how much would you offer for Project II Trance vinyl?
visine replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in General Psytrance
I've seen this release quite a few times available. Despite of its importance and historic value it doesn't seem to be as rare as some other releases. I've seen the CD version more often than the vinyl if my memory serves me correctly. I've bumped into it quite a few times over the years but I don't think I've ever seen it sell for a crazy high price. I think 85 GBP is a very inflated price, at least based on what I've seen over the years. I may be wrong and there may be a sudden change in demand for vinyl, but I think this one may fetch about 30.....maybe 40 Euros. Of course crazy things happen when two uninformed yet rich bidders fight on e bay or one may be able to find it for dirt cheap with a little bit of luck and patience but the above stated price seems reasonable I think. -
It's really simple. Someone else can pay more and is willing to pay more than you and gets the CD and you don't. It may be expensive but why is it unfair? I never sold anything on e bay, but I don't think it's fair to call anyone greedy bithches because they want to maximize their profit. If someone is willing to pay for it it's their money and their business not mine to judge. If their prices are out of line the market will not support them. Artificially inflated prices will not last in the long run. So someone else has more money and is willing to spend more...good for you man. If you are that rich more power to you. If buying that CD means you eat macaroni and cheese for the entire month and it will make you happy....again good for you. I have my priorities in life and they are my business. What's really lame is to be a sore loser and refuse the fact that what's really pissing you off is not being able to get those rarities that someone else will get without having to be patient and spend hours and hours in obscure online and offline shops.

Of course you're old enough to remember those guys ..They were active towards the end of the 80's and beginning of 90's. It was thanks to them that genres like Trance, Hard Core, Acid etc were born. ..oh and also I don't see any of these mentioned anywhere: MFS, early Superstition, X-trax including Misjah & DJ Tim, Wink whose Higher State of Consciousness blows the living shit out of any Hardfloor's 303 manipulation,Miss Djax and Djax Up Beats, early Paul Van Dyk, Psy Harmonics with their totally unique sound, Speedy J, X-mixes and !K7, Yves De Ryter and his projects on early Bonzai label, Flying Rhino, Cosmic Baby ...unless of course you never heard of them

Nice read Looks like we both had similar paths. I don't know what you were into before you got into Eye Q/Harthouse and German Trance, but for me it was guys like LA Style, Cubic 22, Moby, Humanoid, Channel X, The Prodigy (early days), Orbital, Dance 2 Trance, Westbam and other Mayday crew, Human Resource, Rotterdam Termination Source etc..

Looks like he did. Here is what DJ Zen, head of the now defunct Adodisc label said:

..you can also send it to me...I'll surely send the money to them

I was wondering that too, but then I think I understood. I don't think that uniform he wore was nazi...just military (didn't notice any swastikas). I think he wanted to make a point that before divided Berlin was just like a dull military zone (especially East), then he puts on a Trance record and if you notice as the music starts suddenly there is color. To me that symbolized the city before (dull, boring, military) and after (colorful, interesting) the fall of the wall which is what they discuss after that scene.

Here is a little reminder to all Trancers that were around in the early days: click here It's a great documentary explaining German and especially Berlin Trance. Kind of nostalgic to hear Visions of Shiva, Love Stimulation, Voov, Marmion-Schoneberg, Hardfloor's remix of Robert Armani's "Circus Bells" although the DJ sped it up while playing at the club and others. Enjoy!

What happened to Digital Structures and Iboga?
visine replied to firebreath's topic in General Psytrance
I'm having trouble finding much psy elements on their current releases. Tegma album sounded creative to my ears and so did Prosect/Sonify stuff, but beyond that a lot of their other stuff sounds pretty housy and mainstream or done a million times before..... Mainstream is clearly their direction and if any artist had anything to do with a big time Mixmag type name, they will sure mention it, so it's not like they are deceiving people. If you want something catchy, funky and easy to digest they are probably the label to look at, but if you want the underground feel I suggest you look elsewhere. Iboga's been going this route lately, but they formed a new sub-label Prestige for clubbier sounds so hopefully they will keep commercialy oriented stuff there and release more daring and creative stuff without sticking to the same formulas on Iboga. -
Plastic Dreams must have gotten remixed a million times...maybe not by prog psy guys, but one can argue there is no such thing as prog psy. Let's face it Tribal Vision wants to be a big time mainstream progressive trance label and you'll see references to big time mainstream commercial names in pretty much every booklet of their comps...so if someone remixed it on Tribal Vision may sound very similar to what was or would be done by a mainstream name....but that's another topic altogether

Oh yeah. That is one of the all time classics... It's right up there with Rotterdam Termination Source - Poing, Cubic 22 - Night in Motion, Moby - Go, Human Resource - Dominator, L.A. Style - James Brown is dead, early Prodigy and others that were true pioneers and had profound influence on the evolution of electronic music and its many genres. Ahhh this tune reminds me on good old days...still remember watching that video when I was a kid Maybe the video is somewhere on youtube. I suspect Nemo will have a comment in this topic

Not already mentioned....Speedy J and Orbital....some poeple like The Orb too.

Yes. As a mattater of fact it's one of the greatest melodic Goa Trance albums ever. A true classic. The label does not exist any more. Maybe a label like Avatar could re-release it, but this is obviously easier said than done. You'd need to find all the members of the no longer active band who own the copyright and have their permission to do it, nagotiate the contract....who knows maybe they moved on to producing some completely different stuff and don't want to have their old album re-released..There are many issues and problems that may arise even if some other label like Avatar is interested in re-releasing it.

Exactly what I was talking about Just give your ears a chance to adjust to a lower volume and you'll notice after a while that lower voume is plenty for your ear to absorb the music well. If you blast it loud immediately and then turn the volume down to the same level I was talking about above and then you ear will tell your brain that it is too quitet because it was adjusted to the higher volume to begin with. Your brain understands something as "loud" or "quiet" by comparing the current volume to the previous one you listened. If the previus or initial volume is low then after the adjustemnt period you can enjoy music without too much loudness. If you start blasting immediately, you are asking for trouble.

Back in the mid '90's I discovered two things....Goa Trance and Internet. I remember spending countless hours searching the web in the shcool library in order to quench my thirst for Goa Trance info. I was completely blown away by the sound of this music and started saving every penny to buy as much as I could Soon I discovered online stores like X-radio or Transient records' web store and rushed to my bank to get the money to get a international money order to send it in mail and then like two months later receive these super precious packages containing Goa Trance CD's. Pretty much every order I needed to e mail the store so I could make sure they have the stuff I wanted in stock.... Right around that time...I stumbled up on this site run by some Jason C guy offering reviews of my favorite CD's and sooo many more I didn't even know existed. The site was called TRiP and I absolutely enjoyed reading it...and if my memory serves me correctly someone posted a link to Goatrance.free.fr in one of the reviews....and that's how I discovered Psynews. Nowdays I don't use money orders from my bank to order CD's...Paypal transactions are much faster...I don't wait for my CD's nearly as long and there are gazillion reviews avaliable online...most which I don't bother reading too much since there are samples of music online.....but that innocent feeling of knowing that you are part of something so cool that moves you so much just like TRiP is pretty much gone....time to grow up I guess

Here's a good techniquie when listening to headphones (applies to speakers too). When you are about to put your headphones on to listen to music for the first time start playing at a very, very low volume. Keep that extremely low volume down for a while until your ear adjusts. Once the ear is adjusted (usually about 5 minutes or so), then turn the volume up if you need to but not suddenly. You'll see that if you do this, your ear will adjust and in many cases you will not need to listen to music loud because your ear is used to it and absorbs the sound well at lower volumes. Most people tend to blast it at a very high volume immediately and their ear ajdust to high volume. Once the ear gets used to loud music the listener doesn't feel it's as loud (for example the music sounds really loud when you come to the party first, but later you don't notice the loudness as much). The problem with listening to music at high volume immediately is that after you are used to it and your ear is adjusted, you don't really notice that you are damaging your ear. Ringing in your ear, itchiness, pain etc. are definitive signs you need to take it easy and go to some silent place or turn the music off. I've heard of many DJ's go deaf because they didn't properly care for their hearing.

Rare 12" Lot on Ebay - Prana, OOOD, Pleiadians
visine replied to The Psychologist's topic in For Sale/ Trade
CABB-02 Blue Planet Corporation Antidote / Xoco -----> Antidote song on this record is actually remixed by Pleiadians....absolutely fantastic track. I like it much better than the original version. It's also released on Transient 4 compilation if you prefer CD format.
