  1. everybody understands what i ment by "beatless ambient". you don't need to tell me what is "supposed". especially with all the variety of combinations used in music today, "supposed" is kinda fading away in music production. ok, i have read all your posts. usually, when i get home in the evening, after a lame day of work and stress, sometimes i switch on the computer, check online stuff and friends. then do stuff around in the house, but music is playing in the background all the time. no matter how stressed i am, i never listen to chillout or ambient music in order to relax. i find my energy in psytrance (usually melodic stuff, or stuff that i consider "smart" psy), in discovering new sounds, in finding more about psy music. i guess i relax in other ways. i'll relax when i sleep. i'll sleep when i'm dead. i'll die when i'm done. nevertheless, i will check some albums recommendations from you guys. that's valuable info. thanks. hopefully i will manage to really pay attention to beatless ambient and feel it. till then, long live the beats! well, that includes rythm too.
  2. thanks for the "stupid" thanos. you COULD say a few words about the music you like. but nevermind

    GoaTrance

also check VA - Invasion From Hyperspace it's a nice summer trance compilation. it was a very nice surprise to hear a few tracks from this comp spinned by djs during the transylvania calling festival last week. there are many good releases in 2005. check the reviews sections. many reviews are yet to come!
  4. personally i am not much into beatless ambient. i find it too simple for the brain, easy to produce, boring, sometimes longish and annoying. maybe i just don't get it? so here are my questions: why do you like it? do you like it when sober or when stoned or both? so please, feel free to praise beatless ambient, describe it with your own words, tell me what effects it has on you (body and brain), maybe even give me your favourite beatless ambient tune.
  5. va - apsara lunch break, no food plenty of time for music
  6. to get back on topic ... an interesting thing would be to find out: how do our reviewers get their music? cause i am sure they don't just get promotional cds, they also purchase some. many people follow this way: download, listen, like, buy .. and in between these, they read reviews. do our reviewers read reviews in order to make their choices? please explain this or get thrown in the river
  7. i like it, it's good quality, good for the dancefloor. but i don't see it as "best release ever". my thought is you can't really be objective about the compilation. some friendships might have something to do about it. i'll be watching your objectivity! you have been warned. *evil*
  8. you could use www.yousendit.com but that only keeps your mix up for about 7 days. else, find someone nice with webspace. anyone extra webspace?
  9. uh oh it's the truth. i also appreciate the info about the artists. you get that from the inside cover of the cds, right? thank YOU ok guys, cut the crap about discogs and india and dont hijack this thread
  10. blue planet corporation - wild city, this morning before coming to the office
  11. crazy finns .. what do you mean?
  12. it depends it's very easy to find the melody in old school goa, in morning trance, in summer goa trance. but i am not talking about melodic psy, generally. i can find the melody in dark, twisted psy also, or in progressive trance that others find cold and boring. if there is melody there, i'll find it. last time i did was during Krumelur's live act at the festival. it was a very nice surprise. as i had been reading stuff about his style and i wasn't expecting that my brain would read the melody in it. that's why we need artists to start making more smart music. stop following one path, or 2 paths combined, and just go for the brain, soul, intuition and talent path.
  13. "Dialogue Of The Speakers" - a good album i haven't formed a detailed opinnion of it, as i am still stuck on "Pagan Dream Machine (Vibrasphere Mix)" i like it and 2 friends asked for the cd already. i am thinking if i should give it to them
  14. men .. so sensitive ... i am watching you too seraph. sorry for excluding you up in my post. i just forgot to put your name next to RAH and pr0fane. my boss must have been around and i had to drop psynews and work.
  15. what good are reviews? reviews are very good. i appreciate every reviewer on this website that takes time and goes through every track of an album/compilation/etc. that's not easy, it takes time. hell knows it takes me a few good listens before i can put a few sentences together and make a review. but that's just cause i only have like 3-4 years of psy in my background. i am getting better though! i think that if you read reviews that people give on psynews, you can go further and see beyond the review. you can observe the styles that the reviewer likes best, and then you will understand that the releases that made their ears happy got priority in the reviews section. i am generally looking for the melodies in the tracks, and for what i call "smart music" .. so if you see me reviewing, that's my type. i am trying to diversify reviews though. but i am nevertheless a newbie. now .. what do i do with reviews ... i don't have the posibility to download or buy too much music. - i go for what Insejn recommends - his collection is big, he has good taste in music, i love him. i don't even need a full review from Insejn. he knows. - i go read DeathPosture's reviews. first i read the conclusion. then i download the tracks. i listen a few times, then i go to DP's review again, go through every track, but that's just to see how realistic his review is, and to see technical terms he uses, and general terms he uses to describe sounds. usually his review is close to my opinnion about the album. that's why he's my nr.1 reviewer. even if in the end he says "i love this album" and i say "fuck this album", the review has no mistakes, it's just a matter of perception. Mart's da man. if i like what i listen, i make a short review, just for promotional reasons. like, go get it, it's good it's harder when you give a review about a release you don't like as much as the others, because you'll have to think twice before posting, to make sure they don't see you as an idiot and say "you know nothing, this release is good". for example Lemmiwinks considers a certain compilation as one of the best releases ever. i just think that release is "ok". i will not tell Lemmiwinks that he is overreacting, but i will surely ignore his review. and if it happends again in the future, then we have different taste and i will not follow his reviews anymore. lately i am trying to follow RAH and pr0fane reviews too. to see what their tastes are about. i am watching you guys! but generally i am a busy girl so i don't have much time for reading/writing reviews... i intend to give reviews for like 5-6 albums/compilations .. but i have to find the time .. and the words. being a newbie sux

    V/A - Apsara

so .. you're the boss, huh? good job Filipe.
  19. i love this album. it's something you cannot miss from your collection. the cover is a bit sucky. i guess they wanted to attract the eye by putting all that invasion of colorful objects. but it's ok, it's a warm and colorful cover. it's gonna be a hard-to-forget one. the album is good quality all the way. summer trance music indeed. good for the dance floor. or .. better said .. good for the dance grass! i'd play this album on the top of a mountain. also it's something that will turn your non-psy girl into a psy-girl. especially tracks 1, 2, 3 and 4. in some parts it gets full-on'ish, trance'ish, dark'ish, it is very melodic and this is the basic characteristic of this compilation .. the combination and association of all these was successful. most tracks on this one are destined to pack the dance floor if you ask me. i give all the tracks "thumbs up". however, my favourite tracks are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7.
