WTF, discern "intentions and rules"?? That's a very narrow minded and objective view of what music is IMO. I'd rather subscribe to the notion that it is in the ear of the beholder to decide and appreciate how something sounds and not some absolutist rules that need to be learned... You're just sour grapes because someone doesn't speak highly of darkpsy. Let's move on shall we?

Wow you remixed it? Now that would be interesting to hear
-
What does "understanding" music really mean to you? Think about that for a minute.
-
and this one: Read the handwritten note note at the beginning of this videao if you want to crank the nostalgia volume up:

Wow, you're brave to post such mix amongst a sea of people that were little babys or weren't even born when these came out Don't you know they prefer hypermelodic "new school Filteria style" Goa, Incoherent/random Darkpsy and Full On Killarghs ? Anyways, agreee with some of the choices. Too bad you missed these

I'll refrain from "it's not Goa" type of comments you may get from other people on this board as that's definitely not the only genre I like. I get it. It wasn't meant to be a Goa remix despite of it being a Goa Trance classic when it was originaly released and that's cool. I'll have to say, and this is just my own taste, it does sound too generic to me. There isn't much much new to be heard here relative to what's been released in a sea of full on out there. When one remixes something, a comparison to the original is inevitable. This one just doesn't have that "wow" factor the original had back than. At least you didn't plaster uplifting melodies "Filteria style" all over the place that somehow felt like is trying to desperately upstage what Etnica/Pleiadians did, only to be reduced to a wannabe sound, so respect for that.

Great tune !!!! Fuck, your Psy/D'n'B stuff is mental Any chance you'd be able to upload it in wav quality? Thanx !!

Thanks a lot Mars !! I'm assuming this is the Padprod website: http://padprod.com/ Is that the one you visited?

There's this great video of French parties and cool tunes like Doof - Let's Turn On. Someone put it up on Youtube here: I'd love to have it in proper quality. It features shows that were aired on French MCM channel back in the day. I see someone mention DVD in the description so I was wondering if someone could help me find it if it indeed exists and was for sale. I tried Amazon.com but I didn't see anything there. Thanx

Based on what I heard so far I'd go for Subliminal Melancholies

Doing an interview with Peter Candy of Koxbox this saturday
visine replied to GagaISM's topic in General Psytrance
Well the first Koxbox release was "Eachoes Of Dawn" track on Cyberworld compilation: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Cyberworld/release/199424 I think that track was released before either of the singles you mention. I'm really curious what Sonar Flowers 12" sounds like. Is there a sample to listen to it somewhere? If not maybe you could describe it a little bit? GREAT interview by the way. You can tell Peter was candid and didn't mind sharing info...even if it could be sensitive such as his relationship with Frank that unfortunately deteriorated to the point of them no longer being friends. -

OK, cool. I suppose that make sense. Some peoples' definitions of Psytrance tend to be more inclusive than mine. TGU is just not "trippy" enough for me to qualify as "Psy" and tends to emphasize the "groove" aspect instead which is why I labeled it as Progressive..... at least to my ears, but now were are talking about tastes and perceptions. Anyways, back to the original topic...looking forward to the interview. -

Same can be said about the music you produce... How about flipping the coin of that argument? Maybe you like The Great Unknown so much that you have hard time seeing someone say it is not Psytrance.... I think that particular album and A Major Problem In Australia EP are closer in vibe to Son Kite and co. than Forever After and Dragon Tales. -

Please, get off your "state of trance" high horse already. You damn well know it's subjective. Go to Discogs and have a look at the genre tag for The Great Unknown and any of the first 3 Son Kite albums. It says "Psy-Trance, Progressive Trance" for all of them. Besides, I don't see how "tribal" elements would disqualify it from being "progressive". Is this "tribal" and "deep" enough for you: -

I don't see what's so funny. If I was to put a name tag on this tune, it would be progressive : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpzWh4noh_Y Certainly not psytrance in my book... -

I thought you talked to Peter and not Frank or Ian. Are you saying you talked to all 3 of them? -

"Visine...I need some Clear Eyes." If I was you, I'd go for something to clear my ears instead, but hey, suit yourself. "WTF? Clubby Progressive? Please link me to the clubby progressive site. " You're welcome to google and find plenty of such sites yourself. Why do you need my help? "I had no idea that KoxBox sold out. " Hold your horses, noone ever said they sold out. They did shift their sound to closer resemble progressive on this album and that likely has to do with departure of Peter Candy and contributions of Ian Ion. I think they executed those ideas better on their Saikopod - Phutures And Options album, but that's just me and my taste. If someone had to press me to pick one album where they sold out, it would be "U-Turn"....sold out to Full On -

The album may be danceable. However, it is not psytrance, but rather clubby progressive. -

Ask him if he would be interested in collaborating with Elysium. Having Peter provide the pure psychedelia of old, peak Koxbox days, joined with Kristian's tribal elements of Elysium would be outstanding. Imagine Dragon Tales or Forever After sound with added Tribal drums and sound of Elysium :o Both artists are probably tired and not interested in producing another carbon copy of their earlier work, but fusing these styles might lead to some new energy and enthusiasm......besides it's not like they live 1000 km away...they are in the same city -
Lunaspice - Relfexion http://www.discogs.com/Lunaspice-Reflexion/release/293915 Spirallianz - Stereopark Playground comp. (Iboga) Maybe Antix and Freq albums

Hi Kristian, Which version of Earth Nation - Alienated is this ?

The best trance ever was made before 2000...
visine replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in General Psytrance
Exactly ! I think many people will agree that good mixing is desirable, but to say poor mixing killed psytrance is ridiculous. Elysium i hope you'll agree with this. Let's also not forget the cheesy full on tracks made of like 10 climaxes and breakdowns with no flow whatsoever. There was a party where the DJ was beat matching flawlessly, but he spun such tracks. Then you see the crowd dance for a minute, then stand idle during the breakdown, then euphorically dance again after the first climax, then 1 minute later another breakdown... ..I kind you not it was start, stop, start, stop every minute or two...no flow whatsoever even though they were all beat matched perfectly.
