hey, what's wrong with the club? how can you get lost?
  4. va - midnight storm south african style seems suitable for a monday morning.
  5. i already posted my list, it's on page 2, post #28 ! (if you are reffering to my top5) else, yes, after 1st febr. though we'll probably have to ask some people to make a summary of their lists and making it easier for us by concluding with a TOP 5.
  6. Artist News and Labels announcements is also a way to inform people. just like on TV, when you watch the news, they don't give you commercials after each news item. i aggree, it could be included in the Promotional Area. but we preffer to keep them separate. keep the official releases and news separately. it's just an organisation model.
  7. also, we opened this thread, especially for psynewsers to post their opinnion and to participate. we may be moderators, but we're people, just like you. so if we can clarify, good. if people can improve, good. if people bring pro/con arguments, good. this is what the thread is for.
  8. depends what type of promotion you are going for. i will try to explain this by using "music" as an example (that doesn't mean i am excluding other forms of art, it's just an example): - say you are an artist, who releases a new album. you want to promote your release by announcing it, by informing people about it and giving them link to your product, to test it and buy it. you're making it "official". for this you might as well go to the place specially created for labels and artists, Artist News and Labels announcements. i think this section is described pretty clearly: For labels/artists: promote upcomming/new releases, artist interviews and other news here - say you are an artist (music producer or a dj) and you want to promote your work by offering a product, a free product, a type of product that isn't compatible with the description "for labels/artists: announcements ...". this cathegory includes unsigned artists, signed artists offering a free track, or a dj mix, or maybe samples, and so on. for this type you will use the Promotional Area. also, we have a pinned thread in the General section, called Psynews FAQ. then there is also PM. people can ask anytime. and if some will post double threads, we'll be around to guide them. though i think we have explained pretty well the idea. but for further explanations, i'm here.
  9. err, nemo, don't confuse the guy we will have 2 different sections: Artist News and Labels announcements For labels/artists: promote upcomming/new releases, artist interviews and other news here Promotional Area Post here your products: dj mixes, free tracks, radio stream shows, art work, links, etc. so first section will be for and about signed artists, labels. the second section will be for both signed and unsigned artists.
  10. we discussed providing people with a list with all the releases of 2005. the list would have been way too big and we would have missed some releases for sure, and this fact might have brought complaints.
  11. hey Kristian, when i said stop bashing full on it was something more like metaphorical. but you'd have to see it in the context. i wasn't asking people to stop posting their opinnions on forums you know.
  12. ok, here are few explanations ... it's not a competition, it's statistics, as Insejn said. why? because people are curious to see how the scene is evolving, to see if other people share their taste in music, to see who gets in the scene, who gets out .. and more. also, internet is part of the scene (most promotion, sales, feedback, artist interracting with listeners, organisers, other artists, labels .. happen online), so if psynews can be active in the scene and offer people some information, why not? people like to be informed. there is no problem if this reminds you of isratrance. isratrance and psynews are 2 forums of the same scene. and yes, yearly "Best Of" topics seems like something natural, something that everybody wants and takes part of. well, looks like everybody except you. what are you talking about? ... 2 almost similar competitions, specify detail please. and why does it bother you. btw, there may be 4 or 5 threads about the best or worst releases of 2005. people like to show their appreciation for the artists and releases that please them, by mentioning them. it happens quite often on forums.
  13. so you want us to delete this thread Kristian? would it make you happier?
  14. i'm not the biggest fan of Hallucinogen, but if i think of it, seeing how much he is valued in the scene ... i am anxious to see what "new" he will bring in the scene. i don't wanna hear his sound from 95-96, i wanna see what else he is capable of. how he sees music these days. though the poor guy must have some stress/pressure in releasing a new album with you all guys hunting him and raising your expectations higher than other artists. he didn't even get tracks on compilations lately ...
  15. so what. not enough reason to bash. some men are so superficial.
  16. Cinos, if you tell me now that you're gonna start bashing Posford over a remix, i'll laugh. don't be so easy to influence.
  17. VA - Invasion From Hyperspace, more exactly: OOOD - Free Range excellent for 11am.
  18. so true, so true. this is just a remix, ffs. you people should learn how to appreciate a track as a whole product. then you might maybe be able to "read" its actual value and actually enjoy it. reviewing a track by bass line is just wrong. bassline is like what .. 25% of the concept of a track? if artists choose to use more power in their tracks, then it means that this is the direction that "works" and maybe this is the trend in the scene. it doesn't mean that they lost their talent, or went wacko. and stop these "i will leave the scene" warnings. just choose the music you wanna listen to and get on with it. we have a big scene, and pretty much a wide offer. just like Rain said, "stop full on bashing". i've heard plenty of power in progressive trance, in tech trance, in oldschool, in dark psy, in anything you want. no matter what the style/genre is, if there is no power, people won't dance to it. haven't you noticed?? another thing ... do you expect Hallucinogen to release a new album with exactly the same sound from 1995-1996? we are "10 years later" dudes...
  19. people saying this make me continue take care of your backdrops, and i still plan to buy from you, in the moment i will stop being so broke.
  20. i know what you mean and i tend to aggree with you. thank you (and Maden) for contributing. but we have to "trust" people to be objective about it. meaning that for example, if i liked Broken Toy in early 2005, but now i haven't been listening to it in months, then i still admitted that to me it was good then, so it earned a place in my "best of - nominations" list. each psynewser has been typing here their "personal taste" best of, and there is nothing you can do about "personal taste". in this case, i am sure the Top 5 contains albums/comps that they liked the most in 2005, even if it means the first half of 2005 (Antix, Jaia, Shpongle, etc) or the second half (Derango, Khetzal, Ticon). you don't forget your favourite albums that easily. or at least i hope so.
  21. we close the topic at 1st of February.
