aww you're just mocking us .. bastard Protoculture - Refractions Tikal - Ritual Dance Time Lock - 10 Seconds Away VA - Rehashed and i think that's about all. i also have the Penta, Menog, E-jekt, Jocid albums .. but i don't know if they're good .. i didn't give them a proper listen. the competition in the scene is big.

i suppose so, i don't know. but i can only conclude that trance is the genre that triggered people to use the term "psychedelic", and explore, create, combine, diversify trance into the subgenres that exist today. because of the geometry, rythm, sounds, atmospheres, that gave people's brain a new way of perception on music and surroundings. this is why "psychedelic" is used today in trance-related music genres. and less in other music genres. i just want to say that psychedelic is not certain bassline or twisted crazy samples and other digital effects ... but it's a form of perception of music. if hip hop had this effect on people's perception of music, then i guess we'd be tripping on psychedelic hip-hop

oh god, i just hope that people who will post in this thread will not start talking about drugs in music. here's my explanation of Psychedelic in music: with commercial music .. the sounds, rythm, melodies are built so that the brain/heart/body perceive them in a certain, common, simple way ... it brings up in people very basic feelings, like romance, anger, joy, and even ordinary, basic dance moves. in my opinnion you don't need much brain activity to read a r&b or pop song. i haven't heard of a person who stayed on the dancefloor for hours, dancing non stop to commercial music. with psychedelic music (and please notice that i didn't say psytrance) .. the sounds, rythm, melodies are built so that the brain/heart/body perceive them in a special, different, inner way ... it brings up in people different, strong feelings, like friendship, energy, good will, meditation, need for more, higher, etc, it activates you brain at a higher level into reading the music, and reacting to it according to the limits your brain sets. with psychedelic music different brains are stimulated on different levels. a person on drugs will read the music in a certain way, and the body will act accordingly. a person not on drugs may read the music in the same way or different, and the body will act accordingly. this is why we call it "psychedelic". cause this music lets your brain and body experience, explore, push and expand their limits and the way we perceive things around us. conclusion: psychedelic is a state of mind, a way of perception, that we can find in music.

my friend canceled. i'll be there.

as i said: i don't think he's trying to convince anyone that there is good full on. he just wanted to stop the bashing. which is pretty much impossible. i think this thread is finished.
-
ok people. Rain's intention (if you read the first post of this thread) was to bring in here the people who bash full on. he was gonna make them stop bashing full on, and make them speak about their reasons for bashing full on. it's a very hard thing to accomplish without people going off topic. so i am not surprised that this thread took a bit of a wrong turn. so i am asking for some cooperation here.

i don't know if i should allow you guys to take the piss. you guys are being off topic and it's not helping the situation. i'm watching you!!!! be prepared to be moderated.
-
i certainly hope you were respecting me before aswell. just like i respect you. i'm not telling you how to behave or what to do / what not to do. that was more like an advice. take it or leave it. usually when 2 people don't get along, they move on.. on separate ways. it can be done in forums aswell.
-
at least i tried

ehm, what advice? i'll give 3 recommendations: VA - Midnight Storm (Nexus Media, 2005) - south african style, mad, twisted, darkish, fast, psychedelic full power psytrance. i wrote a review for this CD. Voice Of Cod - We Are Free (Organic Records, 2005) - brittish style, psychedelic, funky, groovie, melodic, mad, sensitive, full power psytrance. i wrote a review for this CD. VA - Invasion From Hyperspace (Organic Records, 2005) - morning trance, melodic, uplifting, playful, serious, powerful psytrance. Wrote a short review on it. if you want just one track, here is what i'm listening to now: Time Lock - Electrolite, from album: 10 Seconds Away (2004) i love this track. tell me what your style is, and i'll tell you what to listen to. since you are greek, you might like south african style

as for this, i would like to tell you that you are totally out of line and totally off topic, in your own thread. when you start a thread in a forum, you are supposed to follow its evolution, and lead it in the direction that you want. at least that's how i do it, and it works. i don't owe you any explanations, but as for "mods lied to me" .. please let me remind you (and everyone else to whom it may concern) that psynews now has a new moderating team. the way we choose to manage the forum and the forum people is not for you to control/decide. anyone is allowed/invited to step in and tell us their opinnion, we value the people on psynews and everyone knows it. they can step in by PM or messenger anytime, and they do it. at least with me. but you cannot blackmail mods by warning that you will leave, and you cannot command mars to "fix" the forum the way you want. as i said, i don't owe anyone any explanations, but i will just let you know that we have a subforum for the moderating team and we discuss a lot of the daily psynews issues. we have discussed about many people on the forum, and made some decisions. this is why you see E.P. on psynews. this is why you don't see Spindrift on psynews. because of us, mods. not just mars, not just Anoebis, but because of the moderating team, all together. so mars doesn't have to fix things for you. i hope you will aggree. this thread is open still, but i think it is pretty much finished. feel free to continue the discussion ... on topic
-
i would like to step in to "moderate". thus i reopened this thread. Rain, let me remind you that yesterday i told you "let's see how your thread turns". i did that for a reason. i chose to let you try to handle this topic .. it's a very hard topic to handle, and you have to keep it very calm and objective. you failed. you lost control of your own thread. why? because full on is a sensitive subject for some people. you can't get people to bring arguments about why they like or they hate a certain genre of music. because it's about personal taste. and this is how human mind works: if there is a trend, the trend will always have followers. that's why we have 2 trends : lovers and haters. i think psynews is somewhere in the middle, there are many people who simply love a good music when they hear it. we like what sounds good to us. i'm not a full on lover, i'm not a full on hater either. why they bash? because full own draws too much attention, comparing to other music genres. why? 1. because of few names from the scene that do a lot of promotional stuff and advertise for themselves (their image, their music) that some people found it/them ridiculous. they started to joke around, until it became a trend. (remember the Raja Ram cover sessions? or the Astrix, or Skazi photoshop sessions?) 2. the scene has always been considered "underground" .. if some artists are trying to bring it to mainstream (possibly to make some money), they are trying to make a change that many people do not wish to happen, because of this idea: "underground = value, it belongs just to us", "mainstream = commercial, for everybody to have". so when they don't want a change to happen, people react. 3. when you go to a party, someone comes in and spins full on, which combined with some drugs, will pack the dance floor. there are people who have been in the scene for years, they just sit on the margin and look at people dancing, and they remember "that the parties used to be different, they used to be goa". it happened to me too ... we cannot bring those times back, so in our subconscious we need to put the guilt on someone/something. yes, it's wrong to bash full on. but you have to make a difference between discussing and bashing. everybody is free to like the music they consider. but maybe it is also good to remember that this is a forum. you cannot change people on forums.
-
Rain, i think you should simply ignore people that you don't get along with. and stop getting so angry over forum discussions. what's the point? radi6404, you should give Rain a break too. let the man breath for a change if this thread is going off topic and too personal, i will close it. please remember that you are in the topic: "Recommendation for newbiew", and no other topic whatsoever. if you cannot leave your personal issues aside, then please consider using the PM (Private Message) function of the forum.

oh, don't worry, i wasn't really serious. but blame the organisers isn't 100% serious either. can't be ..!
-
blame the downloaders. small cd sales --> need for money from gigs --> need for more gigs --> more gigs --> need for dance floor music --> more full on. drugs may have some effect too somewhere there.
