budget. Grado, AKG and Sennheiser are really the leaders in commercially produced headphones. Many of their models satisfy the needs of the leading proffesional recording studios so you should be able to find something for you. -
Kazakhstan? I saw flyers with some DJ Borat spinning over there

Sweet! Thanx a lot
-
Cool thanx man! Any chance we can get them in full quality instead of compressed mp3 files?

Totally agree.

Sorry to be slightly off topic but wasn't Etnica "The Dominator" really sort of a remix of the famous track made by the legendary Human Resource? It certainly uses their signature sample and has the same song name. If so, it seams fitting to give Human Resource a credit. To me in a way it looks like Pion is remixing a remix of the original when you look at it. Anyways, good luck with your release. I'm certainly looking forward to hearing what it sounds like.

Wink - Higher State of Consciousness Microwave Prince - Cyclic Evolution
-
Well they did quite a few remixes of commercial stuff. I'm really curious how this new album sounds. Their early classics are truly timeless.
-
Maybe Suntrip will start releasing music like this in future
-
Extra Mundane maybe. That's on the B side of the single.
-
sorry confused it with Orphic Resonance track he released elsewhere
-
Hallucinogen - Orphic Thrench is not released on twisted afaik.

As I said I am well aware of both schools of thought and you might have a valid point. I am not 100% convinced as there are some other opinions from the industry that don't think the cable is such a big factor when it comes to the actual sound output.... There has been a lot of controversy over this very subject in audio circles over the years and a lot of drama too. Here are just some examples of opinions: click for the article another one.

I'm not 100% convinced that's the case. There are two schools of thought in the audiophile circles. One says yes the cables make a difference and the other thinks quite opposite.

"We lead double lives and have sex with beautiful women" - Planet Ben track

There are some great tracks on it. Just listened to the free mp3 promo. Prosect track absolutely rocks and so does Amygudala's remix. Actualy that remix probably beats Prometheus at his own style. I could have easily seen these two released on Twisted. I still gotta hear the rest of it better but these two grabbed my attention immediately which was enough to order the CD. Hopefuly my copy arrives soon $10 including worldwide shipping is a realy good deal. I wasn't too keen on the earlier comp they released but they definitely raised the bar with this one. I recommend everyone to downoald the free mp3 promo and give it a shot. If I didn't do this I'd definitely overlook it...glad they did such a bold move

Sven Vath is indeed great but I would not recommend Fusion. That one is not Trancey like he was asking for. Maybe try Barbarela - My Name is Barbarella You can listen to it here. Make sure you click on the My Name is Barbarella track name because some other track plays automatically when you open that page. Early Paul Van Dyk work like My World track for example. Amorph - Sunflow (Oliver Lieb Remix) will blow you away. Pure high energy hard trance. Make sure it's Oliver Lieb remix because it's much better than the original that got outdated really quickly. Another one to look at it Lazonby - Sacred Cycles. The original version is like 15 minutes long and begins with some Indian dude speech (maybe Ghandi)...total timeless classic. Microwave Prince - Golden Times and Cyclic Evolution. Cyclic evolution has some monser 303 acid work on it. The Essence of Nature - Blue Orchidee Incredibly danceable, uptempo yet funky Trance monster classic Laurent Garnier selected it for his famous X-mix 2 on !K7 label. It was originally released on Harthouse. Resistance D - Throm 3 Fantastic track that's stood the test of time well and the best I heard from them. Pascal FEOS is today known as a Techno producer around the world but back in a day he used to make great Trance as a member of Resisance D. Scooter - Unity Without Words....yeah I'm mentioning Scooter Before the cheesy happy rave anthems they became popular for they actually made some nice Trance. Cosmic Baby - Loops of Infinity also comes to mind as well as the firs Psy Harmonics comp from 1994. Psy Harmonics were so well ahead of the time. Here you'll hear a collection of some incredibly clever, hypnotic, emotional and at times psychedelic as hell trance. One of the tracks on it is "Dance ov thee Pink Elephants" and the name really really fits the song. It's a total hypnotic minduck as if you were hallucinating and seeing pink elephants dancing Very strange when you hear it first but after a few listens it just sucks you right in. You'll also find some Trancey songs on that CD with that emotional quality you seem to be looking for so the whole comp is a really nice joyrney through different moods and experiences. I'm sure I'll think of some more stuff later but this should get you going along what's already mentioned above.

Ooops sorry I confused you for someone else in a different discussion Please disregard my comments.

Wow..so you're saying Suntrip records is trying to destroy Metaphysic?
-
No sir. It seems like you and your Methaphysic buddies are so attached to your music and "label" that you kind of expect everyone to either say the greatest, Bom Shiva, PLUR, sing you praises kind of stuff or shut up and say nothing if they have suggestions, questions, don't really agree with you etc. If those people don't shut up you get really offended, refuse to reason and resort to childish and juvenile petty attacks. What in the world possesed you to attack Diaks here. He went and stated his reasons why he is no longer part of your crew and you wanted to retaliate and trash his music promo thread. Don't you see how this makes you look? Sorry dude, Psynews is not your problem, your attitude is.

Wow...this Cosmogenesis post has got to be one of the all time Psynews greatest moments.....way up there with NHJO's famous "I try die you" Signature material man
