Using a pitch shifter might do the trick as well. I've done it in a few tracks, not to get a "demonic" voice, but I'm sure you can get that aswell. Just change the pitch of the track and not the length.

The ReDrum is pretty cool when making beats indeed. Just make sure you have some nice drum samples, that's the key. Search around and build up your own collection of percussion samples.
