An undiscovered gem of futuristic, psychedelic...
mind.breeder replied to Cybernetika's topic in General Psytrance
I know it, played it and I have the soundtrack in mp3. I like Harkonnen tracks by David Arkenstone most. The soundtrack is nice and indeed psychedelic sometimes, but I don't like it very much. It just somehow doesn't fit my taste though I like that style of music very much. IMO the soundtrack for Dune 2000 was much better - more melodic, atmospheric and epic. It also had many psychedelic moments. Some shpongled parts here and there etc. Most of them are remakes of Dune 2 songs. Too bad the sound quality is poor It was made by F.Klepacki - the man responsible for Atreides songs in Emperor and most other Westwood soundtracks. But Emperor is also very solid piece of music. Anyway, I'm glad someone knows it -

Can't make it play. Maybe later. I heard some of your tunes before, they're nice floor beats as far as I remember -

Hmmm Maybe even less CDs IMO Psychill tends to be more inovative than psytrance, but even there are some very boring clichés... -

I wasnt displeased by the fact that some tracks were already out but that the album was boring. Almost lifeless.

Younger Brother - Battery Awesome track! -
I agree. Could have been much better though. I got a feeling like Shulman didn't take this album very seriously

I like it! Good track for dancefloors, it has energy, flow and fine acid lines. Only the name doesn't fit very much. It doesn't sound like dreamland to me -
So what do you think about Random Thoughts (RT) - a new Shulman album?? I gave it 3 listens already and I must say it is a big dissapointment for me First off, I don't understand the point of giving so many collaborations and remixes on a full length solo album. It looks like kind of trend lately (Entheogenic, Bluetech...), but at least here IMHO it destroys the integrity of the album and gives it somehow incomplete feeling. It was one of things that ruined Dialogue of the Speakers for me - there were too few Entheogenic tracks and they were very stagnant IMO (paradoxicaly, the remix from ott was the only one song I really liked from the album). But I would get over that if only RT was good in other aspects. What is worse, most of the songs here are really dull and sound uninspired. I can't say I'm not dainty, but there was really not a single track that made me want to replay. The song production leads to nowhere, just hangs in the drowsy tripped out soundscapes. Of course the music is relaxed and soothing, but I was expecting a lot more, because the second album showed a really good songwriting and it had a story, diversity and spirit. Here, Shulman sounds stuck somewhere between journey and stasis. It was probably meant to sound like random thoughts, but I didn't felt touched by the music like before. And I'm really tired of those "must be" ethnosounds like random wailing, flutes and sitars that are just scattered across the tunes with little melodic progress or structure . I guess my expectations very a bit too high . Anyway, I think that "Meaningful moment" was a lot better. And I'm sure that expectations haven't clouded my senses On the other hand, the sound quality and technical side of production is very good. Shulman further improved their technical skill. The sound manipulation is detailed, the whole album has a very warm and soothing sound and it doesnt sound rather plastic like before. Some of the effects used are perfect and i like that dripping-like percussion and fx as well as some impressive rhytms. However, all songs sort of sound the same My favourite song is "Staring at the Abyss" - fine ambient with interesting gelatinous sound, fantastic atmosphere and that nice Shulman feeling. Probably the only one that will be ripped and put into winamp playlist Hmm maybe I look overcritical The album is probably better than many other chillout releases this year, but for me, it's the same as with Entheo and Bluetech - nothing impressive. If I were to make a review, the grade would be 7/10 I'm sorry if this topic is on the wrong place or something... Haven't seen it around yet

Is it just me, or does this look perverted?

I'm no art expert but i guess that the mushroom is meant to symbolise joystick which he uses to control his "experience" But his face expression is really kinda like wank-concentration -
Simon Posford will invent LSD monitor.

I would love to hear Gargoyles album the combined skills of Ott and SP could craft some nice psychedelia. then New Ott New Carbon Based Lifeforms New Tripswitch and New Deviant Electronics + some new artist that would try making varied psy music like Shpongle not just fullon or tripped out chanting chill

Dark Progressive Gothic Mystical Track
mind.breeder replied to Stalker's topic in Free Music Promotion
Well, I'm impressed. Very interesting and entrancing piece. I like the detailness and atmosphere very much, as well as the constant flow and subtle percussion and fx transformations. The song evokes undead crypts or a lost necropolis Very good intro and ending sequence. Only thing i dislike is the strange sample you used for bassline. It sort of growls too much or what and the melody of it gets kinda lost in the vibration I don't know ho to describe it. Just too spurious or noisy or annoying or whatever. Otherwise, well done -
Right, this one is really good. Personally, it evokes Vangelis' (like sounds and melodies) Blade Runner or Antarctica, but with that distinct solar flavor Some tunes by Future sound of london are similar but mostly more psychotic (Dead Cities, ISDN). Also think it has something from Depeche Mode (their instrumentals and B-sides).

Ground Luminosity (Ott's New Yoghurt Loom Mix) -
I don't like this one at all It sounds rather raw, almost barbarian. The kickdrum is awful (sorry), there are some very trippy sounds, but after a while they become obnoxious. Everything is very abrupt and blunt and the song lacks some magic. I know it was supposed to be insane but you should work a bit more on arrangement and composition.

Very nice. Freestyle feeling, relaxed atmosphere nad great sound Trippy use of instruments

What the hell is that? 5 sec. loop of kick cliche + bassline + some sliced fx?? What about the whole track or smthn?
