Oh I didn't even realise you can click on the picture Does this one sound like 'Maintaining Scan for UFOs'? Yeah I heard it on a Matsuri comp...Sympathy in Chaos I think.
-
I don't think so. I think it's kind of convinient to download all the OOP stuff now and enjoy that and then when more stuff gets OOP you download that as well. The only difference to a person that does that would be the waiting period and many are willing to wait a couple of years or so until current new release are no longer available because they have plenty of free stuff to keep them busy. I am not saying they purposely wait for a particular release to go out of print, but their interest in new stuff THEY NEED TO PAY FOR decreases because they have plenty of OOP free downloads that keep them happy, thus lower interest in current releases.
-
well think about this for a second...a guy that is ok with downloading stuff that's out of print does so and fills up his hard drive with a lot of music ...he's happy because there is a ton of stuff he can download..so his interest in new releases (and spending money on them) decreases...after a while what was once new music is old so he goes ahead and downloads that as well because of "hey now this is old and out of print, I'm not hurting anyone...I'll just download it" logic. Meanwhile guys like PKS have to destroy their CD's in order to cut their losses.

Does this release feature "Maintaning the scan for UFO's" track? I love that song.
-
Maybe not to you, but it does to someone else...
-
Exactly Otto Matta..you got my point..
-
Yes I tracked it down. It is one of those Swedish "forest" style CD's. There is also an exclusive Ka-sol track...Ka-sol is one of my favorite produces...simply incredible. Check it out in the reviews section.
-
It would also be kinda convinient to wait until however many hunderd copies are sold (or in PKS case some even destroyed) until they are OOP so you can start downloading
-
That won't stop illegal downloading/sharing..
-
Izik told me he has nothing to do with Brainman project..so it looks like it's just a rumour...
-
That would be correct It's like Food, but no "F" in it of course.
-
No I don't think promos have that. When there is a punched hole I believe it means they will not be sold through regular retail channels for the full price. Many times CD's that don't get sold are actually supposed to get destroyed because it makes more financial sense to destroy it and not sell for cheap then pay royalties. This is mostly the case wit big commercial labels that sell millions of cd's. The way I understand it, if there is a hole in the bar code it was sold to the third party for cheap wholesale prices and it was not meant for retail any more (hole in the bar code so retail stores can't scan it).

Yeah, I'd at least want a good true-to-the original uncompressed quality..preferably the original. mp3's suck.
-
Would you really be satisfied with a compressed crappy mp3?

Ahem... since when Techno needs to be minimal in order to be Techno? Minimal Techno is no more "real" than layered Techno is...maybe it's the influence of Detroit school of Techno that made people believe Minimal Techno = "real" Techno, but I don't agree with that at all...Midimiliz indeed sometimes walks the fine line between Techno and Trance...but who cares about classification anyways...there is no such line really...it's all about how you experience it...not classification.
-
Yeah whatever the truth I think it is safe to assume what you just wrote above. This is Simon's oldest release I can think of...maybe it really is the first.
-
Well the guy you said worked at the pressing plant in UK said a double digit number but can't remember exactly how many. I could have sworn he said 30....but who cares ...double or tripple digit number of copies pressed back in 1992 is unqestionably rare.
-
I'd classify it as the earliest Trance when the genre was being born and developed.
-
I've got a super rare Simon Posford record available for sale or trade. It's called Flight promo 1, Butterfly Records (Dragonfly's parent label) first release from 1992. From what I've heard there were only a double digit number of records pressed back in 1992 (I believe it's 30 but I'm not sure). It's quite possibly Simon Posford's first release. Please PM me with your offers. Thanks

Etnica used The Doors sample in their Intense Visitation track and they also used that sample in their remix of Vimana. Neither track has ever been released although a part of Intense Vititation was on Goa Gil's mix cd.

I was just being careful I am not misunderstood.. I'm glad you accepted my remarks so positively It made my effort worthwile. ...and just for the record I don't think collecting is inheritably bad...

I might as well address "my section" of your reply just to make things a bit more clear for everyone. I understand that finding that long lost treasure brings a collector an amotional high when he/she tracks it down. Some people want a fancy car, others want a nice soundsystem and they enjoy that very much..some love travelling...It's what makes us human. Now if there is an excessive need from others to praise your (not you personally) collection or accomplishments that may be a sign of a deeper emotional issue. I don't feel like it's up to me to point my finger at such instances. It would not help those people if I did and was right about it, besides I don't want to waste my time and energy on digging through old posts. However, there is something each and every one of us can do and that is ask yourself how important is it to me that others praise my collection? How important is it to me to tell others what my precious jewels are and then receive good feedback? Is it hard for me to resist bragging about my latest accomplishments and rubbing it into others' faces? If the answer is "yes it's of extreme importance" then it may be a good idea to step back(again not you, not Ukiro or anyone else in particular) and dig deeper inside yourself and understand why you need such attention. This is not meant as an insult or hostility toward anyone in particular, but if this applies to anyone reading this and that person chooses to address his/her issues and is better off in the long run my time and energy spent on writing this are justified.

I understood you well...no worries. I knew you were joking

He he ... sorry to burst your bubble but that Crop Circles 12" is nice to have and has some great music on it, but it's hardly the most valuable record in collector's circles Anyways, having pictures in avatars or link to their Discogs accounts in signatures is not what I was taking about in my previous posts.
