From now on you can just call me PsyHenning. My next album will be called Super Sexy Secret.
-
We've been through this before. the 6404 is not a 604 reference.

The combination of mixing skills and track selection. It doesn't matter if you play the best tunes ever if you trainwreck every mix, or if you mix like a god but you only play shitty tunes. It seems to me that the technical aspect of mixing isn't as high within the psy genre as it is in other genres of electronic music. I've met people who don't like tracks being mixed; "the tracks are a journey in them selfs. mixing will ruin that." With those attitudes around, of course there will be shitty djs, people accept it.

Quakenet was founded in 1997, for gamers (lamers). Efnet started in 1990.
-
wtf. Quakenet? Noob. Ef-net is the only decent net there is.

Hahaha, I think the same sometimes myself. I'm used to being the youngest at parties, amongst people who like that kind of music etc. But that sure has changed
-
I did earlier in this thread.

Most of my gigs have been free. Gotten paid for some, but seldom more than 100 €. With the current price level in Norway compared to the rest of Europe ... well, you do the math But I'm not complaining about the money, I started making music when I was 12 years old for fun. That's how I intend to keep it. If I make a few euros here and there, that's great, but it's not why I do it. Of course, I got bills like everybody else. As mentioned earlier, I'm studying these days and working a part time job, so I don't get to do as much music as I'd like to do.

1. Do you download music from the web? Any kind of music. How much? How often? These days I don't download much. I used to though. But these days I have enough on my hands with school, work, doing my own music while trying to have a social life. If I download stuff now it's usually some stuff I've been recommended. I'm also a fan of downloading sets, either dj sets or live sets. 2. Do you download specifically Psytrance releases? No. 3. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the music industry? Yes. 4. Do you think that downloading (and any other forms of piracy) really hurt the Psytrance industry? Both yes and no. It hurt the people who started releasing music after "the old model", but at the same time it opened the eyes for thousands of people downloading stuff, thus discovering a new genre and new artists. 5. Would you like a world that every new album/comp would be released only in the web? Nein. It's interesting to see my album has sold around 300 copies, while a live set I put online a few months ago has gotten well over 6000 downloads...

Yeah, I was going nuts over "Brainchild" back in 1994. I heard a few tracks they/he made after that and they sucked monkey cock.
-
This is great stuff man. I'd love to have something like that on my wall. Give me a message if you feel like shipping an item or two to Norway for a bit of casholinas.

What are you using to sequence with?

THE DJ LIST 2008 ::: RESULTS
phobium replied to cosmicsun's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Don't bother man. These days you're a dj if you make music, and dj's are holding concerts - not gigs. -
Shameless self promotion: Check my live-set; www.phobium.net -> music -> live in Gothenburg I've gotten more feedback on that set than I have from releasing my debut album; Future Uncertain I'll keep a close watch on this thread myself, I'm curious to see what people recommend from the last six months.

Enough bitching. Time to say why we do love about Psytrance
phobium replied to Ormion's topic in General Psytrance
The energy. The parties. The people at the parties. Good scene on the net as well. Easy to get in contact with artists / get feedback from other people. -
What music are you listening to right now?
phobium replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Sure is -
You should check out www.bluemars.org, and listen to the "bluemars" and the "cryosleep" channel. That should provide you with a few names worth checking out.
-
The thing was that I wasn't only listening to psy at that time, I was listening to "everything". Techno, trance, some ambient ... back then the genres weren't taken over by genre nazis so there was a lot more versatile music if you bought a compilation for instance. But I guess KLF was the thing that started it all when I was 10, I remember being very amazed by that.

Phobium - Live In Gothenburg 06-10-2007
phobium replied to phobium's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Thank you so much for the kind words people, especially you Pavel. I know that "dark" (I don't like the term dark myself, anyways....) gives your face the black plague, but it's nice to see that you enjoyed some of the more Goa inspired tunes in this set. Cheers! -
12, in 1994. Eat Static.
