I think i can enjoy both, and i also think it's a thin line between them. Listen to the second CD of Goa 2003 Vol 1 from YSE, for example. I liked it all before, and i considered the tracks basically same style but then i got to know that half of those 8 tracks were progressive and half full-on. Anyway, i can enjoy them both. If you wan't to get into progressive, son kite is probably not the right way. I for one can't grip some of their tracks. Instead, start with ticon, another swedish act from Digital Structures label. I recommend their second album Aero. It's progressive, but with very busy beats and not very repetitive style while maintaining the spirit of progressive, the huge grooves in the basses and the nice extended claps and clicks floating around in the sound spectrum... MM, ticon is really nice. Or maybe ticon is just abnormally good progressive?

Using Fruity Loops Studio...

cubase is easy to use as a "tracker" aswell, you can program rhythms almost as easy as in FL (IMO it's much better in cubase when you learn it), so practice cubase and you will have lot's of experience in mixing and sequencing in cubase once you get your keyboard! -
Interesting, but my question was meant more like: "Is a trip similar to dreaming?" Sorry for being unclear.
-
Do you dream when you are on psychedelics? Similar to lucid dreams?
-
Yes, but it doesn't give a good impression to write that to describe the track. You should be able to have confidence without bragging about something that does not exist =) BTW long time since i saw you here.
-
aha. I didn't know all that, thank you! Anyway, my filter is of the kind that has several bars that can be raised to boost certain frequencies. So you can create any kind of curve you wan't. So i hope it will work.

Just curious.
-
Do you buy 5 records every day? :S
-
What music are you listening to right now?

Vaishiyas - Electrosaat. Yummie. -
i don't have anything to add, just wanna praise: Hallucinogen Pleiadians/Etnica Koxbox/Psychopod a little more.
-
What is the track called?
-
E:P: i tried the one that comes with cubase, vb-1. Sadly, that one is better for full-on basses than floorshaking electroaucustic ones. However i have now tweaked Triangle II enough to be able to continue composing the song without getting frustrated at the bass sound Philter: i will try it, i have halion and have used it's bass-samples with great results before, i will try your method Just wanna know what the difference is between shelve EQ and lp filter? i think i know but if i know correctly there should be no reason not to use the filter. Confused and just to make it clear, i use cubase. Thanx a lot for helping me everybody!

Yes, that's it. I wan't a good, preferably free bassline vst that can make deep, clean basses without distortion. Any suggestions?
-
OK, i have LP, Remixed and their latest album from 2000, fastlane people. I listened to som NSFMC streaming links (with the whole tracks in bad quality) and they were kinda good. On an old swedish rave/techno/trance label called fluid records.

Get some good softsynths! I recommend Superwave P8, Synth1, iBlit, Drumatic for softsynths, they are all free legally and good enough to get you started. I also recommend that you use your creativity a lot and not just copy the psytrance style! That way you will learn more about music and not just how to make psytrance song after psytrance song. Also LPEQ is a good vst-effect for equalizing. And finally, grab a guide and learn what equalizing, vst and all those things mean

I haven't listened to his songs yet but however they sound, his dignity is lost now with this convertion to the evil full-on side =( No, seriously, full-on isn't evil but when every new artist makes full-on, every artist gradually forgetting their origins and all comebacks by old artists are in full-on style, it feels kinda pointless to follow this scene.
-
Ah, i see. Although i can't agree because i rarely hear too fast tracks (don't listen to full-on and don't go to parties so...)
-
Nope, not bad at all. I was basically flaming their more radio-friendly tracks and all there talk about education and complicated music while they just invented one melody and repeated it with some notes variated in each track However i'm pretty confident that's not their true musical goal so i forgive them. Have you heard their debut EP? I think it was called NFSTB something like that, a 5 letter shortening for something with brothers... I remember it had a trippy cover and some nice, raw tunes with acid lines and simple, hipnotic beats. Something to check out indeed, although it's been 3 years since i heard it... Gotta find it again, i will post link if the site is still there somewhere in cyberspace. EDIT: it's called "Not Suitable For Mass Consumption" although i'm afraid i cannot find any direct streams...

Yes. But a slow track that is badly executed ain't psytrance either in that case =) Of course there are limits of what psytrance can be but not just within 10 small bpm's
-
Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger It's THE psy album for me, so many feelings in it. Also download Identified Flying Object by Pleiadians, a very hard to find (on cd of course) masterpiece.
-
"I also hold that more than 145 BPM canNOT be psytrance!" So you mean that Space Pussy by Hallucinogen is not psytrance? Or Conga Fury by Juno Reactor? Screw tempos =)
-
Antiloop... Urgh All their tracks are divided into 2 groups: Commercial: 3-minute tracks with catchy melody and voicesample Clubby: Repetitive, progressiva stuff with lots of drums and weird beats. Now when i think of it, the latest cathegory is not that bad. But i want to throw up when they talk like this: "we are soo much better than other trance/techno groups because we have classical piano education" and you don't even here they've got that cause all their melodies sound the same O.o
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it is correct But i think it's more like you need to get experienced, and then you can start making only good tracks or hits (if you spend enough time and thought on each track) cause i doubt hallucinogen has 50 unreleased albums in a wardrobe.
-
How did you get it? Do you have a real copy or just downloaded files?
-
Or Pleiadians Or Hallucinogen Or Juno Reactor Or basically any other GOOD psy act
