Well if all the releases were digipacks it would be a different story. ot: Abasio I added you to my msn, could have a chat about releases?
-
- - Just trying new directions in music - - - Sound like a nice release - with remixes from SO artists and Merck artists (including Proem, Landau, Secede, Kettel, Funckarma etc)
-
At the moment I'm looking at (including Keef): Kattoo - Places (Hymen) Enduser - Form Without Function (Hymen) Ginormous - The Endless Procession (Hymen) Proem - You Shall Have Ever Been (Merck) Machine Drum - Mergers and Acquisitions (Merck) --Upcoming releases on Sending Orbs--

Well once my cd collection gets big enough I'll be forced to transfer the jewel cases into caselogics/cd holders. I wouldn't seperate them, I know Slappa does cases that hold both the artwork and cd - cd in the back pocket, artwork in the front. I also wouldn't discard the digipack cases, I'd probably keep the releases in there. I have a LOT more jewel cases than digipacks, I might take some piccies this afternoon.

Sounds like an interesting release - mashing up drum + bass, idm, glitch and breakcore. Solid release or no go? #10 sounds pretty funky. http://www.hymen-records.com/ - argentum (757)

I think what he means is that he was one of the winners of the christmas competition... I was too actually, got a copy of TLWH. I listened to it and I don't think it's worth all the hype to be honest. I will have another few listens before I decide for sure, because Ambiguity is a fine track Just that some parts seem overextended and too long, some parts don't sit with me too well, some of it's awesome. I will spin it sometime soon and decide. Otherwise I'll pass it on to someone who'll love it!

+1. Remember it was the users HERE that voted for the albums, not the 'suntrip crew'.

Well I usually will go on both. General process: EITHER: 1a. Read review on Psynews. OR: 1b. Check Saikosounds / Psyshop / Other Store for samples. THEN: 2. Dig around for reviews on the Internet. 3. Sometimes post a topic about the CD(s) in question. 4. Ask friends about the release on MSN. 5. Generally CDs from a year or two back have something written about them, so the 'Search' function comes in handy. THEN: 6a. Buy the release! OR: 6b. Defer the release to a later time if not completely sure about purchase. THEN: 7a. Go to 6a. 7b. Don't buy the release!

Oh no, it's not like that at all. Best thing with music is not to assume and read up on releases before judging them. Samples are generally the best way. Anyway I recommend you try the album - should have at least one track you'll like there.
-
I prefer having a CD. The thrill of getting a package in the mail and ripping off the shrinkwrap, looking at how shiny the disc is, flipping through the artwork is a much cooler experience than having a file downloaded off the Internet. Downloading makes the whole thing impersonal.. but then again it's a much more efficient method of distribution so it could probably benefit smaller labels. Anyway, for the time being there's still many stores stocking CDs so I will continue to buy CDs. Of course if people stopped selling CDs altogether I would have to switch.

Well if you mean 'popular' trance then you're absolutely right. It's a very easy album to get into and like, which is why it's perfect for the summer. But it's by no means cheesy.
-
Oh yeah and I have over 180CDs and never download stuff I can buy on CD. In fact I don't download period at the moment... not even online only releases.

Cream of progressive house and downtempo. Saltwater is probably one of the most played tracks and has been featured on just about every compilation that showcases the 'best' of trance. Overlap and Low Sun are extremely good ambient/easy listening tracks which again have been showcased to death. Autumn Tactics is one of my favourite tracks - very housey with a strong vocal lead - and then you have the Thrillseekers remix of Saltwater which is pretty stunning. I got the two disc special edition (2003) on special at HMV (impulse buy) and I've been spinning at least one track/day from the album. Quality work. Recommend if you love summery music, progressive, house, club trance at it's best - in no way do I find it's cheesy or pretentious.

I'm same as Charlie, if I can get the same thing for less, I will. If there was a 2 bedroom flat for say $800/mo in a moderate area, and then the flat next door to that was exactly the same (semi-detached etc) and had the same features for $900/mo which one would you go for?
-
Well, for me it would have to be - CHICANE - BEHIND THE SUN ABAKUS - THAT MUCH CLOSER TO THE SUN ---------- (nice pair, eh?) AIR - MOON SAFARI KETTEL - MY DOGAN KUBA - INSIDE OUT ELEMENTAL JOURNEY - ABSOLUTE AMBIENT II OCHRE - A MIDSUMMER NICE DREAM SECEDE - TRYSHASLA TRIPSWITCH - CIRCUIT BREAKER V/A - BACKROOM BEATS II V/A - DOWNBEAT LIQUID VOL I V/A - EVERYTHING IS GREEN V/A - SATORI And prog: LISH - FREE FALL SHILOH - BLEED TICON - ZERO SIX AFTER VIBRASPHERE - ARCHIPELAGO And you can't go wrong with Ultimae either.
-
Shpongle - Crystal Skulls (WRA Remix) [obvious] Shpongle - Around the world in a tea daze (Ott Remix) Elemental Journey - Where The Evening Meets The Sky Yagya - When They Stood, They Let Down Their Wings [more like floating] Chicane - Saltwater (The Thrillseekers Remix) [classic] Kettel - Halt Him Landau - Brokenfader Break [not so much flying as rising above the ground - but a fantastic track nonetheless] Phutureprimitive - Dissolve [fell in love with this track a long time ago... masterpiece in orchestral ambient] Secede - Bye Bye Gridlock Traffic [very intense track!] Altitudes - Altitude I And you won't go wrong with any track from Ishq
-
Well Lemodie got in there, which is IDM-Ambient, so why not The Last Resort? Been listening to it and would classify it as psychedelic... Great minimal tech house / idm
-
Sending Orbs released Secede's Vega Libre EP on vinyl and CD. http://www.sendingorbs.com

Currently I only buy original CDs, so no I probably wouldn't. If the tracks were REALLY decent I'd probably buy the comp but they're not IMO.
-
No, if CC released a good progressive comp I would probably get it. Buying a comp for 2 or 3 okay tracks (IMO) is pointless - no matter what label.
-
Nah, there's much better prog/morning fullon by Tribal Vision / Oxygen.
-
Track 1 is okay morning full on as well. It's still Chemical Crew though. The cover art is laughable.
-
... with 8 other shit tracks.
